00:16Showtime asks, where is the next Joe Frazier?
00:18The next Larry Holmes?
00:21The next Roberto Duran?
00:23Where is the next young star on his way to the main event?
00:27Showtime is bringing back boxing the way it used to be. The way real fight fans remember it.
00:32It's Showbox the New Generation. With live bouts from around the world every other weekend.
00:39Showbox the New Generation. Premiering next, only on Showtime.
00:45Valley's Atlantic City, here in beautiful Atlantic City, New Jersey, for an evening of professional boxing.
00:53Ladies and gentlemen, this is Showbox, the New Generation.
01:03And no guy gonna give you nothing for nothing. You gotta work for what you care.
01:08You gotta get them shots off. Left hook, right hand, both hands up, both hands up. Let's go.
01:14Go out there, focus on that job, and be done.
01:18This is what it takes. Give me a chance. This is what it takes. Right here, baby.
01:22Opportunity only and I. Let's go.
01:38Today, from the Grand Ballroom at Valley's in Atlantic City,
01:42it's the debut of Showbox, the New Generation.
01:47Our featured event is a battle of unbeaten lightweights
01:50when Martin O'Malley clashes with Leonard the Lion Doreen.
01:57Our debut bout on Showbox is a welterweight attraction
02:01between a couple of former Golden Glove champions,
02:05Vicious Victor Rosato and Johnny Molnar.
02:10Hello, everybody. I'm Nick Charles,
02:11and welcome to what we're sure will become a viewing habit,
02:15a boxing show with you, the viewer, in mind.
02:18What's most important to us are the boxers you'll see in the ring
02:22and the fighting spirit they bring with them.
02:24Showbox, the New Generation, is not a place for a fighter to pad his record.
02:29Because this is our debut show, we want to explain our philosophy, which is simple.
02:34We're committed to covering the globe, not only in the United States,
02:37going around the world to find the youngest, freshest fighters,
02:41people who are hungry, guys who want to fight,
02:44who are willing to put it on the line, willing to take a risk for the exposure.
02:48Showbox, the New Generation.
02:50No smoke, no mirrors, just action.
02:53It's an idea and a concept we think makes perfect sense.
02:57It's a pleasure to be here ringside to call the action
02:59and to be joined now by colleague and friend and expert analyst Steve Farhood.
03:04Steve, in this main event, enticing on paper.
03:07Martin O'Malley, Leonard Doran.
03:10Neither has ever been beaten, but that's where the similarity ends.
03:13Tell us about O'Malley first.
03:14Nick, O'Malley, everything about this guy says punch, go for the knockout, be aggressive.
03:19I'm just not sure that that's the best approach against a fighter like Doran
03:24who's going to be in his face the whole fight.
03:26Discretion might be a good idea for Martin O'Malley.
03:29Limit the exchanges. Don't make it a slugfest.
03:31That goes against everything he stands for.
03:33If Martin O'Malley gets too macho, if he lets the Irish get the better of him,
03:38it will be great for us because we're calling the fight and watching it.
03:41It might not be so great for him because he has to win the fight.
03:43Well, his opponent again, Leonard Doran.
03:45What makes him, Steve, so fan-friendly, so appealing?
03:49God made Leonard Doran 5'4", very short for lightweight.
03:52He doesn't have a choice on how he can fight.
03:55He has to be aggressive. He has to be in your face.
03:57As a result, every fight he has, high guard, throwing a lot of punches,
04:01hooking to the body, he's all action.
04:03The key for Doran, watch out for him around 6 through 10, the second half of the fight,
04:07because that's when his conditioning and superb stamina could take an effect.
04:12And remember, he's been 10 rounds or more four times.
04:15O'Malley has, and that's a big advantage for Doran.
04:17Well, Steve, the main event coming up very soon.
04:19It's Leo Doran, Martin O'Malley, two guys who fight with aggression,
04:24which is why they're our main event fighters.
04:26We hope you're enjoying this free unlimited Showtime preview weekend,
04:30and we want to remind you that you can dial in right now
04:33and be part of the Showtime excitement in the months ahead in the ring
04:36by simply calling 1-888-SHOWTIME and subscribing.
04:42We also want to remind those of you with Internet access that you can score the fights online.
04:46Just log on to show.com, and we'll tally votes,
04:51display the results on the web page, and show you how you scored it at home.
04:55As a special bonus, the first 200 viewers who log on
04:58will receive a limited edition Showbox poster.
05:02But now it's time to see some boxing from valleys in Atlantic City.
05:06Our debut bout on Showbox the New Generation features two welterweight hopefuls,
05:11Johnny Molnar, 18-1-1, 10 KOs, and Victor Rosado.
05:16They've come to the Jersey Shore to see who's boss.
05:19Victor Rosado was born in the Dominican Republic, lives in the Bronx,
05:2317-2-1 since turning pro nearly four years ago as you look at him there.
05:27Most recently, Rosado won a four-round decision last month
05:31and has been 10 rounds just once.
05:33Steve, take us behind the numbers with Victor Rosado.
05:36Victor Rosado, as you see, outstanding record, 17-2-1.
05:39Cuts have been a problem for this guy.
