00:46Paul, the Allegheny County Health Department says it has confirmed 11 cases of cyclosporiasis
00:52and is working with state and federal health officials to determine whether they're connected.
00:57The illness is caused by the parasite cyclospora and is typically linked to contaminated food or water,
01:03not person-to-person spread.
01:05Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, and weight loss,
01:11usually developing about a week after exposure.
01:14If you develop symptoms, health officials say to contact your health care provider.
01:18The illness requires special testing to diagnose and is treated with a prescription antibiotic.
01:24Residents are also reminded to thoroughly wash fresh produce before eating or preparing it.

01:33Allegheny County Executive Sarah Inamorato announced last night she is pregnant.
01:38And I'm expecting to give birth to my first child this year.
01:41It'll be a boy, she says, and that came to light during Inamorato's quarterly address to county council.
01:46She's advocating for a proposal to require employers to provide 18 weeks of paid parental leave.
01:52The county executive claims the policy's impact would be minimal.
01:56Researchers anticipate that employers can expect about 1.7 percent of the workforce to qualify for the policy per year.

02:09They say the proposal is too costly.
02:11The earliest council could vote on it is in the fall.
