00:00Are you ankle-deep even into the NFL player prop streets yet for 2026?
00:08I'll hang up and listen.
00:09You know, I appreciate the question.
00:11I'll take the question, but you know that.
00:14Of course not.
00:14No, of course not.
00:16That's Sean McDermott.
00:17That's not something I would dabble in.
00:22Remember how if you asked Sean McDermott a question he didn't want to answer,
00:25he would say, I appreciate that question.
00:27I know why you're asking.
00:30And then he would say nothing.
00:31I appreciate that question.
00:33You should not appreciate that question.
00:34I knew the answer before I even spat it out.
00:37Of course you're not in the ankles, the whatever.
00:40Player prop streets.
00:42I'm not even sure Sam would be.
00:43I don't even know where the street is.
00:45I haven't even loaded it into my maps yet.
00:47I don't know how to get there.
00:49Sam's over here moving and starting new jobs.
00:52As avid a competitor as Sam is, I doubt he's, well, we'll find out.
00:57Sam Peniotovic, Fox Sports, Fox Chicago with us on the West Her Hotline.
01:03Are you into, I mean, you're not drafting fantasy teams, I'm pretty sure.
01:07Are you into individual NFL stuff yet?
01:09Maybe awards?
01:11No.
01:11And I heard you bring up that you were looking for the exact order of the Atlantic Division.
01:15And I'm like, I really hope he doesn't ask me to do that because I haven't even, Mike,
01:20Mike, I haven't even found a place to live yet, let alone think about next hockey season.
01:25Let the record show.
01:27Yet here you are on a summer Friday at 3.30 with us.
01:31You are a horse is what you are.
01:33If there's, I'm glad you said horse with an S.
01:37Thank you so much for saying that.
01:38But if there was ever a question about how much I love this show, I moved to Chicago Monday
01:45and went through the first four days of work.
01:47I get off work yesterday at Hallis Hall, which is where the Bears practice, and I'm driving
01:52back to the south side with my photographer, and tornadoes are ripping through Chicago.
01:57Like, no joke.
01:58Like, severe storms, tornadoes.
02:00Because most of the south side of Chicago, like from 95th to 111th, where I'm hanging
02:05out the last couple days, is without cell phone service.
02:09Wow.
02:09So my buddy that I'm staying with doesn't have Wi-Fi either.
02:14They knocked his Wi-Fi out.
02:15So I drove from his house like 20 minutes away just to have cell service to talk to you two.
02:22Come on.
02:23Let the record show.
02:24I did not ask you anything about the hockey standings.
02:27No.
02:28I don't want to be blamed for that, just because you thought I might.
02:32I don't want to be blamed for that.
02:33I had no intention of asking you about next year's hockey standings.
02:36Nor did I demand you get in your car and drive across town so you could do the show, but
02:39it's very considerate.
02:40Flattering.
02:41We definitely appreciate you.
02:42Yes.
02:43No question about that.
02:43We should pretty much let you talk about whatever you want, I guess.
02:45How is the gig?
02:47Like, I saw you tweeting.
02:48You mentioned Hallis Hall.
02:49You know, I saw you tweet a picture of, you know, like, I don't know if it was your first
02:54day there or whatever.
02:55Or, like, how are you digging the gig?
02:59Yeah, it's been great.
03:00I mean, I've been all over TV.
03:01We do news all day and then sports in between, and we have a sports show and all that.
03:06So that's all fun.
03:07But I'm just like, this is where I grew up, and this is where I'm, you know, happy to be
03:11back.
03:11I covered Bulls, Bears, Cubs, Sox, and Hawks for forever and then moved to Vegas, moved
03:16to Boston for betting.
03:18But now I'm, like, back talking about actual sports.
03:20So, you know, I'm going to have a lot less DMs this football season telling me, nice pick,
03:26bitch.
03:26You know, like, that's going to be very nice.
03:28Because, you know, when you do betting every day, you're going to lose a lot.
03:32So it's more of a focus on just the players and the teams.
03:36I'll still be doing betting for Fox Sports, and we'll talk betting, of course, during football
03:40season.
03:40But I'm at practice yesterday, the last day of Bears minicamp, and look, Caleb Williams
03:46threw a seed, 45 yards, a Luther Burden.
03:49And I know it's minicamp, but holy crap, guys, what a throw.
03:53And then it gets put on social media, and everybody's like, oh.
03:57I mean, you know, it's a throw on the third day of Bears minicamp, and now we're talking
04:01about Caleb Williams for MVP.
04:03Can we just have nice things?
04:05It's June.
04:06Can we pump the brakes on this stuff?
04:09Yeah, but no.
04:10Who wants to pump the brakes on that?
04:12I think you're going, you would know much better, I think you're going back to Chicago
04:17at a very exciting time, and the Bears are by far the number one reason for that.
04:22I mean, the Cubs are the Cubs.
04:24The White Sox are interesting and fun, and you and I are enjoying that.
04:26It's your team.