05:42He's been cut in three of his last four fights.
05:43Let's hope that is not a factor in this fight.
05:46Short fights, well, he's asked to go 10 rounds today.
05:49He's done it only once.
05:51We'll see if that's a factor.
05:52And finally, weight loss.
05:54This guy only six weeks ago took a fight at 177 pounds,
05:5830 pounds over his weight.
06:00He had to reduce from 177 for tonight.
06:02That's asking a lot.
06:03And the way he made it easily, we should note.
06:05Rosado's opponent, John Molnar, is a three-time Golden Gloves champion
06:08who suffered his only defeat last August.
06:11Since then, Molnar's bounced back to win his last two,
06:14scoring a third-round TKO over Kevin Collins three months ago
06:16in the same building.
06:17But the big change for Johnny Molnar, a new trainer
06:21and a familiar face to boxing fans.
06:23Former welterweight champion Mark Breeland now trains him.
06:27Steve, what's behind Johnny Molnar's numbers?
06:29Well, Johnny Molnar only has that one loss.
06:32His KOs have come early.
06:33He's a walk-in slugger in the Arturo Gatti mold.
06:35Gatti happens to be a stablemate of his.
06:37So look for early pressure.
06:39He's been six rounds plus only once.
06:42He went nine rounds with Nicky Acevedo.
06:44Got to go ten today.
06:45He's never done it before.
06:46So that's a question mark.
06:48And his one loss, world-class loss, was to Nicky Acevedo,
06:51who's a top-ten welterweight.
06:52Shane Mosley, who spars with Acevedo,
06:54says that Acevedo is the second-best welterweight in the world.
06:57So for Molnar, no disgrace to lose to Nicky Acevedo.
07:00Just about ready to go.
07:01The table's been set.
07:02We're ready for our first fight card.
07:03On our inaugural show box card, Johnny Molnar,
07:06who's won 18 to 20 career fights and knocked out half his opponents,
07:09against vicious Victor Rosado,
07:11whose only experience at ten was a narrow loss last November.
07:15He, then, is a man looking for redemption.
07:17Now let's go up to the middle of the ring,
07:19where Amy Hayes has the introductions.
07:23Ladies and gentlemen,
07:25ladies and gentlemen,
07:27welcome to Valley's Atlantic City here in Atlantic City, New Jersey,
07:31for an afternoon of professional boxing
07:33brought to you by main events and showtime.
07:37And now, presenting our governing body,
07:41this bout is under the auspices of the New Jersey Athletic Control Board.
07:45The commissioner is Larry Hazard,
07:47and your judges will be George Colon,
07:50Joe Pasquale,
07:51Al DeVito,
07:52and your referee and man in charge,
07:54Mr. Tony Orlando.
08:02Introducing to you first,
08:04biting out of the blue corner,
08:06wearing the white and the red trunks,
08:08weighing in at 148 pounds,
08:10with a record of 17 wins,
08:13two losses,
08:14one draw with 11 wins coming by way of knockout.
08:18He comes to us originally from the Dominican Republic,
08:21now representing the Bronx in New York.
08:25Please welcome,
08:26vicious,
08:27Victor Rosado.
08:36His opponent,
08:38fighting out of the red corner,
08:40entering the ring,
08:41wearing the white and blue trunks,
08:43he weighed in at 148 pounds,
08:47and has a record of 18 wins,
08:50one loss,
08:51one draw,
08:51and 10 wins coming by way of knockout.
08:54Please welcome,
08:56from Middletown, New Jersey,
08:58Johnny Monar.
09:15Okay, gentlemen,
09:16I gave you instructions in the corner,
09:18I want you to touch gloves,
09:20go back to your corner,
09:20stay there until I tell you to come out.
09:22All right,
09:22touch gloves.
09:26Okay, Steve,
09:27tail of the tape,
09:28as we look at Johnny Molnar,
09:30and vicious Victor Rosado,
09:34our inaugural fight on Showbox,
09:36and here we see the numbers.
09:38Really,
09:39the significant number there is Rosado,
09:41148.
09:42Remember,
09:42as I said before,
09:43only six weeks ago,
09:44he was 177.
09:46He's the bigger guy,
09:48longer arms,
09:49but that weight loss,
09:50that's the question.
09:51He made 48 pretty easily.
09:52Okay,
09:52and the rules from the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board,
09:55rules and regulations,
09:5610-point must system,
09:57three judges score the fight,
09:59there'll be no standing eight count,
10:00no three knockdown rule,
10:02only the referee,
10:03Tony Orlando,
10:04can stop the fight,
10:05and a fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round.
10:09We're ready to go here in Atlantic City.
10:18Johnny Molnar's in the white trunks
10:20and the blue stripe on the right of your screen,
10:22now dancing to his left
10:23and moving Victor Rosado from the Bronx, New York,
10:26is in white and red.
10:34Donato trying to move in behind the jab
10:36and he'll go for the left to the head
10:37and then try a right to the body.
10:41And Nick,
10:41not unlike our main event fighters,
10:43both of these guys are naturally aggressive,
10:45so it's really going to be a question
10:46of who pushes the other guy back.
