00:00i i get the sense you're struggling with your voice a little bit here so we'll try to make it
00:04easy for you uh what was the yeah and it it as it hasn't happened in a while but you
00:09know what
00:09that's what happens when you coach three baseball teams i guess and uh it's that time of year
00:13sal have you ever heard of a thing called signals in baseball maybe try giving signals
00:21that's funny but i do notice like you guys know i just like i mean i'm a talker anyway but
00:25i am
00:26the i am the coach who's always yelling to everybody on base what to do hey in the air hold
00:31up on the ground you gotta go i got that's like the normal like every single inning every single
00:36batter basically it'd be tough to not be able to do that if that's your style as a baseball coach
00:41to sort of not not have the ability to shout out these messages constantly um was there a highlight
00:47of the day out there yeah i thought there were a couple of them actually um cj garner johnson was
00:55really good today he actually had an interception later and i i apologize i don't know who threw
00:59the interception it could have been josh it might have been someone else but earlier before that
01:03he had two back-to-back plays where one he actually dropped an interception that he should have had
01:08from josh allen throwing it and then josh went right back after him on the next play it was a
01:13deep ball he
01:13seemed to be beat but he actually recovered and made a great play to knock it down and um you
01:20know
01:20these guys all say they're a lot he's loud he's a loud player well he was loud after that he
01:24was
01:24letting it be known you know but he uh that's where yeah that's where he operates i mean well you
01:29know
01:29cj garner johnson is on the field for sure and then keon coleman i posted some video he had a
01:34great catch
01:35in the early portion of just individual drills there's no defense but he really climbed the ladder
01:39got the ball came down two feet and bounds and then what i wrote was the play of the day
01:43was actually
01:44to me uh a tryout wide receiver named devin tompkins was deep and shane buchelle found him
01:51and this kid laid out for a ball like like he was like lateral to the ground basically and um
01:57he caught
01:58it was a great great catch i know that name how do i know it has he been around the
02:02league like as a
02:03practice squad guy or something devin tom yeah he's been on the panthers and the buccaneers and i think
02:09he was on the falcons practice squad last year okay coleman i had some reason from what happened
02:17yesterday maybe from reading you or hearing it somewhere else to want to bring coleman up today
02:22other than the fact that that's the law we always talk wide receivers no matter what um is there any
02:28new sort of perspective on him either from a trusted source like allen or brady or just are we in
02:35the
02:36same place where what we've been basically talking about for months coming off of the of last season
02:40with him is is there any sort of fresh perspective on coleman i would say no i would say it's
02:48all
02:48basically i'll go back to the buddy nicks line on wgr many years ago nobody wants to hear about the
02:55labor pains just show me the baby i think we're there with keon coleman you know nobody nobody cares
03:00about whatever we all have to say are the videos that i post that shows how well he's doing he's
03:05having a
03:05really good camp he had a great camp last year it doesn't matter now he's got to go do it
03:10as far as
03:11all the off the field stuff i mean there's nothing to report from a bad or good sense like it
03:17just
03:17seems like he's doing what he's supposed to be doing which is great but he did that last year too
03:20uh the proof is going to be when this starts to happen in the regular season when it matters on
03:23the
03:23field when it matters off the field um so there's nothing to report from there i will say i made
03:28a mental
03:29note today to think about how much i believe i see josh allen throwing to him like i i just
03:37kind of noticed it and he's made some plays he made another really good one today outside of this
03:41individual play i was talking about during 11 on 11 he had another really nice catch over the middle
03:45they're not hitting each other it's a little easier to catch over the middle like that but
03:48he's done that quite a bit like yesterday same thing i i just it's funny you ask that mike because
03:54while we don't have any like real like anybody talking about this specifically i made a mental
04:00note today to say you know it just feels to me like josh is throwing it to him a little
04:05bit more
04:05than normal hold on would you have had this thought to talk about him today was there yeah you know
04:10i saw
04:11you know what i i did see i did not go in to the story but our buddy matt perino
04:17from syracuse.com
04:20co-host of that shout podcast with ryan talbot had a day one of minicamp recap and one of the
04:26headlines there was something about coleman like coleman impressing early or something along those
