00:30Yannis Racelis, once again, there in third, and a fast-starting Julius Miquelá.
00:34Wow, how close was that? Twice for Sascha Coelhan, at the top of the hill, the bottom of the hill.
00:38All of a sudden, he finds himself just kind of saying,
00:41wow, let's just steady the ship with a P, shall we, for now?
00:45And really, his starts have not been that great.
00:47I know he's sitting fourth, he was second in the first corner,
00:49but just his normal execution off the line, where he's the quickest one,
00:53always kind of coming through there first, hasn't been there.
00:55And you can just see how treacherous it is.
00:57So we talked about this during the break, more water going down.
01:00These first few laps are going to be really tricky again.
01:03Yeah, Ferez continues to lead then.
01:05Racelis there in second, Coonan third, Mikula fourth,
01:09Evertz in fifth, Langenfelder, Carsmakers,
01:11Carlos Racelis, Camden McClellan nine,
01:13another four-start for him.
01:15And then Latter in tenth place.
01:19See the work that's gone down on the track,
01:21and you can see how wet and sort of wishy-washy certain parts are.
01:24A little bit sluggish, and we see there from Evertz,
01:26lighting up the back end.
01:28He realized he was in trouble there as well.
01:30Looked across to be defensive, to stop Mikula coming through.
01:33And while he was doing that, Langenfelder to his outside.
01:36So three riders into that left turn now.
01:39And Langenfelder was almost a benefactor.
01:42Evertz hanging on to that fourth place.
01:45A lot of water being put down in some of the sections.
01:47So vision, front tire, traction,
01:49look how muddy it is on the outside there.
01:52These MX2 guys have really been up against it all day
01:55with track conditions.
01:55It does start to come in,
01:57but these first few laps are really challenging.
01:59And that was part of the problem for Sacha Kunin in race one.
02:01The rhythm section down the back end
02:03where we saw Mikula and Evertz
02:05just kind of almost leaning into each other.
02:07That's where Sacha Kunin just maybe spun up on takeoff,
02:10didn't get the height.
02:11Mikula down the inside, but not for long.
02:13Evertz responds immediately,
02:15maintains that fourth place.
02:16Did it rain in between races, Paul?
02:18I don't believe so.
02:19I never went out during the break.
02:21I was out there, and it's actually one of the nicest days
02:24I can remember.
02:25But wow, did they get a lot of water put down
02:27between races here.
02:28Yeah, it'll soon disperse and dissipate.
02:31Normally it's MX or WMX that get the short end
02:34of the straw in that respect.
02:35This time it's MX2.
02:36Mikula, nothing to lose.
02:37He charges down the inside of Evertz
02:39for what, the third time so far.
02:41Gives to Belgian a quick look as he goes by
02:43and tries to launch an attack around the outside here.
02:46Evertz bounces off the wall.
02:48And in the end, Mikula does go through into fourth.
02:51But you would expect the factory Husqvarna
02:53to come back here and make that pass stick
02:55unless they're going to...
02:56Well, he's showing them a wheel,
02:57showing them a little bit of attitude
02:59as they say out in your part of the world.
03:01Yeah.
03:02Yeah.
03:02Liam had the inside there,
03:04but you could see just the subtle leaning
03:07like Liam was trying to squeeze Mikula
03:09over the finish line there.
03:11It's really been that type of racetrack
03:13where I mentioned earlier in MXGP,
03:14you have to race each other almost,
03:16where you can't just really worry about the racetrack.
03:18These guys have really been worried about positioning
03:20against each other most of the day.
03:21Well, while we're watching these two battle over 4th, 5th place,
03:25Liam Evertz on the Nostan Husqvarna here,
03:27number 26,
03:28and Julius Mikula on the privateer Osichka KTM
03:32from Czech Republic.
03:34Gim Ferez has extended his lead at the top of the...
03:36at the lead here for 2.5 seconds over Yanis Reislis.
03:40Yanis Reislis was second in race 1.
03:43He's second in race 2 at the moment.
03:45This downhill Dragon's back is catching a few riders out.
03:48Again, spinning up on the take-off.
03:49There's Ferez in the opposite direction.
03:52And here is Carsmakers on the green Kawasaki.
03:57Dixon Racing Team Kawasaki,
03:58the number 33 from the Netherlands.
04:00He's got Carless Reislis behind him in 8th place.
04:02Camden McClellan on the 2nd of the Factory Triumphs.
04:05He's there in 9th place,
04:07eating a face full of roost look.
04:08As you said, a beautiful rainy summer's day here in Portugal.
04:12And then Lata there in 10th place.
04:14Yeah, there's so much roost being thrown right now.
04:17If you're anywhere near the rider in front of you,
04:20you're almost guaranteed to have to pull a tear off
04:22in the next section as you see Reislis grab one there.
04:26A little bit of roost out the rear wheel there
04:27of the Kawasaki coming out of that turn
04:29as he powers his way forward,
04:31trying to close in on Simon Langenfelder,
04:33the defending champion number one.