10:49Always a difficult thing, Steve,
10:50to fight backing up
10:51as we see Molnar here trying again
10:54with that left hook.
10:59Flicking the left hook once again
11:00and the overhand right scores on Rosado
11:02who's backing up now here against the corner.
11:06Referee breaks.
11:08We're in the first minute of this fight.
11:10The Welderweights, Johnny Molnar,
11:12white and blue.
11:13Victor Rosado scores with a right there
11:15as they do some infighting here.
11:17Rosado crapped on the ropes now, Steve.
11:20Molnar always aggressive,
11:22always pushing his opponent back.
11:24The key for him,
11:24he's only been two weeks
11:26with his new trainer, Mark Freeland.
11:27You know, Nick,
11:28that can be counterproductive
11:29because maybe he doesn't remember everything.
11:31Maybe he's not sure how to incorporate
11:33the new stuff into his game.
11:35Only two weeks with a new trainer.
11:37It can hurt more than it can help.
11:38Well, Freeland told us
11:39just an hour or so ago
11:41he had three words of advice
11:42for Johnny Molnar.
11:44Relax, stay busy,
11:45and move your head.
11:47Defense has always been
11:48a question mark with him.
11:50Yeah, exactly.
11:51Freeland told us
11:52that Molnar used to square up too much,
11:54something Mike Tyson
11:55has a problem with, too.
11:56When you square up,
11:57you're giving your opponent
11:58a bigger target,
11:58and you don't have leverage
12:00on your punch.
12:00And Rosado could tend
12:02to just try the straight
12:03overhand right leads.
12:04So not much jabbing going around.
12:06First round as they wing away here
12:08with about a minute,
12:09just about a minute left to go
12:11on the first heat.
12:16And Molnar takes a right to the chin.
12:19Tries to get in close.
12:20He repressed the issue
12:21and cut the ring in half,
12:23he said,
12:23and fight at his face.
12:24Watch your head.
12:25Let's go.
12:26And so far,
12:27it's an honest one, Steve.
12:28Not much of a feeling out process here.
12:31Didn't think they would be, Nick.
12:33These guys are aggressive by nature,
12:35and Molnar,
12:36in the Arturo Gatti mold
12:38of never take a backward step.
12:39If his defense improves,
12:41he'll be able to beat Rosado.
12:42If his defense does improve,
12:43Rosado's left hook,
12:44good out through Molnar's left hook.
12:46That's the punch I'd look for
12:47from both guys.
12:48And Rosado scores
12:49with a right cross counter.
12:51Work out.
12:51Come on.
12:51Let him go.
12:52Let him go.
12:52Again,
12:53he dropped 30 pounds,
12:54as you said,
12:55Rosado.
12:55Is he showing any effects of it here?
12:57Does he look just like
12:58a natural welterweight should?
13:00He looks pretty good.
13:01I'd like to see him
13:02establish some distance.
13:03He's the longer,
13:03he's got the longer reach,
13:04and he's the taller fighter,
13:05and his aggressiveness
13:07doesn't always allow him
13:08to establish distance.
13:11Molnar trying to get more serious
13:13with the jab,
13:14but we haven't seen much of it here
13:15as we come to the close
13:16of round one.
13:27Don't think about it.
13:28Don't think about it.
13:29Push down on my thumb.
13:35I can move it.
13:36Don't move it.
13:38Don't move it.
13:39Don't move it.
13:46Come behind the jab.
13:49Right hand to the body.
13:50Left hand to the body.
13:51Stay close to him.
13:53Take the body.
13:53You can't take it to the body.
13:55You hurt him to the body.
13:56Don't move it.
13:57Don't move it.
13:57Don't move it.
13:58Don't move it.
13:59Don't.
13:59Don't think about it.
14:00All right?
14:02You got it?
14:03Got it.
14:03Do what you got to do.
14:05All right?
14:06Use the jab.
14:07Work the body.
14:08All right?
14:08I need some water.
14:13Steve, some trouble
14:14in the corner of Johnny Molnar.
14:16Big trouble, Nick.
14:17Johnny Molnar.
14:18You can see him
14:18adjusting his gloves.
14:19I think it's his right thumb.
14:21The minute he got back
14:21to the corner,
14:22he was complaining,
14:23I can't move my thumb.
14:24And Mark Breeland,
14:25his trainer,
14:26saying you've got to use the jab.
14:27He must be more seriously
14:29committed to the jab
14:30because without it,
14:31it doesn't set up
14:32any of those power shots
14:33as Victor Rosado
14:35starts to try to walk him down.
14:36Well, keeping his distance.
14:38If Johnny Molnar
14:39has something wrong
14:40with his right thumb,
14:41the jab is all he's going to have.
14:42He better use it.
14:45Well, in his loss to Acevedo,
14:47he was a one-handed fighter,
14:48he said.
14:48He tore a rotator cuff
14:50going down on the second round
14:51of that fight,
14:52and he takes a bomb flush
14:54to the face there
14:55as Rosado ties him up
14:58and Molnar spins out of trouble.
15:00Let's look for how many
15:01right hands Molnar throws.
15:03Molnar definitely trying
15:04to cut the ring off,
15:05go to the body,
15:06and Rosado complaining
15:06of a low blow.
