00:10Welcome back to our series and today we're going to talk about an engine hoist. Certainly old car
00:17buffs know about an engine hoist and it's far better than hanging a sling off a tree or anything
00:24but engine hoist can be used for anything to lift things maybe heavy maybe a big decorative rock you
00:29want to lift up out of the ground and put a pallet truck underneath to move around the capacity of
00:35this
00:35particular engine hoist is about 1200 pounds you can get some that'll go up to maybe 1500 pounds
00:42but this particular unit is a very heavy duty and there's a few things just to touch on there
00:50about putting it together and as you see it comes in pieces so it's easy to transport. So this is
00:56your main piece on the back here that you'll put down in this position and then your legs which
01:02you're going to have to stick out to support things will slide in in that manner. Slide the other one
01:14in
01:17and the pin on the back will lock once it goes into the into the hole. So there it's mobile
01:26you can roll
01:26it around. I wouldn't necessarily want to be doing it on any kind of soft but area certainly not dirt
01:34or grass maybe like here asphalt or concrete anywhere you can roll it. If you had to lift an engine
01:41and put
01:41into a vehicle obviously the legs are going to go underneath the vehicle and drop it down. Now
01:46here's the mast. Slide in so I've seen people put them in the other way so make sure it's pointed
01:59this
02:00way because this is where your jack is going to go. You can also get a mast which they have
02:05at Larry's
02:05rental which is about two-thirds high and you'll use that on a van because you only take the grill
02:12out of the front and you don't want to lift it up so high so you can have a lower
02:16mast to lift out the
02:17engine partially and pull it through when you take out the grill and everything. That's another option.
02:23Your handle for your jack is usually on your mast. It's on a spring just push it down and pull
02:29it out
02:31and your arm that you'll put in. There's a pin here you're going to slide this up
02:48and it'll be in that position and that's where you're going to put using the hook to hook onto. Now
02:56your jack will then fit right in here and the other end in the spigot on them on the top
03:07mast
03:09your handle obviously to use to uh to jack it up and there's a little slot on the other end
03:15where you can open up the valve so that you can release your jack or tighten it back up
03:25and then you can jack up your uh your engine or product or whatever you're trying to use this for.
03:31Another good little item side item which could be handy if you don't have a way to hook on to
03:36particularly an engine is uh use a sling like this here. You can get this additionally then you can
03:43sling it on safely onto your engine and get a good hold on it so that you can lift it
03:48up safely. So
03:50something else that makes the job a little easier there certainly an engine hoist as it says is
03:55to pick up engines but there are other applications where you may need to hook something up. It has been
04:01used in industrial applications over top of a manhole type thing with a chain down and lift things out
04:06so there there are other options but uh keep it in mind uh with your projects and uh don't forget
04:13to subscribe.
