A Trash Pump is a high-performance pump designed to move water containing debris, mud, or solids, making it ideal for construction sites, flooding, and dewatering projects. Its robust design handles large particles without clogging, providing fast and efficient water removal in tough conditions.
In this video, we’ll show you how to set up and operate a trash pump, prime it correctly, and safely manage water and debris flow for maximum efficiency.
💡 Pro Tip
Always prime the pump before starting to avoid dry-run damage. Use the correct hose diameter to maintain flow and reduce strain on the engine. Monitor intake and discharge for clogs or air pockets during operation.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Wear gloves, safety boots, and eye protection. Keep cords, hoses, and bystanders clear of moving parts and high-pressure discharge. Never operate the pump without proper ventilation if it’s gas-powered. Follow manufacturer guidelines for maintenance and safe operation.

00:00Well welcome back here and here's another pump that is a right in the right application. This
00:17is a trash pump and it's called that only because again it draws from the bottom. This particular
00:26pump has a little impeller in it so if you're drawing leaves or things it'll actually chew
00:31them up to allow it to be able to be discharged through the pump. A perfect pump if you're going
00:36to take water off of your pool cover and the leaves and everything maybe still you may have a few in
00:43there yet and there that you couldn't get off and don't be concerned about the weight of the pump
00:49going on top of your pool cover because it it's certainly not as heavy as all the water that's
00:53on there or the leaves and material that is on your pool cover or you can hang it off of by the
00:59rope you can hang it off of your diving board if you have one or if you want to protrude a beam or
01:05a stick over top of your area you can hang it from that into your pool. But the one thing to remember
01:12is that it draws water in from the bottom here. This part area in the bottom here has to be covered
01:18with water. You can't sit this on a concrete floor and expect it to start pumping with maybe an inch
01:22of water on the floor. It's drawing air so it's not going to pump. So this is this area here has got
01:28to be covered before it'll pump and it'll pump down to that level as well. Now the hose that it uses is
01:35a lay flat hose and simple to put on like another two inch pumps and pull the ears up on either side
01:44and it locks on. Lower it down plug it in 115 volt power and away it goes. You're drawing oh you're
01:50putting out at about 50 gallons a minute in the size of a two inch pump. So a real good another good
01:56real good pump for the application particularly with the impeller in the bottom to break up any
02:00debris or materials there that may block up and stop your pump from working. Okay so there's another
02:07one for you to have a look at and don't forget to subscribe.