15:08Put a hand on the head.
15:10Let's go.
15:12We see a smudge of blood
15:13below Rosado,
15:15and Rosado was off balance there
15:17as here comes Molnar
15:19trying to close the gap,
15:21digs a double hook
15:22a double hook to the body.
15:27Got to keep his head moving
15:29with the instructions,
15:30and there he cumbers.
15:31Rosado downstairs.
15:33Rosado tries an uppercut
15:34off the ropes.
15:36Well, Molnar is using
15:38the right hand.
15:39He's punching to the body,
15:40and it's going to hurt less
15:41if you land to the body
15:42with a bad hand
15:43than if you land to the head.
15:45No, trying to clear the bases
15:46there with that uppercut,
15:47but scoring definitely
15:49to the ribs of,
15:50of Victor Rosado.
15:52We're halfway through
15:53round two.
15:57Rosado trying to establish
15:58his zone.
15:59His left hand is low there
16:01as Molnar just plows in, Steve.
16:07Both fighters with their lefts
16:09very low,
16:11and nobody can tend
16:12to jab at this point.
16:13Rosado with a lead right.
16:15Watch your head, Jimmy.
16:17Come on, break him.
16:18Let's go, let's go.
16:20Molnar doing a good job
16:21getting in on the inside.
16:22That's definitely
16:23to his advantage.
16:24He's an unlucky fighter
16:25when he fought
16:26Nicky Acevedo.
16:27Not only did he dislocate
16:29his, tear his rotator cuff,
16:31his right eye swelled up.
16:32He couldn't see,
16:33and he still stayed in there
16:34until the ninth round.
16:35It was a tremendously
16:36steady effort.
16:38Molnar stocking again.
16:41Connects there to the head
16:44as they trade
16:45in the center of the ring.
16:47Rosado trying to establish distance
16:48or take a breather,
16:49but he's not pressing
16:50the attack at all
16:51as Molnar again
16:52tries to make this
16:53a close fight
16:55and get in place.
17:01Orlando warns them again
17:03to keep the punches up.
17:07Trying to fight off the ropes,
17:09and there's that uppercut
17:10landing by Molnar.
17:12Molnar just landed
17:12right to the head of Rosado
17:14if indeed his thumb is hurt.
17:15That punch would have
17:16made him grimace with pain,
17:17so maybe he's feeling
17:18okay with that right hand.
17:21And a little stare down here
17:23as Tony Orlando
17:24has to separate them.
17:26Victor Rosado
17:28looks like he's breathing
17:29pretty happy
17:30as we go to his corner.
17:31We've got to come to the body.
17:32The body's open.
17:32You see, you're missing
17:33right now at the head.
17:34Let's bring the hook
17:35to the body
17:36the way we worked on.
17:37You follow me?
17:37I don't want you to have a rope.
17:38Step around
17:39and go to work, okay?
17:41Don't touch those ropes no more.
17:42Step around
17:43before he comes there.
17:44You'll find him
17:44in the middle of the ring,
17:45the tire.
17:45Remember the tire?
17:46Okay, that's what I want.
17:48So stepping around,
17:49but I want the hook
17:49to the body
17:50like you did over
17:50in the corner.
17:51It got in.
17:52And then he's all yours.
17:54Okay, he's watching.
17:55Okay?
17:55You got me?
17:56I want that hook
17:57to the body.
17:59Okay, Junior?
18:00That hook to the body.
18:02Action from round two.
18:03That was a butt right there.
18:05And you see Rosado react.
18:07Johnny Molnar's aggressive.
18:08When he comes in
18:08with his head down like that,
18:10it is inevitable
18:10that there will be butts.
18:12And there's the uppercut
18:13scoring by Molnar there
18:15as he gets inside,
18:15which is just where
18:17he wants to be.
18:17That's his wheelhouse.
18:18As we go to round three.
18:20And, you know,
18:21Nick Rosado should be
18:21very sensitive about butts.
18:23He's been cut
18:23in three of his last four fights.
18:25He doesn't want it
18:25to happen again.
18:26A.D. Dragone,
18:27his trainer,
18:28urging Rosado
18:30to go to the body.
18:31Hook to the body.
18:32It's there all night,
18:33he's saying.
18:34Let's see if it happens.
18:39Molnar trying to punch
18:40through Rosado's jab there
18:41as he picks up the pace.
18:44Now his hands are high.
18:46Rosado winging shots
18:47and scores there
18:48to the ribs.
18:50Orlando calls out
18:52a low blow.
18:53And Rosado's
18:54with his best action
18:55so far.
18:56A nice flurry
18:57going downstairs
18:58and off and scoring.
19:00Watch your head.
19:02Let's go.
19:03Both of you.
19:05The way Molnar's
19:07coming in there,
19:08there's a very good chance
19:09someone's going to get
19:09butted or cut in this fight.
19:11He just doesn't seem
19:12to respect Victor Rosado's
19:14power on that stage.
19:16Now he's fighting
19:17in the clinches there
19:18and scoring
19:19with the short little rights
19:21and there's the uppercut again
19:22as they trade.
