00:00So there's news on the Brendan Soresby front.
00:03For those that don't know, Brendan Soresby is a high-profile quarterback
00:06that transferred to Texas Tech, got a big NIL bag.
00:11He also is a degenerate gambler,
00:14and he has now intended to enter the NFL supplemental draft.
00:19We have that in common.
00:20Ahead of the 2026 season, according to ESPN Thamble.
00:24I think somebody here suggested he do that, if I remember correctly.
00:28Yeah, you did. You nailed that.
00:28I said, this is what he should do.
00:31And only because...
00:31And this is...
00:32Look, there had to have been multiple people within the administration
00:36that said, we can't continue this.
00:38It was just too much.
00:39It was too much.
00:40And they didn't say give the money back, so he can keep his money.
00:42Yeah, just keep any money he may have gotten.
00:44It's crazy, but he had no choice.
00:46The country was universally against him.
00:49Well, not just that, but there's going to be multiple lawsuits.
00:51The Big 12 was going to sue the school.
00:53What's what I mean?
00:54Everybody.
00:54It just wasn't worth it for Texas Tech.
00:57Yeah, juice wasn't worth the squeeze.
00:58This is the only way, just bow out, enter the supplemental draft.
01:02Now, the question will be, will the NFL hesitate knowing the guy, I guess, does he have a gambling
01:09addiction?
01:09I guess he does.
01:11It's really not that much money.
01:12He was betting 10 bucks a game, but he's a college kid.
01:15Maybe he has a gambling addiction.
01:16He certainly enjoyed it.
01:17I think he has a gambling addiction.
01:18You think he does?
01:19Well, he had to go to an inpatient rehab.
01:21Well, that's it.
01:22I mean, I think he went there for image, but I mean, Jason, that's what he bets.
01:27I mean, I guess Jason thinks he has a gambling addiction.
01:29Maybe he does.
01:30Of course I do.
01:31I guess.
01:32You don't need to go to rehab.
01:33I mean, if Odyssey said, look, you can't do this anymore.
01:35You need to go to rehab and clear it up before you can work here again, I'd have to go
01:41to
01:41rehab for 30 days.
01:44You know, you could just shut it down?
01:45You could give him a mic when he goes to rehab.
01:47I couldn't.
01:47Keep doing the show in rehab.
01:49It's a lot of bets.
01:50But he also admitted it himself.
01:51Sorsby also admitted himself that it was like a mental health issue deal.
01:55Yeah.
01:55So, but there were other players that were found to have bet on games when they were in
02:06college and the NFL took them.
02:08So, I'm not sure how that would play out with Sorsby.
02:11So, there hasn't been a supplemental draft since 2023.
02:15EB, do you know the last quarterback to enter the supplemental draft?
02:19I'll give you a hint.
02:21Former Redskin.
02:24He did not play quarterback when he came to the Skins.
02:27Oh.
02:28Played a different position.
02:29Oh, the tight end?
02:31Terrell Pryor.
02:32Oh, okay.
02:34Last quarterback was Terrell Pryor, who was a third-round bid in 2011 for the Raiders.
02:39So, the league still needs to approve Sorsby's application for there to be a 2026 supplemental
02:45draft.
02:46Yeah.
02:46Which would take place sometime later this summer.
02:48Yeah, it used to happen.
02:50Guys typically don't go very high in those things, typically.
02:53No, the last guy was Jalen Thompson, who's the fifth-rounder.
02:56Yeah.
02:57Well, the team has to decide what pick is worthy of the player.
03:02Right.
03:03So, if a team goes out there and goes, oh, we think he's a second-round pick, we'll submit
03:07a second-round pick.
03:08Mm-hmm.
03:09Then they don't get their second-round pick for next year, but they get, you know, if
03:12that's the highest bid, they'll get him.
03:13And look, teams are so quarterback-starved, somebody's obviously going to put a bid in
03:17for him.
03:18Sure.
03:18He's been a productive player.
03:20I think that, yeah.
