00:00What is going on? It's the world famous K-Rock.
00:03And we get the low frequencies if we talk like this.
00:05And we get the low frequencies.
00:06Hello, Stephen Jenkins from Third Eye Blind.
00:08It's good to see you.
00:09It's always so good to see you.
00:10Places in the world we keep meeting up.
00:12I know, I know, I love it.
00:14And we get to have the nice lake background, a cool breeze.
00:17It's finally starting to cool off here.
00:19They have oversized ducks.
00:20We picked this time to play very particularly.
00:25It's better to play, yeah.
00:27It's coming up on the time where the cool air comes in.
00:31Everybody's still lifted.
00:33Yes.
00:33And nobody has to drive home.
00:35So it's like, I want to play when we're peaking.
00:37Yes.
00:38You picked a really great time because it has been insanely humid and hot all weekend.
00:43But everybody is going hard and the vibes are great.
00:46Yeah, you don't want to be too sticky.
00:47No, no, we don't want that.
00:49But, you know, you guys, you've really done so much throughout your entire career.
00:53You've played everywhere.
00:54You've played so many festivals.
00:55You did stagecoach.
00:56And now you're here at Warped Tour.
00:58So what does that mean for you?
00:59Never played the Grammys.
01:01Never?
01:01Oh, what the hell?
01:02Ain't nobody ever going to give me one of those.
01:04Time's up.
01:04I don't want to be in your club anyway.
01:06Yeah, screw you guys.
01:09But how does it feel to be at Warped Tour?
01:10Like, what is your conception of Warped Tour from, you know, the past and knowing about it?
01:17I think it's delightful.
01:19I think there's like kind of a, people are kind of into their thing here, not really in the business
01:26of giving fucks about it.
01:28Yep.
01:28And you can kind of feel that.
01:29I think that's a good energy to be around.
01:33We did the first one, I think it was in D.C.
01:36But this feels like, Long Beach feels like this is kind of round zero, right?
01:41Yep, 100%.
01:42Yeah.
01:42Yes.
01:43So, I'm looking forward to it.
01:45I didn't know I was going to go over the first time because that was my first time ever being
01:48to Warped Tour.
01:50Right.
01:50I never went to it.
01:51Yep.
01:52But you were too big already.
01:53Colin, who is our keyboard player, the first time he went here was 13.
01:58Oh my gosh.
01:58And then he snuck in and he played on one of the outdoor parking lot stages when he was 14.
02:03Yes, yes.
02:05So, he's living his teen fantasy.
02:08Yes, and that's how I feel because I would go to Warped Tour when I was young
02:11and getting to see all these bands and interview these bands that I've loved and I would go and watch.
02:15And there's just a sense of community and everybody who's attending is just stoked to be here for the music.
02:22It's not about looking a certain way or anything like that.
02:25It's just about being free.
02:26Yeah.
02:28And yet everybody does seem to be black on black.
02:32Today is more black on black.
02:34Yeah.
02:34I understood the assignment for today.
02:36Yeah.
02:37Probably neck tattooed.
02:39Get all the way up there.
02:42So, you have been touring a lot.
02:45You've been doing the most.
02:46And you were absolutely incredible at Acoustic Christmas last year.
02:50And I'm so excited to watch you guys today.
02:52I was delighted to play Acoustic Christmas.
02:55You were so good.
02:56I was like...
02:58I could tell.
02:59I could feel it.
03:01The energy was there.
03:02So, the 30th anniversary is coming up of the self-titled album.
03:06Next April.
03:07Yeah.
03:07So, do you think you might do something special for that?
03:11Maybe do the album in its entirety situation?
03:14The tour?
03:16We're sort of brewing things up for next year.
03:19Okay.
03:20Things are in the works.
03:21Love it.
03:21Try to get some new music.
03:22And the only thing that's holding up new music is me finishing the lyrics.
03:27Yeah.
03:28That's hard.
03:29You need inspiration.
03:29And suddenly my feed...
03:30I've got to get out of my feed.
03:32I've got to stop this...
03:33I'm going to quit all social media as soon as possible.
03:36I think that's a good idea.
03:37Which could be now.
03:39But now, everything I get is like, how to deal with your ADHD.
03:43Uh-oh.
03:44And it's everywhere.
03:45Uh-oh.
03:45And it's just reading my soul.
03:47Oh, no.
03:48Oh, no.
03:49Like, telling me exactly who I am.
03:52It's Mark Zuckerberg telling me who I am.
03:54I know.
03:54Reading your mail.
03:55It's quite a thing.
03:57Yeah.
03:58Anyway, I'm going to have to get that in check and finish the lyrics for a new album,
04:02which we'd like to have out by our 30th anniversary.
04:06I would absolutely love that.
04:07And I hope that you get some inspiration from playing Warped Tour to write us some lyrics.
04:13Me too.
04:14You're just the best.
04:14I'm dying to be freaked.
04:15Go ahead.
04:16Send it to me.
04:18All right.
04:18So we're going to go jump in the lake now.
04:20But Stephen Jenkins, Third Eye Blind, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with
04:24us today.
04:24You're the best.
04:25What a pleasure.
04:26Have a nice time at Warped Tour.
04:28Yeah.
04:28Be emo sad.
04:30Emo sad.