19:24Well, you see,
19:24this is Johnny Molnar's
19:26territory inside.
19:27If you watch Rosado punch,
19:28he's a long-armed guy
19:30and his punches take a while.
19:31He kind of
19:32leans back
19:33with his arms to punch
19:34and Molnar's
19:35getting there first.
19:37Well, we're only
19:38in round three,
19:39scheduled for ten.
19:41And the pace
19:42has been torrid enough,
19:43Steve,
19:44to suggest
19:44if this goes late,
19:46who's ever in the best
19:47condition
19:47could win it.
19:49Exactly.
19:50And if Rosado
19:50spent training camp
19:51taking weight off
19:52instead of getting in shape,
19:53that's to Molnar's
19:54advantage
19:54and it will show
19:55over the second half.
19:57Here we see Rosado
19:58who's
19:59throwing shots
20:00to the body again
20:01with his head
20:02down here
20:02trying to dig in
20:03as they stand away
20:04and blast
20:05and there's a double
20:06uppercut
20:06from Molnar
20:07as he's content
20:08to go to war
20:08this way.
20:09Scoring with another
20:10uppercut
20:11and then a left hook
20:12to the head
20:12as Rosado backs off.
20:14There's another left.
20:15A double hook
20:16there scoring
20:16as Rosado,
20:17Steve,
20:18to me,
20:18looks like
20:18he's sucking
20:19some wind here.
20:21Molnar's round
20:22big time
20:22so far.
20:23If there's something
20:24wrong with his thumb,
20:25he is just so gutty
20:26and we probably
20:27won't find out
20:28until after the fight
20:28exactly what's wrong.
20:30Big right hand
20:30by Molnar.
20:31This is his best round
20:32so far.
20:36There's Molnar now
20:37once again
20:38digging in
20:39and just content
20:40to wrap the waves.
20:41He goes upstairs
20:42with a hook
20:42and then the right cross.
20:44Another cross
20:44as Rosado tries
20:45to batter back
20:46but he's getting
20:47much worse
20:48of it.
20:4830 seconds to go
20:49in round three
20:50all Johnny Molnar
20:52here.
20:56As he continues
20:58to fire shots.
21:00Starting to look
21:00a little bit
21:01like an Arturo
21:02daddy fight
21:02and that is not
21:03a bad thing.
21:04And now Southpaw
21:05stands tried
21:06by Rosado
21:07here
21:07and he eats
21:08a right hand lead.
21:11Rosado's just
21:12letting Molnar
21:12walk in.
21:13There's no jab
21:13to discourage him.
21:15And why he went
21:16Southpaw
21:17maybe in a point
21:18of confusion.
21:20The only thing
21:20I can suggest
21:21but Victor Rosado
21:24ambles back
21:25to the corner
21:26looking a little
21:27worse for wear.
21:28You okay Victor?
21:29You all right?
21:30Can you continue?
21:31What?
21:31What's wrong?
21:32Don't tell him
21:33my job.
21:33I'm an Arturo
21:34just right
21:34as close as you are.
21:35Junior.
21:36Let's double up
21:37on the jab.
21:38You gotta work
21:38that body.
21:39You see how
21:39he's dropping
21:39his hands?
21:40Then you bring
21:40it off.
21:41When you say
21:41throw his arm.
21:42Don't grab his
21:42back.
21:43Throw his arm.
21:45Okay.
21:46Okay.
21:46Forget about all
21:47that.
21:47You gotta work
21:47the body more.
21:48They're hooked
21:48to the body.
21:49You gotta see how
21:49he works.
21:50Keep your balance.
21:51Sit.
21:51You're staying
21:52too straight off.
21:53Okay?
21:53And double up.
21:54And step around.
21:56Okay?
21:56Not doing any
21:57of it now, Steve,
21:58but watch what
21:58Rosado is doing.
21:59Yeah, that punch
22:00was really right
22:00on the blue belt line.
22:01I don't know
22:02if I call that low
22:03and Molnar doing
22:05the best work
22:05he's done
22:06in the fight
22:06on the inside.
22:08Right uppercuts
22:08right to the midsection.
22:09That's a great punch
22:11against a guy
22:11who may not
22:12be in the greatest
22:13of shape.
22:13That'll definitely
22:14take the air
22:15out of him.
22:15And again,
22:16AD Dragone
22:17in the corner
22:18of Victor Rosado
22:19urging him
22:20to get busy
22:21and make it happen
22:22because he is behind
22:23on everybody's cards,
22:24I would assume.
22:27When on the outside
22:28as he's boxing now,
22:30Molnar,
22:31he's in a classic stance.
22:32I think Greenland
22:33has been a good influence
22:34that way.
22:35He's not squared up
22:36as he was
22:37in some prior fight.
22:38And it's Rosado
22:39trying to score
22:40with the jab here,
22:41at least trying
22:41to establish
22:42his credentials,
22:43but getting backed up
22:44again as Molnar
22:45again stalks.
22:53Molnar again
22:54with a nice right
22:55and content
22:56to go up
22:57for the uppercut,
22:59try to lift
23:00his opponent's head
23:00and put him
23:01in position
23:01for a right frost.
