00:01Good evening, you're watching Super 6 here on India Today. I'm Akshita Nanda Khopalo.
00:05The next 60 minutes, as always, we'll get you all the big headlines coming in from the southern states.
00:10So what do we have in store for you?
00:11On the show this evening, we're going to first focus on the big crackdown on a DMK Gen Z committee
00:18leader.
00:18Why? Because he posted a real mocking Chief Minister, Vijay.
00:22Is that kind of action justified? Unfair?
00:25Okay, what really is the reasoning of the TVK to go behind this DMK leader?
00:30We're going to be talking about that, but also coming up on the show,
00:32the farmers' crisis that's playing out right now in both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
00:37Both states are fighting it out over Kavari water with the Make It Datu project and whatnot.
00:41But we're going to give you a sense of how farmers on both sides,
00:44due to a deficit monsoon, are struggling right now.
00:47We'll get you all of those details. I'm Akshita Nanda Gopal. Here are the headlines first.
00:55The murder case reveals that Sia was main conspirator behind murder.
01:01Chetan, her lover, helped her push her to-be-husband, Ketan, off the cliff.
01:07Sia and Chetan sent to seven-day police custody.
01:09Victim, Ketan's father, says there's no sign of grief on Sia's face.
01:16Police after Lucknow fire killed 15 people.
01:19Post-mortem report reveals that toxic fumes were the primary cause of death.
01:23Chief Minister Yogi's stern dictated coaching centres,
01:26bans commercial activity in basements.
01:33At least three dead after metal shed off a factory collapses in Kolkata.
01:3921 people rescued so far, 18 still fear trapped.
01:43Chief Minister Shubindu takes stock rescue operations underway.
01:50Bengaluru Metro services take a hit after tech snag on Tuesday night.
01:55Stranded techies dump Metro and hitch ride on trucks.
02:03Punjab Chief Minister's sacrilege drought takes a murky turn.
02:06Mount government asked cops to forge forensic report.
02:10Gurugram Cops registered FIR-IN case, which says cops offered 10 lakh to forge report.
02:19In a major setback, UK court orders fugitive Nirav Modi to repay 100 crore rupees to Bank of India in
02:26loan recovery.
02:27Court also held that Nirav remained legally responsible for the debt.
02:45And let's begin with breaking news that's coming in right now from Tamil Nadu.
02:49Chief Minister Vijay has decided to rename the Velechiri Tambaram road after Major Mukund Vardarajan.
02:56It's a huge tribute that's coming in from the Tamil Nadu government for Major Mukund Vardarajan,
03:02who is someone who served the country and someone, of course, who died in service of the country.
03:09A hero of Tamil Nadu, of India.
03:11And so the Tamil Nadu government has decided to give him that due, give him that recognition by naming a
03:17key road.
03:17This is the Velechiri Tambaram road, which is being renamed as the Major Mukund Vardarajan Saleh.
03:23This is the announcement that's been made by the CMO.
03:26Remember, there's also a very popular movie that was made on Major Mukund's life called Amaran,
03:32which starred Shiva Kartikeyan and Sai Pallavi.
03:34And now the government also recognising his contribution to the country.
03:39He laid his life down for the nation and saw a tribute essentially pouring in for him at this point
03:45with the renaming of the Tambaram Velechiri road to Major Mukund Vardarajan Saleh.
03:56So this is, in fact, the decision that's been taken by Chief Minister Vijay.
04:00Why this road, you ask?
04:02Well, he hailed from Tambaram.
04:04He's considered to be a son of the soil as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned,
04:07but also son of the soil of Tambaram,
04:09which is why the Tambaram Velechiri road is going to be renamed now.
04:13Let me bring in Pramod Madhu for more details.
04:15So on this, Pramod, huge, huge gesture there by the Tamil Nadu government,
04:21Major Mukund Vardarajan, whose story, of course, was immortalised also with a film.
04:25Now there'll be a no name, in fact, a road named after him.
04:29Jaliyu, Sakshita, this is a road that's going to be a stretch between Tambaram and Velechiri.
04:33And this road was, you know, decided to be renamed as Major Mukund Vardarajan Saleh,
04:37considering that he had lived in that area, Tambaram, for a long time.
04:40And he also studied in the Madras Christian College.
04:42Major Mukund is also a very, very, like, a well-known hero from the state of Tambaram and Nadu.
04:46He's the son of the soil.
04:47And, oh, like, everybody's proud of him over here as he attained martyrdom in 2014.
04:52And to, you know, pay respects, you know, so in several ways,
04:55he's been, you know, given all forms of respect.
04:58And just like you mentioned, even a movie was made, a biopic in the name of Amaran.
05:02And right now, the Tambaram government, as per the request from the command of Army,
05:07the Southern Command as well, this decision has been taken
05:09to rename that particular stretch as Major Mukund Vardarajan Saleh, Akshita.
05:16Okay, thanks very much, Pramod, for joining us with all of those details.
05:22All right, let's move on to our top focus here on Super 6.
05:26A social media reel led, prompted a late night police visit.
05:31And that's prompted a political storm in Tamil Nadu.
05:35Now, you've got the DNK alleging that one of their Gen Z political leaders
05:40was targeted by the police after he posted a satirical video mocking Chief Minister Vijay.
05:46He did, in fact, get rather personal.
05:48But is that reason enough to go ahead and raid his residence?
05:54That's what's led to, right now, a political showdown.
05:56Like, so, Vudainiti, Stalin, Kani Murray have all questioned this particular decision.
06:00But as the controversy gains momentum, this episode has reignited concerns
06:04over freedom of speech, over political rivalry going too far
06:08and of the police in handling online criticism.
06:19What began as a political jibe in the Assembly
06:22has now escalated into a midnight controversy.
06:26After Chief Minister Vijay's,
06:28Where is your father, Bab, aimed at Udeniti Stalin?
06:46DMK leaders claim the ruling establishment has unleashed the police
06:50on one of its young voices.
06:52Past midnight, police teams reportedly arriving
06:55at the Krishnagiri residence of DMK functionary Aryappan.
07:00Their target, Anbanandhan, Aryappan's son
07:03and a member of DMK's Gen Z coordination committee.
