00:00O que vai acontecer agora?
00:05O que vai acontecer agora?
00:05O que vai acontecer agora?
00:06A great start for Jett Lawrence
00:07no número 1.
00:09Leads him into turn 1.
00:10E o seu irmão é no 96, Hunter Lawrence.
00:13A melhor start for Lucas Kuna.
00:15Ele realmente foi um trabalho
00:16porque ele foi um descoberto
00:18de um pouco da H.R.C. Honda Boys.
00:22Mas parece que ele pode ir
00:23para Aaron Plessinger,
00:24um temporário para o weekend.
00:271, 2, 3.
00:29So, 2 Honda's in red,
00:302 orange KTMs, Plessinger on the 7.
00:33Oh, no!
00:34And just like that, Hunter Lawrence is down.
00:36Ah, bummer for Hunter.
00:37That's a tough position to be in.
00:39Opening lap, they put a little bit of water down so easily.
00:42Easily that can happen,
00:44but that's going to be costly for him
00:45because he came into this moto only one point ahead
00:48of his brother after the penalty,
00:49so Hunter's got to get to work.
00:51He has the red plate of the bike because he was the
00:53championship leader coming in.
00:55That is an uncharacteristic mistake
00:56from the very consistent 96.
01:00So, he's got work to do.
01:02He's around the top 10 right now.
01:07Trying to see where Haid. Haid's running about
01:09seventh right now, so...
01:13And shout out, you see in green, Garrett Marchbanks.
01:16A lot of penalties to other riders in that moto.
01:18Marchbanks is the one that got credited
01:20with third in the first race earlier today,
01:23which is his second best finish ever in this class.
01:26He could even be in contention to win the race,
01:29depending on how it unfolds.
01:30But right now, Jet Lawrence doing what he does.
01:34A lot of concern for him coming into this championship
01:37off of a very serious foot and ankle injury.
01:42Was not his normal self at the opening round two weeks ago,
01:45but he won last weekend, and he's in control early today.
01:48Yeah, if you're Jet, you know, the one thing
01:51where you heard him on the podium, he said that,
01:53you know, it wasn't his foot.
01:54He just needed to find the flow.
01:55Well, he kind of found it at the end of that first moto.
01:57So the scary part for all these other guys
01:59is that he comes out a little bit different track,
02:02and he finds that flow a lot earlier.
02:04And he's going to find it if you give him this gap
02:06as he got about two and a half seconds over Lucas Kunin.
02:09So Kunin, the 19-year-old leading the MXGP championship
02:13based in Europe.
02:14What a performance, jumping into racing
02:16in pro motocross in America for the first time.
02:19Now, there is Hunter Lawrence,
02:20who went down on that first lap
02:22with that orange-yellow gear challenging RJ Hampshire.
02:25That crash bumped him from second to seventh.
02:30Yeah, you got to watch some of the different lines.
02:32Hunter Lawrence has.
02:33He should have a run up RJ right here.
02:35RJ starts to close that gap.
02:37RJ has been around the block before,
02:38but Hunter had a great run.
02:40He tried again.
02:41And I believe, hey, Deacon's right in front of both of them.
02:43So the 96 up the stands, I needed to get moving.
02:46And that same section that he went down early,
02:49you notice that he didn't go inside there.
02:51He followed RJ to the outside.
02:52And that, to me, believes that that corner has to be a lot wetter
02:55that we can see on TV.
02:57And so it's just too tough right now.
02:58Yeah, it's too tough.
02:59Otherwise, he would have just dove to the inside.
03:01He probably would have had that pass made, so.
03:03So checking in on Hayden Deacon here.
03:05He's battling his teammate Webb on the number two.
03:07Deacon has that blue and yellow gear.
03:10And just ahead of Hampshire on the 24.
03:13Two battles starting to collide now.
03:16This Hampshire-Lawrence battle.
03:18And then Webb and Deacon right ahead of them.
03:20That's 4th through 7th.
03:22Yeah, if you're Hunter Lawrence, what do you want?
03:24You know, hey, Deacon's going to be upset after what happened.
03:27The penalty, because he felt, hey, fair game, right?
03:30Everybody else is taking it.
03:31He's probably going to be upset as he's able to get around Cooper Webb.
03:34I think Webb waved a bot.
03:35So Webb take a handoff in that corner.
03:37Not sure maybe if he was getting a little tight in the arms
03:39or if he was a wave.
03:40And there goes Lawrence.
03:43Yeah, probably Cooper's pulling a tear off, got cross-bredded.
