Transcript

00:14was completely different during the Bengal election campaign trail back when the BJP was
00:20fighting to come to power in Bengal is when we last saw Prime Minister Modi enjoying some jhalmuri
00:26the situation has changed and how the BJP in pole position and so you've got Chief Minister
00:32Shuven Do Adhikari serving Prime Minister Modi some jhalmuri very symbolic moment this this has

01:42met with
01:42the president we'll be meeting with the Gandhis but are we very importantly seeing a reset really
01:47in state-centered ties as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned we're going to be talking about that
01:51also coming up on the show since we're talking of southern states in the last 24 hours two hours of
01:57rainfall has drowned crippled the beautiful city of Hyderabad referred to as a cyber city now being

03:43it's Vijay's second visit to Delhi after becoming Tamil Nadu chief minister meets President Draupadi
03:48Mumu Talapati also scheduled to meet Gandhi's shortly
03:57after denying India today news break Rajasthan government now stands corrected Mantri admits
04:04oxy-toxin injection had only water admits bleeding of women couldn't be stopped
04:27Tamarnadu chief minister Vijay is on a crucial three-day visit to the national capital day one today
04:32he's met already with President Draupadi Mumu and what is of course courtesy meetings that have been taking place
04:38so let's get you the first image of that particular meeting like I said it's a courtesy meeting but also
04:44the chief minister has taken time out to meet with the vice president as well
04:48CP Radhakrishnan who incidentally hails from Tamarnadu from Coimbatore
04:53what's next for chief minister Vijay he's also going to be meeting with the Gandhis
04:57which was scheduled to happen two weeks ago during his first visit to Delhi after becoming the chief minister
05:02when he only managed to meet Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman
05:07so as we get to all of the pictures that are coming in right now of chief minister Vijay with
05:12the president
05:12of chief minister Vijay with the vice president I will highlight that while these are courtesy meetings
05:17there is also very important messaging from chief minister Vijay that perhaps he's looking at kind of changing the center
05:24state dynamic
05:25that we've seen between Tamarnadu and Delhi in the previous DMK regime why do I say that
05:30because in a matter of two weeks this is the second visit by Vijay and it isn't only focused really
05:36on meeting with the Gandhis
05:37which didn't happen last time around but he's also attending the Niti Ayog the meeting which previously has been boycotted
05:43a couple of times by
05:45uh Stalin this time the first Niti Ayog meeting under Vijay he's going to be there he's also reportedly going
05:51to be meeting with home minister Amit Shah
05:53we'll bring in our reporters from Delhi and Chennai I'll take this across for the moment to Anagar Keshav for
05:59more details
05:59Anagar three days packed with crucial visits uh some of them courtesy meetings others a lot more
06:06take us through really what's on the agenda Anagar for chief minister Vijay he's come down to Delhi now for
06:12the second time in two weeks
06:17yep that's right first time he was there to meet with prime minister Modi and then now he has come
06:22mainly for the Niti Ayog meeting
06:24so the main agenda for the Tamil Nadu is going to be focused on getting more funds for the state
06:30so that's going to be uh one main takeaway
06:32from tomorrow's Niti Ayog meeting where chief minister Joseph Vijay will be attending he has stretched it for a three
06:38day long visit
06:39today he has met the president and the vice president we believe that meeting with the you know uh meeting
06:44with the Gandhis
06:45is also on the cards in fact first time also uh there were speculations that were making rounds if Joseph
06:51Vijay will end up meeting with the Gandhis
06:53but that meeting didn't happen uh so this time will Rahul Gandhi be meeting with his alliance leaders if that's
06:59true
07:00then it will be big because this uh this will be Vijay's first meeting with Sonia Gandhi Vijay has already
07:05met Rahul Gandhi
07:06once before when he came down for his oath taking ceremony but his meeting with Sonia Gandhi will be a
07:11first
07:12and that is also on the cards but that will also depend on if at all an appointment is scheduled
07:17nothing is still
07:18formal nothing is still official but uh these are the you know still possibilities that we are talking about
07:23tomorrow tomorrow is the crucial Niti Ayog meeting so since his day is for uh you know since his visit
07:28is for three days
