00:00Well, I'm hearing that he's saying some of the coaches may not be seeing it
00:04the way that Durante wanted taught.
00:06So they're teaching it the way that they think it is.
00:08Instead of, this is a problem.
00:10Instead of making sure of how it's supposed to be taught,
00:13shouldn't you go back to the coach and say,
00:15can you explain this exactly how you want it?
00:18Instead of just trying to, oh, this is the way I think.
00:21Because if you start thinking it, let's say I give it to you, Ryan, Jeff,
00:25and White Bryant.
00:27And all four of y'all come up with a different concept.
00:31You got it exactly how I want it taught.
00:33If the other three people don't have it the way that I'm trying to teach it,
00:37guess what happens?
00:38We are moving in directions that don't work in unison.
00:42So it looks bad.
00:44Instead of everyone going and saying, hey, can you explain it exactly how you want it?
00:49And then maybe he can do it.
00:50But if you don't do that, and you go and you teach it in the way you think
00:55and not know, you could be deceiving the whole concept, right?
01:00Yeah.
01:03There's clearly some communication issues on the defensive side of the ball
01:09that I think are problematic for this defense.
01:11And there have been flashes where the defense looks totally different.
01:15But correctable.
01:17All you have to do is communicate.
01:20If I don't, let's say you and I decide, Ryan wants us to do something.
01:26He tells you, he tells me.
01:29We're different people.
01:30We may come up with it differently.
01:32So when you and I start talking, I'm like, nah, he wants us this way.
01:36We're not going to just go to the place and do it.
01:38I'm going to call Ryan and say, hey, come and explain exactly what you want us to do.
01:43And then you get a concept and you go and you can handle it.
01:46But if we both walk up in there with our own thought process and try to make that work,
01:52it may go through.
01:54It may not go through properly.
01:56And it may not come out the way it was supposed to come out.
01:58So if you're trying to teach someone, you damn sure can't teach them if you don't truly understand
02:06what the real concept and the real meaning of how somebody wants them done is, right?
02:14The other thing I wanted to make sure we made time for was David Blau and the offense.
02:21Yeah.
02:22This team has been incapable of running the football.
02:26This team hasn't done much in the way of protecting Jaden Daniels.
02:31I think whatever offensive positives you see are largely a result of Jaden Daniels being really good.
02:40And I think for Jaden, whether it's fair to him or not, he has been good,
02:46but not the great player we saw a couple of years ago.
02:50And if he can't be excellent and incredible, I'm not sure how much they can win, right?
02:57And I think that's a big problem for this team.
03:01Let's start with David Blau, No. 10, Stallion, talking about the scheme changes for the run game.
03:07We're doing a deep dive on ourselves.
03:11Man, it's so many different things together.
03:13And I think for our unit, we've talked a lot about the word trust,
03:15whether it's the center trusting communication, the tackles and tight ends trusting each other together on their combinations,
03:22the backs trusting the tracks, the line, the quarterback, everybody tied together.
03:27So when we look at the run game, when we look at, you know, execution as a unit,
03:31we know it kind of comes back to trusting one another.
03:33And that's what, you know, we get to go out in an hour and a half or so and build.
03:38And hopefully, you know, we get to see it come to life for the 60 minutes we get on Sunday.
03:46Do you think the run game can be improved?
03:51Yeah, I think so.
03:52And it comes down to up front.
03:55I could care less about who the running backs are.
03:57But up front has to get better.
04:00I've watched Chris Paul block unbelievably in the running game last year.
04:05We know what Cosme can do, you know.
04:09We've seen Coleman get it done.
04:12So it could get, but they have, like, the thing, like, we've talked a lot about the offensive line.
04:18Having one great lineman is okay.
04:20But having five guys that work together in unison, work together, have great chemistry,
04:26you can have, that could be much better.
04:29They don't seem to be working together.
04:32You know what I mean?
04:34Totally.
04:34And for why or what reason, I don't know.
04:38But it's about time that, right, at this point, we can't say anything.
04:44Like, it's not like they're in the first game, second game.
04:47Okay, you're going to game seven.
04:50Something has to start working.
04:54And it's remarkable, too, in that Allegretti started at left guard for this team for, I think, 15 out of
05:0117 games in 2024 when they went to the NFC title game.
05:06It played at a pretty high level.
05:08And all offseason, they said Allegretti was going to be your starting center.
05:11That's the plan.
05:12We haven't seen or heard from Allegretti in weeks.
05:15And, like, effectively benched, you know?
05:20Yeah.
05:20It's specific to the run game.
05:23Could there be more for Austin Eckler?
05:25We're stallion number three from David Blau talking about the veteran running back.
05:30He's a true professional.
05:32We're lucky we've got a bunch of guys just like that.
05:34And so, as we move forward, his role, you know, continued to increase.
05:37And we have to do a good job using him to his skill set, too.
