00:39interns you just never know learn how to board up learn how to screen calls and all you can hope
00:45is that uh maybe a job opens up during your internship and i feel like costa did two
00:52internships back to back and didn't get his first job here i don't believe i think his first job was

01:15was a teacher
01:16in farmington and they would set up in the summer for us to do externships so we would get an
01:21opportunity to go work kind of for about a week at another job learn about it come back teach some
01:26of

01:34no but there's
01:36this new station that went from 12 70 to 97 one we can get you in there i was like
01:40all right cool
01:41so i go in so for five days one day i was like it was with gator and somebody else
01:47you guys
01:47then with damn wetzel like uh gave out tiger tickets with a kid named crash do you remember
01:53a kid named crash uh all of an old car around with kids like like what like get stuck on
02:00the
02:00side of expressways and stuff i don't um you don't know well no no no by my two favorites though
02:07one
02:08i got to sit with gibby uh eli zarek and gary danielson at a motor city casino yep kind of
02:14sad
02:14i'm willing to help them do that but my best was got to sit and listen to ernie harwald call
02:19a game
02:20at comerica got to sit in the booth got to sit beside the board ops he would do three innings
02:26um
02:26it was uh jim price and dickerson would do three in the middle yep i think then i think ernie
02:31would
02:31come back to the final three yep he was the most kindest gentleman got pitches with him
02:36an unbelievable experience yeah he was awesome he was absolutely awesome and yeah i mean incredible
02:42went back when i yeah because uh i think gator worked with either wetzel or john lunn back then
02:48and um the locker room was the afternoon show with eli eli gibby and gary i remember
02:57this is total aside probably my favorite gibby stories he started playing hockey and riding a
03:03mountain bike sound familiar and i'm like dude so we started sharing stories and one day he kind
03:08of got into it in an adult hockey league with somebody and he was showing me how he took a
03:13guy
03:13into the corner and got him pretty good up against the boards but he didn't just tell me he was
03:20physically
03:22manhandling me and got me up against the wall of an area we called the bullpen back in our old
03:27building and the whole time i'm just thinking this man could kill me he could absolutely break me in half
03:35his hands were so strong his whole like he just and i'm like i'm glad i don't want to play
03:42against this guy
03:44but anyway all right uh thank you for all your stories uh national intern day if you're out there and
03:50you're a student go do them in fact i got to the point where i didn't want to do them
03:54for credit
03:54anymore because i was at a maximum of 12 credit hours and i wanted to do 12 different internships
03:58for one credit each um but yeah go go do internships it's a great way to get your foot in
04:05the door um
04:06all right so there's been a lot of talk today about scoogle and we're keeping our ear to the ground
04:15about what's going down the we played for you earlier a very interesting insight jeff passan
04:23really convinced he's going to the dodgers jim boden of the athletic convinced he's going to
04:29milwaukee and at this hour steve phillips former mlb gm works for mlb network was on mlb network radio
04:39and said the following listen to this or what the tigers could get for tarik skuble
04:52so
05:00so
06:01Is where I think we, I hope he's right.
06:07Because that sounds like fantasy to me.
06:12Jesus Mati is the number one prospect in baseball, middle infielder, the double A level, and everybody says he's going
06:22to be great.
06:24Luis Lara is playing now for the Brewers, and he has listed as a backup, but he has played in
06:35like seven of their last eight games.
06:38He's made his major league debut this year.
06:41He's hitting .286 with a .832 OPS.
06:47Yes, doesn't have a homer yet, but is walking enough and not striking out a ton and is an outfielder.
07:01And Luis Pena is their number two prospect, the number 18 prospect in the game.
07:10And he's talking about them getting the Ashby kid, the reliever that's at the big league level now.
07:17Aaron Ashby.
07:24What?
07:27I mean, I'm, okay, yes, right now, yes, yes.
07:35Scooble, and you know what, they can trade Jake Rogers, because Jake, I don't know if they want his own
07:40personal catcher, and throw in, I mean, not whatever else it takes, but, you know, you want an outfielder that
07:54can take the place of Lara, Luis Lara, a right fielder who's a switch hitter.
08:00Do you need a left-hander, like, Kerry Carpenter, sure, throw him in.
08:05Any bullpen arms you want?
08:07Sure.
08:10That would be a haul.
08:12Going into this year, that would be getting three of the top four prospects in what is one of the
08:17best systems in the game.
08:19You'd be getting number one, number 18, and a guy, Luis Lara, who was number 65, and a reliable bullpen
08:26arm?
08:29From Milwaukee?
08:32Um, yeah.
08:35There's, like, there's no way, right?
08:39Baseball people, like, you're a hardcore baseball fan.
08:42Did you hear what Steve Phillips just said?
08:47These are the kinds of things, like, I hope he's got his ear to the ground, and he's not just
08:53throwing, you know what, against the wall.
08:54Because if that's something he's hearing, that would be the kind of haul you dream about.
09:09And it also can do damage, because I'm not sure it doesn't create an unrealistic expectation.
09:16Steve Phillips, you said what?
09:21You think, I mean, sure.
09:26One thing I know about Steve Phillips, right?
09:29The guy knows the game.
09:31He's been a GM in this league.
09:35So, you'd think that what he's saying, it's like some fan making it up.
09:42Am I wrong?
09:442, 4, 8, 5, 3, 9, 97, 97.
09:47What do you make of that?
09:50What do you make of that?
09:52Could that possibly be true?
09:57I feel like the Tigers would have to sweeten the deal significantly.
10:02But I would take that in a heartbeat.
10:072, 4, 8, 5, 3, 9, 97, 97.
10:10It's Carson Anderson.
10:11Gator out today.
10:1297-1.