04:34But that gap between those two,
04:362.3 seconds as it stands right now.
04:39Two laps complete as they hit the line this time around.
04:41The 47th of Carlos Reislis on that Monster Energy Yamaha.
04:44Under attack here from Camden McClellan on the Triumph,
04:49who's looking desperately for a way through
04:51at the top of the hill there, turn five.
04:54Good start this for the 47th of Carlos Reislis.
04:57He was 10th in the first race.
04:59But his younger brother, 2.2, he's looking at
05:02for his first MX2 podium, second overall.
05:06More on that, though, as the race unfolds.
05:08But 25 minutes plus two laps to go.
05:10Perez continues to lead by almost three seconds
05:12from Giannis Reislis and Sasha Kunin,
05:14the championship leader.
05:26Continuing on then into lap three
05:27to see where they've just kind of ripped the track up
05:30a little bit and then flooded those areas.
05:32That's where it's a little bit sludgy and boggy almost.
05:36Yeah, difficult conditions again for the riders.
05:38Complete opposite to what they had this time of day
05:40yesterday in the qualifying race.
05:41But, you know, you can see how dry the track is
05:44in some parts, which is why they've kind of
05:46counteracted that with change in other parts, let's say.
05:49Yeah, and I do think the MXGP riders
05:52will be the benefactor of all this.
05:54It's going to be a great racetrack later.
05:55But tough conditions right here.
05:57And really, this is the kind of track
05:59where you need that good start.
06:00And McClellan has done anything but that today.
06:02He has really had to fight against rough starts
06:04all afternoon.
06:05Yeah, you almost feel like they need roll-offs
06:06at the moment.
06:07Kevin McClellan pulling a couple of tear-offs
06:08behind raceless, moves past the Latvian.
06:12moves up into eighth place on lap three.
06:16You can see he's been absolutely roosted
06:19this whole race, these first three laps.
06:22Visibility has not been his friend so far.
06:24But if you can find this way,
06:25Pascales raceless, you see the gap
06:26at the top of the hill there,
06:27up towards sort of Micola-Langenfelder.
06:31These two riders here gets clear air up until then.
06:34Hopefully the track dries out a little bit more
06:35between now and then.
06:37Of course, you know, by the time he does get under that reel,
06:39he's got tracks similar to where they're landing
06:40and these outside parts of the track
06:42here, where it's just a little bit dry.
06:48We're getting ready to go down to pit lane in a moment
06:50because obviously one rider who's missing here this weekend
06:53as Simon Langenfelder launches an attack up the inside
06:56of Julius Mikola, finds his way past.
06:58That's his fourth, fifth place.
07:03We're going down to talk to Mattis Valen,
07:05the Kawasaki rider in a moment.
07:11But as you can see, Simon Langenfelder
07:13putting in a good charge here once again
07:14as he moves up in the fifth position
07:18behind him.
07:19This battle here.
07:21Kai Carsmakers, McClellan, Kawasaki versus Triumph.
07:26McClellan with a slightly cleaner line.
07:27He's going to have to commit to the outside here
07:29if he's going to try and get the job done.
07:30But look at that.
07:31Smart right in there from the 33 of Carsmakers.
07:33Decided, well, if you're going to go outside,
07:35I'm just going to nip to the inside as well.
07:37Left the door open here at the end.
07:39Perfect move that for McClellan
07:40as he moves into seventh place here on lap four.
07:51Battles continue in MX2 race two here.
07:54Cameron McClellan just found his way past Kai Carsmakers
07:57who has the Latvian carless raceless behind him
07:59as he lights up and rooster marshal there
08:02through the exit of that turn.
08:03Cameron McClellan now seventh.
08:05Carsmakers still in eighth on the 33,
08:07the 47 on the Yamaha there in ninth place
08:09and latter in tenth.
08:11So, Matisse Valland fell in the qualifying race yesterday
08:16that had to be red flagged and restarted.
08:19Here, he jumped long on the step up,
08:22hands off the bars.
08:23He went down hard.
08:25That's the reason he's not lining up today.
08:27He is up.
08:28He is well.
08:29He's just a bit secondhand.
08:31Here he is with Lisa Leyland down in pit lane.
08:40Matisse Valland, not the kind of interviews I like doing,
08:42but we just saw you in the qualifying race yesterday.
08:45You went down quite hard at the lead.
08:47What actually happened?
08:48And most importantly, are you okay?
08:51Yeah, glad I'm okay.
08:52I mean, it was a big one, a big moment,
08:54but I'm really happy to be on my two feet today.
08:57I mean, yeah, first lap I cased the triple,
09:00and then second lap I just went a little bit too far.
09:03So, yeah, just my own mistake.
09:05And, yeah, but I'm really lucky to be on two feet now
09:08and I have some examen tomorrow to see how I feel
09:12and hopefully see you in Africa.
09:15Okay, well, he'll up soon.
