00:00I guess I'm always a little bit nervous. I've seen people with my hair color and
00:04my complexion go lighter before and they get a little bit brassy and that's
00:08something I really want to avoid. I don't want to have orange toned hair.
00:12Hi, I'm Hania. Today I'm getting some caramel highlights and balayage along
00:16with some curtain bangs and I'm excited to see what happens. So growing up my mom
00:21always made me have really short hair because it is very thick and she thought
00:25it would be too difficult for a young child to manage. I spent most of my
00:29childhood with like terrible bowl cuts and mushroom cuts. One time when I went
00:33in for my regular mushroom slash bowl cut, the hairdresser was a little bit
00:36overzealous and I wound up with a pixie cut and later that day when my uncle was
00:40driving me somewhere, he got pulled over for running a red light and the cop was
00:43like, is that your son back there? And I remember my uncle distinctly saying, no
00:48that's my niece and he said, niece or nephew? And I just remember in that moment
00:53being like, I cannot wait until I'm older and I'm allowed to have long flowing hair
00:59so I'll never be confused for a boy again. And as soon as I got into my teens,
01:02I was known for being the girl with the super long hair. I'm really looking forward
01:07to this transformation because right now my hair is just super long and thick and
01:11it hasn't been cut with the pandemic.
01:13Hi, I'm Kei. Nice to meeting you.
01:15Hi, I'm Hania. Nice to meet you as well.
01:17My name is Kei Hirata. I'm a director of 3Dui Salon. What would you like to do today?
01:23So I'd like to cut off a little bit of this hair but I still want it to be somewhat
01:28long.
01:29I want to add some dimension to my hair.
01:31Sounds great. Let's get started.
01:33Yeah, let's do it.
01:40We did the rough cut first.
01:45We're going to cut 4 inch off on the bottom.
01:55What I'm most excited for is just feeling lighter,
01:59not dragging around what right now feels like a horse's tail.
02:03I'm excited to have a new look. I'm excited to be able to run my hands through my lighter hair.
02:12After that, you're going to do a bleach with the foil.
02:22I'm also using back combing, teasing techniques to blend it in, the natural color, and the highlight.
02:44My mom would not let me dye my hair growing up. She always said that I could dye it when
02:49I got a job.
02:49So the first thing I did when I turned 22 and got my first job after school was go to
02:53the hair salon.
02:54And I got like this red purple ombre and it looked really good up until I needed to go get
03:01it toned again.
03:32After that, I'm going to do a full haircut, putting more layer towards to the front.
03:42A couple years ago, I chopped off 16 inches of my hair and I had a short bob for a
03:47little bit.
03:48I can't say I liked it that much. So I'm happy to have long hair again.
03:57After that, we're going to do a single color process to the whole hair to give a calendar color to
04:04the highlight parts.
04:37Then we're going to do a textualizing the whole hair.
04:47And lastly, cut the bangs.
04:50And then for the finishing, we use the curling nylon, about one inch and a half.
04:57And here's the final look.
04:59Oh my goodness. The bangs, the color, the length. Wow. I love everything about it.
05:08I feel so much lighter. I just want to keep playing with it.
05:13This is perfect. It's shorter, it's lighter, but it's still really long. It gives me the layers and the framing
05:19of the face that I wanted.
05:20So I feel very glam and I feel good and confident.
05:24This is so much better than what I thought it could have been. I am so happy.