07:29meeting with the ally parties could also likely be on the cards essentially what the chief minister's schedule looks like
07:36but what we are hearing uh Anagar is that the meeting with the Gandhis will take place today in fact
07:42in about 30 minutes from now
07:43the information we have is that 6 30 pm is when that meeting will happen that chief minister Vijay this
07:49time
07:49ensured that his team had informed the Gandhis prior that he will be coming down and that they are available
07:55last time they were scheduling issues the congress however made it very very clear that there was no sort of
08:00issue
08:01no misunderstanding none of that it was just a question of scheduling issues and that's why in a matter of
08:07two weeks
08:07chief minister Vijay is back in Delhi uh as we get to the latest updates we're going to also connect
08:14uh
08:14with my colleague Rahul Gautam who's uh going to be getting us the latest from Delhi we're still waiting
08:19for that official word on whether chief minister Vijay at this time will get a chance to interact meet with
08:24the Gandhis remember Sonia Gandhi Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have just met with D.K. Shiv Kumar
08:30so they're all very much in the national capital if this time around that meeting doesn't happen
08:33then there will be a lot of talk about what really is the messaging here why is it that these
08:38two allies
08:39and the leaders of these parties have been unable to meet the last time we saw photo op and the
08:44only
08:44time we've seen it rather is between chief minister Vijay during his swearing in with Rahul Gandhi
08:49Rahul Gautam is live with us for more details on this Rahul can you confirm for us whether the
08:54meeting between the Gandhis and chief minister Vijay will be happening or not I don't think we have
09:00Rahul Gautam with us we're going to connect with him in just a bit let's move on
09:08so I'll get you all the details right now of what's really playing out and why chief minister Vijay is
09:14in the national capital like my colleague Anagar pointed out we're going to be seeing very
09:18importantly the Neeti Aayog meeting happening tomorrow a meeting in which you will have all
09:23state chief ministers coming together and chief minister Vijay has chosen to be there this is going
09:28to be of course his first Neeti Aayog meet I'll bring in Rahul Gautam now who's live with us Rahul
09:32any confirmation on whether the meeting is going to take place between Vijay between Vijay and the Gandhis today
09:40well Akshita I can confirm to our viewers that Vijay has arrived
09:43already at 10th Janpat and now he'll be meeting Priyanka Gandhi, Vardra, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi they all are present
09:52inside
09:52given the fact that not a while back Mr. Shri Keshiv Kumar also met the three Gandhis here at 10th
10:00Janpat so in all likelihood Vijay will also now be meeting Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi
10:07remember only Rahul Gandhi made for the ceremony of Vijay and therefore this taxi was long pending and now as
10:16you yourself mentioned that earlier this meeting was supposed to take place but it didn't happen because of time constraint
10:22but given the fact that now Tamil Nadu chief minister is here in the national capital tomorrow he'll be attending
10:28a few more important meetings including the
10:31DTIO and therefore it was decided that around 6.30 today all these people will meet and will obviously will
10:40exchange greetings, pleasantries and expect that you know a very picture would be coming shortly would be released by the
10:50Congress party
10:51well we will be seeing you know chief minister Vijay along with Sonia Gandhi you know giving bouquet or Rahul
10:58Gandhi so clearly it seems that it's an important meeting because the optics are very important
11:03it's also the first time it's also the first time the chief minister Vijay will be meeting with Sonia Gandhi
11:07and Priyanka Gandhi after the announcement of their alliance he's met with Rahul Gandhi during the swearing and ceremony goodwill
11:13gesture was invited and Rahul Gandhi turned up there for the swearing and ceremony in Chennai
11:18but today now as we speak Rahul getting us that update that chief minister Vijay has just arrived at 10
11:23Janpat so that meeting with the Gandhis will kick off any time now and we'll stand by for the first
11:28images but like I said chief minister Vijay is here in Delhi in the national capital for three days
11:33Neeti Aayog meet is tomorrow besides that what we're also hearing is that while he's focused yes on governance putting
11:39forth what Tamil Nadu needs getting things done he's also focused on political meets which is why the meeting with
11:45the Gandhis is important