09:17Thank you.
09:18Thank you.
09:20Yeah, great to see him there walking around and all smiles.
09:24As we look at Guillem-Ferez here, 154, 478,
09:27another fastest lap from the Spaniard
09:28who just looks like he's invincible at the moment today,
09:31this weekend, looking for his first 1-1-1
09:33if he can bring it home in this second race.
09:36But, yeah, Antti Piranen, I went and saw him this morning.
09:39Take a look at the restart first, though.
09:42Ferez inside gate.
09:43Coonan alongside him.
09:45The orange of Mikula keeping it on when others back down.
09:49He emerged in, what, third, fourth place at the top of the hill once again.
09:52He grabbed the whole shot and raised one.
09:56Captain McClellan getting squeezed here, and that's the disadvantage.
09:59The further out you go, if you can't get across,
10:01you will get punished, and McClellan getting punished there.
10:05But Antti Piranen, yeah, basically saying that,
10:07he said, how is Matisse?
10:09And he said, Paul, he's feeling secondhand,
10:12but he feels like he's been hit by a bus.
10:16The bus driver backed over him again.
10:18He said, but you should have seen the state of the bus driving.
10:21He looked like he got hit by it.
10:22I expected to see him a little bit more okay than that.
10:26Yeah.
10:26You know, the neck brace there, a little unnerving.
10:29But that was the thing.
10:30He just said he had a stiff neck.
10:31All the X-rays have come back and said he's fine and whatever else,
10:34but it's just stiffness because he went down hard.
10:36Yeah, it was a big one.
10:37I was hopeful that he would be able to race today.
10:39Clearly, not prepared for that, but let's hope he's back next week.
10:43The gap between first and second, 4.7 seconds.
10:46The gap between second and third.
10:48Giannis Raceless only has 1.3 over the rider in blue here.
10:51Number 19, championship leader, Sasha Koonin.
10:53We're going to be down to 25 points, aren't we?
10:55If it stays like this, started at 41.
10:58Big gains, bigger gains than maybe for as expected this weekend so far.
11:02Home-ish GP.
11:04I know we're not in Spain, but we're close.
11:06I was actually walking-wise.
11:08He was on his way to Park Fermi there and a lot of yelling and cheering for Guillem-Perez.
11:13So I'm sure that's helping a bit.
11:14A little bit close to the upper side of that berm there that got blown out in race one.
11:20Sasha Koonin, of course, was very tentative through that left-hand corner a moment ago.
11:26But just doing his best to keep Giannis Raceless.
11:29So I wonder, actually, if Koonin has learnt his mistake from race one.
11:34Don't try and bust a gut on that opening lap, which is what he tried to do.
11:37Spun up.
11:38Yeah, other riders got over the double.
11:39It was his mistake.
11:40But then he's just maybe waiting for the racetrack to come to him.
11:44He's following a rookie in the class, Giannis Raceless,
11:46who got his first top three finish in race one earlier with that second place.
11:52may be expecting him to fade in the latter stages of the race.
11:55And if that's the case, then, of course, he can find his way into second, Sasha Koonin.
12:00It's another two points that he pulls back in the championship chase, takes him back out to 27.
12:04That'll be a job well done because, once again, like last week in Italy,
12:09wasn't his strongest weekend, but he did win the overall Grand Prix with two race wins.
12:13He'll be looking at potentially a podium here with a 6-2 if he manages to find his way past.
12:20He's fourth at the moment behind Langenfeld at one point in the drift.
12:23He certainly looks more sure of himself here, not near as many mistakes.
12:27And I think a lot of that is just the track coming in, being a little bit more easy to
12:30navigate.
12:32But I just wonder, is he giving away three more points?
12:36There may be nothing he can do about it.
12:38You know, Perez just seems to be in control of this race at the moment.
12:42But I guess when it's all said and done with Sasha, you kind of like to see the patience
12:48because that's something he hasn't exerted a lot of the time.
12:50But there's got to be some urgency in him somewhere,
12:53knowing that this can very well go down to 27, 25 points today.
12:58One thing he did need to do when he fell on this part of the racetrack in race one
13:02was obviously pick himself up and get forward as quickly as possible, which he did.
13:05It didn't come out.
13:06It didn't come without his issues and near misses and things like that.
13:10But he did pull back to sixth place, which did.
13:13Oh, Mikula!
13:15Mikula out of the race or just stalling at the side at least.
13:19But Julius Mikula losing valuable ground there, was having such a good race as well.
13:24But back to Sasha Kunin, maybe just thinking, you know what, that sixth place may be the difference
13:30because this one here, if he only can manage second place and it gets him on the podium,
13:35again, that's as good as a win in the greater scheme of things.
13:37Still leaves here with the championship leader's red plate.
13:39You've still got a, you know, minimum 25 point as it stands right now, which is a race, race win.
13:46You could get that back to 27, which is more than a race win, which is always a nice buffer
13:50to have.