04:32lines and so that was our i i i saw that you know what my reaction to that was oh
04:39here we go
04:40right this was that's what i mean that's why you're that's why you're you got the baby in the
04:44delivery line it's just yeah because last summer i bought it i was like oh 65 catches six touchdowns
04:52it's coming uh he looks great here in the summer and you know a few weeks later he was you
04:57know
04:57benched so it's like i'm i'm i'm with you on the you know they show me the baby uh sort
05:03of thing
05:04because that was you know this is not a commentary about you know matt's reporting or anything no no
05:09that's right it's like an eye roll like okay he looks great now that's wonderful right because we
05:14we have to do that right right yeah i i get it yeah and and sorry about that but yeah
05:19we have to
05:20we have to do that we have to report we see right and he's looking good and it's our job
05:24to tell you
05:24that but listen you can go to the comments underneath like the video that i posted and it's one after
05:31the
05:31other of oh well here we go once again another you know great camp but who cares like he's gonna
05:38be a
05:39bust he's not gonna do it in the regular season like i mean it's one after the other and honestly
05:44like i get it i get why people do that it's not my it's not my natural reaction to do
05:49something
05:49like that or think something like that but i absolutely understand a bills fan just going
05:54like i don't really care about this i care about what he's doing in the regular season has he talked
05:58yet coleman he talked yesterday if i remember no it was maybe the week before that maybe the week
06:04before that he did it during otas yeah yeah during otas because you know why mike he was asked
06:09specifically about what he thought about the press conference when his name came up from terry
06:14begula and he didn't think he said you know he didn't really didn't bother me didn't think much
06:19about it it's he just knows he has to do a job and he did say that joe brady did
06:24call him that night
06:24that he became the head coach to talk to him and you know how joe has said the best thing
06:28happened to
06:29keon coleman i told him was for me being his head coach like he basically confirmed that that was the
06:33conversation and you know he he knows he also said like so i have to remember the exact quote but
06:39it
06:39was something to the effect of like i know i need to put up or shut up like that i
06:43need to do this
06:44this year like this is what i gotta do i'm taking a bit of a leap here i know nothing
06:49other we've had
06:51this speculation this running conversation about like what what would joe brady have wanted to do
06:58if mcdermott hadn't been here you know whether that's anything um starting with maybe offensive
07:05scheme or whatever i'm not sure there's and this is secondhand it's not sure i'm not sure it has to
07:11be something that meaningful but i want to say there's nothing he's said yet that's more telling
07:17in that direction than that line about coleman like what does it mean for brady to say that to
07:23coleman it doesn't mean like the he's the offensive coordinator already it's not like he's going to
07:28necessarily get the ball more because you know brady was also had command over that as as the best
07:35extent that a coach can but it's it implies it to me it implies that listen you're going to be
07:42handled differently now right i'm the boss now and it might not be as tough on you i might not
07:48be as
07:48tough on you as mcdermott again i'm making some yeah leaps but yeah or or let me just add in
07:54here sal
07:55maybe it's a little bit of i'm going to make this so much fun for you that you're going to
07:59be on time
07:59okay sure you're going to want to come to work right yeah yeah you're going to want to yeah
08:05all the same thing whatever right yeah it is right it could be that i mean and you know i
08:12i mean
08:13organizationally i don't know exactly what the things are inside the building when he gets suspended
08:18when he gets you know benched but that's more sean mcdermott i'm sure than it is joe brady
08:23although i'm not saying joe brady wouldn't be on board with that yep i don't know right so
08:27to that extent right it's you know sean mcdermott makes the decision early in the week
08:31you know that's going to happen and i don't know how much something like that impacts you know
08:36keon coleman down the road and each week and from a week to week basis and again no one's gonna
08:40i'd be it'd be terrible if you guys excuse him for being late or anything like that you don't want
08:44to do that um but yeah there there seems to be an implication that something will be different
08:49on that front the way that he's handled i like the way you put that i don't know what that
08:52is
08:53i also just think this is what people do to try and instill confidence in people right no doubt
08:57we all know that you say something like that you give him a phone call you let him know we
09:01believe
09:02in you we have confidence in you the best thing happened to you is me you get the guy energized
