00:0015-second board up for the final time
00:02this weekend. MX2, race 2
00:0430 minutes plus 2 laps, about to get
00:06underway here at the Miraval,
00:07Montevaki.
00:145-second board has turned.
00:17Coonan, around about
00:18gate 5 or 6 from the inside.
00:22But it's Valan
00:23and Sascha Coonan.
00:25Coonan runs wide again, Langefelder goes
00:27with him again and Valan emerges
00:29in third position. Simon Langefelder
00:31leads away up the hill as he did in race 1.
00:34Sascha Coonan using that
00:36bank, rails the outside,
00:38takes over the lead.
00:39Valan will slot into second position
00:41behind him. Coonan
00:43leading the way though. Langefelder losing about
00:453-4 positions. Hit that turn
00:47at the top of the hill.
00:50Everts, tiptoeing around
00:51and comes out in third
00:53through that right into the left-hander.
00:56McClellan gets the good start he wanted
00:57gives it a position away though
00:59to Valerio. Latter immediately.
01:06But it's Coonan who leads.
01:09Valan second, Everts third.
01:12Latter in fourth place.
01:14The Italian, then Camden-McClellan
01:15in fifth position.
01:16Then we've got a Yamaha in there.
01:18One of the racialists.
01:20and it's the 7.72 of Janis Raceless just behind.
01:28But a tricky racetrack to kick things off
01:31here on the opening lap of MX2 Race 2.
01:34There's Valan.
01:36He's there in fourth place. Latter just behind him.
01:39In fact,
01:40Valan here in second.
01:42Everts there in third.
01:44As we tiptoe our way around
01:46this opening lap.
01:47They've just had a sighting lap, remember.
01:49Not sure how heavy it was raining
01:50when they went on that sighting lap.
01:51It's certainly rained a little bit more
01:53since then.
01:55Up and over the Monster Energy jump there.
01:57Look at the rock here
01:58starting to glisten with moisture
02:01with that rainfall
02:03at the start of the race.
02:06Don't need a genius to tell you
02:08that that moisture then
02:09will make that rock
02:10very, very slippy
02:11if you catch it at the wrong angle.
02:15Everts there in third.
02:16Camden-McClellan fourth.
02:17Latter now in fifth place.
02:27Working the way uphill here.
02:29Ferez down and around
02:31about 12th place.
02:31Your winner from race one.
02:32An absolute mountain to climb.
02:34There he is.
02:35Top of the hill.
02:36In the corner.
02:38Dropping downhill.
02:39So he's got a lot of ground
02:40to make up.
02:50Working our way towards the end
02:52of the opening lap.
02:56Koonen leads away.
02:58Valland there in second place.
03:03Third interview now.
03:06The Nostan Husvana
03:08of Everts.
03:15Fourth.
03:16There, the number eight
03:17of Camden-McClellan.
03:19Rain just starting to fall
03:21a little bit heavier
03:23around this Miraval circuit.
03:25that inside line,
03:26the favoured line.
03:27Gives him a bit of a straight arrow
03:29through that chicane
03:30between 12 and 13.
03:39Look at Valland
03:40pushing his way through.
03:41That inside line.
03:44Feeling where the traction is.
03:46Feathering that throttle
03:46with the right hand.
03:50Everts under pressure
03:52from McClellan.
03:57As those two fight
03:58over third position
03:59just here.
04:00McClellan making
04:01that audacious move
04:02through the inside there.
04:04Trusting the
04:05traction at the rear wheel.
04:11Looking to use the berm here.
04:13You see how dry
04:14it was going in for him.
04:16As they drop downhill here.
04:18Latter.
04:19The distance.
04:19Just next to the tree
04:20as they drop into that zone.
04:22as Latter there in 5th.
04:23Giannis Raceless 6.
04:24Carsmakers Langenfelder Groh.
04:26Giannis,
04:26Karnas Raceless.
04:28Ferez down in 14th place now.
04:29So your race 1 winner
04:31losing
04:32massive amounts of ground
04:34in the opening couple of laps.
04:36As Everts
04:37still under attack
04:38from the number 8
04:39of Camden-McClellan.