03:22I mean, he was kind of thought of as a possible second-round pick if he would have come out
03:26this year.
03:27My guess is he goes in fourth or fifth round, if not later, just because of the baggage.
03:31So, from what I can tell, this wasn't all Sorsby's decision.
03:34Basically, Texas Tech told him, we can't do this anymore.
03:38That was my point.
03:39Yeah, it's not that it was so much pressure that he couldn't play.
03:42Ken Paxton, the Texas Attorney General, filed a lawsuit or wrote a letter to the Big 12
03:47threatening legal action against them, and it opened them up to this big federal court
03:53case that Big 12 filed yesterday, and basically, Texas Tech was like, we're done.
03:58Right.
03:59That's what I was saying, that the administration probably went, all right, Brendan, sorry,
04:02bud, you can keep your money, but you're going to have to roll out.
04:05We can't keep you.
04:06We can't have you on campus.
04:07It's just too much.
04:08I mean, schools are going to threaten to forfeit games.
04:12We might not even play a game.
04:13People are also threatening not to schedule us in any sport.
04:16That's what I mean.
04:17Not only football, all across the board.
04:19So, yeah, it was untenable for Texas Tech.
04:21It became untenable.
04:22It was untenable.
04:23I thought this was the only option.
04:25You could say he was pushed out.
04:26Why agree he was?
04:27Tom Maher is the attorney that we've talked about before that's very player supportive,
04:32said, what a horrible look for Cody Campbell, Ken Paxton, Texas Tech's president
04:36and board, and the rest of Tech's admin.
04:38There's not enough towels at the Lubbock Walmart to wipe all the egg off their faces.
04:43Well, man, Cody Campbell, who, of course, is the very former player who's a multimillionaire.
04:51No, he's a multi-billionaire.
04:52He's a multi-billionaire.
04:53I believe his net worth is $30 billion.
04:55Yeah, and he's one of the guys at the front of the line that's giving all this money to
05:01the Texas Tech players.
05:02Yeah.
05:02But he was supposed to be a guest in studio when he was in D.C.
05:06Like two weeks ago, he was supposed to come in.
05:08And he canceled for whatever reason.
05:10Well, I think this is a big reason why the canceling had to do with the Brendan Sorsby fallout.
05:16But this is all he's been dealing with.
05:17Sure.
05:19But you're right.
05:20It doesn't look good for him and all the guys in his room.
05:24But the saga is over now.
05:26It just depends on what team will submit a pick in the supplemental, which will be later this summer.
05:33And like you said, I think a team will submit a pick.
05:36Of course.
05:37Unless they're just too worried about him going forward and possibly betting on games as a pro.
05:42They're going to turn over every stone they can to find their next quarterback if they don't already have that
05:46guy on their roster.
05:47But I don't think it's going to be second round.
05:49I think it'll be a little later.
05:50Probably fifth or sixth round.
05:51Yeah, you're probably right.
05:52Yeah.
05:53Some of the executives kind of projected him as a second rounder if he was in the regular draft.
05:59A normal draft.
05:59NFL draft.
06:00Yeah.
06:01But, yeah, I mean, this was a huge story.
06:04A massive story for weeks.
06:06Ben Solak, who's an NFL analyst for ESPN, said eight teams come to mind.
06:11So basically, a quarter, what is that?
06:13That's not a quarter of the league, is it?
06:15Eight times four is 32.
06:16Yeah, pretty much.
06:16That's a quarter of the league.
06:18Yeah, pretty much.
06:18Yeah, so eight teams.
06:19He mentions the Cardinals, because they've got Jacoby Brissette and Gardner Minshew coming into camp.
06:26The Jets, because they have Geno Smith as kind of a temporary guy for a year or two.
06:32Those could be a couple teams.
06:34The Browns, with their revolving cast of quarterbacks in Cleveland, could be in the mix.
06:40Yeah, maybe the Dolphins with Malik Willis taking over there.
06:44Maybe Pittsburgh, possibly.
06:45Yeah.