03:45Nothing left.
03:46Okay.
03:47Oh, Hunter Lawrence not messing around.
03:50He's going for two passes now.
03:51And he has it.
03:52Yeah, great boos by Hunter Lawrence.
03:55He's about to make that pass.
03:56You see how difficult it is for God to get around.
03:59And actually, Hunter, over the last couple laps,
04:00he's made quite a bit of passes.
04:02Earlier, we were saying Garrett Marks brings him right in front of him.
04:04So, him to be able to get back up.
04:06Now he's in 5th.
04:08Hey, Deacon right in front of him.
04:11Hefshire, the veteran out of Florida on the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna.
04:15And then a big pack back here.
04:17That is what motocross is known for.
04:1940 riders on the track.
04:20And there are battles all over it.
04:24And Hunter Lawrence wants to get into another one.
04:26He has cleared Webb and Hefshire.
04:28He wants to get to Deacon.
04:31Plessica running strong in 3rd.
04:35Hey, you can see these guys trying to tiptoe.
04:37Especially this next motocross.
04:39Hunter Lawrence started losing the front end.
04:41And so, they fixed some of these sections to buy, you know,
04:44clean it up because of all the rust.
04:45But when they do that, they bring all that blue stuff back on top.
04:48So, partly why Hunter Lawrence probably went down.
04:51Really, really slippery racetrack right now.
04:54Jorge Prado in orange on the 26th.
04:58Making moves.
04:59He's all over Webb.
05:01You know, these guys ain't strangers.
05:02Go back to the Supercross.
05:04They had some incidents, let's just say the least.
05:07So, Cooper Webb, I don't think you'll be raising the hand up to let Jorge buy this photo.
05:12Almost had another one right there.
05:14Front wheel from Prado.
05:15Awfully close to the leg of the number two of Webb.
05:19Veteran out of North Carolina.
05:22And there's Prado.
05:23The Spaniard found a line on the inside.
05:26Ah, what a move by Jorge.
05:27Cooper stood it up in that corner.
05:29Jorge doped it inside.
05:32Interesting scenario for Prado.
05:34Multi-time champ in that MXGP series.
05:37Start of the year with a very strong second place finish.
05:40Last week, bike problems.
05:42He's now way back in the championship.
05:44You would think he'd want to rally to get back in.
05:47That first moto was good, not great.
05:49Let's see if he can get a little closer to the front on that 26th.
05:53Yeah, hopefully Jorge continues to do that because clearly he's still good enough to win these races and fight for
05:59this championship.
06:00But at the same time, it's like he goes down.
06:03He has that bike mechanical last weekend.
06:06Bad start on the outside.
06:07And sometimes his riding is not necessarily indicative of how his riding results.
06:12Don't stop matching his riding.
06:14So hopefully he can continue that attitude and keep fighting.
06:16Just remember how good he's riding.
06:18because I hate to see him kind of bow out this early because of some instant moves.
06:23March banks on that green Kawasaki.
06:25Making moves.
06:26Again, he is the one credited with third in the first race earlier today due to all the penalties.
06:32He's not done.
06:34Going after Prado.
06:36Yeah, we saw Garrett a lot of times last year in the GPD class.
06:39He just seemed to come out of nowhere using these outside lines, throwing those legs out.
06:43Really religious, using that momentum around the racetrack.
06:47And I think the way this track is being slippery, it might help a rider like Garrett using these outside.
06:53Because of his long legs, he's kind of used that to balance.
06:55And so far, third that first moto and top ten this next one, it might be a good day for
07:00Kawasaki, which they need.
07:03Yeah, they lost his teammate Chase Sexton a big crash yesterday.
07:07So Sexton not competing today.
07:09But March banks carrying the flag for the boys in green, Will.
07:13Yeah, and those boys in green over that Monster Energy Kawasaki have been working incredibly hard, Jason, to get both
07:19Chase Sexton, who we were talking about there, out with that crash yesterday.
07:22And his teammate, Garrett March banks on screen now.
07:26Getting the bike where they need it to be.
07:28Garrett told me, I have never tested so much in my entire life.
07:31And it was a good feeling for him for that finally to be coming together and it's showing in the
07:36results.
07:36And the team spoke to me and said, hey, this is us.
07:39Yes, but it's a combination too.
07:40This is about Garrett in his comfortable place.
07:43They're referring to him racing outdoors here in Pro Motor Club.
07:46He just said he's confidence building.
07:47They can see it.
07:48It's boosting the team morale.