04:41As they continue to fight
04:42over that third place.
04:45Koon and Valland,
04:46Everts would be your podium.
04:47Put the flag out now.
04:52Two laps complete.
04:54Koon and Fastest
04:54last time around.
04:59But a little bit
05:00off the pace this time
05:01by about a half a second.
05:04Can't afford to switch off though
05:06and ease into this race
05:08because Mattis Ballin
05:09on the Kawasaki.
05:10The rider in green
05:11just further up the track
05:13keeping the Belgian
05:14honest ahead of him
05:15on the number 19.
05:18two riders will filter
05:19to the inside line here
05:20in turn 12.
05:22Seems to be the favoured line
05:23but
05:24saw how loose it was
05:26on the exit for Valland.
05:30Moisture
05:30onto the
05:34dirt there.
05:35Lighting at the back end.
05:40Similar situation here
05:41for these two.
05:42Everts and McClellan
05:43as they continue
05:44to battle over third place
05:45keeping an eye
05:46on the action
05:47ahead of us
05:47through that next turn.
05:49Latra about
05:50three and a half seconds
05:51further back
05:51in fifth place.
05:53But he can't relax either.
05:54Janis Racelis
05:55right there
05:55ready to pounce
05:56and Carsmakers
05:56Langenfelder
05:57broke
05:57and Carnis Racelis
05:59that line again
06:01for McClellan
06:02going to use the bank
06:03here
06:04and it works for him
06:05Everts
06:06was tiptoeing his way
06:07around the inside
06:08McClellan moves up
06:10into third
06:11and he now goes
06:13after Valland
06:13and Coonan
06:14to try and
06:15get onto terms
06:16with the leaders.
06:27Everts charges
06:27back down the inside
06:28at the bottom
06:29of the hill.
06:31So
06:31Captain McClellan
06:32thought it was
06:32going to be
06:33an easy pass
06:33and head on
06:34to the next rider
06:35ahead of him.
06:36Well
06:37Liam Everts
06:37has different ideas.
06:39Everts now
06:42back into that
06:43third place
06:46trying to get
06:47back on terms
06:47with the 3.17
06:48here at Mattis
06:49Valland.
07:02Right
07:03there is it
07:03McClellan
07:04can he do it again
07:04he just set
07:05the fastest lap
07:06that time around
07:06as well
07:071.55.7
07:12tricky racetrack
07:13at the moment
07:14dry pockets
07:14of dirt
07:15and dry
07:17pebbly
07:17loose ground
07:18then wet
07:18sections on the
07:19racetrack
07:19where we've had
07:20a bit of rain
07:20a bit of water
07:21down in between
07:22sessions as well
07:23see how unpredictable
07:24it is as you get
07:25out of that left turn
07:26not just because
07:27of the nature
07:27of the hard ground
07:28but because of
07:28the rock
07:29in that hard ground
07:30underneath
07:30lighting up there
07:31that shiny part
07:32of the racetrack
07:33coming out of
07:34turn 14
07:39Perez still
07:40struggling in
07:4012th place
07:41at the moment
07:41new winner
07:42from race 1
07:45two fascinating
07:46battles going on
07:47here
07:48at the head
07:49of the field
07:49Kunin and Valland
07:50Evans
07:50and McClellan
07:52McClellan
07:52trying that line
07:53again this time
07:54he runs

08:06racetrack as
08:06well

08:08but does
08:09Evans
08:11have the ability

08:13this time
08:15McClellan

08:18and it does
08:19pay off
08:19it's taken
08:20him two laps
08:20to get there
08:21McClellan
08:21finally into

12:50having a look at Langenfelder here this will be for ninth
12:59very slick
13:00Langenfelder fell on that part of the racetrack there into this left in time practice yesterday
13:05lost the front end maybe just a little more cautious there about that part of the circuit now as a
13:11result of that
13:14race
13:14Ferez
13:14clearing the German though already uphill going after Kai cars makers the 33 having a fantastic ride by the way
13:22on that Dixon Racing Team Kawasaki made a good start in race one as well 10th and she came home
13:27in 12th place here he is circulating in 7th just a couple of positions ahead of these two carless raceless
13:34forceful down the inside picks off the defending champ
13:39raceless now moves up into that ninth place Langenfelder taking nervous looks behind him now
13:45Ferez
13:46going after the one kawasaki
13:48McClellan going after the other
13:50bit further at the track