07:07According to the family,
07:09Anbanandhan had posted an Instagram reel
07:11mocking Vijay over his reportedly birthday celebrations
07:15with actor Trisha
07:16and his Assembly remarks aimed at Udeniti Stalin.
07:21Family members questioned the late-night timing
07:23and sought details of the complaint.
07:25They claimed the police neither clearly explained the case
07:28nor produced a warrant.
07:30Police insist the visit was merely part of an inquiry.
07:35The DMK, however, sees a larger pattern.
07:38Leader of Opposition Udeniti Stalin
07:40accused the government of using the police
07:42to intimidate critics of Vijay
07:44and suppress democratic rights.
07:46DMK MP Kani Mui too
07:48slammed the police action
07:50warning that Tamil Nadu's youth
07:51would respond to attempts to silence dissent.
07:54The DMK is now preparing
07:56to seek anticipatory bail of Anbanandhan.
07:59And this is not the first such controversy.
08:01Earlier this month,
08:02YouTuber Maridas was arrested
08:04over a social media post
08:06targeting a TVK minister.
08:09Under DMK rule,
08:10critic Savu Khulshankar's residence
08:12was vandalized by a mob in 2025.
08:16As the political sparring intensifies,
08:18one question refuses to go away.
08:21If critics of the DMK
08:23once accused it of silencing dissent,
08:26is the TVK government
08:27now doing the very same thing?
08:29Has power changed hands
08:31but politics remains the same?
08:34With Pramod Madhav
08:35in Chennai, Bureau Report, India Today.
08:41So is that crackdown unfair,
08:44unwarranted or justified?
08:45Joining me on this broadcast,
08:46Felix Gerald, TVK spokesperson.
08:49We've got Ace Sarvanan
08:49of the DMK with us on this broadcast.
08:52Good evening, Vanak.
08:52Come to both of you.
08:53Mr. Felix Gerald,
08:54I'll begin with you.
08:56What to you justifies
08:57this kind of a crackdown
08:59by the Tamil Nadu police
09:01that they raid someone
09:02who put out a reel?
09:03Sure, mocking the chief minister.
09:05Is that a crime, sir,
09:06to criticize the chief minister?
09:08There was never been,
09:11I would say this,
09:13just an inquiry.
09:14And this is,
09:16you cannot compare this
09:18to what happened
09:19during the DMK period.
09:22I will tell you,
09:23it's more than 25 people
09:24were arrested
09:25just for putting out a video
09:27or a Facebook post
09:29or conducting an interview,
09:31including me.
09:32There were 20 FAR filed against me,
09:3520 charge sheets filed against me.
09:37I was in prison for 90 days
09:39for conducting one small interview.
09:42For the same interview,
09:43I was arrested
09:45for more than 10 times.
09:47I was taken to various places.
09:50Okay?
09:50And, you know,
09:52Shankar was arrested
09:53in Gundas.
09:55He was in prison
09:56for more than six months.
09:59And he was again,
10:01he was,
10:02you know,
10:04he was arrested
10:05in Gundas for three times.
10:07Sure.
10:07And I will tell you,
10:08more than 50 to 60 FARs
10:11depending on,
10:12for,
10:12I was arrested second time
10:13for speaking
10:15about the Karur issue.
10:17Okay?
10:18So far,
10:19none of them have arrested
10:21by the complaint
10:22made,
10:23by the complaint
10:24of the police.
10:25So,
10:25in all the cases,
10:26let me finish,
10:27this is very important.
10:28This is very,
10:29very important.
10:30In all the cases
10:31against all of us,
10:32the complaint
10:33is the police.
10:34Police will voluntarily
10:36make a complaint
10:37against us
10:37and they will arrest.
10:39They will put us
10:40in prison.
10:41But today,
10:42what happened?
10:42There were two people
10:43arrested
10:44not by the police complaint.
10:46the individual women
10:48who suffered
10:49because they,
10:50it was so dirty.
10:52The two people
10:53who have arrested
10:54now under Gundas,
10:55if you ask them
10:56to listen to their own
10:58interview with their family,
10:59they cannot do it.
11:00Such a filthy verse
11:02they will use
11:03in the name of,
11:04in the name of commentary.
11:06No, but sir,
11:07no, no,
11:07Mr. Felix General,
11:08talk about this particular instance.
11:10Your testimony
11:10no arrest has been made
11:11and raid has happened.
11:13That's still police action, sir.
11:14That's still police action.
11:15If someone's knocking
11:17at someone's door
11:17at midnight
11:18because they posted a reel,
11:19that's still police action.
11:20No, no, no.
11:21I will tell you,
11:22this is based
11:23on an individual complaint.
11:24They have come to enquire
11:26and that's it.
11:27They have left.
11:27If Maridas was arrested,
11:29Maridas was arrested
11:30and he was released
11:31on the same day.
11:33Okay,
11:33this government
11:34follows the rules.
11:35If somebody comes
11:36and gives you a complaint,
11:37they have to go and enquire.
11:39They will give
11:3946-day notice
11:41and they will ask
11:42for enquiry
11:44to come.
11:45If it is an offence
11:46above three years,
11:47they will not arrest.
11:49Okay,
11:50even if they arrest
11:50the magistrate,
11:51they will not,
11:52by the government,
11:53they will not object
11:55for the bail.
11:57Sarvanan knows
11:58how many times
11:58I was subjected bail.
11:59I was asked
12:01to close my channel.
12:03Okay,
12:04so they cannot talk
12:05about freedom of speech
12:06or freedom of press
12:07or freedom of expression.
12:09They were totally,
12:10they were running
12:11a totalitarian government.
12:13Mr. Sarvanan,
12:14do you want to respond?
12:15The TVK is saying
12:16that we have ensured
12:17that the law is followed
12:18unlike the DMK.
12:20Yeah,
12:20see,
12:21Akshita,
12:22I thought I've seen everything,
12:24including
12:24the Chief Minister's
12:26antics inside the Assembly.
12:27But,
12:28listening to
12:29the
12:32preachings
12:33dished out
12:33by Mr. Felix
12:35on what to speak
12:36in social media
12:37and what not to speak
12:39in social media.
12:40It's like devil
12:40quoting scriptures.
12:41That is another aspect.
12:43Let's not go there.
12:44The most important aspect is
12:46he is a prominent
12:49Gen Z leader.