11:46it comes at a time and there have been questions about whether the TVK is part of the India bloc
11:51or not what really is the standing there especially because the DMK is very clearly out there's a big question
11:57mark over that and then also there is the aspect of governance and the fact that chief minister Vijay in
12:02his last visit managed to meet Prime Minister Modi and the finance minister didn't manage to meet Home Minister Amit
12:08Shah there is a possibility of that happening though we don't have a confirmation on whether time has been allotted
12:14for that particular meeting
12:15so important important meetings that are lined up it's interesting that in a matter of two weeks you're seeing a
12:21second visit by chief minister Vijay to Delhi and it gets you asking about whether chief minister Vijay has taken
12:28a strategy here very different from the DMK that he's decided he wants to press the reset button as far
12:35as ties with in fact the centre is concerned why do I say that because like I said the timing
12:42here second visit to Delhi in a matter of two weeks
12:45and it's not just about political meets like with the Gandhis but he is looking to actively engage with the
12:50central government as well also there's a courtesy meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah like I said that is being
12:56sought by the CMO
12:57at this point we just don't have confirmation when it's happening but Vijay is looking to ensure that that happens
13:03too like he met with the finance minister like he met with the Prime Minister
13:07importantly hasn't boycotted the DTIO meet because that's symbolic that's messaging
13:12the erstwhile chief minister Stalin chose to boycott the DTIO meeting twice
13:17Chief Minister Vijay right now clearly wants to set the tone right that he wants to ensure there's cooperation between
13:25centre and state
13:27so yes there are disagreements let's be very clear that you know disagreements are very much there
13:32the TVK also has the same standards the DMK when it comes to need on language and several other issues
13:37but Anika this is an effort by the TVK perhaps by Chief Minister Vijay to kind of ensure the relations
13:44between centre and state move forward progress
13:47you know there are funds that are frozen there's a lot of activity that hasn't moved forward including several projects
13:52are we seeing now an attempt by the TVK to get those things going by ensuring good ties with the
13:58centre
14:02in fact Akshita you're right in making that observation because today is June 10th and it's exactly been a month
14:09since Vijay took office
14:11he took office on May 10th it's exactly 30 days now and what we've been observing in the last 30
14:17days is that
14:17TVK government is looking to have a working relationship with the centre it's been a month and there's not been
14:24a single blazing attack against the centre on issues
14:27there was an issue about the Mandrega funds or even you know regarding the Keredi or three language policy or
14:34even the Tirparan Kundram
14:35the TVK government has largely been muted these political issues have not really made headlines
14:41the TVK government at this moment is trying to focus more on governance in fact I was speaking to a
14:47lot of secretaries
14:48and what they told me is that the main focus of Chief Minister Joseph Vijay is to make sure that
14:52corruption is abolished at local level
14:55so really a tussle or locking horns with centre seems to be their last priority
15:00and it's also symbolic in a way that Chief Minister has decided to attend the Neeti Aayog meeting that's going
15:06to be held tomorrow
15:06so definitely the TVK government's attack against the centre is not going to be as blazing as what the DMK
15:13regime had
15:14the main political opponent for TVK at the moment is DMK
15:18so when it comes to BJP and centre all that the TVK wants to have is have a smooth sailing
15:23working relationship
15:24just to make sure that Tamil Nadu's funds are adequately reached
15:27so yes this is the optics that we are looking at
15:30the fact that you know the TVK is trying to ensure development doesn't get crippled
15:34and let's hope that that continues
15:36you never know really because there are clearly differences on political lines between the BJP and the TVK
15:42is that something that will mar centre state relations perhaps too early to say
15:46but right now it's clear that Chief Minister Vijay wants to take that effort
15:50second visit to Delhi is ensuring he meets all the important faces of the central government as well
15:56but I bring in Rahul Gautam also on the other question that I raised Rahul
15:59as we stand by for those pictures of Chief Minister Vijay meeting with the Gandhis
