00:00You speak of growing.
00:01The NFL obviously became a big staple at ESPN once you guys ended up getting the broadcast rights for that
00:08and being able to broadcast those games.
00:10Now we're talking about potentially, I mean, Chris, they want to do a Thanksgiving Eve game now.
00:16That's being reported now.
00:18Have you been shocked with the growth of the league?
00:21I mean, in 1994, Chris, the salary cap was $34 million.
00:26Today, it's $3.012.
00:29Have you been shocked with the growth of the league?
00:32No, I'm not shocked at all because I, you know, my roots were in, we're talking about radio, but football
00:37growing up in the Miami, South Florida area.
00:40And then, of course, the NFL back in the Dolph as a kid, you know, the undefeated Dolph and still
00:46the only perfect team.
00:47So I, and I became, that was my first love in any sport.
00:52And I obviously enjoy all, but I thought back, even when I left ESPN, I just, I remember there was
00:57a conference call.
00:58And I left ESPN to go to Fox with some of the writers and I, people laughed at me.
01:01And I said, you watch, there's going to be the growth.
01:04There's going to be an NFL network.
01:05I mean, the NFL is so big and they became, they became big.
01:09The product is good.
01:11America runs on football.
01:12I know it's a slogan for, for Duncan, but the truth is that's where we are.
01:16From the season that really means something, every game valuable to free agency, the draft.
01:22We're talking about things in the off season.
01:24They, they, they really do it right.
01:26I, I, people think they're going to be over, you know, saturated, but maybe with streaming, they found new ways
01:31to do things.
01:32The NFL is a powerhouse and the product, even though we complain about officiating or, or certain things, it's, it's
01:39still, it's number one for a reason, at least in America.
01:41And, and, and internationally, that's the next phase, but I'm not shocked at all because it's going to continue to
01:47grow.
01:48And they're wise about how they reach out and what they, what they go to next, whether it's a social
01:53through, whether it's streaming or through social media, whatever they do right now, they're, they're doing it right.
01:59Are you, are you a fan in 30 seconds, Chris, are you a fan of the NFL expanding overseas and
02:06potentially having a team over there?
02:08Do you, would you like to see that or no?
02:11No, not, not now.
02:12I, I don't, I think it's too early.
02:13I think you got to give that a decade, especially given where the world is with things.
02:17And I don't certainly don't want a Superbowl over there.
02:19Not for a long time.
02:20I, I, I mean, and look, it's not my decision, but that's just me as a, as a fan talking.
02:25And I, I think too many international games, too many, some are good.
02:28And I get it.
02:29I get the business part of it and tap markets that have money, but you do too many of those.
02:33You're taking a home game away.
02:35They're going to say they, somebody has a home game over in London or Brazil, but you're taking a home
02:38game away from diehard fans.
02:39And to only have so many home games anyway, I know we're talking about expanding the season, which I think
02:44I would be in favor of an 18 game schedule.
02:46But I think we got to be careful about the international, how, how far are you going to push that?
02:51And I know it's good business down the road and all sports are becoming more and more global, but I
02:56think you have to take some certain steps and hopefully they'll take the right steps so that the, the, the
03:01fan, the NFL fan and the US of a doesn't feel like they're being overlooked or pushed aside or pushed
03:07to the, to the second seat in the, in the stadium.
03:10And I think we're going to take a look at the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
03:10the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
03:10the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
03:10the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
03:10the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
03:10the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