14:00did Ferez make that move
14:08looks like he did he's now up in the 7th
14:20meanwhile the lead kawasaki rider here
14:22that is Valant
14:23factory kawasaki kawasaki racing factory mx2
14:26that's your first three in the race
14:28separated by not a lot as you can see
14:31Kunin leading away
14:32Valant second
14:33Camden McClellan third
14:38see the stones just starting to loosen up in the dirt some of them bedded for centuries around this circuit
14:44on this hillside
14:46others starting to come to the fore to the surface
14:50Sasha Kunin doing a great job of keeping Valant at bay here the Frenchman in green
14:56getting a second wind
14:58it's a rebel KTM squad
15:01look on anxiously nervously
15:04because Valant closer than he has been all race
15:10couple of distinctive lines there as you can see
15:13the shiny line
15:14the giveaway
15:15where it's rained and being slinged up
15:22then you get a bit of dirt
15:24well this is going to be the first real test now as we start to hit traffic with just under
15:2815 minutes plus two to go and McClellan
15:31likes that line almost use the kawasaki's rubber
15:34as a berm goes to the outside back marker where he wanted to be
15:40Camden McClellan
15:42but he gets out of this turn here a little earlier
15:44even closer as they plunge down the final hill
15:49than they were a lap ago
16:01working our way towards the end of lap 8
16:04McClellan
16:06closing in on Valant
16:07Valant lighting up the back end
16:09getting out of that turn
16:11asking a little bit too much of the rear wheel
16:15again gets out of that turn midway through
16:18McClellan was even tighter
16:20off of that right bank
16:23eight laps in the books now
16:26nothing in lap times
16:27but the fastest rider out of the trio
16:30was the number eight of Camden McClellan that time around
16:32only by a couple of tenths
16:35in fact 55-8 54-8 Coon and McClellan
16:46you cannot take your eyes off of this battle
16:53ah the land lights at the back end
16:55McClellan will make the move for second
16:59right place right time for the number eight
17:06and it was a patient waiting game wasn't it for Camden McClellan
17:09sat there on the rear wheel
17:11and that's what it's been like between these three
17:13just a game of chess
17:16Sasha Coonan the hunted at the moment
17:18the other two waiting for a mistake
17:20or waiting for the wrong decision
17:23and it was McClellan who capitalized on that mistake
17:26from Valan
17:27and as we approach 13 minutes to go
17:30Coonan, McClellan and Valan now
17:32you're top three
17:47Koonan
17:50lightened up the back end somehow even with all that traction but you know what
17:54Evertz is joining the party he's been sitting back there waiting
17:58e aqui ele está agora, está no fim, então nós temos um 8-wheeler aqui para este 2º race win,
18:04led out by the 19 of Coonan, Camden McClellan there on the 8th in 2nd, 3rd is Balan on the
18:09317,
18:10and the 26 has joined the party, Liam Evertz,
18:19the usual signs going out on the boards, keep fighting, you can, you must, pass,
18:24it's yours, your fastest, throughout the course of the race you'll see things like that,
18:31Balan seems to have woken up a little bit here, sense of urgency since Camden McClellan found his way through,
18:36Coonan getting held up by a lapper, and that allows McClellan to get under the rear wheel of the KTM
18:41ahead of him,
18:50McClellan likes as part of the racetrack, got some traction from somewhere,
18:53it, can't force the issue here though,
18:58oh he's going to have to cut back here to the inside, that's exactly what he does,
19:03look how he's drifting his way through that turn, is he brave enough to do it again here at the
19:06bottom of the hill,
19:07not quite,
19:11Balan now waiting for the mistake from either of these two,
19:15Batmarker looking back, thinking I can't go any tighter, I've got no tracks in here,
19:21nervous looks there as he tries to stay out of the way,
19:25Coonan hanging on for now, but for how much longer,
19:28there's that line again, for Camden McClellan,
19:30he's going to force his way up the inside, he takes over the lead, but will he lose that immediately?