13:51But maybe like Italy, not feeling it, not feeling the conditions and things like that,
13:56and just having to sort of suck it up and settle for second best, if you like.
14:01Yeah, not all that different than France either.
14:03It really wasn't his best day.
14:05We were talking about Langenfelder a lot that weekend, also not looking quite as good,
14:09where Perez seemed to be a little bit more on point.
14:12So shades of that French weekend here in Portugal.
14:17Good responses from Giannis Raceless on the Monster Energy Yamaha.
14:20He is the rider of the head of the 19 here on the Red Bull KTM.
14:24Testing the limits of the track there once again, Sasha Kyrnett.
14:28He does like to explore the outer limits.
14:30I don't know that it's always on purpose.
14:33He usually gets away with it.
14:35Guillem-Perez has said fastest lap after fastest lap three or four times,
14:38but that time around at the end of lap seven,
14:40the guy chasing him down, top of the screen, on that Yamaha,
14:44was about four tenths quicker last time around.
14:46154.
14:47Four.
14:48Zanke down.
14:50So Perucho, Zanke down from 16, 14, 15, 16th place, somewhere around there.
14:55Picks himself up.
14:56The Badini racing factory Ducati rider.
14:59Not having a great time in this second race.
15:02He was ninth in race one.
15:03Going to finish lower than that in race two.
15:07See the pit board there,
15:08messaging from the Carly team telling Sasha no clutch.
15:13I don't think that would be like a mechanical thing
15:16where they're trying to protect the motorcycle.
15:18It would probably be more to try to roll the corners.
15:20When you get that bike revved up,
15:21you start to break the rear loose.
15:23Just too many RPMs instead of rolling through the corners,
15:26have more momentum.
15:27So I think it's more of a,
15:28we'd like to see your technique change
15:30versus try to protect the motorcycle a bit.
15:33Just making one of two little errors here, isn't he?
15:35As he thinks about going after Janis Raceless, ahead of him.
15:39Here's Liam Evertz.
15:40A lonely ride in fourth place.
15:425-4 for him so far.
15:43That's going to be fifth overall for the Belgian.
15:47The Stambois looking on down there in pit lane.
15:53But as we head uphill,
15:54and with 14 and a half minutes plus two laps still to run,
15:58Guillem-Farrez is on a different planet.
16:00He's a man on a mission
16:01as he eyes up his first three-win haul.
16:13And Evertz returning to the venue.
16:15Of course, he was here last year,
16:16but up until this weekend,
16:17the only rider to have got a race win here.
16:19He got two of them in 2024.
16:21Him and Langerfeld are the only two riders
16:22to have finished on the podium
16:23because, obviously, other riders
16:25vacating the class to MXGP.
16:27So that's going to change this weekend
16:29because Perez is looking at
16:31adding his name on the win list
16:32and getting himself on the podium.
16:34So, too, Janis Raceless.
16:35And Langerfeld are on up a second podium here
16:38with his second, third place finish.
16:40Yeah, not so bad.
16:42You have to be kind of...
16:45I think for a lot of these guys,
16:48you're just trying to keep podiums in sight,
16:51try to keep racking up the points.
16:52We're halfway point, right?
16:53There's so much racing left.
16:55And especially for Liam,
16:57you know, two podiums on the season.
16:59See you make a big mistake there
17:00is probably just the track more than anything.
17:03Trying to build momentum for the second half.
17:05You know, that hasn't been,
17:07I don't think, the season
17:07that we have necessarily wanted.
17:10But there's still time.
17:11There's still time to get a race win.
17:12There's still time to rack up more podiums.
17:15Those deep ruts like that
17:16at the top of the hill, turn 14.
17:18They're going right the way down
17:19through that clay base.
17:20So it's very hard and edgy in there.
17:23Still got remnants of a little bit of moisture on there.
17:25As you see, Langenfelder having to back out of that
17:27because he swapped one way,
17:28then the next had to roll off the gas
17:29just to ride it out.
17:31But it's not easy.
17:33When those holes that you'll see later on in the day,
17:35MXGP race to,
17:36they will start to edge out a little bit.
17:38there'll be a lot more movement at the back end.
17:40And there's enough already at the moment
17:42where, like I say,
17:42as a track drying out,
17:44you're dragging that wet dirt
17:45onto those hard clay,
17:46almost blue groove areas.
17:48And that just almost turns it
17:50to a little bit of icy conditions, doesn't it?
17:53But Simo Langenfelder here
17:55in that fifth place.
17:56What is he?
17:56Two and a half seconds down on
18:00Everett?
18:00Actually, no.
18:0116.6 seconds down on Ellis now.
18:07The final stages then of MXGP race two,
18:0912 minutes plus two laps to go.
18:11Captain McClellan here on the Factory Triumph.
18:14He has got his way into six,
18:17but he's two and a half seconds down on Langenfelder.
18:20Found his way onto the rear wheel in race one,
18:24but wasn't able to make a move,
18:25wasn't close enough.