16:04you know is there going to be clarity on whether the TVK is a part of the India Bloc or
16:08not
16:08because in the last few days there was so much speculation so many questions on that
16:14well you know for that we have to you know wait for some more time
16:18because of the fact that there are super many takers for DMK during India Bloc meeting
16:23and many people educated that DMK should be brought in you know back into the India Bloc
16:28so how Congress is really going to strike a balance between you know TVK and DMK
16:34you know that's something we have to really wait and watch
16:38but I'll just show you what's happening outside tension
16:41you can see there are a lot of police personnel here
16:45Tamil Nadu you know Bhavan police personnel here
16:49obviously they are escorting the Chief Minister and as we speak a lot of media persons also
16:55the meeting we've been informed has already started
16:58and as per our sources we've been informed from our sources that
17:02Vijay is also expected to understand that what's the outlook of Rahul Gandhi as per Tamil Nadu is concerned
17:08because remember Rahul Gandhi has been you know been very vocal on Tamil identity
17:15on Tamil culture and therefore expect that obviously given the fact that
17:20Congress is an important ally of TVK and Tamil Nadu
17:23so he would be seeking some clarity as to what should be the program
17:26what should be the you know core areas on which the government should work upon
17:31and obviously Sonia Gandhi would be there in this meeting
17:35you know it was a country league which was wrong pending
17:40I will highlight that you know as far as the deal
17:44the conditional support between the Congress and TVK is concerned
17:47they have highlighted 2029
17:48and so in what scope will Vijay really be a part of the India bloc if he's going to be
17:52because they're clearly wanting him to campaign for them going forward as well
17:56so it'll be interesting to see what are the takeaways of the meeting with the Gandhi's
18:00that one particular meeting is much beyond just courtesy
18:04we'll be tracking the latest updates on that
18:06thanks very much Rahul for getting us those details
18:08but sticking to news from Tamil Nadu
18:10yesterday Chief Minister Vijay in Chennai launched the Singapore task force
18:16which is essentially an all women police team
18:19that will crack down on crimes against women
18:23and so with that he launched vehicles as part of the task force
18:27said drones will be used to monitor activity
18:29of what kind of crimes are taking place
18:31and ensure that the perpetrators are namped
18:33there's also been however a whole lot of politics on this
18:36why?
18:36because you've got several political parties suggesting
18:39that nothing's changed
18:40that this is essentially old wine in a new bottle
18:43that this has always been there
18:45and that Chief Minister Vijay has given new uniforms
18:48rebranded the entire operation
18:50the exercise to have a women task force
18:53the other aspect of it
18:55is that the DNK has put out one clip
18:58from the entire ceremony
19:00to claim that the police band
19:01was made to play Vijay's Tamil movie songs
19:05take a look at the video that they've put out
19:11from the learning
19:12who sounded like
19:12this is only about years
19:13that you want to talk about
19:13no major
19:13what kind of things
19:15but just about
19:16where you'll be
19:16into the会
19:16it was only a designee
19:17are
19:18ah
19:35so
19:35that
19:37that
20:03We are on standby for that.
20:06That red shawl that you see, that's the cover of that petrol vehicle that's just going
20:12to be inaugurated any moment now.
20:14There it is.
20:16That's the petrol vehicle.
20:17The Sinkapendi Special Force petrol vehicle that will have one head constant and two sub-inspectors.
20:26That's going to be the all-woman team.
20:31It's going to be a driver, of course.
20:34It will be helping the police to make sure that the safety of the men is never compromised
20:40at any cost.
20:41You can see there are more petrol items.
20:43It's just the worst thing.
20:45That's all.
20:45They're going to be petrol.
20:47So that was Anagar reporting from this pod, giving us a sense of what really happened.
20:52We'll also highlight for you what Chief Minister Vijay said yesterday on the reason he's launched
20:57the Singapore task force.
20:58Remember that there's been huge controversy over what he said as well, where he suggested
21:03that past governments did nothing, which is why now he's cracking the whip.
21:11He said for the night.
21:12He said they were very soft and he said he was very soft.
21:14But now he did not pass and escape theCarmen.
21:19I'm asking you to give me a warning.