19:39McClellan takes over the lead, but here comes Coonan,
19:44not able to fight back,
19:47McClellan now leads on lap 10,
19:54get a bit of rain, bit of moisture, bit of a game changer,
19:57definitely a level playing field in that respect,
20:00who has that throttle control, who's prepared to risk more,
20:05for those extra points and those race wins, the podiums,
20:09overall Grand Prix victories,
20:12no mistakes, keep going, are they going to be famous last words?
20:19because it's very easy to make a mistake around here, given the tricky conditions,
20:44for that, eyeing up an opportunity, can't quite, you know what, he needs to stay left there,
20:50get out, go the long way round, it's lower on the crest anyway,
20:55forced to move down the inside,
20:59but taking the same line, as Coonan is not going to get the pass done, on that part of the
21:05racetrack,
21:09he thought race one was difficult, with hard slick conditions and crowning rock,
21:13all of a sudden with a little bit of moisture, even more so,
21:17but the rain stays off, all of a sudden, you get a perfect racetrack,
21:22where there is perfect grip, perfect traction,
21:29but it's just waiting for that, to kind of exist, riders will feel when it's there though,
21:34that's the crucial thing,
21:38look at Evert's lurking there in the background, where's Verasna, this was McClellan, on Velland, that was for second, Velland
21:48making that mistake,
21:53then he got around the outside of Coonan here, to take over the lead, as he dropped it to the
21:59inside, still had work to do, as he got out of here and over the crest,
22:04Coonan taking a nervous look to his left, McClellan took a nervous look to his right,
22:08but he did get the pass done, McClellan continues to lead, he just sets the fastest lap, this time around
22:13153, 439, on lap 11, nearly three seconds clear, of these three riders now, fighting over second place,
22:29Velland chasing a little bit more dirt, to his outside, through that sweeping left turn, got good pace up the
22:35hill there, didn't he, gained a couple of bite lengths, on the number 19, Red Bull KTM,
22:48still no way through for the Frenchman though, just the confidence to drift, gradually opening that throttle, and gradually increasing
23:03the RPM at the rear wheel,
23:06nervous look, for Velland there, wants to know exactly where Evertz is, well, the answer is, about a bite length,
23:17knows he can't afford to switch off, or relax, but why would he, when he's got Coonan, right there ahead
23:22of him, Evertz still favouring this outside,
23:25just chasing a bit more, reliability, with the dirt, on the bank, works for him as well,
23:35got some nice lines, hasn't he, there, just a little bit wider, a little bit tighter, coming out of the
23:39turn, here, smoother, drier,
23:41then using that bank to the outside, always looking for drive, at the rear wheel,
23:54Cleland continues to, control the race, he was two and a half seconds, clear, at that third split, over the
24:01last Monster Energy jump, top of the hill, a few corners ago,
24:05as we hit the line, as we hit the line, at the end of lap 12,
24:10a gap 2.8,
24:13Sasha Coonan, having a good lap, sets his best lap, last time around,
24:18not too dissimilar, to that of the race leader,
24:21both were quicker, than Velland and Evertz here,
24:23but now losing contact, with the 19,
24:26on the KTM,
24:33Ferez, 17, 18 seconds, further back,
24:36he's going to finish on the podium,
24:37second overall,
24:39Sasha Coonan,
24:40two seconds, 44 points,
24:43Ferez would be, 41,
24:44with the win,
24:46and a fifth,
24:48McClellan would be, third overall,
24:50with a 7-1, at the moment,
24:51so we'll have two podium finishers,
24:53from Triumph,
24:54and we will have,
24:55Coonan,
24:56winning,
24:56back to back,
24:58Grand Prix,
