00:00Good morning. Lots of fine weather to come as we go through today and that fine weather is going to stick with us as we go through the long bank holiday weekend.
00:08That's because we have high pressure in control, but with that high pressure and the clear sky some of us had overnight, it is a bit of a chilly start to the day.
00:15Otherwise though, and whilst we are going to see some of the cloud burning away, many places are going to actually stay a bit stuck under that cloud,
00:23particularly across some parts of southeast Scotland, northeast England, even some other parts of eastern England and across Northern Ireland.
00:29But where the cloud does break and we get some decent sunny spells, it's actually going to feel pleasantly warm.
00:35Temperatures similar may be slightly higher than yesterday. We're looking at highs of around 22, 23, possibly 24 Celsius.
00:42Still a bit fresher towards those North Sea coasts, but as the winds out towards the North Sea start to ease, it's going to feel ever so slightly warmer as we go through the next couple of days.
00:53Then later on as we go overnight, watch out, there could be a few showery bursts around here and there.
00:57There could have been a few during the day and there could still be a few overnight, perhaps isolated showers passing across parts of Wales and into southern England.
01:06Otherwise, and a slight different story to last night in as much as where the thicker cloud will be across parts of Wales, southwest England.
01:14It's looking pretty cloudy tonight. Meanwhile, across more northern parts of England and much of Scotland, we have some clearer skies here.
01:20And then that plays its part in how chilly it's going to get. So where we get those clear skies across northern areas, again, temperatures could drop into low single figures.
01:29But further south, southwest, a milder night than it was last night because of the fact that there'll be a bit more cloud around.
01:35Then through tomorrow, still the chance of a few showery bursts of rain here and there, but not many.
01:41Most of them are going to be pretty light and few and far between, really.
01:45The vast majority of us having a largely dry day, quite cloudy at times, but there will be some brightness around perhaps the best of the sunshine towards parts of East Anglia, Kent.
01:55And maybe towards Lincolnshire and Yorkshire and then also around large chunks of Scotland just away from this kind of central slice, if you will.
02:03Not the central belt, the central slice from north to south, which is likely to stay quite cloudy.
02:08Also cloudy across parts of Northern Ireland and here there could be some showery bursts, but a bit of uncertainty as to how much of that we're actually going to see develop.
02:16Now, temperatures, again, where you see those sunny spells developing, will get into the low 20s quite easily.
02:22And even under some of the cloudier skies, temperatures could be high teens, low 20s, so feeling pretty warm.
02:28And there's a warming trend to come as we go through this weekend.
02:32It is a bank holiday for many places, and so often the weather plays a nasty trick on us and turns unsettled.
02:38But it actually looks like the more unsettled weather is going to hold out for a little while yet, with high pressure still firmly in control.
02:44So not totally dry through the weekend.
02:47There could be a few showers here and there.
02:48But on the whole, a generally fine picture, lots of dry weather on offer, lots of sunshine.
02:54In fact, increasing amounts of sunshine as we head towards bank holiday Monday.
02:57And with that, yes, temperatures are going to rise nowhere near as hot as they have been in previous spells during this summer.
03:05But nonetheless, a warm or even very warm feel to things by the time that we get to bank holiday Monday, with temperatures peaking in the mid, possibly high 20s for some of us.
