00:23And he is 30 years of age for Boston.
00:27And let's go up for the introductions to Michael Buffer.

01:10from Murrow, Maryland.
01:12Undefeated as a professional record of 4-0,
01:16all four victory by knockout.
01:17He's a gold medal winner, and it is the Nittlesburg P.A.M. Boxing, Andrew Maynard.
01:26Well, there's Andrew Maynard, and I guess if anybody's got a chance
01:30to capture the charisma title that ultimately will be surrendered
01:33by Sugar Ray Leonard, it might be this guy,
01:35because while he certainly not yet has boxing skills approaching Sugar Ray's,
01:40I think he's close when it comes to a smile.
01:43As you will see, if you haven't met Andrew Maynard yet,
01:46wait till the end of this fight, assuming he comes out on top,
01:49you'll see one of the better-looking smiles,
01:51and he's just a terrific, charming guy.
01:56Boxing in the Army, joining the Army, as he admitted he needed discipline.
02:00He admits that he was a bad kid, said,
02:02I went in there to get my act together, and it worked.
02:04And he is just a fine young man in his fifth professional bout
02:08from Laurel, Maryland, 25 years of age,
02:10and indeed is being managed by the Sugar Ray Leonard group.
02:13Jose Pepe Correa is his trainer, who is also training Sugar Ray now.
02:18And Steve Schwan from actually Cranky, Texas.
02:21He has a ranch in Cranky, Texas.
02:23You've got to love that.
02:24He's a ranch foreman, he's a bulldogger, and a horseshoer,
02:27and a sometime boxer.
02:29I have to say something.
02:31I never see anybody with a style like this.
02:33It's the Cowboy Steve.
02:35Cowboy Steve, he's a gamer.
02:37It's like he's riding a horse.
02:38You know why you haven't seen that style, Marvin?
02:40You don't hang out in those Western saloons.
02:42You see them every Saturday night in the Western saloons.
02:45He's managed in trade by Richard Lord,
02:48and the best story they tell about him is
02:49he wound up as a substitute against a rising light heavyweight in New Orleans
02:53who they were planning on getting into the top ten.
02:56Steve Schwan beat him, so he can be dangerous.
03:01He don't look like he knows what he's doing here, man.
03:05They say he was 64 and 10 as an amateur,
03:09now 11, 5, and 1 as a professional.
03:12But he's the first to admit.
03:14He's a cowboy first and a boxer second.
03:17Well, he has a cute style, Marvin.
03:19I know.
03:19He moves a lot to the right.
03:21It's very tough to nail a guy when he's moving to the right,
03:23moving outside your bunches.
03:24Of course, he can't hit you, but you can't hit him either.
03:27That's what I mean.
03:28Look at his head, though.
03:29Way up high.
03:31That's the fifth professional fight for Andrew Maynard in blue,
03:34the Olympic light heavyweight champion,
03:37former national AAU champion.
03:39You can see that Amanda just really wants to get this guy out of there
03:42because you see a guy like that with a bad style.
03:45A guy like this can make you look bad out there.
03:47You want to finish him off real quick.
03:49Well, the car's running a little longer than they expected, too,
03:52so Andrew's out there trying to help things along here in Las Vegas.
03:57And he landed a good right hand.
04:03See that little slide over to the right by the Cowboy?
04:06That's what takes the punching foul away from Amanda.
04:09Oh, yeah, but he's in trouble now.
04:11Knight and the left and the right and the left go down.
04:15Steve Schwan.
04:17He told him to go to the right.
04:21Four-punch combination with a left on the end of it
04:24sending Schwan to the canvas.
04:29Andrew Maynard, another left hand.
04:31Rocks one and the referee steps in.
04:34Toby Gibson and stops this one in the first round.
04:38Andrew Maynard.
04:40The Olympic gold medal is too much for the game.
04:43Rancher from Cranky, Texas.
04:44But have a reason to be cranky now
04:46because he took a little punishment from Andrew.
04:48That reminds me of you in the morning, Cranky.
04:53Yes, but fortunately not for the same reason.
04:56I think he wanted a horse there to get added.
05:00So Andrew Maynard finds himself in a rather easy first-round stoppage of Steve Schwan at his fifth professional bout.
05:10Maynard unloading those powerful punches.
05:13Two solid left hooks.
05:14Then let's not take that away from Andrew Maynard.
05:16Maynard right on a button.
05:18There's one.
05:19There's another one.
05:21He can punch.
05:22She's got five KOs and there's five professional starts.
05:26They could have stopped the fight at the first knockdown, though.
05:29Yeah, he was just completely outclassed, you know.
05:31I think there's every reason to believe that Andrew Maynard is on his way to superstardom in the light heavyweight
05:37division,
05:37even though he's had only five pro fights and still has a lot to learn.
05:41He admits that.
05:42This man reminds me a lot of Matt Franklin from Philadelphia.
05:47Right.
05:47Went on to become Matthew Saad Muhammad and one of the great light heavyweight champions ever.
05:51We'll see the end of it here as referee Toby Gibson doing a good job seeing a Schwan really out
05:57of it here
05:58and stepping in to prevent any damage.
06:05So let's go up to ring and after Michael Buffer.
06:08Ladies and gentlemen, referee Toby Gibson stops about at two minutes, 35 seconds in the very first round.
06:15The winner by TKO.
06:16He's now five and O with five knockouts in the win column.
06:21Boxing Andrew Maynard.
06:27Let's have a round of applause for Cowboy Steve Chwan.
06:34There is Andrew Maynard with a...