05:40So, the opportunities will continue to come for him, and he'll be ready because he's worked really hard with Coach
05:46Lynn and Coach Madden to be able to pick it up, you know, with somewhat of a new system for
05:51him and be ready to play.
05:54And he'll be ready when his number's called.
05:57I think you can increase things for Eckler.
05:59I'm not sure.
06:00That's not a dude that's going to get, like, 20 carries for you.
06:03If you got to pick, Brian, we'll do should and will.
06:08And I'll tell you mine first.
06:10Who should lead the Commanders and carries Sunday night to me is Jeremy McNichols.
06:16I think he gives you a level of pop and a level of explosiveness that you can lean on him
06:22a little bit more.
06:23I think it will be Rashad White.
06:25I think Rashad White ends up leading this team and carries Sunday night.
06:29I think it should be Jeremy McNichols.
06:31What do you see?
06:33I like McNichols, and I've stated that all week about how I like his explosiveness and things of that nature,
06:39and he can handle all the other aspects of it.
06:41But what if you get into the game and it doesn't seem to be working with him?
06:44It is working with Eckler.
06:47Go with the hot hand.
06:48You know, I know people have a game plan.
06:53But you don't have to stick to it if it's not working, right?
06:56So every once in a while, we got to say, okay, this is what I planned.
06:59But you know what?
07:00This is what's working.
07:02And if Eckler's the guy that's getting it done, or if it's Rashad White, go with the guy that's the
07:07hot hand.
07:07Because I think all three of them have their strengths and their weaknesses.
07:13Overall, I think Jeremy has a little bit more explosion than the other two guys.
07:19But if he's not working, don't stick to it.
07:24I totally agree with that.
07:25I did want to get to number two.
07:27Terry McLaurin is now out for the season.
07:31Dan Quinn talked about maybe that means more for Antonio Williams.
07:34Talked to Antonio Williams in the locker room this week.
07:36He's like, yeah, I want more opportunities.
07:38He made clear, like, I'm not going to be the same player that Terry is.
07:41I'll get moved around more.
07:42But heck, yeah, I want more opportunities.
07:44David Blau on working out the target share without McLaurin.
07:48I think you see his process refining, right?
07:51As you're a rookie and you come into this league, you continue to develop in so many different areas.
07:56And so it's been route running and details and splits.
07:59And then the ball finds him, right?
08:03Like, that's what you can't deny about him.
08:05And we're really happy with where he's at.
08:08And, you know, he'll certainly get more of target share and, you know, snap count just by nature of the
08:14business with Terry's absence.
08:17Who would you like to see?
08:20I don't know if you agree with me.
08:21I think Steph Diggs will be the leading targeted receiver.
08:26Yeah.
08:28Who would you like to see after him?
08:31Who would you like to see be the second most targeted player for Washington?
08:36I don't know if I have an exact person.
08:39I just want to see somebody show up.
08:41I would say Antonio and then Burks, Trey Burks.
08:46You know, those two guys have shown us throughout this year thus far that they're capable.
08:53And we know how game plans are.
08:55You go into it, you want to get a certain amount of people.
08:58But just as I stated about the running backs, if we get in this game and there's someone checking Trey
09:04that don't seem to be able to check him, keep calling a game plan to go back to him.
09:11But they say they put Quinone on Steph.
09:15And then somebody else, Cooper DeGene, whatever his name, put him on Antonio.
09:22I don't think he can stick with Antonio.
09:25I will force feed him.
09:31Like, I know what, we've had coaches come in and say, we throw it to the open guy.
09:35We have coaches, but we watch football every day.
09:38Jaden has said that.
09:39We watch, huh?
09:39Jaden has said, I go where the players are.
09:41Yeah, I understand that.
09:42We have coaches said, but we watch every week where there's a guy that gets double digits opportunities every game.
09:52I have to believe that it comes to the point where they know that guy can't check him.
10:00One more.
10:01Jaden Daniels has been good this season.
10:04I don't know that he's been the excellent player we saw in 2024, but he's been quite good.
10:08David Blau talking about where Jaden has been growing this season.
10:13You know, full transparency, working out of the huddle, working personnel groupings, you know, a little bit longer play calls.
10:21It's somewhat of a first experience for him, even in his third year.
10:25So there has been a lot of growth there and still so much good to come.
10:29And then I think, like, as we continue to grow, as I continue to grow, I reflect on how can
10:34I communicate with him every time we're in a third down and every time we're in a two-minute.
10:41How can we put ourselves in the best position possible to continue, you know, to have success?
10:47Because he has certainly been excellent in some spots.
10:52He's been excellent.
10:53I think the huddling stuff has created its own complications.
10:57I think it's also worth pointing out the center that calls the huddle, sets the line of scrimmage, calls the
11:05protections.
11:06He got here week two.
11:08Yeah.
11:09Like, Jaden and Lucas Patrick spent zero time together installing this offense.
11:14True.
