00:06Just putting the bleach in my hair took two and a half hours.

00:18I'm taking inspiration from one of my favorite influencers slash fashion icons, Evan Mock.
00:24And I think it looks really, really cool and it's something that I want to try for my own self
00:28-expression as well.
00:29In terms of my hair story, I think one of the most iconic haircuts, hairstyles I've ever had was having
00:35a bowl cut when I was a child.
00:38It looked cute as a kid, but I definitely could not be something that I could rock now.
00:43I've always wanted to color my hair. I've always wanted to actually bleach it, but every time I would go
00:49to the stylist,
00:50they would always shut me down and say that it was going to make my hair really unhealthy just because
00:54I had really healthy, strong, nice hair.
00:57Last summer was the first time I decided to stop listening to stylist and what everyone was telling me and
01:02just decided to just go for it.
01:04And now I'm ready to take it to the next level and add some color into my life.
01:09My name is Victoria and I'm a freelancer out here in a studio in East Village.
01:13I'm known to do a lot of balayages and full head color transformations, such as color melts, usually with a
01:20lot of dark hair to a lot of colorful hair.
01:23Today, I'm going to be working with Lauren and we're going to be taking her from a transitional balayage into
01:27a full head color melt.
01:29So I'm thinking about a dark rose gold to a light, pretty pink on the ends.
01:34That sounds perfect.
01:35Alright, let's get started.
01:38After looking at her hair, I've noticed that there's some inconsistencies in her hair in terms of color.
01:43I'm a little concerned if the leftover dark color will lift or not.
01:46The first thing I'm going to do is that I'm going to foil Lauren's full head with bleach.
01:51And I'm going to be really careful to not let the bleach kind of bleed into the pre-lightened part
01:56because that will cause breakage.
01:58And if I don't put it on the dark spots enough, then it will cause banding.
02:02This is going to be considered to be a color correction.
02:06Victoria seems to know exactly what she's doing.
02:09I actually had a lot of time with her to talk about my hair journey and what I'm looking for.
02:13She just made me feel really comfortable and I think just definitely just trust the process.
02:23Then I will leave her sitting there for approximately an hour, checking every 20 minutes or so to make sure
02:28that the lift is even.
02:29And any parts that are ready, I will take it off and then we will wait for the rest of
02:34the head.
02:37Once she's fully processed, then we will take her to the sink and Kevin will carefully pull out all the
02:41foils and wash her with cooler water with Olaplex shampoo and conditioner to maintain the integrity of the hair.
02:50Then we will set her up for a color melt service.
02:53We will carefully section her.
02:55We decided to go with a shadow root.
02:57A shadow root is a darker formulated color that will blend better with the root.
03:11And then we will melt it into another formulated rose gold into the mids and ends.
03:19And then we will let her process for about 20 minutes.
03:25Once that's ready, then we will take her to the sink and Kevin will wash her.
03:31And we'll blow dry in style.

04:23And she said it was exactly what she wanted.
04:24And I'm so happy to hear that because with the canvas I was working with,
04:28it was really tricky about getting the darker parts to lift evenly.
04:31So I'm so glad.
04:33Victoria did such an incredible job.
04:36I knew that my hair was kind of in a bad state when I first came in here
04:40just because there was a lot of colors going on.
04:43I wasn't necessarily taking care of it when my hair was bleached.
04:46So she did an incredible job just like making my hair just like a clean canvas
04:49and then just making this like beautiful, beautiful color.
04:54Lauren mentioned she's the type of person who will wash her hair every day.
04:57And that's something I would not recommend.
04:58The reason for that is because every time you wash your hair,
05:01a lot of the color will bleed out.
05:03So what I would recommend is to wash your hair less.
05:05If you can try, maybe every few days.
05:07And if you can, with cooler water.
05:09I also recommend using a sulfate-free, paraben-free shampoo.
05:12The hair color will probably fade within eight weeks or so.
05:15And so then I would recommend to come back for a toner service.
05:18And that's basically putting the pinky color right back in.
05:22A hair care routine is very important, especially for processed hair like Lauren's.
05:26It will keep the hair healthy and maintain the color much longer.
05:29I definitely think of myself as more of an extroverted person
05:32if you ask any friend and family member of mine,
05:35they will say that I'm a bit overwhelming with how extroverted I can be.
05:39So I think that this hair color really does represent that.
05:42I was originally inspired by Evan Mock.
05:45I think after the fact I succeeded, I feel pretty good to myself.
05:49I've been able to take elements of the style that I really like about his look.
05:52So Evan Mock, I hope you see this because I think you're really, really freaking cool.
05:57I feel fantastic.
05:59We were going out into the neighborhood to take some photos
06:01and I just felt like the coolest person out there.
06:04I'm just going to be honest.
06:05I saw people like being like, you look so good, you know, giving me some looks.
06:10So I've never really had that experience before.
06:12So it was something that was like a really, really nerve wracking, but super exciting feeling.