24:58for the first time this year,
25:04take another look at the start,
25:05shall we,
25:09quick look at the start,
25:12wet, greasy mesh,
25:13this time around,
25:13but it didn't stop,
25:15Sasha Coonan,
25:16Mattis Velland,
25:16Simon Langefelder,
25:17jostling for that,
25:18foxhole shot,
25:22coming out of that first turn,
25:24get a clearer picture of it here,
25:26was it the 19,
25:27or the number one,
25:28who got over the stripe first,
25:31just Coonan,
25:36here is Simon Langefelder,
25:37oh he's been confirmed,
25:39Simon Langefelder with the foxhole shot,
25:40this time around again then,
25:43two for the weekend,
25:45for the defending champ,
25:46he now finds himself in 12th place though,
25:49gradually dropped down the order,
25:51not feeling comfortable,
25:52in these slicker conditions,
25:55McClellan leads still though,
25:56with four and a half to go,
26:08captain McClellan here,
26:11continues to lead the way,
26:13three seconds clear at the moment,
26:16one and a half further back,
26:17we've got Valland,
26:17then Evertz,
26:19same distance further back,
26:20then we've got Ferez,
26:2116.7 adrift,
26:24still eyeing up that podium,
26:27four more passes,
26:29and he's going to win the Grand Prix,
26:31but the problem is,
26:32for Ferez,
26:33four more passes,
26:37he's getting his way,
26:38past Kula,
26:43in fact,
26:43where is he,
26:45no he only needs two more passes,
26:46doesn't he,
26:47because 2018,
26:4916,
26:52yeah,
26:53three,
26:53he would need,
27:03traction just starting to come back,
27:04to the riders,
27:05being near perfect,
27:06for MXGP race two,
27:07following on from this race,
27:11see the rock,
27:12just bounce up,
27:13from underneath the front wheel there,
27:14of Sasha Koonan,
27:15midway through the corner,
27:16not like he had a bit of a stumble,
27:17through there as well,
27:25watch this here,
27:26gets into the turn,
27:27and from out of nowhere,
27:28this rock,
27:29just pops up,
27:39McClellan,
27:40impressive in this race,
27:43fastest lap of the race so far,
27:48race one,
27:49fastest lap was a 1.50.4,
27:51so the Achebe's fastest lap,
27:52is going to come in race one,
27:53by Sasha Koonan,
27:541.50.463,
27:57not close to that,
27:59with a wet start,
28:01to this second race.
28:08Here's Valant,
28:11oh,
28:11Koonan,
28:11having a moment,
28:12heard the fans,
28:13in my headset,
28:14giving it,
28:15whoa,
28:15whoa,
28:16and all of a sudden,
28:17we swing around the corner,
28:18and Sasha Koonan,
28:20is on a tightrope,
28:21once again,
28:22I would only imagine,
28:23legs off,
28:24and just off to the side,
28:25of the track there,
28:25but he's managed,
28:26to stay there,
28:26in that second position,
28:28but Valant now,
28:29less than a second behind,
28:36bit of a moment,
28:37for Sasha Koonan,
28:39just a couple of corners ago,
28:40we never caught it,
28:41just heard the fans,
28:42in the headset,
28:44just saying,
28:45you know,
28:46the oohs and the R's,
28:47and then as we panned around,
28:48with Valant,
28:50we just saw,
28:51the 19 of Koonan,
28:53correcting himself,
28:54getting his feet back on the pegs,
28:55through the waves,
28:59got pushed out to the outside,
29:00at some point,
29:01because that's where he was trying,
29:02to re-emerge himself from,
29:06had a couple of seconds,
29:07on the Frenchman,
29:08now it was less than a second,
29:10Evans is not done yet,
29:11no look,
29:13cool calm,
29:14calculated,
29:17this will get him,
29:1838 points,
29:20so he'll leapfrog Valant,
29:22but he'll still need,
29:23another pass,
29:24to find his way,
29:25onto the third step,
29:26of the podium,
29:28because that's Camden McClellan,
29:29on 39 at the moment,
29:30at the moment,
29:37traffic not kind,
29:39for the riders this weekend,
29:40especially with a few twists,
29:41and turns here and there,
