Health Secretary Dr Faith Brebnor says investing in the Tobago Health sector remains paramount.

00:00What we're doing right now is investing in the future of health care in Tobago.
00:07What the Tobago Regional Health Authority is doing right now is investing in every single one of you.
00:16This is a choice that we're making.
00:18It's a choice because, honestly, we are strapped for cash.
00:23But we are still choosing to do this kind of program, which costs us because we really are investing in you.
00:36This year marks the third staging of the initiative, which is being held under the theme,
00:41Empowering Our Youth to Become Future Leaders.
00:45The event seeks to officially welcome the new cohort of interns and set the tone for the successful execution of the program.
00:53Over 60 of these interns would be spread across the Tobago Health Institutions,
00:59inclusive of the Scarborough General Hospital, the Roxburgh Hospital, and health centers.
01:05Dr. Brebner called on the interns to not waste the opportunity before them.
01:10Because leadership, especially in health, is not just something that you stumble into.
01:17And I'm glad you said it, my dear.
01:19It is not just something that you stumble into.
01:21It is something that you grow into.
01:24You grow into it with mentorship, with support, with knowledge,
01:27and with this thing that you have now, which is opportunity.

01:42Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the TRHA, Dr. Dalman Baker, in delivering remarks, said the internship was more than just work,
01:53but the TRHA's continued commitment towards the delivery of the best health care to the island and the people of Tobago,