21:54I'll bring in Anaga Keshav for more details on this.
21:57Anaga, put this in perspective.
21:58You were there yesterday and of course you were there covering the event which had all of these women police
22:03forces looking extremely smart, taking part in this event.
22:07And there was obviously a lot of symbolism involved in that.
22:10There's also been criticism that this is, like I said, old wine and new bottle.
22:15That you had these many women officers previously also part of the police force.
22:19And that this is nothing new.
22:20Give us a sense of what really is the truth here.
22:27In fact, even in the past we've had dedicated teams that were formed for women protection.
22:34For example, the Amma Patrol, the pink colour Innova vehicle that you see across the state was also formed during
22:40the Jai Dalita's regime.
22:42Even during the DMK's regime, they've had several initiatives in the police department to ensure the safety of women.
22:49But then the Singapenne Special Task Force is going to be the first all-woman dedicated team that's going to
22:56be driven by a male driver in a dedicated police petrol vehicle.
23:01And they're going to be across Tamil Nadu.
23:03We're learning that there are close to 300 such units that will be deployed across the state.
23:08More than 350 crore rupees has been spent for this purpose.
23:12And, you know, even in the press release that came, in fact, even the typist salary is being mentioned.
23:18So, really sending across a very clear message that there's going to be transparency at every level in the government.
23:23And, therefore, even when it comes to employment, they've promised 2,500 employment.
23:29They are going to be patrolling the state 24 bar 7 to ensure that the safety of women and children
23:34are maintained in all public spaces.
23:36Because, remember, TVK's Vijay also came to power on the law and order plank.
23:40Correct.
23:40And, therefore, that's why keeping in line with the election promise...
23:43No, and the TVK has faced a lot of flack over the fact that in the last one month, there
23:48have been a lot of crimes that have taken place.
23:50Obviously, it's all in the spotlight right now.
23:52So, there's a great deal of focus of what Chief Minister Vijay really manages to do in transforming the situation.
23:58He says this is the first of many steps.
24:00But, like, as expected, you know, there's a whole lot of politics over each of the decisions that are being
24:06taken.
24:06Thanks very much, Anika, for those details.
24:08I want to switch over to more breaking news that's coming in from Karnataka now.
24:14The newly minted Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivkumar, has met with the Gandhis.
24:20He's amid all of the drama that's playing out over his new cabinet.
24:24D.K. Shivkumar reportedly held discussions on key political and administrative issues,
24:29including the second phase of cabinet expansion that's likely to take place post-June 18th after the Rajasabai elections.
24:36This Delhi visit of D.K. Shivkumar.
24:38You may see all of the Gandhis and D.K. Shivkumar all smiles there.
24:42But there is a lot of discontent among senior leaders over portfolio allocation that's led to a beeline of Karnataka
24:48Congress leaders.
24:49Krishnabaira Gowda, you've had Rizwan Ashra, they're all making their way to Delhi, making pitches, raising their hands up,
24:56saying, I'm unhappy with the portfolio, I'm unhappy with the allocation, I want a portfolio.
25:00So there's lobbying and discontent that's clearly been expressed.
25:04Rahul Gautam is joining us live with more details on this.
25:07Rahul, take us through what really you picked up from your sources or what was discussed in that meeting, ultimately,
25:14particularly over the discontent in the current cabinet, the D.K.'s cabinet, Rahul.
25:19Well, Akhita, if you speak with any senior congress leader of Canberra,
25:23they would tell you that although parties say that D.K. Shivkumar is paying a courtesy visit to 10 jams
25:30because of the fact that Sunya Gandhi and Sunita Gandhi were not present in the O's ceremony
25:35and therefore it's a courtesy visit.
25:37However, the reality is that the hectic parlays are underway in the national capital.
25:42As he rightly pointed out, you know, a very strong lobbying is happening by many MLCs, MLAs
25:48so that they could get inducted into the cabinet.
25:51So expect that obviously, even the fact that Imtri Shivkumar is meeting Rahul Gandhi,
25:55Sri Lanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi,
25:57so they must have, you know, he must have taken a cue from these people as to how the entire
26:03cabinet should look like.
