00:03and I'm talking about some of the footballs behind him there.
00:05He showed me his first interception, and it was Joe Namath
00:10at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
00:12He says that's his favorite football.
00:14I would say this to you as a kid growing up.
00:17Coach, the miracle in the Meadowlands,
00:20I would have thought that that would have been a football up there
00:23that you had when you ended up getting that pisargic play
00:26and you ended up taking it back for Coach Vermeer.
00:29So how's that not your favorite football?
00:32Well, it was special.
00:33I mean, there's no doubt.
00:34It was special.
00:35But when you think about it, you're a rookie.
00:38Your first start of the season opener is against the Rams.
00:42I'm a West Coast guy.
00:44You know, I grew up watching the Rams, the 49ers, the Raiders.
00:48You know, I grew up in that era.
00:50And I'm walking in the Coliseum, man, and I'm going,
00:53I'm playing against Joe Namath.
00:55You believe this?
00:57And I get an interception against Joe Namath?
00:58That was pretty good.
00:59That was a rookie.
01:00I'm going, man, I held on to the ball and all that.
01:04But you're right.
01:04I mean, the miracle, that was one of those plays.
01:07What's funny about that play is this,
01:11is that most people don't realize,
01:14when I picked up the ball and started running,
01:18Dick Vermeer was on the sideline.
01:20And imagine this, his back is turned away from the play.
01:23And he's got the offense, and he's talking to him about,
01:26hey, if we get the ball back, we're going to try to do this to score.
01:29And players are running past him.
01:32And he goes, where are you guys going?
01:34And one of the players say, coach,
01:36Herms just scored a touchdown.
01:37Dick never saw the play.
01:38Oh, my God.
01:41He just saw me in the end zone.
01:43He saw me in the end zone.
01:45He never saw the play.
01:47One of the unbelievable plays in the history of the National Football League.
