00:23SEA examination on the prescribed day was overwhelming.
00:27He's going to miss SEA, he might have to repeat, but the whole grand scheme of things was that you're
00:38seeing your son laying up in a bed and you would think this is a major shift in his academic
00:45life and he's missing an important milestone.
00:48But here he is laying up in a bed for surgery. It was very scary.
00:53Diagnosed with slipped capital femoral, a condition where the bowl of the hip slips off the neck of the femur,
01:02unique to adolescence.
01:04Officer Williams told the TV6 News his son eventually had the opportunity to sit the SEA exam as he hopped
01:12into the room at the Scarborough Library with the use of crutches.
01:16Well, after surgery, which was SEA examination day, of course, we were informed by the principal that he would be
01:25able to sit the supplemental examination.
01:28We were looking at the end of, I believe it was supposed to be in May or somewhere like that,
01:35but it happened that it was three weeks after his surgery and he was able to get the all clear
01:41to have, be able to sit.
01:43Even though he was on his crutches for the two days, for the day of the exam, he still was
01:47able to go into that examination and put his best foot forward.
01:52Officer Williams said it was a trying time for her family, as after surgery, she stayed at hospital for one
02:00week at her son's bedside.
02:02She thanks the TTBS for their support during the process.
02:07I was able to be with my child for that period.
02:10I was visited by my seniors there and I was supported tremendously and it took the burden off of having
02:22to worry about work because my son needed me more.
02:27Today, Matthias is walking, running and sometimes his mommy has to tell him, slow down as the recovery process remains
02:36ongoing.