29:42Olly Coleman doing his,
29:43best to stay out of the way,
29:44does so,
29:46Coleman in 20th place,
29:48at the moment,
29:50on the Chambers KTM,
29:54oh Evers,
29:55got a nice line there,
29:56but he had a couple of stabs,
29:57didn't he,
29:58midway through,
30:01this was the part of the racetrack,
30:02where Koonan,
30:03we heard the oohs and the ahs,
30:04and all of a sudden,
30:04see the line that these guys,
30:06are on through that inside,
30:07he came in from,
30:09the other side of Montevaki,
30:11to get himself back on track,
30:13Montevaki for those,
30:14who aren't here,
30:15about 10 minute drive,
30:16down the road,
30:23but we are,
30:24three laps to go,
30:27Koonan doing a great job,
30:28put himself,
30:30clear of this battle,
30:31once again,
30:33Julius Mikula is up to 8th,
30:34he's eased past,
30:35Giannis Raceless,
30:37a moment ago,
30:38so Mikula now 8th,
30:38Giannis Raceless 9th,
30:40Carlos Raceless 10th,
30:41about 3 seconds further back,
30:42we've got carsmakers 11,
30:44Langenfeld 12th,
30:45Zanke on the Ducati,
30:46is in 13,
30:48Helen Olzanoz,
30:49Andrea Rossi,
30:50Jens Wolvort,
30:51Andrea Gaspari,
30:56Alessandro Gaspari,
30:57sorry,
30:57and then we've got,
30:58Morgan Bernatty,
30:59Nike Korsbeck,
30:59and Ollie Colmer,
31:01bringing up those final points,
31:09great display this time around though,
31:11for Camden McLellan,
31:11your race leader,
31:14those call of duty graphics,
31:17a worldwide collab,
31:18with Triumph,
31:20both sides of the Atlantic,
31:24yesterday,
31:24high point in the US,
31:25now here,
31:26Montevaki,
31:27MXGP,
31:29Guillain Ferez,
31:30a winner in race one,
31:32Evert,
31:32forces his way down the inside,
31:34finally makes that pass happen,
31:36Voland left,
31:37just more than a handlebars width,
31:40to the inside,
31:43Evert's,
31:43did the maths,
31:45just said,
31:45you know what,
31:46I think I'll fit through there,
31:47and he did,
31:51Evert's now up in the third,
31:55two laps to go,
32:03can he do anything about,
32:05Sasha Koonin,
32:06well that gap is about 2.6 seconds,
32:08at the moment,
32:10probably not,
32:11unless there's a slight error,
32:13here and there,
32:14there's Guillain Ferez,
32:15Ferez is in that fifth position,
32:19looks like he may have been down as well,
32:21because he was a few positions further up,
32:24then he ended up sort of,
32:25going down to about 15th place,
32:26you can tell from the,
32:28the bullet style,
32:30fighterless helmet,
32:31that he's got going on there,
32:33not the trendiest look in the paddock,
32:35but,
32:38Ferez fighting hard,
32:39to get himself back into fifth,
32:40not sure if he knows,
32:42he probably does,
32:42that he's on the podium,
32:43with that race win,
32:46in the first outing,
32:49so maybe now,
32:50just trying to bring it home,
32:53but he was absolutely stunning in race one,
32:57came from outside of the top five or six,
32:59works his way to the lead by lap six,
33:02by lap 18,
33:03was a comfortable winner,
33:04over Sasha Koonin,
33:05and Simon Langenfeld,
33:06out of it,
33:07this time around,
33:07it's Camden McClellan,
33:08the other triumph,
33:09number eight,
33:10who leads away,
33:16triumph will pick up,
33:1750 points in the manufacturer's chase,
33:19as a result of that,
33:2125 in race one,
33:2225 points in race two,
33:24McClellan,
33:24out of the final turn,
33:25getting ready to take,
33:26the one lap board,
33:31Nanny Roma there,
33:32even hanging over the pit lane,
33:35he was the guest,
33:36checkered flag waiver,
33:37for MXGP race one,
33:38earlier,
33:44very much a part,
33:45of the big rally scene,
33:47well I'll tell you what,
33:48just keep things,
33:49a little bit straighter there Cam,
33:51backhand one way,
33:52then the other,
33:53had to kind of land with the brakes,
33:54just to correct it,