12:50The TVK is rattled
12:52by the kind of support
12:53he has garnered
12:54and the kind of
12:56organization
12:57he has been able to do
12:59across the state
13:00of Tamil Nadu.
13:01They are rattled.
13:02Mr. Vijay itself
13:03mentioned it.
13:04And all the other
13:05ministers are
13:06mentioning about
13:07this Gen Z movement
13:08within the DMK party.
13:10Within the DMK?
13:12Yes,
13:13within the DMK.
13:15Yeah.
13:16The Gen Z movement.
13:16You know one second.
13:17Mr. Samran,
13:18you are saying
13:18that essentially
13:19the TVK
13:20is taking on
13:21the DMK
13:22Gen Z leaders
13:23and that's what this is.
13:24Exactly.
13:25Exactly.
13:27Yeah.
13:27They are afraid.
13:28The TVK is afraid
13:30and all the ministers
13:31are talking about it.
13:32And that is why
13:33this midnight raid.
13:34See,
13:34the law is very,
13:35very clear.
13:36The sections
13:37they have imposed
13:38on Mr. Anbanandam
13:40all or all
13:42small
13:43minimum
13:43three years
13:44or five years
13:45and the Supreme Court
13:46has made it very,
13:46very clear
13:47you cannot arrest them.
13:48You'll have to issue
13:48a notice.
13:50And midnight,
13:51what business
13:52the police has got
13:52to knock the doors
13:54at 12 o'clock?
13:55If you issue a summond
13:56they'll appear.
13:57So,
13:58fortunately,
13:59he was not there.
14:00We have filed
14:00an anticipatory bail application
14:02and it's going to come up
14:02before the high court.
14:04This is one aspect.
14:05The other aspect is
14:06oh,
14:07they say,
14:07oh,
14:08we are very much
14:09about the freedom
14:10of expression.
14:11He spoke about
14:12what happened
14:13during the DMK regime.
14:14The question is,
14:16he says,
14:16that is a bad example.
14:18Is the DVK
14:18going to follow
14:19the bad example?
14:20Is this why
14:21people voted out for you?
14:22Is this the change
14:23you were talking about?
14:24That is what
14:25the question is.
14:26Why are you afraid?
14:28Then Mr. Saban,
14:29you are conceding.
14:29You are conceding
14:30that that happened
14:31out of the DMK.
14:32What?
14:33I am not conceding anything.
14:34I am not conceding anything.
14:36I am taking
14:37for the assumption,
14:38for the sake of argument,
14:39take Mr.
14:41Felix's statement.
14:42He says,
14:43he did not
14:44give any explanation
14:46about the targeting
14:47of our Gen Z leaders.
14:48He was merely quoting
14:49what happened
14:50during the DMK regime.
14:51And what is he trying
14:52to do?
14:52He is trying to justify
14:53it happened during
14:54the DMK regime.
14:55So,
14:56now also we will do it.
14:57That is why I am asking,
14:58so is this the change
14:59you are talking about?
15:01Mr. Felix General,
15:02your response.
15:02that this is the change.
15:04Your response,
15:04sir.
15:05This is no change.
15:05I will say that
15:06if you are seeing
15:07police knocking at the door
15:08of a DMK leader
15:09at midnight,
15:09that's no change, sir.
15:10That's continuation
15:11of what we have seen before.
15:12We don't want to listen
15:15to what happened
15:16to Mr. Felix.
15:17No.
15:18That is not the debate here.
15:20The debate is
15:21why are you targeting
15:22our Gen Z leaders?
15:23Why are you afraid?
15:24Okay, let's answer that.
15:25Let Mr. Felix General
15:26speak.
15:26Go ahead.
15:28Anbanandan is being
15:29used as a tool.
15:31Okay?
15:31There was a complaint.
15:33Police had gone
15:33to enquire.
15:34That's it.
15:35That ends the matter.
15:36But how they are
15:37politicizing it,
15:38that is what important.
15:39Anbanandan,
15:40he is a poor guy.
15:41He is being used
15:42as a tool.
15:43At 12 o'clock
15:43in the night.
15:44Okay, not a waiter.
15:45At 12 o'clock
15:46in the night.
15:46Wait.
15:46I didn't interrupt.
15:47You should have
15:48some decency, please.
15:49Wait.
15:49Okay, one at a time,
15:50please.
15:51Yeah.
15:51Okay.
15:52See,
15:53that he is not
15:54being arrested.
15:55Understand the basic.
15:56The police have
15:57gone to enquire.
15:59Imagine,
15:59can Saravanan
16:01justify the arrest
16:02of Mukhtar?
16:03Can Saravanan
16:03justify the arrest
16:04of Tirchi Surya?
16:06They,
16:07they,
16:07they,
16:07on camera,
16:08they said,
16:09they told me.
16:09Talk about Anbanandam.
16:11Talk about Anbanandam.
16:12Why did you visit?
16:13Are you not afraid
16:14of my,
16:14our gentile leaders?
16:15I want to expose you.
16:16The debate is about,
16:16the debate is about
16:18the midnight noise
16:19of Mr. Anbanandam.
16:21So then let's talk
16:22about this.
16:23Okay, so,
16:23okay,
16:24let's focus on this.
16:24Let's not talk
16:25about other incidents.
16:26Don't time out.
16:26Fine,
16:27Mr. Felix General,
16:27talk about this
16:28particular incident,
16:29please.
16:29If there was a need
16:30to enquire,
16:31why do it at midnight?
16:33Why do it in the
16:33dead of night?
16:34That is messaging.
16:35Don't interpret it.
16:37Let me,
16:38let me give you two,
16:40just give me one minute.
16:41Sure.
16:41So,
16:42DMK,
16:43digital goons,
16:44they accused me,
16:45they,
16:45they,
16:46they,
16:46they told
16:47that I have HIV
16:48and my daughter
16:49has HIV.
16:50it's not about you,
16:51sir.
16:51This debate is not about you.
16:52One second,
16:53Mr. Sagan,
16:54just hold on,
16:54let him finish.
16:55Wait.
16:56And they gave
16:57gun security,
16:58gunman security
16:58to those guys.
17:00What is this?
