00:06O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing your praise.
00:13O God, make speed to save us. O Lord, make haste to help us.
00:22Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
00:26as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
00:36Let us praise the Lord. The Lord's name be praised.
00:45I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
00:51of all things visible and invisible.
00:56I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God,
01:01born of the Father before all ages.
01:05God from God, light from light, true God from true God,
01:11begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father.
01:16Through him all things were made.
01:19For us men, and for our salvation, he came down from heaven,
01:24and by the Holy Spirit, was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
01:31For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
01:35He suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
01:42He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
01:48He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
01:52and his kingdom will have no end.
01:56I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
02:00who proceeds from the Father, who with the Father and the Son,
02:04is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
02:10I believe in one holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.
02:15I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins,
02:18and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
02:22and the life of the world to come.
02:26Amen.
02:29The Lord be with you,
02:32and also with you.
02:35Let us pray.
02:38Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:41Christ, have mercy upon us.
02:44Lord, have mercy upon us.
02:49Our Father in heaven,
02:52holy is your name,
02:54your kingdom come,
02:56your will be done,
02:58on earth as it is in heaven.
03:01Give us today our daily bread,
03:04and forgive us our trespasses,
03:07as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:12Do not allow us to fall into temptation,
03:16but deliver us from every evil.
03:20Amen.
03:23O Lord, have mercy upon us,
03:26and grant us your salvation.
03:31Bless your ministers with righteousness,
03:34and make your chosen people joyful.
03:40O Lord, save your people,
03:43O Lord, save your people,
03:43and bless your inheritance.
03:47Give peace in our time, O Lord,
03:50because there is none other that fights for it,
03:53but only you, O God.
03:57O God, make clean our hearts within us.
04:02Do not take your Holy Spirit from us.
04:11The book of Proverbs, chapter 21.
04:16The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord,
04:18like channels of water.
04:20He turns it wherever he wants.
04:24All of a person's ways seem right in his own opinion,
04:27but the Lord evaluates the motives.
04:31To do righteousness and justice
04:33is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
04:38Haughty eyes and a proud heart,
04:41the agricultural product of the wicked is sin.
04:46The plans of the diligence lead only to plenty,
04:50but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
04:56Making a fortune by a lying tongue
04:59is like a vapour driven back and forth.
05:02They seek death.
05:04The violence done by the wicked will drag them away
05:07because they refuse to do what is right.
05:16It is better to live on the corner of the housetop
05:24than in a house in company with a quarrelsome wife.
05:29The appetite of the wicked desires evil.
05:34His neighbour is shown no favour in his eyes.
05:39When a scorner is punished,
05:42the naive becomes wise.
05:44When a wise person is instructed,
05:47he gains knowledge.
05:51The righteous one considers the house of the wicked.
05:54He overthrows the wicked to their ruin.
05:58The one who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor,
06:03he too will cry out and will not be answered.
06:07A gift given in secret subdues anger,
06:12and a bribe given secretly subdues strong wrath.
06:17Doing justice brings joy to the wretches
06:20and terror to those who do evil.
06:24The one who wanders from the way of wisdom
06:26will end up in the company of the departed.
06:31The one who loves pleasure will be a poor person.
06:34Whoever loves wine and anointing oil will not be rich.
06:39The wicked become a ransom for the wretches,
06:42and the faithless are taken in the place of the upright.
06:48It is better to live on a desert island
06:51than with a quarrelsome and easily provoked woman.
06:57There is more desirable treasure and olive oil
07:00in the dwelling of the wise.
07:03But a foolish person devours all that he has.
07:08The one who pursues righteousness and love
07:11finds life, bounty and honour.
07:16The wise person can scale the city of the mighty
07:19and bring down the stronghold in which they trust.
07:24The one who guards his mouth and his tongue
07:26keeps his life from trouble.
07:30A proud and arrogant person
07:33whose name is scoffer
07:34acts with overbearing pride.
07:39What the slugger desires will kill him
07:42for his hands have refused to work.
07:45All day long he craves greedily
07:48but the righteous gives and does not hold back.
07:53The wicked person's sacrifice
07:55is an abomination.
