West Indies men's coach Daren Sammy wants his side to win ODIs on foreign soil, with the hope of climbing up the ladder to qualify for the World Cup.

His comments come ahead of the three-match 50-over series against hosts England starting Thursday.
Transcript
00:01Following the Ireland tour where the West Indies drew the ODI Series 1-1,
00:05the men in Maroon are now preparing for another 50-over contest, this time against England.
00:09The last time both sides met in the Caribbean in 2024, the West Indies came out on top 2-1.
00:15But coach Darren Sami is fully aware that the upcoming series against the same opponents is going to be quite tough.
00:21It's always a challenge. Ireland was a challenge, England is a challenge.
00:26You know, every international team posts different type of challenges.
00:30For us it's to continue to believe, continue to work, and we are putting in the work.
00:36And yeah, we hold the trophy from winning the series at home.
00:41And yeah, we're trying to better our away record.
00:47Having missed out on the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the West Indies don't want to repeat in 2027.
00:53As such, coach Sami says his players are focused on doing all in their power to represent their team on the African continent in two years' time.
01:02Climbing up the rankings is the only way we could do that.
01:04You know, we've made some strides from when we just started.
01:08We are at number nine right now with England just ahead of us, I think by two or three points.
01:15And this series is very important.
01:17In fact, every ODI game from now until the deadline for qualification is important.
01:22So that should be extra incentives for our guys.
01:26And we are preparing well, well, with the conditions that are handed to us.
01:31Sami is also pleased with batsman Casey Carty, who has 34 ODIs under his belt.
01:37The 28-year-old has come in for praise following his two ODI turns in Ireland to take his tally to three.
01:43When they tell you hard work brings rewards, you know, Casey is an example of that.
01:48The role that we've given him, the way he's grabbed it and made the best out of it, you know.
01:55And, you know, when you make an investment, you don't expect so much high returns so quickly.
02:02And Casey has defied the odds and long may that continue.
02:06And I know it will continue because of the work he puts in.
02:08Besides the West Indies batting, Sami is also keen to see Pisa Jadon Seals and the other bowlers shine in England.
02:15Vinod now on 8th of 6th 4th.
02:17Athleticism supreme.
