01:35where he's expected to tout his economic policies including his latest round of tariffs.
01:40And a health update on Senator Mitch McConnell. His office releasing a new photo along with word that he'll miss
01:46one of Kentucky's biggest political events. And then later we're standing by to hear from President Trump in Michigan
01:53as the battleground state prepares to hold its primaries. The midterm blitz now in full swing with less than 100
01:59days to go.
02:00And in Michigan a key Senate seat is up for grabs. Minutes from now the president is expected to give
02:05a speech
02:05about the economy. Something that voters really care a lot about.

02:14So, Steve, we just heard the president gaggling on Air Force One on the way there giving us perhaps a
02:19little bit of a preview.
02:20He said that car companies are doing better than they've ever done. That's actually not true.
02:25He promised this big boom the last time he was there several months ago.
02:28And there's been a modest uptick in employment in the auto industry.
02:31But it's largely due to parts makers and suppliers and automakers have taken a bit of a hit instead.

02:47We are getting a new photo and a health update on Republican Senator Mitch McConnell,
02:52the 84-year-old's office releasing a picture, this one here, of the former majority leader and is with us
02:58now.
02:58So, Manu, tell us about this new health update and what it says about the senator's status.
03:05Well, it says that he's going to be out.
03:07The big date to look at is August 3rd.
03:09If you were to resign his Senate seat before August 3rd, that would trigger a special election for this coming
03:15November,
03:16meaning that whoever would replace him would serve out the rest of his term up until January
03:21during that lame duck session of Congress where key legislation is often considered.
03:26If McConnell stays through or decides to resign after August 3rd, then there would mean there would be no special
03:32election
03:32until the new senator takes his seat for the six-year term in January, so that August 3rd date, something
03:39to look out for.
03:40But McConnell giving no indication that he plans to resign, indicating that he plans to continue to try to recover.
03:46The question will be will he come back before the Senate leaves for its August recess within two weeks.
03:51If he doesn't, we may not see him until September or even later.

05:02On to the criminal trial that has people asking, was it premeditated murder or was it a mental health breakdown?
05:10Today, jurors heard from the first witness in the trial of Lindsay Clancy.
05:13The Massachusetts mother admits to strangling her three young children in 2023,
05:19five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan.
05:23Prosecutors say she acted intentionally and in control.
05:26The defense says that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis,
05:31that she killed her children as she tried to take her own life.
05:36CNN's Jean Casares is covering the trial for us.
05:39Jean, how did the two sides make their case in the openings today?
05:43Well, the prosecution is saying that this is...
05:46...that the hallucinations were in her mind and there were voices that were directing her to kill her children.
05:53And that is how this happened.
05:55And because of that, she does not bear any criminally responsibility
05:58because she did not know right from wrong.
06:01She was mentally insane at that moment.
06:03But the prosecution put, as the first witness on the stand today,
06:08...supply, not taking that medication.
06:10And the defense says that it's the medication
06:13and the lack of organization with all of these doctors
06:18that made her have that psychosis and that break.
06:22They're blaming it on the physicians and the health system.
06:26Yeah, it'll be very interesting to watch this trial
06:31because I think it also has a lot of ramifications for perhaps other trials as well.