07:57How much more when he brings it with evil intent.
08:02A lying witness will perish
08:04but the one who reports accurately
08:06speaks forever.
08:09A wicked person
08:10shows boldness with his face
08:12but as for the upright
08:15he discerns his ways.
08:18There is no wisdom
08:20and there is no understanding
08:21and there is no counsel
08:23against the Lord.
08:26A horse is prepared
08:27for the day of battle
08:28but the victory
08:30is from the Lord.
08:33This
08:33is the word of the Lord.
08:36Thanks be to God.

20:06Let my prayer be set forth in thy sight as Jesus,

23:30The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 28
23:36After we had safely reached shore, we'd learned that the island was called Malta.
23:42The local inhabitants showed us extraordinary kindness, building a fire and welcoming us all, because it had started to rain
23:51and was cold.
23:54When Paul had gathered a bundle of brushwood and was putting it on the fire, a viper came out because
24:00of the heat and fastened itself on his hand.
24:04When the local people saw the creature hanging from Paul's hand, they said to one another,
24:10No doubt this man is a murderer, for although he has escaped the sea, justice herself has not allowed him
24:17to live.
24:20However, Paul shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.
24:25But they were all expecting he was going to swell up or suddenly drop dead.
24:32So after they had waited a long time and seen nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and
24:38said that he was a god.
24:44Now in the region around that place were fields belonging to the chief official of the island, named Publius, who
24:51welcomed us and entertained us hospitably as guests for three days.
24:57The father of Publius lay sick in bed, suffering from fever and dysentery.
25:02Paul went in to see him and, after praying, placed his hands on him and healed him.
25:09After this happened, many of the people on the island who were sick also came and were healed.
25:16They bestowed many honours and when we were preparing to leave, they gave us all the supplies that we needed.
25:24After three months, we put out to sea in an Alexandrian ship that had wintered on the island and had
25:31the heavenly twins as its figurehead.
25:35We put in at Syracuse and stayed there for three days.
25:40From there we cast off and arrived with Regium and after a day a south wind sprang up and on
25:48the second day we came to Putiole.
25:51There we found some brothers and were invited to stay with them for seven days.
25:57And in this way we came to Rome.
26:00The brothers from there, when they heard about us, had come as far as the Foran of Appius and the
26:06three taverns to meet us.
26:09When he saw them, Paul thanked God and took courage.
26:14This is the word of the Lord.
26:17Thanks be to God.
26:24Collect for Peace
26:27O God, who is the author of peace and lover of concord,
26:31in knowledge of whom stands our eternal life, whose service is perfect freedom,
26:38defend us, your humble servants, in all assaults of our enemies,
26:43that we, surely trusting in your defence, may not fear the power of any adversaries.
26:50Through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
26:54Amen.
26:59Collect for our safe preservation
27:02O Lord, our Heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God,
27:06who has safely brought us to the beginning of this day,
27:10defend us in the same with your mighty power,
27:13and grant that this day we fall into no sin,
27:18neither run into any kind of danger,
27:21but that all our doings may be ordered
27:24by your governance
27:26to do always that which is righteous in your sight.
27:31Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
27:34Amen.
27:38Lord, let me accept calmly all that this day might bring me,
27:43and let me devote myself completely to your sacred will.
27:48Direct me and help me each hour of this day.
27:53Control my thoughts and feelings in all my deeds and words.
27:58When unpredictable circumstances arise,
28:02do not let me forget that everything comes from you.
28:07Lord Jesus, Son of God,
28:09it is better not to live than to live without you.
28:13I thank you, God, for the gift of this new day
28:16and for all the good deeds you will help me do today.
28:23Holy Spirit, help me to dedicate this day
28:26to my Lord and Saviour.
28:29Teach me to be just toward my brother and sister,
28:33never to provoke wrath or cause sorrow.
28:37Control my will and teach me to pray,
28:41to believe, to hope, to suffer,
28:44to forgive and to love.
28:47Amen.
28:52We pray for the work of your faithful servants
28:55throughout the world, Lord.
28:58Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
29:04May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
29:07the love of God,
29:09and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
29:12be with us all today and forevermore.