06:46So, I mean, there will be teams that will be interested in his services.
06:50Yeah.
06:51But if they didn't decide to do this, and he did go out there and play, and who knows what
06:56the ramifications would have been in terms of the Big 12.
06:59But, I mean, that's all this kid would have been hearing.
07:02Sure.
07:03It would have been, wait, for someone who's battling mental health issues, if that's what it is, it would have
07:08been 100 times worse on Saturdays.
07:10It would have been raining, like, fake money down on Texas Tech every time they enter an opposing stadium this
07:16fall.
07:17I mean, yeah, it would be a circus.
07:19Yep.
07:19And they just don't want to have to deal with that.
07:21Yes.
07:22Which makes sense.
07:23But Hunter Deckers and Keyshawn Booty, who were, they committed gambling violations when they were playing college football.
07:34Yep.
07:34They both were allowed to play in the NFL.
07:37So, the NFL didn't...
07:38The difference is, I think, just how much this was.
07:40Yeah.
07:41Right?
07:41So, you mean, yeah.
07:44But you're right.
07:45I mean, it was 10 bucks a year, 15 bucks a year.
07:48It wasn't like it was a ton of dough.
07:50No, but 90,000 wagers is a lot.
07:53He's betting 20, 30, 40, 15 times a game.
07:55It's very aggressive.
07:57Yeah, that's a lot of...
07:58He was busy.
07:58Yeah.
07:59It's a lot of activity.
08:00And I guarantee you, he lost money.
08:01You bet 90,000, you lose money.
08:04Oh, yeah.
08:05Of course.
08:07Yeah.
08:07With all those bets.
08:08The books love that sort of player.
08:10Oh, yeah.
08:11They love you.
08:11They love when you're betting 25, 30 bets every Saturday and Sunday.
08:15Plus, because they get a piece of every single bet.
08:17Sure.
08:18Like, I mean...
08:19They also love...
08:20They just love the volume in and of itself.
08:21They also love when you take Spain in a three-team parlor.
08:24They do love that.
08:25By the way, we never talked about Aldon Smith passing away.
08:28I know.
08:28Yeah, that was tragic.
08:30That was terrible.
08:31There's video and pictures of him giving away pizzas.
08:34Like an hour before.
08:35Yeah.
08:35Like the guy...
08:36The hour before.
08:36The guy that he was with said they were delivering pizzas.
08:40And I think it was Aldon Smith's truck.
08:42Mm-hmm.
08:42Like, he drove...
08:43Like, Aldon Smith drove him to his house.
08:46He went in to grab something out of his house.
08:48He came back out to the car.
08:50And he was slumped over the steering wheel.
08:53Heart attack?
08:54Unresponsive.
08:54There's no cause of death yet, but, like...
08:56Sounds like it, right.
08:57Might be a massive heart attack or...
08:59Yeah.
08:59I mean, he's a guy's 36 years old.
09:0136, I know.
09:02It's number seven pick in the draft for the Niners.
09:05He was a good player.
09:06Tragic.
09:06And I know, I don't...
09:0736.
09:08We've been hearing it a lot with the guys who were mid-50s,
09:11in the late 50s, early 60s.
09:12But 36?
09:14Yeah, I was a little bit stumped by that over the weekend.
09:17So, do you think it was maybe, I don't know, they're going to find, like, fentanyl or something?
09:22I mean, I'm sure they're going to do an autopsy.
09:25You'll get a 36-year-old just dies out of the blue.
09:28Like, you're going to do an autopsy there to figure out the cause of death.
09:31He did have some drug and alcohol issues when he was playing.
09:35Oh, for sure.
09:36When he was playing.
09:37So, yeah, I mean, I guess it could be.
09:40I mean, yeah, that's what derailed his career.
09:43But it could have been.
09:44Out of the league for a long time.
09:45But it also could have been a heart attack.
09:46Who knows?
09:47Yeah.
09:49You guys saw that Brandon Ayuk had another post.
09:53This one, what I saw...
09:54Is it going to be daily with this guy?
