00:02Having beaten Sri Lanka 1-0 in the recent two-match test series, the West Indies are
00:06getting ready for another red ball series against Pakistan in Trinidad with the opener
00:10bowling off on Saturday in Teruba. Coach Darren Sami is hoping that the men in Maroon continue
00:15with their winning ways against Baba Razum's team. We saw some good results against Sri Lanka so
00:20hopefully the plan is to continue in that vein, practice, fine-tune some of the skills, have a
00:26feel of what the surface looks like and what it may play and hopefully we could come out
00:32and play a good game of test cricket over the next five days. Sami says prior to the series
00:40against Sri Lanka in Antigua, the West Indies players trained in that country. Because
00:45of that, they knew what to expect from the wicket. But such is not the case in Trinidad.
00:50Because we trained at the venue, we knew what the surface was going to be in 10 days in
00:56advance. The conversations with the ground staff as to what we as the home team wants. That
01:03was fruitful. But here, I'm not sure if it's what I requested I'm getting as yet. But look,
01:14at the end of the day, whatever the surface brings, we have to be able to adjust and play
01:19the roles that will help us to be successful. Having said that, Sami has faith in his pacers,
01:27although Al-Zari Joseph is out due to personal reasons. He says a collective effort from all
01:33players is needed for the home team to win the series against the Pakistanis.
01:37We have a bowling line-up that we've seen that could take 20 wickets. That's the first start to win
01:43in test
01:44matches. We saw it in New Zealand. We saw it in the Australia series. We matched Australia
01:50with the ball. We matched New Zealand with the ball as well. And the confidence and the work
01:56that the batters have put in. You could see it bearing fruit in the test series against Sri Lanka.
02:04Much more consistency coming through. So once we match these two batsmen score runs,
02:10we know we have the bowling line-up to take 20 wickets and help us win test matches.
02:17It's the first time that the Bryan-Laura Cricket Academy will host a test match. As such,
02:21Sami is urging fans to come out and support the West Indies, saying it's important for the 12th man
02:27to send good energy to the team. We have a great history, especially in test
02:31this weekend. We just lost a great one in Segari. And what he contributed to the test,
02:38to the test game. You know, because of him, we got so many followers, so many lovers of cricket.
02:44You know, he contributed so much to that. So throughout this series, we will be playing
02:48and trying to honour his legacy and trying to put performances that he would be proud of.
02:54So I'm really hoping that, you know, that could inspire the guys to come out
02:59and treat it and always show their love and support for the West Indies team.
03:04So hopefully they could come out and see a historic event here.
