Rico Beard leads the crew through another edition of "Can We Say That?" on The Valenti Show with Rico! The guys tackle topics across sports and culture, debating whether we’ve reached the end of college football's absurd buyout contracts, if Lamar Jackson has taken his final snap in Baltimore, and how Tom Brady is actually performing in the broadcast booth.

00:07gentlemen you know what we all don't agree on a lot of things but i do think the four of
00:12us
00:12in this room could all agree on my very first can we say that okay can we all say we
00:19will be
00:19so happy there is only one more day of political ads that we have to endure yes and then after
00:25that
00:26they all go away for now for two years we get a reprieve yeah i you know and i say
00:34this and look
00:34i don't control what our station does i don't control what tv stations do i think there should
00:40be a cap on this or if there's a cap i need the cap lowered it's too much but if
00:45i gotta hear one
00:46more time football is racist on our airwaves my head's gonna explode i mean it's just can we please
00:51five straight minutes of this person's bad no i'm this person and he's bad no no i represent that
00:58person and they're both bad correct vote for me yeah i agree no you can you can say that rico
01:03you
01:03can say that as loud as you could possibly a human could possibly say anything it's ridiculous this
01:08is like the last day of school when you were a kid like yes this is it you know monday
01:13night football
01:13is going to be a war zone of ads that's their true last stop at the okay last train stop
01:22when
01:22one of the candidates puts on the headsets like he's uh doing in the announcements like oh dear
01:27wait what am i watching is this ai all right sorry david yes okay you know what the worst is
01:32when
01:33you're watching a college football game from another part of the country and those ads leak through
01:39buddy oh or just regular uh in a field games and i'm like why do i care what's happening in
01:45texas i
01:46who oh this person boy oh this person he hates cows okay i did see that ad the guy was
01:53standing at
01:54like the fort worth stockyards or whatever it was i'll bring the beef back i go what am i on
01:59i can't do
02:00this and there's nothing like randomly being annoyed by some congressperson in colorado for five seconds
02:05yeah yes i agree with you in the face all right next let's get back to sports i figured you
02:14guys
02:15would like i do can we say uh lamar jackson has played his last snap in baltimore contract coming
02:22up i think he will be moved on to a different team you know what i'd like to do i'd
02:27like to cede my time
02:29i have nothing to say and i'd cede my time to the senator from garden city
02:37or canton or whatever low-ranked football program listen listen listen listen i'm done with lamar
02:44jackson i can't do this anymore you're not healthy you're always getting like he already missed what
02:51three games this year and then you come back and on the first play first drive whatever it was
02:56you you messed your thumb up and now you're done for the year you know what i don't care where
03:01he
03:02goes next year it won't matter because he won't win into his 30s that's the message
03:09paul sir uh the new york jets are going to be calling in the offseason and we all know that's
03:13going to happen oh oh no if he doesn't resign with baltimore because they might actually try to
03:20resign him uh you know what i think baltimore just may say let's go into that quarterback draft
03:26and see what's out there just say they might come empty on that though too it's not been a great
03:32class like everyone thought it would be that is true guys can we say that uh juice scruggs should
03:38be your starting center for the detroit lions i know you paid k mays to come here but the run
03:44game took
03:45off when a certain guy got placed back at center you know what i'll take the slander yes i think
03:53you were right about it i understood why the team did what they did but now that kade mays was
03:59bad in
04:00his return and then got hurt now and there's almost a direct correlation to this thing getting right when
04:08juice scruggs got back in i'll say yes yeah i mean i i agree with mike they brad holmes needed
04:16a
04:16center he went on two centers it just so happens the better one might be the one he paid less
04:20to get
04:21and holmes did a really nice job getting a player in that montgomery deal and scruggs changes scenery
04:28um he's just played at a higher level here yeah he's taking advantage of the opportunity he was
04:33coming in to be a backup just kind of fill in on the offensive line he got the job and
04:39was like
04:40i don't care i i you can pay me whatever yeah i'm your guy it's it's working it also helps
04:45that's a
04:46really good question it also helps that in practice he went against the texans defense that does a lot
04:50of similar things to what flores likes to do you know what i even think about that paul you're going
04:54up against well what used to be a good defense paul got it he just said a lot i didn't
05:00even think
05:00about that i don't even have to say a word can we say that tom brady's actually pretty good on
05:07television i i was reluctant at first because i thought he was just kind of handed the job he was
05:12but as i keep listening he's pretty good at doing this and i hate to say that all right two
05:19things
05:19he was handed the job and that's the problem because he was god awful you're telling me experience
05:26reps training analysis producers he could improve yes that's the point he shouldn't have been handed
05:33the gig i will say he's getting better what i don't need is every time there's a big play him
05:39screaming oh we could probably find something a little bit better than that he's better than he was
05:46he's far from great but i'll meet in the middle somebody well he's got to replace the oh jim
05:52you could replace tony romo with a brick which is what they've done with jj watt
05:58i i'll agree i i think he's gotten better i think he's okay i i see he's still not my
06:02favorite but i
06:03it is nice to see a athlete that's a color commentator that was actually legitimately great
06:08at their job in the profession they're commentating about because so many guys like even on espn it's
06:14littered with guys that weren't any good in the nfl telling you telling these great players how they
06:18should actually play paul wait he's got two super bowl rings he was on the bench okay everybody got
06:23it hiring trent dilfer's one step from hiring us i do like what he's become um he just keeps it
06:32simple
06:32now like just tell us yesterday just tell us what golf is saying at the line how we setting up
06:37the block that's the scheme just just keep it simple that's all i need from tom brady
06:43guys can we say that we will probably see the end of the big contract buyouts in college football
06:49with mike norvell being the latest like from here on out buyouts will not be this ridiculous amount
06:55of money that we're going to be paying you 50 million dollars to not coach anymore oh man that's
07:00a great question no question mark like i know it should because now we've expedited getting rid of
07:11coaches based on the wild west format of the sport but then who's going to be if one school stands
07:18up
07:19and says no there's always going to be an lsu to say we don't care so i'll say no so
07:25you're paying
07:25three coaches like msu you're you're right that it should but your question was will it so my answer is
07:33no okay but man you're right i'm going to say no because as we've seen in college football
07:40it's all about money and people love to do dumb things with the money they have so they'll there's
07:45going to be schools that are willing to throw stupid amount of money to steal coaches away from
07:49other programs and we'll give them whatever they want and it might come back to bite them so i think
07:53as long as the money is what it is that's going to keep happening i'm going to say yes we've
07:58seen the
07:59last of it i think with the way college football is now where players are going from year to year
08:05it's almost you see two or three coaches from year to year now going from this program to that
08:10program to that program so i think it's over now i think the you know you may like hit a
08:14mac and i
08:14can't believe a max 20 million dollar max buyout still 20 million dollars but it's not 75 million
08:23you're not just funding this coach's you know generational wealth that's can we say that 97 one
08:29you.