09:56Pretty much.
09:56Seems like it.
09:57Just buckle up.
09:59Yeah.
09:59What I saw, I don't know if there was audio accompanied with it.
10:03What I saw was just, I think, I clicked on,
10:07a picture of it.
10:08I didn't see the whole thing, but I think he put it on a story
10:11and it just had him labeled as in Virginia.
10:15I didn't see it.
10:16He's done that twice now.
10:17He's geolocated himself in Virginia two times in the last week or so.
10:22Hanging out in Ashburn?
10:23We should send Mike Maher out to try to find him.
10:26Can we...
10:26Because somebody, where in the world is Brandon Ayuk?
10:29Where in the world?
10:29Where in Virginia is Brandon Ayuk?
10:31Where in D.C. is Brandon Ayuk?
10:33You know, he's probably living at Creighton Farm with Jaden Daniels at his house
10:36on the third pole.
10:37Well, that's what people are suggesting.
10:39Or he's still in California and he just puts D.C. as the geolocation
10:42just to throw everybody off the set.
10:44Of course.
10:45It could be.
10:45That could be the case, too.
10:47But it says Virginia, USA.
10:51That's all it is.
10:52Not very specific.
10:53A few hours ago, he posted it on his story.
10:55He's just staring at the camera.
10:57Of course, I know most of you guys, I'm sure, that are following this.
11:01Mark Shloreth kind of went out there and said that you just can't win with a guy like that.
11:06I don't know if that's true or not.
11:10But I don't know.
11:12I also saw somebody else suggesting that the way that Brandon's acting,
11:20it doesn't seem like the same guy from like two years ago.
11:24It just seems like a different guy.
11:26He might be losing it a little bit.
11:28I don't know.
11:28If there's something going on, I have no idea.
11:33But he appears to still be close with Jaden.
11:37He's the Britney Spears of the NFL.
11:39Now, do you think he's close with Jaden?
11:42Is it because Jaden's just a great guy?
11:45And Jaden's just one of those guys that kind of likes everybody.
11:48And Jaden's not going to dismiss the guy.
11:53Because Jaden likes everybody.
11:54Is that possible?
11:56I mean, it's possible.
11:57But maybe they do have a close relationship.
11:59They appear to.
12:00They all did when they were playing together.
12:02They appear to.
12:02But is it maybe not as tight as what the media thinks?
12:09Yeah, because Jaden just says tight with everybody.
12:11Yeah, he might just say, it's my boy.
12:13Yeah, and I have a lot of boys.
12:14But he could say that about us.
12:17Maybe he just says it about everybody.
12:18I'll be honest with you.
12:19My son gets along with everybody.
12:21He doesn't get along.
12:24My boy.
12:25I might badmouth some kid or something.
12:27My son won't do it.
12:28He won't.
12:28He likes everybody.
12:30He's just kind of that kind of kid.
12:32Some people are that way.
12:34So, yeah, I mean, it's possible that he's just tight with a bunch of different guys.
12:38That they're just like super tight and they're BFFs and that's like his closest boy.
12:42Could just be.
12:43He could be one of 20 of his close boys.
12:46And he's just not going to alienate him at this moment.
12:50I know John Kime said last week that he believes that once San Francisco does release IU.
12:57They're still ultimately going to sign him.
12:58They're still ultimately going to sign him.
12:59But after all these videos are coming out, man, I just, I can't imagine it.
13:03I'd be kind of surprised if they did.
13:06All right.
13:06We come back.
13:07We will get into the Washington Nationals.
13:09They notch another win yesterday.
13:127-3 over the Royals.
13:14They're three games above .500 for the first time in seven years.
13:18The Nats right now are the third wild card in the NL.
13:21You know when last time they were three games above .500?
13:24I think it was 2018.
13:252019.
13:262019.
13:27Right.
13:27When they won the joint.
13:28It's been a bit.
13:29When you've got a ring from it.
13:30We'll get into the red hot Washington Nationals next here on The Fan.