23:04When they're in close,
23:05Molnar's outpunching
23:06Rosado three to one.
23:07It's really up to Rosado
23:08to do something
23:09from the outside
23:10to discourage Molnar.
23:11There's no commitment
23:12to a jab from Rosado
23:13and that's killing him.
23:17Rosado's got to get
23:18out of the corner.
23:19His chin is just
23:20hanging out there
23:21ready to be hit.
23:24And Johnny Molnar
23:25is glad to oblige.
23:27Very little resistance
23:28from Victor Rosado.
23:3130 seconds or more
23:33just in the corner
23:34wailing away
23:35as Johnny Molnar
23:37with a golden opportunity
23:38to close the show here.
23:40He could just sit there
23:41and tee off, Steve.
23:42Why doesn't Rosado
23:43spin out of danger?
23:44He's being worn down.
23:46He really is.
23:47Oh, that's a low left hand
23:48by Rosado
23:49and Molnar affected by it.
23:50Let's see if the referee
23:51does something.
23:52There's a lot of time left
23:54in round four.
23:56Tony Orlando urging
23:57Victor Rosado
23:58to keep those punches up.
24:04A.D. Durgon told us
24:05that he and Rosado
24:07have been looking
24:07to get Molnar
24:08in the ring
24:08three, four times
24:09and Molnar kept saying
24:10no.
24:11I don't know.
24:12You know,
24:12you get what you wish
24:13for sometimes.
24:13It's not the best thing.
24:15I don't know
24:16what Rosado's doing
24:17with that southpaw stance
24:18for 10 seconds
24:19and then going back
24:19to the right
24:20because it's not
24:20confusing anybody.
24:24Molnar firing away
24:26and sailing wide
24:27with that left
24:27but connecting there
24:28off the clinch.
24:29Watch the elbow
24:30as Molnar again
24:33is just setting up.
24:36With the right to the rib,
24:38left to the ribs.
24:39Now Rosado answers
24:40with an uppercut
24:41of his own.
24:42Molnar has just
24:43planted in
24:44and winging shots
24:45as they trade there
24:46in the center of the ring.
24:50Molnar walking
24:51through Rosado
24:52and he's not even
24:52using much upper
24:53head or upper
24:54body movement
24:55on his way in
24:56because he's getting
24:57in so easily.
25:06Molnar just
25:08trying to break
25:10his man down
25:11and dominating
25:13this fight
25:13as we come
25:15to the end
25:16of round four.
25:29right on the pipe.
25:30Stop chopping
25:31that right hand.
25:32You're chopping
25:32the right hand
25:33straight.
25:34That's what I want
25:35to see.
25:35More hooks to the body.
25:37You okay?
25:42Bang your knees
25:43a little bit.
25:43You too shut off.
25:44You got to try.
25:44That's all.
25:45when the bell hits,
25:46when I say break,
25:47no punching.
25:47Okay?
25:48He told me.
25:49No punching.
25:50Okay?
25:50No punching.
25:51Okay?
25:53Don't let him bend you
25:54like that.
25:54You should be able
25:54to do that to him.
25:55And there's uppercut
25:56here for you.
25:56Either hand.
25:58Tony Orlando warning
25:59Rosado to keep him up
26:00as we see action
26:01in the corner.
26:02This is Molnar's
26:03office right here.
26:04As long as the fight's
26:05in close like that.
26:06You know,
26:06Molnar's been lambed
26:06in his share
26:07of low blows too.
26:08And we saw one
26:09from Rosado
26:10in this round as well.
26:12All right,
26:13here it is.
26:13Here's Rosado's
26:14low blow.
26:15How low?
26:16Pretty low
26:16because you could tell
26:17Molnar wasn't acting.
26:18I mean,
26:19he wanted to grab
26:20himself there
26:21to sort of ease
26:22the pain.
26:22And he comes out
26:23stalking with intent
26:24once again.
26:25Johnny Molnar's
26:26in the white and blue.
26:27Victor Rosado
26:28and red and white.
26:30As we go to round five,
26:32scheduled for ten.
26:34Rosado runs into
26:35the left hand
26:36as he stands
26:37flat-footed.
26:38Molnar's cutting it.
26:40Left eye.
26:45See blood on his nose
26:46too.
26:46If it's coming
26:47from the eye
26:47of his defect,
26:48get a better shot
26:49of it.
26:49And Rosado senses
26:50it there
26:51and smells the blood
26:52and goes after it.
26:53Yeah, Rosado
26:53really has not
26:54had a lot
26:55of oomph
26:56in his game.
26:56Maybe seeing
26:57Molnar's blood
26:58would give him
26:59a little acceleration.
27:02Let's see how
27:02he reacts.
27:03I didn't see it
27:04from a punch,
27:05David.
27:05It looked more
27:05perhaps,
27:07more probably
27:07from a head punch.
27:12Johnny Molnar's
27:13dealt with worse.
27:13I don't think
27:14it's going to affect
27:14the way he fights.
27:16And you see
27:17the crimson stain
27:18on his
27:21on his leg
27:22as the blood
27:22flows
27:23and they call
27:23in the doctor
27:24to have a look.
27:25Come here, Johnny.
27:26Come here.
