00:02Hello, it is Sunday the 16th of August and this is your weekly weather forecast for WA.
00:08Unfortunately, it's another very dry week for Western Australia. There is not a lot of rainfall
00:14behind the system that's moving through at the start of the week and then it's continuously
00:19dominated by high pressure so not a lot of rainfall on the way. We'll have a breakdown but
00:25yeah, it's still very, very dry over there. All right, this is the Sunday daily rainfall totals,
00:31no rain on the way. You can see this high pressure system is sitting down here
00:38in the east driving some pretty strong southerly so it could be quite chilly and then there's just
00:44off in the distance here the next front that's moving through which should hit WA on Monday and
00:50starting to deliver the rain of the week. So that's sort of 2 to 5 mils anywhere and then
00:5810 to 15 mils if you're very much in this little western coast bit. There's this sort of tropical
01:08feature up here but I don't think it makes its way onto land on Tuesday. Yeah, it sort of dies
01:12out
01:13before it hits land. Okay, cool. It dries out again on Tuesday and it remains dry on Wednesday.
01:20We start to get a little bit of this tropical moisture feed through but as you can see it
01:25doesn't hit a lot of WA so there's not a bunch of rainfall there. Thursday it does intensify but
01:31again only 2 to 5 mils so a light shower and then it should be the same here for Friday
01:37as well.
01:38You can see this high pressure sits over the Bight really suppressing and sinking the air
01:43meaning that there's no rainfall down in the south here. Saturday similar story and Sunday we have
01:51the next system rolling through here. Now at the moment it's not looking very strong but this is
01:58again like seven days away so the forecast isn't super resolute there. You can see this is sort of
02:08this is a little high yeah this is another high pressure system here so it's just really sort of
02:15channeling a little bit of moisture through there but yeah it won't be much and we'll see how the
02:21models spin that towards the end of the week. I think that's not a super representative look of
02:26to what it could be next Sunday. Okay let's have a look at yeah let's have a look at wind.
02:34So as we
02:35said that front arrives on Monday so we'll go through to Monday and just have a look at the winds
02:41associated with it. Cool so there's definitely some strong winds available there the pressure gradients
02:48are relatively close together gusting 63 to 90 kilometers an hour so definitely some strong wind
02:54possible there. That sticks around for a little bit but by Tuesday yeah Tuesday we can see that high
03:05move in and start to suppress that motion and it should yeah clear out sort of by Tuesday so when
03:11that rain leaves really is when it will start to still in terms of the wind. Looking at temperature
03:18we said that there could be some pretty cold southerlies at the start of the week so let's
03:24have a look at that let's look at Monday morning 7 a.m. Nope it's really quite warm 10 to
03:3015 degrees
03:31here in the morning which means I'm expecting a bit of cloud for it to be that warm that early
03:37so
03:37definitely a bit of cloud overnight tonight and then let's have a look as the day warms 15 to 20
03:45degrees
03:45cool so pretty standard temperatures for what we would expect for sort of mid-august there. Up here
03:51in the north again really standard seeing pretty consistent temperature bars down there we'll just
03:59have a quick look through it gets super hot as the week goes on. Nope that's all looking pretty standard
04:09there cool all right looking at our forecast I've just picked Perth this week because I think it's
04:16actually a bit representative of the fact that there's not a lot of rainfall on the way with
04:21these systems so Monday when the main system rolls through that's eight mils for Perth but if we look
04:27here this is the AI model so we can see the different sorry this isn't the AI model this is
04:33the pro version
04:33so we can see the different model components there's not a lot of confidence behind that rainfall
04:39so each of these different colors is what the different model is spinning and you can see there's
04:46not a lot of agreeance amongst them and that's why we're seeing anywhere between 4 and 12 mils so
04:52yeah a bit of a gap there in confidence and then it dries out really really quickly so you know
04:59pretty
04:59much nothing for the rest of the week there just on Tuesday when that high starts to settle in we
05:06start to see some risk of fog but I don't expect widespread heavy fog for the week yeah I'm just
05:14not
05:15seeing that amongst a lot of the forecasts maybe they're on Thursday in the morning and then clears
05:20up by Friday so yeah that's it for WA let's have a quick look at the rainfall accumulation that we'll
05:27see
05:27this week this is where it really shows us that it's quite low so this is potential rainfall across
05:33the seven days this darker blue here is five to ten mils and what it what it I why I'm
05:41pointing that
05:42out is because I've said that there's a bit of that sort of tropical moisture connection seeing that
05:46band of moisture here along the center of WA it's quite widespread and where it could fall but
05:54where it falls it's still not delivering very high totals there and then down here in the south we're
06:00only seeing sort of 10 to maybe possibly 25 mils which will reach there on Monday with that singular
06:07system sort of coming across okay that is the weather this week for WA if you're interested in
06:13our seasonal outlook that will be available in our national weather video so you can check that out
06:18we will be discussing um sort of actually WA's sort of current stance on where rainfall is and the
06:26long-term um seasonal forecast of where it's showing that rainfall will move as the year progresses
06:32okay hopefully we'll see you there have a good week stay safe and we'll see you next time