07:50It's boosting Garrett's morale.
07:51And these results just keep building off the back of it.
07:55And the team will have said they're very impressed with the testing abilities of March banks.
07:59James, you can speak to that.
08:00All the riders will try different parts of the motorcycles, but not everyone's created equal as far as understanding what
08:06the bike is doing and what they need.
08:08Yeah, absolutely.
08:09I mean, we just watched the got a shot of Lucas and then Sasha couldn't and they're twins, but they're
08:14completely different personalities on how they ride a motorcycle.
08:17So you can imagine that as teammates.
08:19Yeah, you can help each other out, but Garrett rides a lot different than Chase.
08:23So maybe what doesn't work for Chase works for Garrett.
08:26And I think it's important for the team to keep that morale up to let Garrett know we're here believing
08:31in you just like they believe in Chase in each one of these riders.
08:34After the results come, the team will get better.
08:37The bike will get better.
08:38And Garrett is now starting to believe as he's going up against 4A Prada, trying to make that pass for
08:43second spot.
08:45Great racing here.
08:47Enjoy the sounds of the SMX World Championship.
09:16Let's go!
09:46. . .
09:46. . .
10:16. . .
10:17. . .
10:17. . .
10:18. . .
10:22. . .
10:26. . .
10:28. . .
10:31. . .
10:32. . .
10:33. . .
10:40. . .
10:41. . . .
10:44. . .
10:47. . .
10:47. . .
10:47. . .
10:47. . .
10:52. . . .
10:52. . . .
10:53. . . .
11:03. . . .
11:04. . . .
11:06. . . .
11:08Então, ele foi penalizado na primeira moto hoje.
11:10Ele me deu a 11ª posição no start, o 11ª gate-pick.
11:15A bad start, durante a break,
11:18made a move on Aaron Plessinger.
11:19That will move him up to 3ª,
11:21a 20-year-old, giving the Monster Energy rider check-in
11:25with some of the athletes on the track right now.
11:28Deegan's in 3ª, there's Chet Lawrence in the lead.
11:32Stretching to about 4¢ over Lucas Coonan.
11:35Deegan, 13¢ back.
11:37That check-in of the Monster Energy back riders,
11:39you got Deegan, 3rd, March Banks, running well.
11:42He is 8ª right now, Cooper Webb back 2ª.
11:44Here is the leader, Chet Lawrence, injured or not, 100% or not,
11:49figuring out ways to get it done each weekend.
11:53Yeah, Chet looks, to me, a little bit better.
11:56This moto, you got to assume that.
11:57He's probably a little bit more warmed up,
11:59figured out that track, that last lap,
12:00and since Lucas has not put too much pressure on him,
12:03he's able to explore and run these lines.
12:05That's, we'll say, great ride by Hayden Deegan.
12:09Oh, it goes to my point on how slippery this racetrack is,
12:13and I think that's why you get that cat and mouse,
12:15where guys are so close and then they just lose it.
12:18A simple mistake like that, Hayden Deegan almost goes down,
12:20but saves it.
12:24Plessinger, the cowboy, as the fans call him here.
12:27He is a wild man off the track, so fun, so friendly.
12:30Every rider signs autographs at these races.
12:33They usually have a table with their autograph stock.
12:35He usually walks out beside the truck to take selfies,
12:39get a little closer to the fans.
12:40Saw him having a great time this afternoon.
12:42Even though he's riding with sore ribs, still in a great mood,
12:45but how long can he hang on to fourth because the number seven
12:49is going to have to deal with Hunter Lawrence, who's closing in.
12:52Yeah, Aaron, it's good to see him up here.
12:54I took my kids to Daytona this year, and they saw Aaron.
12:56They literally almost jumped out of the truck trying to get his autograph.
12:59I'm not being the most popular seven in my house.
13:02That was your racing number.
13:02That was it.
13:03So I was number seven.
13:05I let Aaron have it, and he took me over into Stewart household.
13:10Well, fourth might get taken over by Hunter Lawrence,
13:12who fell early in this race.
13:15Hunter came in as the championship leader, but if it ends like this,
13:19Jen Lawrence will take over the series lead.
13:21A good day for Hunter, but two costly mistakes.
13:24A crash late in the first race, a crash early in the second race.
13:28And if you look at the left side of Hunter's helmet, see some tear-offs.
13:34The goggle lens starting to flap around.
13:36Now, that could be one loose, or does that mean maybe he's got the whole thing?
13:39Next time we see Hunter, we'll keep an eye on that.