17:02Ask him,
17:02is it,
17:04state,
17:05state police
17:06is being sent
17:07to them
17:07for security,
17:09for,
17:09for spreading
17:10fake news
17:11that I have HIV
17:11and my daughter
17:12has HIV,
17:13my friends
17:14have HIV
17:15and my wife
17:16has achieved.
17:16No, let's,
17:17no, Mr. Felix Terrell,
17:18let's very clearly
17:19condemn that.
17:20Let's very clearly
17:21all God condemn that.
17:23But two wrongs
17:24don't make the right,
17:25sir.
17:26Okay.
17:26No, no, no,
17:27I'm telling you the fact.
17:29This is the level
17:29they were gone
17:30to protect
17:31those goons.
17:33Now they are,
17:34they,
17:34no,
17:34devils is,
17:36no,
17:36as if devils
17:37are reading Bible.
17:39100%,
17:40sir,
17:40what's happened,
17:41100%,
17:42that kind of
17:42rumor mongering
17:43is 100%
17:44uncalled for,
17:45unfair,
17:46simply,
17:47you know,
17:48not okay.
17:49But that doesn't mean
17:50this is okay either,
17:51Mr. Gerald.
17:52How many people
17:53arrested?
17:54Not even one.
17:56Okay?
17:57Please understand this.
17:58Okay.
17:58This is a formal inquiry.
18:00Mr. Sarvanen,
18:01your response.
18:02The TVK is suggesting
18:03that the DMK
18:04cannot be condemning
18:05today what's happened
18:06because you used to
18:06do this all the time.
18:08And that's why
18:08Mr. Felix Terrell
18:09is referring to
18:10what happened to him.
18:10No, no, no, no,
18:11no, see,
18:11it's definitely
18:12not about
18:14what about
18:15this is about
18:16what has happened
18:17to our Gen Z leader.
18:18That's what,
18:19the bigger conspiracy.
18:20The TVK
18:21is very afraid.
18:22There is no conspiracy.
18:22Very afraid.
18:23See,
18:24that Anbanindam,
18:26Anbanindam's
18:27Instagram handle
18:28is going
18:30like wildfire.
18:32They are
18:32busting the myth
18:33and they are not
18:34able to stop.
18:35See,
18:35there is another aspect
18:36to this Achita.
18:37The other aspect is
18:38Mr. Vijay,
18:39Mr. Vijay
18:40was making
18:42unpalatable
18:44comments.
18:46That's what,
18:47let me finish this.
18:47What did Mr. Vijay
18:48say that was
18:49unpalatable, sir?
18:50Unpalatable?
18:51Will you mock
18:52someone who is
18:53not there in the
18:53assembly?
18:54If we mock,
18:55if we mock,
18:56you are not able
18:56to take it.
18:57You will not be
18:57able to take it.
18:59Every action
19:00will have an
19:00equal and opposite
19:01reaction.
19:01If we mock you.
19:04See,
19:04don't,
19:05don't,
19:06that's what
19:06we say in
19:07this Tamil,
19:10don't do that.
19:11If you do that,
19:12you will face
19:13the consequences
19:13and one more
19:14thing Achita,
19:15they were not
19:16able to take
19:17the heat of
19:18the counter-attack
19:19by DMK.
19:20So they want
19:20to intimidate,
19:21divert the
19:22attention.
19:22Yesterday,
19:23yesterday evening,
19:24they announced
19:25a scheme.
19:25They said
19:26this new scheme
19:27of giving rings
19:29to the children.
19:30Why?
19:30Because Mr. Vijay
19:31was afraid
19:32of the negative
19:33publicity he was
19:34getting because
19:34of what the
19:35comments made
19:35by him.
19:36He was not
19:37able to take
19:37when the
19:39comments are
19:39made against
19:39him,
19:40against the
19:41settled
19:41position.
19:42When our
19:43chief leader
19:44of opposition,
19:45Mr. Udaynidi,
19:46made a counter-attack,
19:47said go find out
19:48in Chengalpattah.
19:49He was not
19:50able to take
19:50him.
19:51No, but Mr.
19:51Sarvanen...
19:51That is why,
19:52that is why,
19:53this is a retaliation
19:54Mr. Sarvanen,
19:55you know,
19:56you can't accuse
19:56Felix Gerrand
19:57of diverted
19:58from this topic.
19:59So let's bring
19:59you back to
20:00this topic, sir.
20:01The TVK
20:02constantly says
20:03that you know,
20:04you cannot preach,
20:05you cannot condemn
20:05what's happening today.
20:06Because he was
20:07ten times worse
20:08under you.
20:09No, it's not
20:10about that.
20:11See, see,
20:11there...
20:12Let him speak,
20:12what is the role
20:13of me here?
20:14See, see,
20:14we all know,
20:15we all know the
20:16calibre,
20:16or we all know
20:18the content
20:19pushed by these
20:20people,
20:21and the courts
20:22have upheld
20:23certain aspects.
20:24Now you are
20:24here,
20:25get it?
20:26you are making
20:27accusations,
20:28arrest all of them.
20:28You stop.
20:29You stop.
20:40Let me speak.
20:43You stop.
20:46Mr. Akshila,
20:47you should give me
20:47time.
20:48I am being very
20:49decent.
20:49...of the DMK,
20:50they want to
20:51intimidate us.
20:52That is why
20:52this is happening.
20:54And that is why
20:54the leader of
20:55opposition has
20:56condemned this,
20:57and Madam
20:57Kanimoli has
20:58condemned this.
20:59And we will not
21:00allow...
21:01Mr. Felix Gerald,
21:02okay, let's...
21:02We are not going to...
21:03Let him stop here.
21:04I cannot shout.
21:04Okay, okay.
21:05I cannot keep on
21:06shouting, right?
21:06Mr. Sarveen,
21:07okay, you have
21:07made your point,
21:08sir.
21:08Let Felix Gerald
21:09respond.
21:09Let the TVK respond.
21:11Yeah, yeah.
21:11Just 10 seconds to
21:12Okay, 10 seconds,
21:1310 seconds,
21:14and then please
21:14give Felix Gerald
21:15a chance to respond.
21:16Yeah, yeah.
21:16We have seen MISA.
21:17We have seen
21:18all kinds of
21:19oppression.