26:05We all know that how the second phase of cabinet expansion is going to happen,
26:09both Rajya Samarapur, then 18th of June,
26:11and therefore, you know, it's going to be a very tight rope for D.K. Shivkumar as to how he's
26:17going to strike a balance between old guards, youngster,
26:20you know, D.K. Shivkumar are loyalists.
26:22Although many of the Sidra Ramahia loyalists have already been adjusted into the cabinet,
26:28for example, Mr. G. Parmeshwara, KJ George, all these people have already been given birth.
26:33But what about, you know, supporters of D.K. Shivkumar, how are they going to get accommodated?
26:38Whether they're going to get cabinet birth or possible MLC tickets, chairmanships.
26:43So there are a lot of, you know, homework that needs to be done before D.K. Shivkumar goes forward.
26:50The entire facelift of Karnatka cabinet.
26:53So expect that he would be taking some clarity from here.
26:56And obviously, he has also, you know, paid his respects to Sonia Gandhi.
27:00Okay.
27:02So let's see, let's see what emerges come June 18th,
27:05because that's when the cabinet expansion will happen.
27:07But even now, with the few allocations that have happened,
27:10there's been non-stop drama playing out in Karnatka, which we'll track closely.
27:13Thanks Rahul for the moment.
27:15Cutting across to more breaking news coming in.
27:28We get you a quick update also coming in on the Vizag steel plant tragedy.
27:32After the tragedy, there have been questions about privatization.
27:36And now you've had former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagadmohan Reddy visiting the family members of those who passed away
27:42in this particular incident, in this tragedy.
27:45And he's made it very clear that the YSRCP stands against privatization of the Vizag steel plant.
27:51This has been a political hot potato.
27:53And now with the tragedy that's taken place, it's again in the spotlight.
27:57Jagadmohan Reddy has said that we appeal to Prime Minister Modi to ensure that the Vizag steel plant is not
28:02privatized.
28:03Remember, unions have been up in arms in the last few days over this particular issue.
28:08We'll have to see how really it plays out.
28:11But there's a lot of politics now over what played out in the Vizag steel plant.
28:35We'll have to see how really it plays out.
29:03We'll have to see how really it plays out.
29:07We'll have a plan to pull the river into the river in Nelabadagalut undiye and peace Allah list to Pradaan
29:13Mantrigari.
29:14We'll have to see how really it plays out.
29:15What are you doing?
29:26My estos days.
29:28Let's cut across to more breaking news that's coming in right now.
29:36Focusing now on the NDA meeting that's currently underway in Delhi.
29:40This is a meeting in which you've got Prime Minister Modi, NDA leaders, chief ministers in attendance.
29:46And we're getting your details of what Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has said in that meeting.
29:51Heaping praise on Prime Minister Modi.
29:53He says that you are an inspiration for all of us.
29:57Chandra Babu Naidu is in the meeting.
29:59He is one of the NDA leaders who's currently speaking at the Bharat Mandupam.
30:04Speaking about what's happened in Bengal and the massive victory mandate for the BJP,
30:09the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has said that while Prime Minister Modi inspires all of us,
30:14he's also said that we know that Prime Minister Modi will ensure unprecedented development across the country
30:21and that Bengal too will transform.
30:27exactly what Chandra Babu Naidu has said.
30:29He says,
30:30Prime Minister Modi has inspired and energised us.
30:34The resolve you have shown for public service and the work you've accomplished is unparalleled.
30:38The massive mandate the BJP received in Bengal under your leadership has convinced me
30:43that what Bengal thinks today, the nation thinks tomorrow.
30:47Whether it's infrastructure or welfare of the poor, you've said new benchmarks for development.
30:52The entire NDA is proud of you.
30:55We remain dedicated to the nation's development.
30:57That's the message from Andhra Chief Minister, Chandra Babu Naidu.
31:11Okay, let's cut across to the first images coming in of Chief Minister Vijay meeting with the Gandhis in Delhi.
31:18First images on your screens there of Chief Minister Vijay with Rahul Gandhi.