13:42Yeah, we'll pay attention.
13:43A lot of times those guys, they'll go to pull it, and there's two tabs on it,
13:46so you have to pull it all the way off.
13:48And it's easy to just pull one because you're trying to get your hands back on there,
13:51and that's what leaves that tear all flapping.
13:53So good thing with Hunter, this track is not a sticky racetrack.
13:57So even if he doesn't have any, he could probably wipe some of the stuff off
14:00because the soil's not sticking to his face like some other racetracks.
14:04And he either pulled the tear-off or wiped right there in midair.
14:08JT.
14:09Watching Jet Lawrence here, and he's just out there doing Jet things.
14:13What I mean by that is he's so responsive to any attack from behind him.
14:17Lucas Coon, in two or three laps to go, put in his best lap,
14:20tried to mount what looked like a charge.
14:22Immediately, Jet went out and put in his best lap right behind it.
14:26So he's very good at this, and what seems like a battle could be mounting,
14:30I think Jet always just has a little bit in his back pocket to be able to answer that.
14:34It's been kind of the calling card of his career.
14:37I talked to his father, Darren, this morning,
14:39and this has been a long-going conversation because to your point, JT,
14:42we've seen Jet ride that way for several years now,
14:45and a lot of it is energy management.
14:47The idea for Hunter and Jet is they will use the energy in burst when they need it,
14:51but they're not going to waste it when they don't.
14:54And a lot of times, it looks like someone's got a hook in them.
14:57Yeah, then they use the burst when they have to.
14:59Well, I think he's using a burst right now.
15:01You know, the way he's going down that hill,
15:04you see someone to chatter out of his bike.
15:06To me, that's telling him he's starting to charge because I think he senses that.
15:09Maybe if he can get another second and two,
15:11maybe Lucas would be happy just being here in America, leave Jet alone.
15:15But he's got to put in that time just like he did last weekend.
15:17All right, the burst from Lawrence.
15:18Can he outlast Kunin halfway through this moto?
15:21A reminder, stock up on a Monster Energy drink.
15:26Lawrence has the gap a little over four seconds.
15:30And the injury to his right foot.
15:32You see, he has to take off the peg to clear that rut there.
15:35And a lot of people wondering how he would perform this summer.
15:38He could be taking over the point lead today, Will.
15:41Taking over the point lead with that injury, as you said,
15:44and not riding his usual style, adapting to his new kind of way of riding,
15:50his new way of having to use his foot.
15:51As we see Darren Lawrence's father there in the box lower right.
15:55We didn't know what we were going to see out of Jet Lawrence,
15:58like you said, Jason, coming in.
15:59But he spoke to me yesterday.
16:01I asked him, are you in pain while you're riding?
16:03He said certain things when he talked about riding on the ball of his foot
16:06and that ankle flexing, he's lost a lot of movement in it.
16:09He said, yes, there's pain.
16:11So he showed me a position with his foot where sometimes he has to ride
16:14right foot kind of on the heel and that sort of right toe tips out.
16:18We talked about a little bit earlier.
16:19That means there's potential for catching that toe,
16:22especially when it starts getting deeper ruts like this.
16:24And on top of that, he's had to change his week as well.
16:27He's only riding one day a week.
16:29He said that's likely to be for the foreseeable future
16:32as he has to manage that kind of pain
16:34and make sure he gets it back to a sort of a neutral point
16:37where it's not getting any worse come race day.
16:40So incredible to think that we're seeing this, James,
16:43and this level of performance when he's working around so many factors in it.
16:48Yeah, it is beautiful to watch.
16:50Now we're watching his brother finally get up inside of Aaron Plessinger.
16:53Great job by Hunter.
16:55He's got, hey, Deegan, only a few seconds up the track.
16:57But, yeah, just going back to what we were just talking about with Jet,
17:01the one thing that he does, and I love it
17:03because his injuries caused him to learn a different way to win.
17:08And by doing these short bursts in this race,
17:11Jet knows that he understands, like, he's not going to pull away
17:14to a point to where it's going to drop, like go from four seconds to seven seconds.
17:18But when he does these bursts, it's like an NBA team.
17:22You're hitting three-pointers.
17:24It makes the other team start hitting three-pointers.
17:27And in this position, what it's doing is making these other guys have to pick it up.
17:31on a racetrack that is so slippery by Jet picking that pace up makes them pick the pace up,
17:36which makes them make more mistakes, and that's how he builds his gap.
17:39So pretty cool to watch how he's attacking his racetrack.