18:26Might be in a similar situation here
18:28where he can actually close down
18:29and make the move stick.
18:30These two are going to be fighting
18:31over fifth place at the moment.
18:32The Red Bull KTM and the Factory Triumph.
18:35Simo Langenfelder,
18:36obviously we talked a lot about him
18:37over the last few weeks.
18:38Five Grand Prix in a row now
18:40without a podium
18:41after getting on the box
18:42the first four rounds
18:43and quite successfully as well.
18:45A win, a second and two more wins.
18:47A massive kind of change in his fortunes
18:52in that respect.
18:54He's going to be on the podium here
18:55if he stays where he is.
18:56Captain McClellan will knock him off it though
18:57if he makes the pass.
18:59Yeah, and I know you spoke with him
19:00and he said
19:01wasn't necessarily so concerned
19:03with the points.
19:05Reason for concern yet?
19:07I know if he stays at the podium,
19:09that's a great sign.
19:10You want to be on the podium,
19:11but the two riders are concerned with
19:13still at the end of the day
19:14would be ahead of you.
19:1561 down as we sit, 34.
19:17And he's also lost 18 seconds
19:20to the rider ahead of him,
19:21Liam Evans.
19:22And he's allowed Captain McClellan
19:24to close in on him.
19:25So yes, he's looking at a podium
19:26potentially at the moment.
19:27Even if he's fourth overall,
19:29Seymour Langefelder,
19:30that's going to be his best
19:31in the last five rounds.
19:32certainly, but it's margins
19:36that they shouldn't be happening
19:37as a defending champion,
19:38I believe.
19:39Valerio, that's it in.
19:41It's a bit puzzling.
19:43I don't know what to make of it
19:44because he might lose his position
19:47in this lap.
19:48He just has not had the pace
19:50that he needs.
19:51And that is not something
19:52I had on my bingo card for 2026.
19:54A lot of things happen,
19:55crashes happen,
19:56injury, but just to not be quick enough,
19:58I did not see that coming.
20:00When we had wet, greasy conditions
20:01in Trentino earlier this year
20:04in race one,
20:05he got a tenth there
20:06and went backwards.
20:07And these kind of
20:08sort of familiar conditions for him,
20:11yeah, dry and pass the track
20:12a little bit greasy in others.
20:13Maybe there's something in it there
20:15in this particular instance,
20:16but I don't want to make
20:17any excuses for him,
20:18but just hasn't shown up again.
20:20Yes, he's got better starts,
20:22but he needs to execute
20:22with those better starts.
20:24Yeah, it's just a big departure
20:25from last year.
20:26You know, when we started the season,
20:27it felt like it was going to be
20:29more of the same.
20:29He seemed like the class of the field.
20:31We know Kyde Wolf,
20:32who was his biggest competitor
20:33last year,
20:34moved to MXGP.
20:35That seemed to open up the door
20:37for a repeat championship.
20:38It really hasn't gone that way
20:40and certainly don't want to count him out.
20:42Way too much racing for that.
20:44But I would be lying
20:46if I said I wasn't a bit underwhelmed
20:47the last six weeks or so,
20:50maybe more.
20:51Yeah, and that's similar.
20:51Langerfelder we're talking about there.
20:52Number one, the defending champion
20:53over on the left side
20:55through turn nine,
20:56top of the hill.
20:57Cameron McClellan getting closer
20:58to him as they continue
21:00to fight it out
21:00over fifth place.
21:02They're like 21 seconds down
21:04on Liam Everts,
21:05their next rider
21:06in their line of sight.
21:07Nine minutes left to go.
21:08That looks like
21:09an almost impossible
21:11mountain to climb
21:12to get back to fourth place.
21:14here's Sasha Coonan
21:15leaning on Yanis Raceless.
21:17Well, he was biding his time.
21:19Lands a little bit heavy there
21:20on the step down.
21:22The drone man's been drinking.
21:25Coonan goes through.
21:27Probably just scared
21:27from Sasha.
21:29Coonan goes through
21:30into third.
21:32Question for you.
21:33Just trying to
21:35suss out what's going on
21:36with Simon.
21:37You know, he made this
21:37big move last year
21:38to spend a lot more time
21:40in Germany,
21:40kind of ride more,
21:41I don't want to say
21:42by himself,
21:43but not necessarily
21:44with all the crew
21:45at Lammel.
21:46Even with, you know,
21:47the Coonans there
21:47get to practice
21:48with each other.
21:49Two of the best,
21:50you know,
21:50the championship leaders
21:51practicing with each other.
21:52Do you think there just
21:53could be a loss
21:54of intensity
21:55by not being around
21:56the quickest guys
21:57all the time
21:58as we see that
21:58pass here by Coonan?
22:00Here's a replay.
22:00Jumped longer.
22:02Raceless wasn't looking
22:03for that.
22:04Wasn't expecting that.
22:05But look how much
22:06he ran wide here.
