00:10O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:17O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:26Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
00:32is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:39Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:49I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
00:59I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.
01:09God from God, light from light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the
01:19Father.
01:20Through him all things were made.
01:23For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of
01:31the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:35For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:39He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:46He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:52He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
01:59I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father,
02:06who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:14I believe in one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
02:18I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:22and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
02:30Amen.
02:33The Lord be with you, and also with you.
02:39Let us pray.
02:42Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:45Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:48Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:53Our Father in heaven, holy is your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is
03:03in heaven.
03:05Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:16Do not allow us to fall into temptation, but deliver us from every evil.
03:23Amen.
03:27O Lord, have mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
03:35Bless your ministers with righteousness, and make your chosen people joyful.
03:44O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
03:51Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other that fights for it, but only you, O
03:59God.
04:02O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:07Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:15The book of Proverbs, chapter 9.
04:19Wisdom has built her house.
04:22She has carved out its seven pillars.
04:25She has prepared her meat.
04:27She has mixed her wine.
04:29She has also arranged her table.
04:32She has sent out her female servants.
04:35She calls out of the highest places of the city.
04:40Whoever is naive, let him turn in here, she says to those who lack understanding.
04:46Come, eat of my food, and drink of my wine that I have mixed.
04:52Abandon your foolish ways, that you may live, and proceed in the way of understanding.
05:00Whoever corrects a mocker is asking for insult.
05:04Whoever reproves a wicked person receives abuse.
05:10Do not reprove a mocker, or he will hate you.
05:14But reprove a wise person, and he will love you.
05:20Give instruction to a wise person, and he will become wiser still.
05:25Teach a righteous person, and he will add to his learning.
05:31The beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord, and acknowledging the Holy One is understanding.
05:39For because of me, your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
05:47If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage.
05:51But if you are a mocker, you alone must bear it.
05:57The woman called Folly is brash.
05:59She is naive, and does not know anything.
06:03And so she sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city,
06:09calling out to those who are passing by her, in the way, who go straight on their way.
06:17Whoever is simple, let him turn in here, she says to those who lack understanding.
06:24Stolen waters are sweet, and food obtained in secret is pleasant.
06:31But they do not realise that the dead are in there, and that her guests are in the depths of
06:37the grave.
06:39This is the word of the Lord.
06:42Thanks be to God.
17:34The Acts of the Apostles, chapters 21 and 22.
17:42as Paul was about to be taken into the barracks he said to the commanding officer may I say
17:49something to you the officer replied do you know Greek then you're not the Egyptian who started
17:58the rebellion and led the 4,000 men of the assassins into the wilderness some time ago
18:05Paul answered I am a Jew from Tarsus in Cilicia a citizen of an important city please allow me
18:15to speak to the people when the commanding officer had given him permission Paul stood
18:24on the steps and gestured to the people with his hand when they had become silent
18:32he addressed them in Aramaic brothers and fathers listen to my defense that I now make to you when
18:42they heard him preach in Aramaic they became even quieter then Paul said I am a Jew I was born
18:53in
18:53Tarsus in Cilicia brought up in this city educated with strictness under Gamaliel according to the
19:01law of our ancestors and was jealous for God just as all of you are today I persecuted this way
19:11even to the point of death tying up both men and women and putting them in prison as both the
19:20high
19:20priest and the whole council of elders can testify about me from them I received letters to the brothers
19:30in Damascus and I was on my way to make arrests there and bring prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished
19:38as I was on my way and nearing Damascus about noon a very bright light from heaven flashed around me
19:45I fell
19:48to the ground and I heard a voice saying to me Saul Saul why are you persecuting me I answered
19:56who are you
19:58my Lord he said to me I am Jesus the Nazarene the one you are persecuting now those who were
20:08with me saw
20:09the light but they did not understand the voice of the one who was speaking to me so I asked
20:16what should I do Lord
20:21the Lord said to me get up and go into Damascus and there you will be told everything that you
20:27have been designated to do
20:31since I could not see because of the brilliance of that light I came to Damascus led by the hand
20:37of those who were with me
20:41a man named Ananias a devout man according to the law well spoken of by all the Jews who lived
20:48there came to me
20:50and stood beside me and said to me brother Saul regain your sight
20:57and I looked up and saw him
21:00he said the God of our ancestors has chosen you to know his will
21:06to see the righteous one and to hear a command from his mouth
21:11because you will be his witness to all
21:14the people of what you have seen and heard
21:19now
21:19what is it you wait for get up
21:22be baptized and have your sins washed away
21:25calling on his name
21:31when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple
21:35I fell into a trance and I saw the Lord saying to me
21:39hurry get out of Jerusalem quickly
21:42because they will not accept your testimony about me
21:47I replied
21:49Lord they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat
21:53those in the synagogues who believed in you
21:57when the blood of your witness Stephen was shed
22:00I myself was standing there
22:02approving and guarding the cloaks of those who were killing him