17:42And now James is stretching that gap to over five seconds over Kunin,
17:48and he would be the point leader for how he looked in the first qualifying session of the year,
17:56where he was out of the top ten in lap times.
17:58What an incredible adaptation three weeks later for him to be in the series lead.
18:03And as for this young man, the 19-year-old is out of Belgium.
18:07I don't know if he's going to take the measure of Jet Desmodo, but this is a heck of a
18:10debut.
18:11No, it absolutely is.
18:13And the one thing with Jet, he doesn't know Lucas.
18:16So he doesn't know if Lucas is going to continue to respond like he is.
18:19I mean, when Jet goes fast, Lucas goes fast.
18:22And maybe he can do that to other guys and what Jet that is and break him.
18:26Lucas seems to be just steadily there.
18:29And if Jet makes one mistake, he's going to close in.
18:32So because these guys haven't raced each other, you don't know.
18:35And that's part of the thing, the game with the fear.
18:38And Lucas did get it down to under two seconds at the checkered flag of the first race an hour
18:43ago.
18:44And you can see his mechanic, Jay Dungy, telling him, do not give up.
18:47Keep going for the win.
18:48Yeah, he looks good. Will?
18:51He does indeed.
18:52And we saw the two of them, him and his brother, Sasha, there earlier on in that feature.
18:57And I think I counted maybe four or five times throughout that feature, they talked about this being their dream
19:03to race in the U.S.
19:04And I asked them yesterday, why? Why is that?
19:07They're leading their MXGPs back home.
19:10They've got their own titles going on right now.
19:12And they said, we were six years old, sitting with our dad on the couch, watching you, James, go forward
19:20in a Supercross race 2013.
19:22And they said, we want to do that.
19:24At the time, they didn't even know there was a European series.
19:27They didn't even ride dirt bikes until a year later.
19:30So this is all they've known as the goal that they want to reach since they were six-year-old
19:35kids.
19:35And they are so excited when you speak to them to finally be doing this full circle, James.
19:40You calling that race for them, it's very special for them.
19:44And that's awesome.
19:45And to know, like, coming at my age, thinking, having two kids of my own, to be able to be
19:50here in the U.S., but to have an effect on two kids in Belgium, to be able to change
19:56their livelihood or kind of what they want to do is an honor.
19:59So all the kids out there, you know, that's great.
20:02These two kids are living the dream.
20:05What they're doing over in Europe right now is phenomenal, record-breaking.
20:08And then for him coming here, really cool.
20:11So it means a lot.
20:12Thank you.
20:13And Lucas and Sasha will be back for two more races in America later this summer.
20:17Let's check in with Hayden Deegan here in third.
20:20So it got away.
20:21The penalty in the first moto, that was a big one in points.
20:26And then that results in a worse start position in this one.
20:30Do we still see signs of improvement in his third full-time 450 race today?
20:34Yes, yes, improvement.
20:36I mean, to me, this second moto, I mean, even though he rode great that first one, this second moto
20:40is more impressive to me because it looks like he figured out whatever he did in that first moto calmed
20:44down.
20:45And he had Hunter Lawrence right behind him.
20:47Sasha, I mean, Lucas and Jet, they're too far up front.
20:51But, hey, Deegan's doing great, JT.
20:53He is.
20:53And you know the biggest difference that I noticed, James?
20:55The first two races, the results were, I don't know, similar to what we're seeing here today.
21:01But he was okay with it.
21:02He was satisfied.
21:03He said, hey, we're going to continue to work.
21:04We'll get there.
21:05After that first moto, there was no satisfaction.
21:08There was no happiness.
21:09There was no settling.
21:10There was pure anger that he did not seal the deal in that first moto.
21:15That is a big difference in sentiment.
21:17And it shows you his target is changing.
21:20He wants to go in.
21:21But I think the first two, he just realized he wasn't ready yet.
21:24Yeah, no, that's what we went out there.
21:26I was like, uh-oh, uh-oh.
21:28That's what I was talking about, his attitude.
21:29And you can just hear it.
21:31That goalpost is changing for them.
21:33And that only comes from being able to battle with those guys.
21:36Last weekend, he was battling with them, but he really wasn't.
21:40Today, he battled with these guys.
21:42And if he can able to get to this, uh, hold off Hunter Lawrence for the third,
21:45this moto is going to be great.
21:47Big steps for the 450 rookie.
21:50There's Jett Lawrence.
21:51Got the lead up to 5.2 seconds now.
