00:00Many people are desperate for a bit of rain and whilst most of us will see some of it this
00:05weekend,
00:06the further south you are, the longer you're going to have to wait and the less of it there's going
00:10to be.
00:10It's because our weather will be coming in from the north-northwest through the rest of today, through the weekend.
00:16And so that's where we're going to see the heaviest rain and also where it's going to arrive that little
00:21bit earlier.
00:22In fact, through today there will be some outbreaks of drizzly rain across parts of Scotland,
00:26perhaps even into Northern Ireland and Northern England, and then something a little bit more persistent rain-wise
00:31starting to edge into the far north of England later in the afternoon.
00:35Elsewhere, however, well, it's another dry, often sunny day.
00:38Maybe the sunshine a bit hazy due to some high-level cloud, but plenty of sunshine around.
00:43And with that then, temperatures rising a little bit higher than yesterday for a fair few of us.
00:48Reasonable chance we'll get back into the low 30s across parts of the southeast,
00:52fresher towards the north and also some western areas, especially where we have that cloud,
00:57and any rain that will keep temperatures down just a little bit as well.
01:01Through the evening overnight, a bit of rain spills its way across much of Scotland,
01:05into parts of Northern England, across Northern Ireland, and later the far north of Wales as well.
01:10But there's some more persistent heavier rain that arrives into northern-northwestern parts of Scotland
01:14through the early hours of Saturday morning.
01:17And here we're going to see the winds picking up risk of coastal gales for some places as well.
01:21Meanwhile, across other parts, it's looking largely dry across southern areas.
01:25Yes, a dry, often clear night.
01:27Maybe some pockets of mist and fog around across parts of Wales, southwest England perhaps,
01:32and temperatures generally holding up.
01:33So a relatively warm night for many of us.
01:36So a wet start to the day on Saturday across north-northwestern parts of Scotland,
01:41and a blustery one too.
01:43That slightly heavier, more persistent rain edges its way across southern parts of Scotland,
01:47Northern Ireland, Northern England, and into North Wales as we head into the afternoon.
01:52Further north, we will see the more persistent rain clearing away,
01:55and so there'll be some drier weather, albeit for Orkney and Shetland staying quite windy here,
01:59and there will still be some showery bursts of rain.
02:02Central areas, yes, seeing some rain pushing through, but it's breaking up as it arrives,
02:06so not as persistent as it will have been earlier on in the day across northern areas,
02:10and southern parts of England, well, and also Wales, clinging on to that sunny weather,
02:15and with that then it's still going to be pretty hot.
02:18The highest temperatures, the hottest air will have shifted a little bit further eastward,
02:22so across parts of the southwest, temperatures down a couple of degrees compared to Friday,
02:27but in parts of the east, southeast temperatures, if anything, may be up a degree or so.
02:31So again, 30 Celsius, perhaps even 31 Celsius looks relatively likely.
02:36Fresher towards the north and west, there is fresh air coming in behind that front,
02:39that's making its way southeastwards across the country.
02:42That front then does continue southeastwards through Saturday evening,
02:46so it will bring some outbreaks of rain to some southern areas, but not a huge amount.
02:51It's not going to really do anything to alleviate the ongoing, very serious issues that we have
02:57because of how dry it has been recently.
03:00But there is more wet weather to come as we go into Sunday.
03:03Most of us will see some showery bursts of rain, especially during the morning.
03:07A lot of that will clear away by the afternoon, some heavier bursts continuing perhaps for
03:11eastern parts of Scotland, but generally it's looking a little bit drier with some brighter
03:16sunny spells developing, albeit one thing that most of us will notice, especially in the south,
03:21will be a slightly fresher feel, a bit more comfortable perhaps because of the cooler air
03:25that's coming in as that frontal system clears away towards the east and southeast.
03:30So temperatures really only peaking in the mid-20s, a good drop of around 5, 6 degrees in some places.
03:35There is more hot weather potentially on its way as we go through next week,