21:20This kind of
21:20midnight knocks,
21:21midnight arrest
21:22is not going to
21:23deter us.
21:23We will expose you.
21:25We warn you.
21:26If you do one thing
21:27wrong, out of place,
21:29Okay, enough.
21:29You will get it.
21:30You will get it back.
21:31Stop blabbering.
21:32Okay, Mr. Felix Gerald.
21:33Mr. Felix Gerald,
21:34go ahead.
21:35Stop blabbering.
21:36First of all,
21:37he is giving all
21:37kind of nonsense
21:38and fake news.
21:39Again,
21:40in a national TV,
21:41he is sitting and
21:41giving all kind of
21:42fake news.
21:43This was happened
21:44sometime back.
21:45Not because of
21:46he, yesterday
21:47only CM spoke.
21:49He spoke.
21:49Yesterday only
21:50the gentleman
21:51put it.
21:51Yesterday only
21:52the gentleman
21:52put it.
21:53Let me,
21:54let me wait.
21:54Okay, let me finish,
21:55sir.
21:55Come on.
21:55Let Mr. Felix Gerald finish.
21:57You should have
21:57some decency,
21:58sir.
21:59You can't keep
22:01blunting out lies.
22:02No, no, no.
22:03You are lying.
22:04You are a liar.
22:04I am not lying.
22:05Okay, okay, sir.
22:06Bring it back to this case.
22:07I will,
22:08everybody is aware
22:09of their own credibility.
22:11Let him stop.
22:12Mr. Felix Gerald,
22:12go ahead.
22:13Okay, this poor youth
22:15is being used
22:16for political mileage.
22:18Okay?
22:19He spoke in a public
22:20meeting.
22:21One TVK member
22:22or somebody has
22:23given a complaint.
22:25And what is the outcome
22:26of the complaint?
22:26If there was no action
22:28taken, if there was no action
22:29taken, you will blame
22:29the police.
22:30The police went
22:31and went, go ahead.
22:32You will make it
22:34as a big scene.
22:35And when
22:36your,
22:37then that
22:38South Shankar
22:39house was,
22:40you know,
22:42showered with
22:43human
22:44excretor.
22:46Nobody,
22:47nobody
22:47condemned that.
22:49Okay?
22:50A lot of
22:51youngsters,
22:52college kids
22:53were arrested
22:53during the time
22:54of Karur incident.
22:56None of them
22:56voiced it.
22:57And today,
22:58just,
22:59just because
23:00police had gone
23:01for an inquiry,
23:02all your MPs
23:03are tweeting
23:04and making it
23:04as a national
23:06headline.
23:07Okay?
23:07Yes.
23:08Stop doing this.
23:09This is
23:09very cheap politics.
23:10Freedom of expression
23:11is a national headline.
23:12This is cheap politics.
23:13Freedom to speak.
23:13This is the cheap
23:14politics of DMK.
23:15Don't do this
23:16kind of cheap politics.
23:17Okay?
23:19Mr. Felix
23:20General,
23:21the simple
23:21question here is,
23:22the simple
23:23question is,
23:24sure,
23:24you're saying
23:24that a complaint
23:25was filed
23:26and therefore
23:26there's an
23:26investigation underway
23:27which is why
23:28the police
23:28landed up there.
23:29Why land up there
23:30at midnight?
23:31Sir,
23:31that's an
23:31intimidation tactic.
23:32You know it
23:32very well.
23:33As you said,
23:34you faced it
23:34yourself.
23:34It's not an
23:35intimidation.
23:35See,
23:36if police wanted,
23:37I know how
23:37they will act.
23:41During DMK
23:41government,
23:42people were hunted.
23:43They were
23:44literally hunted.
23:45Sir,
23:45you claim to be
23:46the change.
23:47One lady
23:47functionality of
23:48the change.
23:49So you should do
23:50differently,
23:51you know?
23:51No,
23:51no,
23:52see,
23:52let me tell you,
23:53one news anchor
23:55and became
23:57one of the
23:58important women
23:59being BJP
24:01women being
24:02leader.
24:03People in the
24:04midnight,
24:05they broke the
24:06house and
24:06arrested.
24:06arrested.
24:07I know how
24:07police behave.
24:09Okay?
24:10If they want
24:11to hunt,
24:11they will
24:11hunt.
24:13They went,
24:14it was a
24:14peaceful
24:16conversation you
24:16could see.
24:17Okay.
24:17There was no
24:18argument,
24:18big time
24:19argument.
24:19House was not
24:20broken.
24:21Okay?
24:22Compound walls
24:23were not broken.
24:24Do you think
24:25that police will
24:27behave like this
24:28during the DMK
24:29government?
24:30Okay,
24:30Mr. Sarvan and
24:36don't compare,
24:37don't ever compare
24:38on this issue,
24:40TVK with
24:41DMK.
24:41Mr. Sarvan and
24:42was ruling the
24:44state like a
24:45Hitler.
24:46A million
24:46thanks to
24:48the TVK.
24:49Let Mr. Sarvan and
24:50speak now.
24:51Extremely
24:52autocratic.
24:53They were using
24:54the police as
24:55their hunting
24:56dogs.
24:57So,
24:58let them not
24:58talk about this.
24:59Okay.
25:00Mr. Sarvan and
25:00go ahead.
25:01Yeah,
25:01yeah.
25:01See,
25:02a million
25:02thanks to
25:03Mr. Vijay
25:04and this
25:08police who
25:09are hunting
25:10down our
25:10Gen Z
25:11leaders.
25:11They are
25:12energized.
25:13If you
25:13think that
25:14this is going
25:15to shut
25:16them down,
25:17you are
25:17gravely mistaken.
25:18This has
25:19energized them.
25:20We will
25:21question you.
25:22Whatever you
25:23do,
25:23whatever mistake
25:24you commit,
25:25if you think
25:26you are going
25:27to go low,
25:28we know how
25:29to stoop
25:30slower than
25:30that.
25:31And this
25:32Mr.
25:33Anbanandam
25:33has been
25:34picked up
25:34only because
25:35he mocked.
25:37He mocked
25:37the chief
25:38minister.
25:38What's wrong
25:39in mocking
25:39the chief
25:39minister?
25:40He's the
25:40chief minister
25:41beyond
25:41everything.