04:27But the Bears right now, Sam, your followers, apologies in advance, your followers are reacting
04:35to this pass play because they've never seen the Bears throw the ball before successfully
04:39in their lives.
04:40So you've got the quarterback.
04:42The quarterback is on the cover of Madden.
04:45And I think he's like, when you get there, we can talk about it, a kind of cool MVP pick
04:52idea, like these 12 to 1 or thereabouts.
04:55So, you know, you could do worse.
04:57You could have somebody like Allen that takes over the town.
05:01No doubt.
05:02And he's got all the tools.
05:04You know, when I think of arm talent, I think of Jay Cutler.
05:08And then, I mean, Kyle Orton kind of had an arm, but that's the conversation in Chicago,
05:15Chicago history.
05:16That is so sad.
05:16Caleb's got, I know, right?
05:18It's brutal.
05:19It's amazing.
05:19But look, in terms of upside, and we talked, when we built our eight-leg division parlays
05:24last Friday, I ended up putting Detroit in Detroit's favor to win the NFC North.
05:29I just think Detroit has the best roster, 53 man.
05:32But in terms of coach and quarterback, to me, it's not even close who has the most upside.
05:38And you're going to see a lot of bear support.
05:40I mean, last summer, when Caleb was learning the Ben Johnson offense, which is very extensive
05:45and very, like, high octane and very tough to master, Caleb was 40 to 1 to win the MVP,
05:53like 35, 40 to 1.
05:54And now he's, you know, 15 or lower.
05:58This is a real thing.
05:59He is, and when he takes the snap now, I mean, think about all the weapons he's got.
06:05You got Luther Burden.
06:07You got Roma Dunze.
06:08They love this rookie from LSU, Xavion Thomas, who's just an unbelievable all-SEC receiver.
06:15Colston Loveland, a top 15 pick last year out of Michigan, a tight end.
06:19Cole Komet, another tight end.
06:20They love Swift.
06:21They love Manunga.
06:22I mean, this offense should be elite.
06:25And Caleb yesterday was talking about how he thinks that they could lead the NFL in scoring
06:29offense.
06:30And I'm like, all right, well, it all sounds good.
06:32I don't know if they're going to stop anybody, but they're going to score for sure.
06:35Yeah.
06:35The coach really, really won me over.
06:38I was skeptical.
06:39Not quite.
06:40We need to be into July for training camp.
06:42But when training camp was starting and he would be, like, sort of abrasive toward Williams
06:48and really aggressive about correcting mistakes and stuff, I wondered, I think even I said it
06:53on the show a time or two, I don't know if I did it when you were on with us,
06:56like, is
06:56he one of these guys that's the wizard in the classroom and drawn up all the stuff but doesn't
07:01have the people skills to really be a good, I'm thinking about Josh McDaniels, maybe the
07:06first couple times around where he sort of flamed out as a head coach.
07:09Like, does he have that piece?
07:12And turns out he does.
07:14I mean, he's in that room with the shirt off and the victory speeches and all of it.
07:19Like, I'm totally in on this guy.
07:22Bad read by me last summer because I think he's, you've got a great one there, I think.
07:28I think so, too.
07:29And, you know, it's natural to look at, and not just a Chicago conversation, any team that
07:34plays over at skis with a very young quarterback and a very young head coach, not that Ben Johnson's
07:40young, but he was a first-year head coach last year with a second-year quarterback.
07:45Usually, whoever that team is, wise guys are going to say under the next year, you know?
07:52They just are.
07:52They're going to bet on regression, and they're going to say, well, this team has a tougher
07:56schedule, and everybody's seen the plays and all that.
07:59But I talked to one guy who bets a lot of NFL, and he goes, look, naturally, I lean
08:05under, but Ben Johnson scares the hell out of me.
08:08And I said, all right, I'll print that.
08:12Well, I'm not sure the Bills ever would have had a sniff of Burden last year, but he's
08:17easily somebody in this years-long thirst we've had here for a wide receiver in the draft
08:25that we can imagine being, like, an all-time great.
08:28Burden was one of those guys last year.
08:30That was your idea for them last year, I think.
08:32I loved him.
08:33Because, you know, the guys that have sort of the weird negatives, I feel like, just,
08:40let's not overthink this.
08:41Here's a stud.
08:43But what happened was the Bears picked him at 39 with the pick they got from Carolina from
08:50the Bryce Young trade.
08:51They still had Carolina's second, so they had that pick.
08:54Then they had the other second right after that, they traded that to the Bills, and the
08:58Bills picked T.J. Sanders with that pick.
09:01And then now D.J. Moore, who was in that first Bears-Panthers trade, is here, which means
09:07nothing to this.
09:08But, well, one thing it means is, like, there's just more bandwidth for Burden to be great,
09:14or even Odunze with the Bears.
09:16We can't just talk about the Bears every week with Sam going forward, right?
09:19We can't just do that.
09:20We can't have a Bears segment.
09:21I don't think that's sustainable.
09:22Well, let's do what the people want, and that's look at the College World Series schedule.
09:27Texas, is that tomorrow night, right?