09:06to
09:06want to come to work for you every day i think that's probably part of it i want to double
09:10check
09:11this and i was just trying to on my phone unsuccessfully but i think in fantasy i don't
09:15think coleman gets picked like 18 rounds times 12 200 players i don't think he gets picked
09:22i think i think everybody's off him which if his head is on right could be just what you need
09:28there could be some real value there yeah nothing no pressure now i mean i it hasn't worked out here
09:33yet and everybody seems kind of done i will double check that and yeah my guys at adp chasing would
09:38be embarrassed for me that i don't know this already but i don't think he gets picked just want to
09:42mention
09:42quickly before we get something i'm on i want to ask you about josh palmer here but well since i
09:47think
09:47we've been talking i'm i apologize if this is old news but it came across my face while we've been
09:52talking the eagles have signed aj epinesa so like at least one of the former defenders uh on the bills
09:58that had yet to find a team here into june it appears has found a team i mean he did
10:03sign
10:03originally i forget where cleveland cleveland and then there was a physical problem or something and
10:09so that that didn't take but it looks like the eagles are signing epinesa i wanted to ask you about
10:13palmer speaking of receivers and just how much is sort of well what's what's writing on him this
10:20year and how invested in him do you think the bills are i feel like this came up late with
10:25you
10:25yesterday late in our visit anyway yesterday uh and you sort of matter of fact we said like there's
10:31savings to be had there and if he can't stay on the field i just wonder like how big feels
10:36like
10:36maybe a big spring and summer for josh palmer yeah i think so too and you know we talk with
10:41him today
10:41actually it's funny you bring that up we actually talked with josh palmer today a little bit after
10:45practice and you know just talk to him about his body last year and you know getting injured and
10:50what that meant for him and somebody asked him do you view this year as a reset and he said
10:55no i don't
10:55view it as a reset i still think that you know he said i i but i learned a lot
11:00and one of the things
11:01that you know you learn when you go through injuries is not necessarily i asked him if he thought he
11:06pushed himself a little too much after the um atlanta injuries because then he tried to come back he
11:10said i wouldn't say push but you do learn that you have to kind of take it the right way
11:14right you
11:14have to rehab the right way to make sure that you're available and it probably did cost him a
11:18little more time at the end of the year because he wanted to be on the field everything about him
11:21today's you know basically said to me that he really wants to be on the field he wants to help
11:24his team and maybe that was part of the issue with you know having some injuries later in the year
11:29um he did i think basically he said his words were i'm washing away year one still left a bad
11:37taste in
11:38my mouth especially not being able to play with the guys down the stretch and i you know i think
11:43the team brandon bean last year that was his free agent signing right that was the the receiver that
11:52he brought in to help out the offense it was it was josh palmer i know that they signed elijah
11:57moore
11:57right for the draft but that was his guy i think he did that because he really believed josh palmer
12:02would really help this offense with his skill set like man-to-man can beat you know off the line
12:07really good route runner i have to believe that he still believes that that it's not the injuries
12:12impacted him i i can't think that brandon bean would go you know what that was just a it's not
12:18going to work out to me i would think that if you had faith in one year ago but the
12:21only thing that
12:22really happened were injuries why would you not have faith the next year now can he stay healthy
12:26that is becomes the question want to play our would you take game real quick we won't go through the
12:32whole schedule your voice is struggling a little bit but would you take 12 and 5 this year for the
12:37bills and would you have absolutely have to say yes oh my god okay oh my god yeah would you
12:43take 11 i
12:43mean i think 11 is good i think you go to 11 and 6 you're in the playoffs and you
12:50have a legit shot
12:51to win the division i think it's got to be i'm taking 11 i'm probably not taking 10 i'm playing
12:55it out
12:5611 probably 12 definitely very good yeah last year the steelers made the playoffs um with a bad
13:05record because they won the division uh you know a lesser record but the best while the i'm sorry
13:10the worst wild card was 11 wins i mean you had to get to 11 i mean you that's taking
13:15a chance but to
13:16me you can win the division with 11 but you should be able to make the playoffs with 11 very
13:21good rest up
13:22thanks for your time sal all right guys