22:07and then as he jumps
22:07downhill,
22:08lands in very heavy ground
22:09around about now,
22:12bringing all the dirt
22:13with him.
22:14So many unknowns
22:15there as well
22:15because you don't know
22:16how deep that is.
22:17Anyway,
22:18they liked it down there
22:20as he moves
22:20into second place.
22:22Yeah, I don't know.
22:23He obviously changed
22:23a lot.
22:25Even when I spoke
22:26to him in Argentina,
22:26he's changed trainer.
22:28He's, you know,
22:29again,
22:29goes back to the start
22:30of the year.
22:30Everything was working,
22:31clicking.
22:34And the trainer
22:35was good.
22:35The fitness is good.
22:36says it's still good.
22:38The riding,
22:39the speed,
22:39all those things.
22:40But it just seems
22:41like he's missing
22:41something, right?
22:43Like his qualifying
22:44times,
22:44not where they want
22:45to be.
22:46His pace in the race,
22:47not where they want
22:48to be.
22:48And I just wonder,
22:49again,
22:50you know,
22:50just speculating,
22:52a cumulative effect
22:53of not having
22:54that intensity
22:55throughout the week
22:55starting to show up.
22:57Intensity during training.
22:58You know,
22:58what kind of training
22:59is he doing
22:59with the team?
23:00and obviously
23:01he's on the Austrian
23:03side,
23:03isn't he?
23:04You know,
23:04so that's Joel Smets
23:05and everybody
23:06associated there
23:07and Adamo.
23:09And I know
23:09Joel Smets
23:10normally sort of
23:11drives a hard bargain
23:12and...
23:13I don't think
23:14it's lack of effort.
23:15I just...
23:16There's a missing
23:16ingredient somewhere,
23:17right?
23:18And I'm sure
23:18they are spending
23:19a lot more time
23:20than I am
23:20trying to figure this out.
23:22And I wonder,
23:22actually,
23:23if he's during the week
23:23is good,
23:24but then just comes here
23:25and it's just
23:25a knocking confidence,
23:26maybe.
23:27Maybe, yeah.
23:28Anyway,
23:29Evertz
23:29finding his way
23:30onto the rear wheel
23:30of Giannis Raceless
23:31here with
23:32six and three quarter
23:33minutes plus two laps
23:34to go.
23:35Take a look
23:35at the podium.
23:36He would still
23:37be third overall,
23:38second overall,
23:39even if Evertz
23:40goes by him.
23:41So no problems
23:42there in that
23:43respect.
23:44Second or third,
23:45it's going to be
23:46a first career podium
23:46for the Latvian here.
23:48I'm sure he knows
23:48that as well
23:49because obviously
23:49second in race one,
23:51now currently
23:51third in race two.
23:53Got to be thinking
23:54about that,
23:55even though he's
23:55got a million podiums
23:56in 125 and 250
23:57European Championship
23:58on his way
23:59to those titles
24:01in, what,
24:0222 and 24
24:03or 23 and 25,
24:05I should say.
24:07But Sasha Kunin,
24:08he hasn't given up
24:09the fight here.
24:09Look,
24:09the six to go.
24:1053-7 compared
24:11to a 54-1
24:12fastest lap
24:13of the race
24:13as he tries
24:14to close down
24:15on Guillem-Farrez,
24:16our race leader.
24:17Liam Evertz here
24:18on the Nostan
24:18Osvaldo.
24:19He's in four
24:19being told
24:20to eat him.
24:23It's a bit aggressive.
24:24I don't,
24:25I wonder how much
24:27Giannis is willing
24:28to push here
24:28because he has
24:30a podium
24:31clearly in hand.
24:3320 seconds
24:34to the next
24:35positions
24:35behind them.
24:37I don't know,
24:38but you know,
24:38I'm sure he wants
24:38third in this
24:39individual race.
24:40that's a big deal,
24:40but certainly
24:41don't want to
24:42throw a podium
24:42away doing
24:43something silly.
24:44McClellan finds
24:44his way down
24:45the inside of
24:46Langerfelder,
24:46moves up
24:46into fifth place.
24:48Likes that line,
24:49jumping across the
24:49left,
24:50taking that single
24:50and then getting
24:51in and out
24:52of that turn
24:52early.
24:53Langerfelder did
24:53try to fight back
24:54and respond,
24:55but McClellan
24:56just too good.
24:57McClellan now fifth.
25:03Right,
25:04how much of this
25:04can Giannis race
25:05this withstand?
25:08Got a nice style,
25:09hasn't he?
25:09Doesn't look like
25:10he's ever charging
25:11hard,
25:11ever really aggressive.
25:12Looks like he's
25:12very much in control
25:14every step of the way,
25:15which is kind of
25:17what you want to be
25:18really when you're
25:18racing.
25:18You don't want
25:19to be erratic
25:20and overexposing
25:22yourself to sort
25:23of risks
25:24and things like
25:24that,
25:25but he just looks
25:25like he's enjoying
25:26his time out
25:27on the track.
