đź“„ Description
A Texture Sprayer is a specialized tool designed to apply textured coatings quickly and evenly on walls and ceilings. Whether you’re tackling popcorn ceilings, knockdown texture, orange peel, or other decorative finishes, a texture sprayer helps you achieve consistent results with less effort than manual application.
In this video, we’ll guide you through how to set up and use a texture sprayer properly, select the right nozzle and pressure settings, and how to avoid common mistakes for a smooth, professional finish.
đź’ˇ Pro Tip
Practice spraying on cardboard or scrap drywall before starting. Adjust the air pressure and nozzle size based on the texture type and material thickness. Keep the sprayer moving in even, overlapping passes to avoid heavy spots or drips.
⚠️ Safety Reminder
Wear eye protection, a dust mask or respirator, and protective clothing to guard against airborne particles. Cover floors and furniture thoroughly—texture spray can be messy. Clean the sprayer immediately after use to prevent clogging.

00:00well welcome back and today I'd like to show you something that's been around for a long time you
00:17may have looked in your houses and seen a popcorn ceiling or what we call popcorn texture ceiling
00:23looks like it's been blown up into the ceiling it was pretty popular years ago even they used to
00:28put coloring in it used to put well still do put paint in it used to put sparkles in it to give it
00:35a different look but this is a unit that did that now it's in a comeback on a comeback in some areas
00:42but it's used a lot for fixing some ceilings during renovations where you're trying to blend in a new
00:49new ceiling to an older ceiling that is a popcorn finish on it I would the real secret to putting
00:56textured ceiling spray onto your ceiling is number one make sure that your drywall that you're
01:03spraying on is prepared properly this is a decorative finish it's not a cover-up so what I mean by that is
01:12your drywall should be painted should be nice and white and the the sanding should be all done and
01:20it should be nice and smooth as if you would leave it the way it is because this is going to go on and
01:27add that texture to it but it could also enhance bad bad areas of your ceiling if they're not done
01:34right so don't think this is going to fill up the gaps where the joints are for the drywall now you can
01:40adjust excuse me you can adjust the spray which is on the nozzle here very common where it is right
01:48now you can see the hole this will decide whether it's a wider or narrower spray particularly if you're
01:55doing a touch-up you probably want it on a narrow one maybe only only to spray where the header was or
02:01the partition for the wall and the how much you spray is determined by how far you pull back the trigger
02:07these do require some maintenance to make sure they're kept clean and they don't get stuck and
02:17then the next biggest thing of course is what we call the soup or the the material that you put in
02:22this hopper to spray it's got to be right all that comes out of this spray nozzle when this unit is hooked
02:29up is air comes out of the center hole the air is coming out steadily and when you pull back the trigger
02:36the medium that you have in the hopper is going to flow by gravity in front of it and then it sprays
02:43out kind of like a pattern and in that case obviously this has to be able to flow down to that nozzle so
02:53if it's not you don't take the time to stir it with a mixer a lot of times the texture spray that you
02:59buy maybe a medium texture you make sure that you add water and you mix it up really well also a good
03:07idea is to add some paint and different mixing ratios there are but you can add maybe some paint
03:16and that'll give it some substance when you spray it on the ceiling and you get those bugs going across
03:21your ceiling and you want to get that spider you don't knock off all your texture spray off of the
03:26ceiling it gives it some some holding factor so and allows you to rub on it a bit so a good idea
03:33is paint and it again like I say it it can be colored different colored paints it doesn't really
03:38matter white by far is the the most common but there's different things that have been at gold and
03:45silver specs were added but in any case that's it to your imagination so in this you have an air hose
03:52this black air hose is just going to hook onto the back of the gun the yellow is the plug just plug it
03:59in and like I said keep the unit here you got about 25 feet of hose you don't need the unit in the room
04:06that you're spraying unless it's a huge room or then you can put a piece of cardboard over it not plastic
04:11the compressor has to breathe but put cardboard over it if it has to be near where you're spraying but in
04:17most cases you've got a plastic off you got the door plastic off because it is kind of messy falls
04:22to the floor then keep it outside the room and just bring the hopper and the hose inside your room
04:27saves you a lot of cleaning because there's no need to have it inside the room it's actually better
04:32outside the room it's not going to be in your way and as you're moving around concentrating on your
04:37ceiling while you're spraying you're not going to trip or run into the unit so you'll put your medium
04:43usually have five gallon pail steady put it in the pail fill it up maybe halfway to start and don't
04:49forget to have the hopper on don't change this hopper because as you tip it up this stops it
04:54from falling right on your head and it has been done where people have put the hopper on had the
04:59hopper off put it back on and had a nice spray over top of their head with the mix so hold it up
05:05the distance will determine how you put it on hold it on and make sure you go on a steady flow all the
05:11way back and forth none of this stuff like this because you're going to get it on thicker and
05:15spots than other spots so you want to go on nice and even all the way across you can let go come
05:21back all the way just as if your paint spraying same idea your edges you can take it troweled off
05:26and make a nice edge to it if you want with your putty knife but don't forget the material does fall
05:32down so it is it is on the messy side so cover yourself up sometimes you can get those cheap fabric
05:40coveralls white coveralls and a cap and you'll be fine and you put this on fairly easily yourself
05:47does take sometimes a couple of times to do trial trial and error but the main key is the mix make
05:55sure you get it the right consistency so it flows down into the hopper get it too runny it's going to
05:59run out the end be a big mess you get it too chunky and it won't flow down in front of the air
06:04the air spray so there's something to give a try to and good luck with it and hopefully we'll see
06:11you again soon and don't forget to subscribe
