West Indies head coach Daren Sammy says fast-bowler Shamar Joseph's absence due to injury is a blow to the Caribbean side ahead of next month's Test series.

At the same time, Sammy wants his players to go into the series with a positive mindset.

00:00The West Indies will take on home side India in two test matches, with the first one bowling
00:04off on October 2nd in Ahmedabad, followed by Game 2 on the 10th in Delhi.
00:09The men in Maroon are already in India and coach Darren Sami says the players are training
00:14in a way that could help them adapt to the conditions in that country.
00:17Yes, it's good to be in India, a place where we've not really won a series in 42 years.
00:25However, just arriving here, the facilities, everything, I would be motivated to actually
00:32train here.
00:33And I'm pretty sure the guys are, you know, after a long travel journey, you know, it's
00:38important right away to start the recovery process for us to be able to start the work.
00:45That has been done.
00:46Sami reiterates that the West Indies will take motivation from New Zealand, who swept India
00:51last year after the hosts had won 18 consecutive test series in their own backyard prior to
00:57that.
00:58But more importantly, the coach wants his players to go into the series with confidence.
01:03The mindset must be a winning mindset.
01:06And yes, we've studied all the things that New Zealand did right, the roles that were played,
01:10you know, the different areas that they bowled and the way, the batsmen, the skill set required.
01:16And that was successful against India.
01:19So yes, we will take inspiration from all of that.
01:22But I think the biggest inspiration comes from within our own self, the belief that we are
01:26here to compete and win.
01:29According to Sami, the absence of pacer Shamar Joseph through injury is a big blow.
01:34In his short career, the 26-year-old has taken 51 wickets from 11 test matches.
01:39Watching him play in the CPL final and watching him bowl 145, you know, I was really hoping
01:48that he would be here.
01:49Just what he did, what he's done in test cricket, how he bowled against Australia, you know,
01:54he was our leading wicket taker and he was the go-to man for Captain Rawson Chase.
01:58Joseph has been replaced by Johan Lehn, whom Sami Sells is a promising and talented pacer.
02:04I've been with Nawaani Chiefs exporting.