31:23There are also images and we're just going to correct that these are the first pictures that are coming in
31:29right now of Chief Minister Vijay with the Gandhis.
31:32There's pictures of him with Rahul Gandhi and with Priyanka and Sonia Gandhi as well.
31:40And those are the pictures on your screens right now.
31:43We're going to be getting you details of also what was discussed.
31:46You can see the Chief Minister Vijay besides handing over a bokeh,
31:50has also handed over some kind of booklet to both Rahul Gandhi as well as Sonia Gandhi.
31:55Courtesy meet, yes, but it also will take forward what exactly will be the sense of what TVK's role will
32:04be
32:04in the opposition alliance, in the India bloc and there is going to be a discussion on that as well.
32:11As we get you the first images there of Vijay meeting with the Gandhis, with Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
32:17Mind you, this is the second meeting between Chief Minister Vijay and Rahul Gandhi.
32:21Rahul Gandhi had also been there for Vijay swearing in ceremony but the first with Sonia Gandhi.
32:26We understand that reportedly Priyanka Gandhi could also be a part of the meeting.
32:31We'll wait for those pictures to confirm that but the picture is on your screens right now
32:35of Chief Minister Vijay with Rahul Gandhi.
32:37This was a meeting that was supposed to happen two weeks ago during his first visit to the national capital.
32:43At that point however, the meeting could not take place due to scheduling issues.
32:47Now you can see that Chief Minister Vijay has had an opportunity to interact not just with Rahul Gandhi
32:53but also with Sonia Gandhi.
32:55First images on your screens.
33:09Ratham is joining us with more details on this.
33:12Rahul's first images on our screens of Chief Minister Vijay's meeting with Rahul Gandhi, with Sonia Gandhi.
33:18Give us a sense of what really you've been able to pick up from your sources Rahul
33:21or what's been discussed.
33:23Is this just a courtesy meet or will there be a mention of what really the TVK's role
33:28is going to be in the India bloc or in an opposition alliance?
33:34The face of it is absolutely a courtesy visit given the fact that the visiting Chief Minister
33:40has reached the residence of Gandhi and therefore he's meeting Rahul Gandhi
33:44and obviously Sonia Gandhi and the solid leaders of the opposition camp
33:49and therefore in a way he's also thanking them, you know, paying his respect.
33:54But at the same time, as I was telling you earlier also, in a way he's also come to get
33:59an idea
34:00about the outlook of top Congress leaders as far as Tamil Nadu is concerned
34:05and what really they are expecting from the TVK government.
34:09Remember, Rahul Gandhi has been very vocal.
34:12In fact, he's been saying that I'm very fond of South India, particularly of Tamil Nadu.
34:18So what is the idea of, you know, governance as far as Rahul Gandhi's stance and Sonia Gandhi's stance
34:23and all these things are likely to be discussed.
34:27Obviously, you know, these are one of the tolerant leaders of our country,
34:30so expect that they would be discussing, you know, issues like governance, policies, etc.
34:35And also, you know, if you see the gift or the presentries that have been brought in by Chief Nisru
34:44Vijay,
34:45there is some kind of shawl which he has brought in, brought for both Poonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
34:52And also to book it.
34:53So clearly, you know,
34:54That's Tamil tradition also, Rahul, because you will see most leaders from Tamil Nadu coming with what we call a
35:00Ponnada.
35:00That is the shawl that, you know, you greet and felicitate leaders with.
35:04And so, Chief Minister Vijay, following that particular tradition, just focusing on the body language,
35:09you can make out the warmth between the leaders, particularly between Chief Minister Vijay and Rahul Gandhi,
35:14who have, of course, interacted many times before, including during that sparing in ceremony.
35:19But we will track very closely the big headlines, the big takeaways of this particular meeting.
35:24It's still underway. Rahul Gautam is tracking those updates for us.
35:28For years, Hyderabad has been branded as India's technology powerhouse,
35:34a city of gleaming towers, of global capability centres, of billion-dollar investments, ambitious slogans.
35:41Every government, and I'll say this, regardless of political parties,
35:44has celebrated Hyderabad's rise as a cyber city and as a world-class IT destination.