27:39Come on, John.
27:40What's your body?
27:41Okay.
27:42Yeah, they can stop it.
27:44Yeah.
27:45You're so good, huh?
27:46You're going to go
27:48and they can stop it.
27:51Yeah, I like it.
27:52I like it.
27:54We're going to score
27:55cards with his
27:55headbutt.
27:57With the headbutt?
27:58Stopping.
28:02Give us one round,
28:04Doc.
28:06Give us one round.
28:07All right.
28:09That's a good one.
28:10Good one.
28:10Two guys.
28:14We're going in there.
28:19Yeah.
28:21Try to get him
28:22through this round.
28:23Yeah, yeah.
28:25Okay.
28:26Yeah.
28:26I'll tell you what.
28:27Want to go through
28:27the round?
28:28Try and get it in?
28:29Okay.
28:30Okay.
28:31If they can stop it.
28:31Okay.
28:32Stopping with pressure.
28:33Okay.
28:35Okay.
28:40Well, this is very critical.
28:42It's a draw if they don't close out this round,
28:45if they had to stop it.
28:46They've got to get through round five,
28:47does Johnny Molnar,
28:48because, Steve,
28:49he's way ahead of the cards,
28:50but the blood is flowing down into his eyes.
28:52Big, big break.
28:53Big break for Molnar.
28:54This is a point deduction for a low blow,
28:57but more importantly,
28:58Larry Haggard,
28:59the commissioner here in Jersey,
29:01told Tony Orlando to convey to the doctor,
29:04let's get it going.
29:05As long as this round ends,
29:06we would go to the cards
29:08should the fight be stopped
29:09because of the cut.
29:10Clearly Molnar's ahead.
29:11And he has to survive
29:14as we're deep into round five.
29:18And Rosado with another low shot
29:20that Orlando didn't see.
29:21He digs a left hook there
29:23and just trying to tee off.
29:25He's a desperate guy here.
29:26And Molnar has to be tuned.
29:28Cut that way
29:28with blood obscuring his vision.
29:31Great action.
29:32Rosado definitely got a wake-up call.
29:33That's a bad cut,
29:34but I'll tell you,
29:35usually you try to give the corner
29:36at least one chance
29:37to stop a cut.
29:39Rosado letting it all hang on.
29:41Now he dances away.
29:43Minute to go.
29:45In round five,
29:46and that would make it official
29:48if they had a stock assist
29:49because of the headbutt,
29:50they'd go to the cards.
29:51Keep the punches up,
29:52off the heads.
29:53I thought maybe Rosado
29:55was cut over the right eye too
29:56the way he reacted.
29:57Rosado's mouth is open
29:58and gasping for air, Steve.
30:01A meager right hand
30:03and he takes a counter shot
30:04as plenty of resolve left
30:06in Johnny Molnar.
30:07He may be cut,
30:08but man,
30:09his determination is there
30:11and so is his stamina
30:12at this point.
30:13He is firing some shots.
30:15This is not Hector Camacho Jr.
30:17in the ring.
30:18This is Johnny Molnar
30:19and the cut is not
30:20going to stop him.
30:22That's for sure.
30:25And a solid right
30:26chills Rosado down.
30:28Hold it, hold it.
30:29Get that.
30:29Come on.
30:30Quit laying on that head now.
30:31Let's go.
30:33That's what's going
30:34into the eye, Nick.
30:35I'd be surprised
30:35if they let him come out.
30:37But five rounds are complete
30:38and they are now.
30:39He wins on point.
30:40Oh, another chilling right hand
30:42as they come to the close
30:43comes round five
30:44as Molnar scores big.
30:57Stay with me, John.
30:59You've got to look right at him,
31:00okay?
31:05Let's see.
31:13And here we see
31:14how that cut was opened
31:16with the headbutt there.
31:18No doubt.
31:21And here we see, Steve,
31:23the point deduction.
31:24Rosado again.
31:25Rabbit punching there
31:26and Orlando sees it,
31:27the referee.
31:28Yeah, we kind of glossed over that
31:30because it came right after
31:31the doctor took that long look
31:32at Molnar's cut.
31:33But the doctor's
31:34in the corner right now.
31:36And here we see Molnar
31:37coming on big
31:38with that right
31:40that just freezes
31:41Victor Rosado.
31:42Best punch of the fight
31:43so far.
31:43Round six says
31:44they will fight on
31:45and here we go.
31:47Full throttle action here.
31:54At the halfway mark,
31:56five rounds completed.
31:57Should this fight be stopped?
31:58Well, I have Molnar
31:59ahead 49-45.
32:01Rosado lost that last round
32:03and lost the extra point
32:04for the rabbit punching.
32:06So Rosado dug himself
32:07a really big hole here
32:08and does he have the energy
32:09to come out of it?
32:11Doesn't look like it to me.
32:12He's got swelling
32:12under his right eye
32:13as Molnar still continues
32:15to stalk
32:16as the blood begins
32:16to trickle
32:17from that headbutt cut
32:19above his left eye.
32:22Rosado trying the jab here
32:26and takes one in return.
32:29Rosado trying to dig
32:30to the body here
32:32but Johnny Molnar
32:34backing him up.