25:27Maybe he's just
25:28lost a little bit
25:28of pace here
25:29as Everett starts
25:30to close in on him,
25:31but not looking
25:32flustered by it
25:33either.
25:33No,
25:33and he gets
25:34really good starts
25:34for his size too
25:35on the 250.
25:36You know,
25:36a lot of times
25:37look at Kai DeWolf
25:38struggles a year ago.
25:40Doesn't seem to be
25:41a hindrance for him
25:41at all.
25:43Working our way
25:44towards the end
25:44of lap 13,
25:45then Perez and
25:45Kunin already
25:46over the line.
25:47Raceless and Everett
25:48come into land now
25:49as they continue
25:50to fight over
25:51third and fourth
25:51position.
25:53McClellan about
25:5324 seconds
25:54further back
25:55and Langenfelder
25:56at six,
25:56but looking good
25:58for Guilherme
25:58Perez who's
25:59nearly seven seconds
26:00clear and iron up
26:01the overall victory
26:01here in Portugal.
26:13Guilherme Perez
26:14responding from
26:15a possible threat
26:15from Sasha Kunin
26:17behind him
26:17as he goes
26:17fastest of the race
26:18in sector one.
26:1931.93 seconds
26:21to get that gap
26:22back out to
26:237.3 for now.
26:25But as we know
26:26from his persistence
26:27in race one,
26:28Sasha Kunin
26:28is not going to
26:29take this one
26:30laying down.
26:30He's not going to
26:31give up the fight
26:31until the checkered flag.
26:33Even going into
26:33the final lap,
26:34if there's an
26:35eight-second advantage,
26:36he'll still believe
26:36that he can win it.
26:37Yeah, almost to
26:38his own detriment.
26:39Sometimes it's okay.
26:44Two big saves
26:46for Evertz
26:47and that's going
26:48to be a warning sign
26:48for him.
26:49He'll look across
26:49and think,
26:50three and a half minutes,
26:51am I happy to sit here
26:52in that fourth place?
26:53Quite possibly
26:53because he's let
26:55Janis Raceless
26:55off the hook
26:56massively there.
26:57There's Raceless
26:58on the double
26:59in the opposite direction.
27:00Came out of the turn,
27:01didn't he?
27:02Didn't get the distance
27:03and went one way,
27:04then the other,
27:05two face plants
27:05on the handlebars.
27:07Yeah, he's got
27:08a 20-second gap
27:08behind him.
27:09Probably regroup
27:10here.
27:11See, kind of the body
27:12language has changed
27:13quite a bit
27:14on this lap.
27:15I think he's
27:16rethinking lots of things
27:17about now.
27:18Watch this.
27:18There was good
27:19but then just took off.
27:21Wrong way there
27:22and here.
27:24Did well to save it.
27:26Quick pull of the tear
27:27off there as well.
27:29Maybe a wipe of the brow
27:32because
27:33I would have got a sweat
27:34on one day.
27:34Maybe need a new
27:35pair of shorts.
27:36Possibly.
27:40So, Evertz
27:42dropping downhill.
27:43He was all over the
27:44back of Giannis Raceless
27:45a moment ago.
27:47Hits the line now
27:49and the gap
27:502.8 seconds
27:51behind the young
27:52Latvian
27:53who is still
27:53ironed up second
27:54overall with a 2-3.
27:56Sasha Kudin
27:5637 points
27:57with a 6-2
27:58as it stands right now.
28:00And then
28:00Nagenfelder
28:01and Evertz.
28:02Evertz was
28:02ironed up
28:03fourth place
28:05overall.
28:05But if you're
28:06not on the podium
28:08as someone like
28:09he should be
28:10like potentially
28:12what about this guy
28:13here?
28:13Two minutes to go.
28:15Dreamland at the
28:16moment isn't he?
28:16Just cornering
28:17like he's on rails
28:18just inch perfect
28:19hitting all his lines
28:19and marks
28:20not flustered.
28:21Really look
28:22unbothered.
28:23I mean
28:25very very easy
28:26look.
28:26I'm sure it's not
28:27easy but he's
28:28making it look
28:28easy.
28:29but he's just
28:30capitalized on
28:31those good starts
28:32and turned them
28:32into wins.
