00:13The Athletic did a really good reset, they called it,
00:16of six teams poised to sell.
00:18Who could make sense in Detroit?
00:21Because they give a list of players
00:23from each of those teams that could make sense.
00:28Like, for instance, the New York Mets,
00:30potential trade chips, this is kind of funny,
00:33all of their rosters save a few young players and Juan Soto.
00:36The few young players are starters,
00:39Nola McClain and Christian Scott,
00:40and outfielders Juan Soto, A.J. Ewing, and Carson Bengi.
00:45Then they write, you have to listen regarding everybody else.
00:50From their roster, a player that stands out to me
00:55as a cheap but perfect platoon player for A.J. Hinch
01:00is a good center fielder, defensive center fielder
01:03named Tyrone Taylor, who also has a 718 OPS.
01:07He's got some pop, he's got some speed,
01:10he's a right-hand bat, and again, a good defensive player.
01:16I feel like a right-hand bat that can play center field
01:19could make a ton of sense for them
01:21in lieu of Javi Baez return, but with Parker Meadows out,
01:26I like the idea of getting a guy like that
01:29in the outfield that could be more productive
01:33than a James Outman, for instance.
01:36That is one player on the list I like.
01:38The list of Angels, Angels are an obvious seller.
01:41Jose Soriano, Reid Detmers, and Joe Adele,
01:44those are players I would pass on all of them.
01:46The Giants, so the Giants have a player that I love,
01:51but I'm not sure that it makes sense in Detroit,
01:53and that's Luis Arise, who's pretty much
01:55just a second baseman, although he can play some first.
01:59But elite bat-to-ball skills, I mean,
02:01he's one of the few players in Major League Baseball
02:03still hitting over .326, but he's a lefty,
02:05and I think the cost would be pretty high there,
02:08and given the return of Gleyber Torres
02:10and what he provides for this team,
02:13I'm not sure it makes sense.
02:14The Reds, the Reds are an obvious seller,
02:19and the Reds have a player that we've talked about
02:21for a couple of weeks, Spencer Steer,
02:23a good, versatile, defensive player
02:26who can play three positions for you,
02:28first, third, and corner outfield.
02:30He's got 14 home runs, a .754 OPS.
02:34He's got a little bit of speed,
02:36and I think he could be had for not the highest of prices.
02:39Kansas City, their potential trade chips,
02:41veteran starters, relievers, and Lane Thomas.
02:45Lane Thomas is a platoon player for them,
02:47an outfielder who can play center field,
02:50right-handed bat, only 109 at-bats this year,
02:53but nine home runs and a .758 OPS.
02:56He's got a good arm and above-average cover ability
02:59in what would be a big center field,
03:02and then the Colorado Rockies have
03:04back-end starters and relievers.
03:06If you can find bullpen help at the trade deadline,
03:08if you're a buyer, I'm in favor of it.
03:10As far as on-field position players,
03:13Tyrone Taylor from the Mets,
03:14Lane Thomas from Kansas City,
03:16Spencer Steeler from the Reds,
03:19and Louisa Rize from Tampa.
03:22All make sense to me.
03:23If you are going to go into buy mode,
03:25what would justify buy mode?
03:28I've said it a bunch.
03:2912-4 is a no-brainer.
03:3111-5, probably.
03:33I don't think they're going to do that.
03:36Even though the schedule says they can,
03:38I just can't bet on this team being consistent.
03:42But if they do, don't stand pat.
03:45Buy.
03:46Buy.
03:46Get aggressive.
03:47I hope that buy move is out there.

03:52You got to find selling teams that are willing
03:54to give you a reasonable price,
03:55and that's not always the case.
03:57But those are four names I like.