25:42He's not
25:42picked up.
25:43Correct yourself.
25:44He's not
25:44picked up.
25:45Why are you?
25:45You're a liar,
25:46Sarvan and you're
25:47a liar.
25:47We will
25:48continue doing
25:49that.
25:49You're a liar.
25:49You are a liar.
25:51He was not
25:51picked up.
25:52He was not
25:53picked up.
25:54We will not
25:54stop until
25:55we expose
25:56you.
25:56We expose
25:57you for
25:57what you
25:58are.
25:58The people
25:59of Tamil
25:59Nauti
25:59did not
26:00have enough
26:00faith in
26:00you.
26:01That is
26:01why they
26:02did not
26:02give you
26:02a majority.
26:03And by
26:04these
26:04kind of
26:04things,
26:05you are
26:05spoiling.
26:06nothing had
26:06gone wrong
26:07with you,
26:08Sarvan.
26:08Thousands of
26:09people.
26:10You know,
26:11Julie,
26:11there are
26:12thousands of
26:13people marking
26:14making a lot
26:15of comments
26:15against the
26:16chief minister.
26:17Nothing was
26:18happening.
26:19Your frail ego
26:20is important
26:20and you will
26:21go to any
26:22extent to
26:23show that
26:23your frail ego
26:24is not broken.
26:25Ultimately,
26:26okay,
26:27ultimately,
26:27I think...
26:27We believe in
26:28democracy.
26:29We believe in
26:30fair criticism.
26:31I hope so.
26:32Mr. Felix
26:32Sherald, I hope
26:33so.
26:3340 days in,
26:34this is not the
26:35kind of
26:35controversy.
26:36That the
26:36government needs
26:37right now.
26:38The TVK
26:39maintains that
26:40there's been
26:40no arrest.
26:40Thank you,
26:41gentlemen.
26:42I'm sorry.
26:42We'll have to
26:43mute you now,
26:43but thank you
26:44very much for
26:44joining us here
26:45on Super 6.
26:46The TVK
26:46maintains there's
26:47been no arrest.
26:48This is an
26:48investigation that's
26:49been carried forward
26:50because a complaint
26:51was filed.
26:51The DMK is
26:52alleging that this
26:53is their leaders
26:54who are being
26:55hounded,
26:56who are being
26:56targeted for
26:57merely mocking
26:57and criticizing
26:58the chief
26:59minister.
26:59Ultimately,
27:00we'll see how
27:01really this moves
27:02forward and if
27:02there's action
27:03taken against
27:04the DMK leader,
27:04in which case,
27:05it is highly
27:06condemnable because
27:07here's someone
27:07who's posted a
27:08reel on social
27:10media, a reel
27:11mocking,
27:11criticizing,
27:12cracking a joke.
27:13Sure, talking
27:14also were personal
27:15matters, but is
27:16that reason to
27:17arrest someone?
27:19We'll leave it to
27:19you to decide.
27:21Let's move on
27:21now and talk
27:22about another
27:23big story from
27:24Tamil Nadu.
27:24There's been a
27:25lot of talk,
27:26speculation over
27:27his silence,
27:29over his public
27:29appearances.
27:30I'm talking about
27:31superstar Ranjini
27:32Kant.
27:32In the last one
27:33month, there's been
27:34a lot of scrutiny
27:34that he's been
27:35under why
27:36hasn't he
27:36wished Vijay,
27:38why didn't he
27:38go meet Vijay,
27:39why did he
27:40meet with
27:40Stalin, all of
27:41these questions
27:42during the rounds
27:43and amid that,
27:43the superstar has
27:44spoken out in
27:45his own
27:46trademark style
27:46as always.
27:48He says,
27:48if I speak,
27:49I'm targeted,
27:50if I stay silent,
27:51I'm targeted.
27:52Either way,
27:53it becomes a
27:54controversy.
27:55Listen in to
27:55what he said.
28:26I'm talking now.
28:27I'm talking now.
28:28I'm talking now.
28:30I'm talking now.
28:33I'm talking now.
28:37So...
28:37What do you do?
28:38We're all in the same place.
28:41Typical Rajani style with a joke, laughing off for all of the criticism, controversy that's been doing the rounds over
28:47him.
28:47I'm slipping into a short break here on Super 6.
28:49As promised, coming up on the other side, we get you a report of what's happening in both Tamil Nadu
28:54and Karnataka.
28:54The states are fighting it out over Cauvery water.
28:57But ultimately, away from the politics, the farmers of both sides are suffering today, courtesy of Deficit Monsoon.
29:03We'll get you details in just a bit.
29:28At this moment, a planet is waking up.
29:32It is happening now.
29:35And all of it needs energy to work.
29:38One good thing lighting up another.
29:42People getting curious.
29:44I'm afraid to imagine big.
29:47Oceans getting a chance to recover.
29:50Kids dreaming like kids should dream.
29:54Because when energy stops taking, when it just gives, people can move.
30:01Really move.
30:02At this moment, the world is evolving.
30:07And so is energy.
30:09Suzlan.
30:10Good energies that work.

32:49Welcome back. We've been seeing a fight over Kaveri River waters for the last many days now.
32:54We've been reporting it here on India Today on the Mekedatu project at the standoff between Tamarnadu and Karnataka.
32:59This time it's particularly grave because of a drought that's hit both states.
33:04So there's been a request from Tamarnadu for more water. Karnataka said we're in no position to release it.
33:09And as a result, both states, the farmers of both Karnataka and Tamarnadu right now are struggling.
33:15It's been a tough season, deficit monsoon, which means the rest of the year is also going to be extremely
33:21difficult for these farmers.
33:23Here's a report.
33:30Amid water crunch in the south and Mekedatu Dam fight, the Kaveri water dispute has reignited.
33:39Parch, Tamarnadu has sought 9,000 million cubic feet of water, sending out an SOS.
33:46But Karnataka says it has almost nothing to give and cited 32% rainfall deficit.
33:53Caught in the crossfire are farmers of both the states.
33:57Not left with many options, agitating farmers of Tamarnadu are seeking immediate release of Kaveri water and stop any attempt
34:06to construct Mekedatu Dam.
34:09We are not able to cultivate land in Tamarnadu. There is no water in Kaveri. There is no cultivation.