09:30What are we looking at tomorrow?
09:31Yeah, double elimination.
09:33So it's down to eight now in Omaha.
09:36And Texas and Georgia play double a limb.
09:39So you get that first one tomorrow, and then you feel good about finishing it off in game
09:44two or game three.
09:46As we talked about before the whole bracket started, this is what you want.
09:50You want to beat Omaha.
09:51And I still believe Texas is the most complete team, but now you're facing a Georgia team
09:56that is as good.
09:58I mean, everybody here is good, obviously.
10:01I saw that Troy was on the list.
10:05I'm going through the teams of College World Series.
10:08Troy and West Virginia are playing right now, just like we thought.
10:12Bulldog Troy would be in the College World Series.
10:14How do they get to play each other?
10:15How do they seed this thing?
10:18Well, it's just like how the bracket, like, you know, do all these, like, regions.
10:22There's eight different regions, and then it's just bracket style.
10:24Like, they didn't, there's no, like, pull names out of a hat or anything.
10:27So, Troy, West Virginia, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, and Georgia.
10:32And on this show, three weeks ago, we talked about Texas at plus 950 or so.
10:38So, I'm feeling good.
10:39But more importantly, I don't know if you guys have been following the content on social media.
10:43There's a bar in Omaha called Rocco's, and they do this Jell-O Shot Challenge.
10:49And every school in the field of the eight has a color.
10:54And whoever wins the Jell-O Shot Challenge, charities and all that kind of stuff, there's a lot of money
10:59going around.
11:00West Virginia, in I believe two days, has taken 7,900 Jell-O Shots in Omaha, Nebraska.
11:06We talked about this last year.
11:08Yes.
11:08It was new to me last year.
11:10Right.
11:11The sound sounds familiar, yes.
11:12West Virginia.
11:137,900.
11:14Showing up.
11:15Showing up.
11:15Yeah, that tracks, I think.
11:19Yeah, I didn't want to say that.
11:19Well, then, for context, the next closest school is, let's see, Ole Miss has 2,000.
11:25West Virginia has 7,900.
11:27Right.
11:29Jeez.
11:29Tell me about Jell-O Shots.
11:31That's never been my thing.
11:32Like, how fast does it affect you?
11:36How many do you take before it's sort of, one, ten?
11:40What's the experience?
11:42Yeah, how much alcohol content is there in a Jell-O Shot Challenge?
11:44What if I take two?
11:45Am I, do you know, wrecked?
11:48Well, if I'm making them, it might take you two.
11:51It depends on who the pourer is, for sure.
11:54But I believe now they're professionally made.
11:56They claim there's a shot in every one, like a shot of alcohol.
12:01But I'm like, that doesn't make sense.
12:03Because if you actually hold a Jell-O Shot, it's built to hold, like, the cup that it's in is
12:09a shot.
12:10So there's no way it's all vodka.
12:11It can't be a full shot of vodka, can it?
12:13I would think no.
12:15So it's up to Rocco, in the end, how much alcohol is in there.
12:18Right, right.
12:19I did shots with my sister and father-in-law last night.
12:25I'm going to bring Jell-O Shots to the Christmas party at Bulldogs.
12:33That's what I'm going to do.
12:34That's how you're going to assure yourself an invite.
12:36So they asked me, like, what should you pick, right?
12:41And I'm like, well, Jameson?
12:44And they're very happy with that choice.
12:46It turned out that, yes.
12:47Choice, I'd say.
12:48Is that the definitive?
12:49Family Feud.
12:50Is that the number one answer for, like, a shot, drink?
12:54Jameson?
12:54Crown, maybe?
12:56Yeah, that's up there, too.
12:57I mean, I think different regions have different answers to that.
13:01And even different bars.
13:02But, like, Jameson is probably the liquor I've had the most shots of in my life.
13:07All right, well, maybe that's true of me, too.
13:10Sam, what a pleasure and an honor.
13:12Are you moved in?
13:13You're all set?
13:14You've got to get back over there?
13:15No, no, he's staying on somebody's couch with no Wi-Fi, it sounds like.
13:17Well, you've got to get back over there and do the rest of the work, it seems.
13:21My entire life is packed up in bins and boxes in Boston.
13:24I think I'm going back to Boston in three weeks to sell my house, but I'm not sure yet.
13:28All right, keep us posted.
13:29Thanks for your time.
13:31All right, bye-bye.
13:32Thank you, Sam.
13:32Much love.
13:33Sam Paniatovich, Fox Sports, Fox Chicago, Fox Moving, Fox Boston, Fox Jell-O Shots.
13:41Yeah, there you go.
13:42There it is.
13:44All right, we've got to come up with a new plan for Sam.
13:48We can't just have a bear segment.
13:49No.
13:50If he's out of the betting thing.
13:51Yeah, I don't know what we do, but, you know, I want to accommodate.
13:57He wants to keep going.
13:58I want to keep going, too.
14:00Just got to figure out what we should talk about.
14:04I mean, NFL is fine.
14:06You just can't always be the Bears.
