đź“„ Description
The Drywall Lift is a time-saving, back-saving tool designed to hold and raise full sheets of drywall into position—especially on ceilings and tall walls. Perfect for solo workers or small crews, this tool allows you to lift, tilt, and align panels with precision before securing them in place.
In this video, we’ll show you how to safely assemble and use a drywall lift, how to load sheets correctly, and tips to make installation faster and safer on any project.
đź’ˇ Pro Tip
Load the drywall sheet with the finished side facing outward and center it on the cradle arms. Tilt the lift to roll it into position, then crank it up slowly. Always double-check alignment before fastening to avoid gaps and rework.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Secure the lift base on level ground before raising any load. Don’t exceed the lift’s weight rating—usually around 150 lbs per sheet. Always lock the lift’s brake once the panel is in place, and lower the cradle fully before unloading or moving.

00:00well welcome back again and today I'm going to show you an item actually one of my favorites
00:15because I think this is one of the best engineered items that the rental business has as you see all
00:21the pieces are down here this is a drywall lift we're lifting up sheets of drywall half five
00:26eights four by ten four by twelve but because this is so compact and so well engineered it's
00:34easy to transport putting in a vehicle and but also there's a bit to know to put this together
00:39now this is the base it's on wheels wheel around so you push down this little lever in the back
00:47and you'll open up the the base make sure you hear that click you click that base in so it's solid
00:57and it doesn't move or come back in again a bit now the important part here is the mast is to get this
01:07in properly there's a bit of weight to it it takes a bit of a trick hopefully I can grab this but put
01:15your foot on it to steady it and slide this in one piece has to go in on the inside one piece has to
01:24go in on the outside of the mast that's slid in pretty well now make sure that you shake it like
01:30this make sure that's in properly this is the only reason why a sheet of drywall or anything would be
01:36tipping over on you or or all of a sudden get out of position because you don't have this mast in
01:42properly so make sure you take the time and get it in properly from there it's fairly simple
01:48there's a little break here with a little brake shoe and this drum so you take a little bit of weight
01:54off of it a little bit of tension one finger on this red little knob here that's got the brake pad
02:02on it and you can pull this out this arm out you'll see this sliding down here there's a little lock on
02:10there that clicks up and locks in and make sure you keep tension on the cable doesn't have to be really
02:18hard but some tension on the cable otherwise you can have to run the chance of it running off a pulley
02:22or anything it's a series of pulleys inside this thing now you take a little bit of tension off make
02:29sure the cables loose and you pull the safety off up here and that's what keeps these tubes inside
02:37now if you don't have this safety on here and especially when you're taking it apart and you
02:42tip it and it'll all slide out there's a chance that you'll run your cable off a pulley or something so
02:47or get it kinked when you're trying to crank it all back together but from there you can take the your
02:53one finger and you see you can move the mass up and that's what you're going to put the one part on
03:02here that's going to hold actually the drywall so take this part here cross beam the shaft goes
03:12inside the hole there's not too many other places it can go just slide it in it just has to slide in
03:18there this little clip usually you'll leave that on so this doesn't slide up at the initial part
03:25but this can even be down sometimes when you're doing a cathedral ceiling and you're trying to put
03:29sheets up on a bit of an angle so you can loosen this and as you see this tip so i'm going to put that
03:35on for the moment these arms slide right into these v parts make sure you hear them click
03:48and also this other arm
03:53now there you have it together this comes over
03:57like so and then you release that little clip that i was showing you earlier pull that down tip
04:09this down like this now these arms in the end here you can pull the little knob out and you can slide
04:15these out slide them out on either end now the only part you have to do of course is you have to lift
04:22your sheet up either two people but a lot of times a four by eight sheet especially with the lighter drywall
04:27they have out now one person can lift it up onto the drywall lift and you're going to have it in
04:33this position with your sheet of drywall on there so you'll tip it back now you've got your drywall in
04:42this position on top of this lift back over make sure you put your hand on the on the wheel handle first
04:51take some tension off and then you're going to crank your sheet of drywall up to the ceiling
04:58and you can let go of the brake hold it there up in the ceiling drive in a few screws to hold it
05:04there and then you can take some tension off and then lower it down so don't crank it up real tight
05:11don't forget you've still got to get a bit of tension off of this to lower it back down again
05:15but at least that'll hold your sheet of drywall up to the ceiling you can cut pieces use it to put
05:19smaller pieces up as well but the nice thing is you can move it around so give yourself some room on the
05:25floor when you're when you know when you're where you're going to position it so that you can put
05:28it over there easily screw it up drop it down and put on your next sheet and put it up so that saves
05:35all that stuff about trying to use two by fours and t posts and getting up on ladders standing on your
05:41head putting the sheet on your head and lifting it up like the old days this is one of the best tools
05:47to put drywall sheet up to your ceiling it's safe it works quickly and it also allows you to get it
05:54all up in a short period of time now also some ceilings these days are a little higher
06:01so this will do an eight foot ceiling easily but if you start getting it up into some 10 foot ceilings
06:07and higher there's spacers that are available that we have and right here where you put it into this
06:13mast you'll put this in instead and then put the the top beam part right into this and that'll bring
06:19it up a little higher so you can reach a higher ceiling but also remember that your lifting of
06:25the sheet is going to be a little higher as well so not a bad idea to have some help when you start
06:29using the extension and go up higher to the ceiling so take it all apart in the same manner just make
06:35sure again that you when you bring it down you put the safety clip on the shaft so they don't slide out
06:41and lift it apart in reverse and i think you'll find that this is something that you'll be
06:47glad you used when you're doing your drywall so we'll see you for the next project and don't forget to