21:54Can he win two weekends in a row, even while riding through injury?
21:58Stay with us.
22:28Six seconds around now.
23:00And then there's Jett Lawrence.
23:02You got the head right there.
23:05It's up here.
23:05I don't think that's something you think they're gonna get to.
23:08I don't think that's something that's available.
23:14Cool.
23:21Yeah.
23:23Yeah.
23:24Yeah.
23:24Yeah.
23:26Yeah.
23:26Yeah.
23:26Yeah.
23:27Yeah.
23:27Yeah.
23:28. . .
23:57. . .
24:08Chet Lawrence continues to lead Monster Energy SFX Pro Motocross from Thunder Valley in Colorado.
24:15If you just look at the results, it's so similar.
24:18Ryder who jumped into this class with a perfect season in 2023, won the title again last year.
24:23But this year there was some doubt with injury.
24:25He's going to erase those doubts when we go a little bit further back.
24:28Jorge Prado has made the move on his Red Bull KTM teammate, Aaron Plessinger.
24:33The two riders of the Orange Motorcycles, Prado in fifth, Plessinger sixth, Garrett Marchbanks here, the 36th.
24:40Looking to follow Prado through.
24:41He has been shadowing Prado this whole race, and he goes by Plessinger again.
24:45Yeah, you can start to see Aaron sit down a little bit, and that's because he missed a lot of
24:48racing this year.
24:49Being at altitude, this track isn't tough enough when you've been racing, so it's not surprising to Aaron.
24:55He's going to probably suffer a little bit in the second moto, but still, great job considering what we saw
24:59last weekend.
25:01And Marchbanks, just a steady climb in his first full 450 season.
25:07He was third in the championship on the 250s last year, but then Prado was actually on this team last
25:12year.
25:13He left.
25:13They had an opening, so they moved Marchbanks up.
25:16A bit of a slow start to it in Supercross.
25:18Started to round in a warm toward the end, and more improvements here.
25:21We've got the red cross flag out.
25:24That means no jumping with that rider down being attended to by the FedEx.
25:28And now the race pace resumes from Prado and Marchbanks.
25:34Yeah, both these guys are doing good.
25:38Just like the first moto, Jorge is kind of stuck in that no man's land.
25:42I mean, he has Garrett behind him, but there's really nobody in front of him after they made that pass.
25:46Aaron got 10 seconds to Hunter Lauren, so you've got to keep focused with four minutes left.
25:53Hunter Lauren at one point, he was three seconds down on Deegan.
25:57Deegan stretched it to about five.
26:01Now Hunter beginning to close in just a little bit.
26:04Four minutes and two laps to go.
26:06Could there be a fight for third before this one is over?
26:09Here is Hunter inching up a bit on Deegan.
26:16Yeah, you start to wonder how much of a chance that Hunter is going to take,
26:20but I feel like this is where the personal side comes in.
26:24You just want to continue to fight, and every point matters.
26:26And he's going to lose that red plate.
26:28Things stay the same to his brother, but those two points.
26:31You just saw it in Supercross.
26:34How, you know, one point manages the whole championship.
26:37If anybody knows how important this pass might be for a long term, it's not a long term.
26:41Absolutely, Hunter and Ken Rockson went down to the wire in the stadium.
26:45Monster Energy Supercross season.
26:47And this crowd sensing a late battle between Deegan and Laurence.
26:51And that will be two championship points on the line here.
26:55Difference team, a third and a fourth.
26:57Hunter's closing rapidly now.
26:59And we've got to see this all day.
27:01You know, guys make a mistake as Hunter ducks his head.
27:03He's able to close in, but on this track, closing in on a guy and passing him is another different
27:09story.
27:10And as long as Hayden makes these do these corners, it's going to be hard for Hunter.
27:14They've got to slow down here because that red flag, great cross flag.
27:21And now back up to speed.
27:24Plenty of time here.
27:28Four laps to go.
27:31There's Hunt, who's Grant Hutcherson filling in, I believe.
27:34It's a mechanic today for Hunter.
27:36And he goes back to work.
27:40Yeah, Hayden Deegan's a smart rider as well.
27:42I mean, we've seen him do the same thing in what Jant Lawrence is doing out front.
27:46Let Hunter catch you.
27:47You know he's going to be there.
27:48Maybe let him catch you.
27:50You put a push.
27:51Maybe Hunter makes a mistake.
27:52Because it seems like as soon as Hunter got there, Hayden, make that pace up.
27:55Absolutely.