35:50Is that what it looks like on your screens, the pictures we're showing?
35:53This is the reality.
35:55Two hours of heavy rain.
35:57This is the start of the monsoon.
35:58And this is what the so-called cyber city looks like.
36:01And let's face it, this is the uncomfortable truth of Hyderabad and so many other cities, which I'll get to.
36:06But just focusing on Hyderabad for a moment.
36:08This is a city with huge digital ambitions, which rests on infrastructure, struggling with the basics.
36:15Roads becoming rivers, traffic grinding to a halt.
36:18And just imagine the plight of citizens.
36:20They're left stranded.
36:21This isn't to target any one party, any one government.
36:24This has every year been the reality of this beautiful city, let down by zero planning.
36:31So every monsoon, same cycle.
36:33You'll see citizens posting videos of flooded straits.
36:35Officials announce emergency measures saying we're cracking down, we're cleaning the drains.
36:39You'll see a lot of political blame game.
36:42The water recedes, the outrage disappears until the next storm.
36:46And then it's the same cycle once again.
36:49The same lessons relearned, but nothing beyond that.
36:52Calling Hyderabad a cyber city is easy.
36:55Building a city that can withstand a few hours of intense rain is clearly hard for any Indian city
37:00because none of them seem to be ready.
37:02That is the test that matters.
37:04And in that test, unfortunately, every party has failed.
37:07And I'll add that every city has failed.
37:09Yes, this is the plight of Hyderabad, but it's also the plight of Delhi.
37:12It's also the plight of Bengaluru.
37:14It's also the plight of Chennai.
37:15I can go on and on.
37:16It's the same story in India of defining development by high rises instead of basic infrastructure.
37:29The monsoon may still be days away from Hyderabad, but the city has already caught a trailer of what's to
37:35come.
37:37Heavy pre-monsoon showers pounded Hyderabad on Tuesday, bringing large parts of the city to a standstill.
37:46Vehicles were seen stranded and partially submerged on waterlogged roads.
37:54Police personnel rushed to clear routes and make way for ambulances amid the chaos.
38:01Even roads surrounded the Telangana secretariat were inundated after hours of intense rainfall.
38:08The downpour exposed the city's drainage woos.
38:11Several localities reporting severe water logging.
38:15Not even Hyderabad's flyovers escaped the impact.
38:19Water collected at multiple locations, disrupting traffic and causing long delays for commuters.
38:28A portion of the entrance arc of Diwan Devdi, the ancestral residence of the Salarjung family, collapsed during the downpour.
38:38Two people lost their lives due to electrocution during the rains.
38:45The scale of disruption has once again raised questions about Hyderabad's preparedness ahead of the monsoon season.
38:53With roads submerged, trains overflowing and traffic crippled,
38:57residents are wondering whether the city is ready for the monsoon that is yet to arrive.
39:04With Abdul Bashir, Bureau Report, India Today.
39:11Let's get you all the updates coming in on the NDA meeting that's currently underway in Delhi's Bharat Mantapam,
39:17where Prime Minister Modi entered to all the NDA leaders standing up and celebrating his legacy as Prime Minister.
39:25So a standing ovation much like earlier today when the cabinet also greeted the Prime Minister with a standing ovation.
39:31Let's cut across to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandra Prabhu Naidu.
39:39Indians and India is well respected because of you said.
39:44Our goal is to become number one economy globally.
39:49That is possible only through our Honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji.
39:54It is going to happen one day.
39:59This is India's defining moment.
40:04The beginning of a golden era.
40:07Our faith in its leadership is complete.
40:11Our commitment to the people unwavering.
40:14Our resolve to build a Vikasad Bharat by 2047 unshakable.
40:23One day matram.
40:26Jai Bharat.
40:28Jai.
40:40Okay, so that's a message that's come in from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandra Prabhu Naidu.
40:44We're going to continue getting you all the live updates in just about 15 minutes from now.
40:48Prime Minister Modi is set to speak.
40:49We'll get you those updates as well.
40:51That's all we have time for in this edition of Super 6.
40:53Thanks for tuning in.
