00:16easier definitely this particular item is used in those ugly jobs when you've got VCT tile
00:23linoleum thinner materials stuck down in with that an old black glue could be on wood could be on
00:31concrete but this is a tool that's going to do the back and forth motion for you to try and get these
00:39materials off the floor now these blades that come with them or now come with them but you purchase
00:45the blades are beveled and on the top of the machine it'll mention to you that the bevel down
00:50is for wood so you can glide across it and the bevel up for doing it on concrete so the trick is
00:58to loosen off these X nuts here it'll drop down the plate holder and you'll put this says plastic on
01:14it right now but this will slide into there and stick out now usually I start about an inch and a
01:21quarter or so inch to inch and a half sticking out from the unit and then clamp it back down and make
01:27sure that you clamp it back down with the proper size wrench don't try and use vice grips or pliers
01:33get the proper size wrench not not a pipe wrench to mess up the hex drive that way you get this good and
01:41tight because if you do pull this out a bit and you want it out farther then all it's going to do
01:46is push right back in if you don't get it down tight so that way you can get it sometimes in the
01:52it'll work better if it's a little less sticking out I've had it in as far as an inch sometimes I've
01:58had it up on an inch and a half it works a little better you seem to be able to get a little flex in
02:02the blade if you got some of those gummy materials or a lot of times the VTC tiles by the time you get to
02:08using this tiny equipment are so old and brittle that they break off in little pieces so you have
02:13to find the spot that works best a little bit of trial and error this is a weight on the front so
02:19you have some weight on that blade so it gives it some bite and the way you use this is not necessarily
02:26just using your hands and trying to push it get your waist into it your buckle area lift it up off the
02:34wheels and push with your body that makes it a lot less tiresome now don't forget this has a lot of
02:40shaking to it but then you can maneuver it a little bit back and forth up and down with your legs and
02:45you're not trying to do everything with your arms this is this machine and a floor maintainer operate
02:51fairly close to the same having the the handles right into your waist and then go across now the
02:59other trick is sometimes if tile have been down so long particularly in some of the plants and maybe
03:06even tow motors have riven over you can't even see the seams some heat ahead of it if it's on concrete
03:12you can use flame heat a torch if it's on wood sometimes you can use a heat gun to warm up the
03:18tile and sometimes that makes it a little easier to get them off just a little thing that might help you
03:23out so there's a tool that saves a lot of jamming back and forth particularly far better than trying
03:30to use a shovel or anything and a in the hand scraper particularly a small one so give that a