34:18Tamarnadu's Vijay government has also urged DKS government in Karnataka to stop irrigation schemes allegedly affecting flow of Kaveri.
34:27Vijay government also pointed out at water supply to Bengaluru city for drinking purposes, asking Karnataka to factor it in.
34:36As the crisis unfolds, Chief Minister Vijay has vowed to fully support farmers of Tamarnadu and lashed out at opposition
34:44for instigating protest.
34:45All of the steps have created a very good protest.
34:54Today, we should all be blessed and recorded inっちゃ, mate.
35:15On the other hand, Karnataka claims that delayed monsoon rains and poor inflows
35:20have led to lower reservoir storage and reduced outflows.
35:25This is not the only crisis Karnataka is battling.
35:29D.K. Shivakumar's cabinet does not have a full-time agriculture minister.
35:33When questioned about the vacant post, D.K. highlighted that such decisions are taken by the high command.
35:54As reservoir levels continue to drop and the Cauvery dispute escalates, both BGP and Congress trade charges.
36:04I think it's a huge challenge in front of the government and the government should seriously make all the efforts
36:13how to overcome all these challenges.
36:15We should not face that severe shortage. So let's hope things will improve.
36:21Otherwise, we'll have to sit with our neighbours, try to reason it out.
36:26And I'm sure both the governments will talk, will come out for a solution.
36:32Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have so far failed to agree despite ruling TVK and Congress being political allies.
36:40Cauvery Water Management Authority has directed Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry
36:46to use available water judiciously, giving top priority to drinking purposes.
36:52The southern states face the danger of tougher times ahead as due to the impact of El Nino, which is
36:59likely to shift rainfall.
37:02Bureau Report, India Today.
37:07So you've got two versions here. One is the Tamil Nadu government's version, the other is Karnataka's version.
37:12Let's put out both sides for you here on India Today.
37:16So we've got my colleagues Pramod Madhav from Chennai and Sagaraj from Bengaluru
37:20to give you a perspective of what each side has to say amid this Cauvery water fight.
37:26For Tamil Nadu, Cauvery is a main source of water. Imagine for 28 districts, it gives drinking water.
37:33But for 5 districts, it is a life source of the farmers for both Turuvai and Samba cultivation.
37:39And one of them is a long-term cultivation which completely depends on the Cauvery water
37:44as the farmers cannot rely on the monsoon rainfall, which is definitely expected to be affected this season
37:51due to El Nino. And that is why the farmers are fighting for the Cauvery water.
37:57Karnataka has informed Cauvery water management authority that there is a rain deficit of 30% across the state of
38:06Karnataka.
38:07Not only in the Cauvery Delta region, but across the state.
38:11Since there is a deficit rain, there is an inflow. The inflow has been reduced in the reservoir.
38:17And whatever the inflow of the water which is there in the reservoir, which will be stored for drinking purpose.
38:25And they have categorically mentioned that water security is paramount.
38:30Tamil Nadu has demanded 9 TMCs of water and also objected the Karnataka projects of irrigation
38:37and the various other projects.
38:39However, Karnataka has categorically mentioned that whatever water which is being stored,
38:44it will be used only for the drinking purpose.
38:47Cauvery water management authority who have heard from both the sides
38:51has advised the Cauvery Delta region states to use the water judiciously
38:57and they will review in the next meeting.
39:05Now there's been a huge controversy in Kerala over taxes for beverages with low alcohol content.
39:12And after coming under criticism, Chief Minister V.D. Satishan has made a U-turn on this issue.
39:17There's been criticism within the party from the opposition.
39:20So today V.D. Satishan in the Assembly has said the decision will be discussed within the UDF
39:25and there will be a decision taken based on that.
39:29But he said that if the UDF doesn't agree, then this won't happen.
39:32That beverages with low alcohol content will not be sold.
39:37He's maintained that excise policy is a political decision
39:40and therefore the party will come together to decide exactly what needs to be done.
39:44Remember, there's been criticism from within.
39:46There's been criticism from the opposition as well on this.
39:49V.D. Satishan has been facing fire from all ends.
39:52And so much so, there was talk of camps within the UDF
39:55that K.C. Venugopal's faction was unhappy with V.D. Satishan's move.
40:00It's prompted now a U-turn from the Kerala Chief Minister.
40:53So now it seems that the tax rates on beverages with lower alcohol content will not be reduced.
40:59I want to bring in Shibhimul, who's joining us live from Tiruvannantapuram with more details on this.
41:04Shibhi, there was a lot of pressure that the Kerala Chief Minister was facing,
41:08not just from outside, not just from the opposition, but from within.
41:11And once again, it kind of showed the fault lines within the UDF
41:14that there are camps that exist within the party.
41:18Well, exactly, actually.
41:20In fact, one more thing that needs to be noticed here is that it's been just one month
41:23and that's when this is coming out in the open that, you know,
41:26V.D. Satishan, the Chief Minister, took a decision without consulting the others in the party,
41:31not just the alliance partners.
41:32What is surprising is that the excise minister, M. Liju,
41:36was not aware of this announcement in the budget.
41:38So, excise policy of any government is usually discussed within the government
41:43and also within the party also in most cases.
41:45But that was not done and that is, you know,
41:48that is what has raised criticism against V.D. Satishan this time around.
41:52First, we saw Senior Congress Leader V.M. Sudhiran,
41:54the former KPC person who is also a loyalist and mentor of V.D. Satishan,
41:57coming out and saying that, you know, this should not be implemented.
42:01This is against the Congress's principles and practices.
42:03We have opposed this in the past.
42:05Now, if we are implementing it, then it sends a wrong message.
42:08All the religious organizations came out,
42:10both the Muslim organizations and the Christian organizations came out,
42:13saying that, you know, we don't expect the government to implement it
42:16because in that case, this is going to attract more, you know,
42:19more people to drinking, more youngsters into drinking,
42:23is what the religious organizations said.
42:24What is interesting is that V.D. Satishan,
42:27when he was the opposition leader,
42:28raised a criticism against the government saying that, you know,
42:32there is a move like this being planned by the LDF government
42:35as part of corruption, that is to help private companies
42:38and get a commission as corruption,
42:40and there is corruption allegation that was raised by V.D. Satishan.