27:56He's going to try to fight it to the end.
27:57Okay, so now we know Deegan has something left in the tank to dig with.
28:01Hunter does not want to let this go, though.
28:05Saw Hayden coming up that hill.
28:07That takes so much energy on this racetrack because of the altitude.
28:11And it's strictly uphill.
28:12A lot of energy holding on to that 450.
28:24Hunter to the outside.
28:26It's going to be the inside of the next turn.
28:28Not close enough.
28:29Yeah, he really can't do anything because there's nothing for him to bank off of.
28:33So Hunter wants to get on the gas, but it's completely loose out there.
28:37So he has to wait.
28:38Now he's starting to set those passes up, finding some different lines.
28:41Because I believe he's going to have to probably hit a new line that he hasn't done to get around
28:45eight.
28:45And he's going to run those same ones.
28:49Clock is ticking.
28:50When it goes to zero, there will be two laps to go.
28:52You see the clock on the upper left.
28:59Different line here.
29:01Almost side by side.
29:03Yep, now Hunter has the option.
29:05He did a great job.
29:06See, there was that inside contact.
29:08Got it.
29:10Now that pass was set up going down that hill because of that option.
29:13But now, Hunter, you better get away.
29:15You know that 38, he loves his life.
29:18Oh, yeah, Danger Boy.
29:19He likes that type of combat.
29:24Hunter locking it down.
29:27Oh, great recovery by Hunter.
29:28He missed this run.
29:30Still did a good job at trying to stay on the inside.
29:34Show you this pass again.
29:36You're going to see, now Hunter's just a little bit wide.
29:38But now he's going to set up.
29:39And didn't think he was going to have the pass.
29:41But when Hayden had that little hesitation, Hunter saw that opportunity.
29:44And he knew he was going to make contact.
29:46And the worst thing that was going to happen was the 38 was going to go down.
29:49Hunter Lawrence made a strong pass into that third position.
29:53So when you calculate the two races together, it's going to put Hunter Lawrence third for the day.
30:00Lucas Coon in second.
30:02Jett Lawrence did have the win.
30:03And the championship points you can see on the lower left.
30:05Jett Lawrence would take the point lead.
30:07But at one point, it would have been a nine-point gap.
30:09It is now six as Hunter has made a couple of passes, gone around Plessinger, and gone around Deegan.
30:15Oh, and just like that, he's down again.
30:21Yeah, I was just listening to Hayden's bike.
30:23And the reason that was caused, because I believe Hunter knew he wanted to break Hayden.
30:28He's got to pick this bike up.
30:29And here comes Prado and March Banks, who are still battling.
30:35Now, how hard is it to get back up to pace?
30:37Yeah, what Hunter's got to do is at least keep Jorge behind him right now and maybe take a break,
30:42because he knows Forbes is going to be where he's going to finish this moto.
30:46Take a break in these one-line race sections as he almost goes down again.
30:51Wow.
30:52Ah, that's a tough break.
30:53Will?
30:54James, I'm looking at this.
30:56We've seen this kind of back and forth between Hunter, Lawrence, and Hayden Deegan here through both of the motos.
31:02They've both kind of gotten the better of each other.
31:05There's been mistakes.
31:06There's been penalties.
31:08This is a bit of a mental chess match.
31:10When you leave Thunder Valley, if you're either of these two today, who got the better of who?
31:14Who has the mental advantage now going into the next round?
31:17Well, I mean, that's a hard question.
31:19I do believe both of them are mentally strong in two different ways.
31:23I just, after what happened at Supercross with Hunter to bounce back that first race,
31:27I don't think there's anything that could really get to him.
31:30You know, and Hayden Deegan, I feel like with him, he's gained that confidence.
31:34So, as I say, it's hard to tell, because nothing's going to change with Hunter.
31:38Hunter's going to be Hunter, but Hayden Deegan's going to gain.
31:40How does that play out throughout the season?
31:42I would say the biggest winner today would probably be Hayden Deegan,
31:46because now you've heard of him in between that moto.
31:49Now, even though he's got to beat Hunter because Hunter goes down, he still has a win.
31:53But they're still chasing this guy.
31:54They still got to figure out this scenario, and nobody has so far this year yet.
31:59Yes, that's Jet Lawrence up front.
32:01But Deegan, after that first race, said he thought Jet was looking back.
32:05Jet knows he's there.
32:06He's starting to hear the confidence, the chirping that Deegan is known for.
32:11Yeah, and that's why I go back to kind of that winning of Hayden Deegan.