28:40On lap 15

29:50from Yanis
29:51Raceless
29:51on that
29:52lap
29:52because
29:53here it
29:54is
29:54maybe
29:55just
29:55settled
29:55down
29:56too
29:56much
29:56and
29:57Everts
29:57just
29:57in the
29:58final
29:58turn
29:59heading
29:59uphill
30:00in
30:00towards
30:00turn
30:00two
30:01pull back
30:02that
30:02lost
30:02time
30:03two and a
30:03half
30:03seconds
30:04I noticed
30:05Raceless
30:06didn't look
30:06so good
30:07ahead of him
30:07there but
30:08that was
30:08a lot
30:08of time
30:09to close
30:09down
30:09to that
30:10one
30:10lap
30:10because
30:10I think
30:11he had
30:11Liam
30:12on the ropes
30:12of it
30:13you know
30:13if Raceless
30:14had been able
30:14to put in
30:15a very good
30:15lap
30:16there
30:16I don't
30:17that
30:17Everts
30:17was
30:17really
30:18in a
30:18position
30:18to
30:18strike
30:19back
30:19but
30:19here
30:19we
30:19are
30:20well
30:21good
30:21recovery
30:22as well
30:22because
30:22we were
30:23thinking
30:23looking
30:23around
30:24maybe
30:24thinking
30:24okay
30:25let's
30:25just
30:25settle
30:25for that
30:25fourth
30:26place
30:26in the
30:27race
30:27and
30:27whatever
30:27that
30:28is
30:28but
30:29obviously
30:29got his
30:30head
30:30back
30:30in
30:47the best
30:47race
30:47of his
30:48career
30:48yes
30:48from
30:48start
30:49to
30:49finish
30:49he's
30:51really
30:51been
30:51the
30:51class
30:52of
30:52the
30:52field
30:52and
30:53yes

30:54stayed
30:54close
30:54all race
30:56yesterday

30:57but
30:57really
30:58never
30:58under
30:59duress
31:00yeah
31:01I mean
31:01in terms
31:01of
31:02quali wins
31:03and things
31:04like that
31:04when he was
31:04in France
31:05and he went
31:051-1 on a
31:06Sunday
31:06was only
31:06fourth
31:07in the
31:07qualifying
31:07race
31:08on the
31:09Saturday
31:09so to
31:10look at
31:11the potential
31:11of going
31:111-1-1
31:12picking up
31:13all three
31:13race wins
31:14the maximum
31:15point
31:1710
31:17for those

31:20race
31:20win
31:20on Saturday
31:21another
31:2250 points
31:22here
31:22potentially
31:23with two
31:23laps
31:23to go
31:25you know
31:25you come
31:26here
31:26going
31:2641 points
31:27down
31:28and all
31:29of a sudden
31:29you know
31:30you gain a
31:30point back
31:31on the
31:31Saturday
31:31for a
31:32qualifying
31:33race
31:35then you
31:36come away
31:36with 50
31:37points
31:38on Sunday
31:40what

33:37Kai Kajkarsmakers
33:37just out on his own at the moment on that Dixon Racing Team
33:40Kawasaki
33:42Julius Mikula
33:43two good starts
33:44positive weekend
33:45steps in the right direction for a rider
33:47who crashed in Germany
33:48had to miss Latvia
33:49because he wasn't giving the all clear
33:51two race
33:52found his way back to action a week ago in Italy
33:54he'll be pleased with the way things are moving
33:56once again
33:57I'm sure
33:57yeah
33:57and this is
33:58counting whatever issue he had on the side of the racetrack earlier
34:01that certainly cost him time if not positions
34:03so
34:04has to be happy they recovered with the top ten in this
34:07individual race
34:08seventh overall in Italy at Montevacchi a week ago
34:10seventh overall here
34:13got a fourth overall round five
34:15which is best MX2 performance
34:17by far
34:18but another top ten finish for the privateer on the private team
34:22but
34:23again
34:24we're running out of superlatives
34:25running out of adjectives
34:26adjectives for this rider right here
34:28Guillaume Perez
34:28who has just been a class above everybody else
34:32a classic example of
34:34you have to ride this racetrack to be able to respect it
34:36rather than race the racetrack
34:38and have it bite you back
34:39as we've seen
34:40numerous riders
34:41just try and push the edge
34:43and the edge bit back
34:44yeah
34:45yeah there is there is a ceiling to the way you can attack this racetrack
34:49I know in the MXGP class Jeffrey Hurlings keeps bouncing his head off of that ceiling
34:53but Perez completely different approach right he has been with finesse
34:57he's tried to work with the racetrack and it has paid dividends
35:01back-to-back podiums it's going to be then
35:03and a second first
35:04the last time he went to one was Trentino round five
35:07France round six
35:08he does it again here round nine round ten
35:11Guillaume Perez drops downhill into the final corner
35:14he takes his seventh race win of the year
35:17his eighth career victory
35:18he wins the MXGP of Portugal
35:20he takes his second Grand Prix victory of his career
35:24and of the season
35:25Guillaume Perez on cloud nine
35:28as he pulls the championship back from 41 points to 27
35:32as we head to South Africa in a week's time
35:35good work
35:36good day
35:37good job
35:37Guillaume Perez
35:39can't do it much better than that
35:47right got a replay
35:48coming up here
35:50wow
35:52Nike Korsbeck
35:53he goes over the bars
35:55Everts
35:56almost had to push the bike away
35:58look at the fighters there
36:00wow
36:02Everts still there in third position
36:04how did he survive that
36:07major moment