42:42Same thing is being implemented here by V.D. Satishan.
42:45That was the allegation and the criticism raised by the left.
42:48Now, the CM says that it will be discussed within the party
42:51and then a decision will be made because it is a policy decision
42:53and policy decision needs to be discussed within the front itself
42:57first before being presented.
42:58All right, Shibhi, thanks very much for getting us those details.
43:00Ultimately, with all of the criticism that's come in,
43:03Chief Minister V.D. Satishan said for that U-turn,
43:06saying that excise policy is a political decision,
43:09it's a party decision.
43:14Okay, let's move on to our special segment,
43:17our live monsoon tracker for the day.
43:19Finally, we've seen in Mumbai the monsoon coming in,
43:22but it's also led to huge disruptions
43:24because there's been heavy overnight and morning rainfall.
43:27Suburban train services have been disrupted,
43:29several low-lying areas, waterlogged key parts of the city.
43:33Dadar and Anderi severely affected with reports of submerged roads,
43:37flooded railway tracks and, of course, traffic chaos.
43:40South Mumbai recorded over 300 mm of rainfall in 24 hours.
43:44So that's one of the wettest June spells in over a decade for Mumbai.
43:48The intense downpour was classified as extremely heavy by the Met Department,
43:52but it's again raised concerns over the city's monsoon preparedness.
43:56We've seen a delay, of course, in the monsoons in Mumbai,
43:58but it's come full-blown into the city.
44:01Now, let's also talk about the northeast.
44:03Heavy rains have triggered flash floods and landslides in Arunachal Pradesh,
44:07causing significant damage to homes, roads and basic infrastructure.
44:11Some of the images that have come in from Arunachal Pradesh are scary,
44:15to say the least,
44:16because several of these reports have reported overflowing rivers and mudslides,
44:22leading to road blockages and disruption of connectivity with remote areas.
44:25There is rescue and relief operation that's currently underway.
44:28Authorities are working overtime to ensure necessary evacuations of affected residents
44:33and restore access as well.
44:35Reports also indicate that some people are missing in the worst-hit regions.
44:39In Assam too, there's a high alert that's been issued.
44:42Residents in vulnerable areas have been asked to remain cautious
44:45because water levels are rising.
44:47It's the same story in each of these states.
44:49The monsoon, delayed or on time, leads to the same mess.
44:55We've been seeing a fight over Kaveri River waters for the last many days.
45:00Now, we've been reporting it here on India Today,
45:01on the Make It Datu project at the standoff between Tamarnado and Karnataka.
45:05This time, it's particularly grave because of a drought that's hit both states.
45:09So, there's been a request from Tamarnado for more water.

46:05agitating farmers of Tamil Nadu are seeking immediate release of Kaveri water
46:09and stop any attempt to construct Megadatu Dam.
46:15We are not able to cultivate land in Tamil Nadu.
46:19There is no water in Kaveri.
46:21There is no cultivation.
46:23Tamil Nadu's Vijay government has also urged DKS government in Karnataka
46:28to stop irrigation schemes allegedly affecting flow of Kaveri.
46:33Vijay government also pointed out
46:35that water supplied to Bengaluru city for drinking purposes,
46:39asking Karnataka to factor it in.
46:42As the crisis unfolds,
46:44Chief Minister Vijay has vowed to fully support farmers of Tamil Nadu
46:48and lashed out at opposition for instigating protest.
46:52Associate Professor建cit says it has been noted
46:55that our citizens and temples were представляления
46:58from sanctions unnecessarily undermined
46:59and stiling its demands for a time for country.
47:12Water
47:21On the other hand, Karnataka claims that delayed monsoon rains and poor inflows
47:26have led to lower reservoir storage and reduced outflows.
47:30This is not the only crisis Karnataka is battling.
47:35DK Shivakumar's cabinet does not have a full-time agriculture minister.
47:39When questioned about the vacant post, DK highlighted that such decisions are taken by the high command.

48:31And I'm sure both the governments will talk, will come out for a solution.
48:38Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have so far failed to agree despite ruling TVK and Congress being political allies.

48:51to use available water judiciously, giving top priority to drinking purposes.

56:27leading to road blockages and disruption of connectivity with remote areas.
56:31There is rescue and relief operation that's currently underway.
56:34Authorities are working overtime to ensure necessary evacuations of affected residents
56:39and restore access as well.
56:41Reports also indicate that some people are missing in the worst-hit regions.
56:45In Assam, too, there's a high alert that's been issued.
56:48Residents in vulnerable areas have been asked to remain cautious because water levels are rising.
56:53It's the same story in each of these states.
56:55The monsoon, delayed or on time, leads to the same mess.
57:01Let's get you all the action from the FIFA World Cup.
57:04There were so many who questioned Ronaldo's form, his age and whether he still belonged to World Cup.
57:10Cristiano Ronaldo's answer, however, came in the sixth minute with a stunning half-volley,
57:14a place in the history books and a 5-0 win that left no room for debate.
57:19He became the first player ever to score in six different editions of the tournament.
57:23Also lost his school with the reporters after the match got over.
57:27I'm leaving you with this report.
57:29Thanks very much for tuning in to this edition of Super 6.
57:36After a week of heavy criticism and scrutiny,
57:39Cristiano Ronaldo decided to remind his critics that for 23 years,
57:45he'd been scoring goals for his team.
57:50While the goals were flowing for others,
57:53Ronaldo started the second group game still searching for his first goal.
58:03The wait wasn't too long.
58:05In just the sixth minute,
58:07the five-time Ballon d'Or winner got on the score sheet with a superb half-volley.
58:16With that goal, he became the first player to score in six different editions of football's greatest tournament.
58:34After being accused of selfish play, he acted as the perfect decoy for his team as Nuno Mendes doubled Portugal's
58:42delight.
58:48Bruno Fernandes split the defense with a perfectly weighed through ball and Ronaldo did the rest.
58:56A second goal, a composed finish and the stadium on its feet.
59:07But in the afterglow of his team's 5-0 win against Uzbekistan,
59:12questions about Messi followed him to the press area and his patience ran out.
59:24The Messi comparisons will perhaps never go away.
59:29But in Houston, one of football's all-time greats answered every question with the only language he knows.
59:38And that is scoring goals.