32:17And, you know, sometimes you can win without winning, and I believe that today is that day for Hayden.
32:22Now, last weekend, he knew the pace with Dolores.
32:25He says, hey, he got the ride with him, got the battle with him, but he knew he wasn't close.
32:28Today, he's going to go off that first moto.
32:30I'm like, I could have had him.
32:31I made these mistakes.
32:32The second moto, I felt like I rode better.
32:35Ended up, you know, losing a little bit of ground.
32:36So, I think there's more positive, but if things would have changed, I would have beaten this guy compared to
32:41last weekend where he was like, yeah, I was there, but I really wasn't there.
32:44I feel like he has a better shot going into next weekend, and it's fine.
32:48JT.
32:49Yeah, just to add to that thought a little bit, I kind of felt like Hayden was better in race
32:54one just due to the track conditions.
32:56You know, he still wants to be really aggressive with the throttle application, and I just felt like he was
33:01a little more equipped for the fight in the first moto than this one.
33:04You know, Hunter kind of pushed him out of the way there.
33:06I think Hunter would have gotten away had he not fallen, but some of that I just think is due
33:10to the track going away a little bit, and you need a little bit more throttle control in race two,
33:14and Hayden hasn't really mastered that quite yet on the 450.
33:17Yeah, no, I agree.
33:18Tate definitely looked more racier, like, in that first race.
33:21Like, he was more competitive to win.
33:23What I was impressed with is that all those mistakes that he made on the track that had better traction,
33:28it seemed like he got better at this moto.
33:30So I don't know if the team went back and figured out some things, made some changes, but he looked
33:34more, just saw it, and he made his way up.
33:36Hunter was definitely going to get the better at one that this moto, but to me, the Hayden, I see
33:42an improvement.
33:43I like what I see.
33:46Jett Lawrence likes what he sees, James.
33:48White flag, one lap to go.
33:49He has outlasted the challenge for the very capable visitor, the young Lucas Kunin, who will end up second.
33:56And Hunter is barely clinging to that final overall podium spot, as Jett's barely clinging to the racetrack there at
34:02the top of that hill.
34:04Marchbanks has been shadowing Prado the entire race.
34:07If Marchbanks can make the pass on Prado on this last lap, he will go third overall today and get
34:13the stand on the podium and spray the champagne.
34:15If he can't make the pass, Hunter Lawrence will hang on.
34:18And well done, welcome to America, Lucas Kunin.
34:21He wasn't able to solve Jett Lawrence, but look, Jett has won.
34:25This is incredible.
34:2726 out of the 30 races he has been in in 450 pro motocross.
34:31So solving this riddle, not easy for anyone.
34:34No, it's not, but I'm impressed by Lucas because, you know, we talked about it earlier.
34:38He's winning his championship over in Europe, and sure, as happy as the team want him to succeed, they don't
34:46want any opportunity.
34:47If something happens over, he gets hurt, there's a lot of pressure for him.
34:50So he's kind of stuck in a spot to where he wants to race this guy, but he also understands
34:54that the last thing he can do is come over and get hurt.
34:57How do you race like that?
34:58This kid showed me a lot today.
35:00Very impressed.
35:01Obviously, Jett Lawrence is still next level, only getting better, but you can't be nothing but impressed by all these
35:07guys, especially Lucas Kunin.
35:09The state of the sport is quite good when you've got this type of young talent, the Lawrence's, Deegan, and
35:15now Lucas Kunin,
35:16who would like to be able to race this championship full-time in the future.
35:19He certainly showed he could be a contender somewhere down the road, but Jett Lawrence, the story remains the same.
35:27Hurt or not, when he is on the racetrack in 450 Pro Motocross, he's about as close to unbeatable as
35:33you can be.
35:35Bringing it home two weekends in a row, he's going to win both motos, shows the number one, and shows
35:42why.
35:44Still dominant, still the man, Jett Lawrence conquers Thunder Valley and Pro Motocross.
35:52And Lucas Kunin, in his first Pro Motocross race in America, second in both motos, very impressive.
36:01Deegan is going to outlast Hunter Lawrence.
36:04There was a good battle that Lawrence crashed.
36:06Deegan will take third in this individual race, will likely be sixth overall due to the crashes and penalty in
36:14Moto 1.
36:15I'm looking at the background, I believe, uh, was Hunter putting it in one last charge?
36:22He was.
36:22Cut the gap back down about in half.
36:25There is Prado, and Marchbanks was not able to get him, so that will mean that Hunter...