32:36You see the blood
32:38on Rosado's shoulder
32:39courtesy of Johnny Molnar
32:41and that headbutt.
32:43Yeah, that cut
32:45is a bad one.
32:47It's a horizontal cut
32:48right above the left eye
32:49and the blood can't help
32:50but go into Johnny Molnar's eye.
32:52You can see him wiping
32:52it away now, Steve,
32:54as he sets in,
32:55digs in,
32:55and goes to work again.
32:57Get back there.
32:58His face becoming
32:59a mask of blood
33:00as he continues
33:01to wipe away,
33:02flick away that blood
33:02with his glove
33:04and battle on.
33:05Rosado tries for the right
33:07and then he goes low.
33:08Takes a left and return.
33:12Rosado still in close
33:13in that danger zone
33:15as Molnar tries
33:17to take away
33:17his punching room.
33:19Victor Rosado told us
33:20he could do it either way.
33:22Fox or outpunch this guy
33:24because he's so predictable.
33:26Johnny Molnar
33:27showing us some good wrinkles here.
33:29He's predictable
33:29in that he has one gear
33:30nonstop and forward.
33:33You see Molnar's lack
33:34of upper body movement
33:35and head movement.
33:36When Rosado puts
33:37a couple of punches together,
33:38straight punches
33:39from a distance,
33:40he lands them.
33:45He looks tired, though,
33:46Nick.
33:46You pointed it out before.
33:47Rosado really does look spent.
33:48Well, he can be backed up
33:50and his stamina,
33:51you know,
33:51he faded last July
33:52in his only 10-round fight,
33:54Steve,
33:54as you pointed out
33:55at the top of the telecast.
33:58His mouth is open,
33:59Victor Rosado.
34:00Not a good sign.
34:02But he scores there
34:03with a quick combination
34:04and dances out of danger.
34:06But here comes
34:07the relentless
34:07Johnny Molnar.
34:09The blood splattered
34:11white trunks
34:11with a blue trim.
34:14And teeing off here
34:15in close.
34:18As you say,
34:19this is where he lives,
34:20Molnar.
34:21Yeah,
34:21he's just looking
34:22to set up
34:23that left hook.
34:23There it is right there,
34:24Steve.
34:26Come on,
34:27what's he say?
34:27Rosado doing nothing here.
34:29Not much strength
34:30to push Molnar off,
34:31who won't be denied.
34:33Here comes Rosado
34:34with a flurry here
34:35towards the end
34:36of round six,
34:36but not enough
34:37to save this round,
34:38Steve.
34:43Well,
34:46and Rosado
34:46starts heading back
34:47to the wrong corner,
34:48Steve,
34:48so once again
34:50a sign
34:51that he's feeling
34:52a little fuzzy.
34:54What a start
34:55to show Fox
34:56the new generation.
34:57No hype necessary,
34:58Steve.
34:58These guys
34:59put it on a table
35:00and let it hang out
35:01right away.
35:02And we look at Molnar
35:03here in the corner.
35:05That's a bad gash.
35:17Step job.
35:18Step job.
35:19Cut man.
35:21Harry Kite
35:22has his hands full.
35:23I should say
35:24Dave Teddy
35:25with his hands full here.
35:27Colossal challenge.
35:28Don't worry about it.
35:28Put your hands up, Johnny.
35:30He's not bleeding right now.
35:32Okay.
35:33He's stopped this, Steve.
35:36All face back in
35:38and they're ready
35:39for round seven.
35:40Molnar up on his stool
35:41as is Rosado.
35:43And here we go again.
35:50Molnar looks real relaxed
35:52in there
35:52despite all the problems.
35:54The bad thumb
35:54on his right hand,
35:55the cut over his eye.
35:56This is a guy
35:57who used to waste
35:58a lot of energy
35:59before fights.
36:00It's made you wonder
36:01could he ever go ten?
36:02Well, he's going ten
36:03pretty effectively
36:04so far tonight.
36:05Deep into the fight
36:06and he's content
36:07to be dragged on
36:08into deep waters.
36:09He takes an uppercut
36:10there by Rosado.
36:12Rosado's still on the ropes
36:13here and he can't match
36:14Molnar's firepower, Steve.
36:16He hasn't done it all night.
36:17He should get out
36:18in the middle of the ring
36:19and try to unbox him.
36:20Here he goes southpaw.
36:21He's trying to pull anything
36:22he can out of a bag right now.
36:24None of this is working.
36:26Going southpaw
36:26is not a bad idea
36:27if he can jab
36:28with the right hand
36:28because the best weapon
36:30against the southpaw
36:30is the lead right hand
36:31and Molnar has a bad right hand.
36:32Well, Molnar
36:33not in our chartered waters.
36:34He has gone beyond sixth before
36:37but only once
36:38and that's the only fight
36:39he lost.
36:41So he's got to reverse it here
36:42but he is comfortably,
36:43I would say,
36:44ahead on everybody's scorecard,
36:45Steve, including their own.
36:46Oh, yeah, I have a way ahead.
36:47Johnny, up his head.
36:48Come on, up his head.
36:48Let's go, let's go.
36:49Kelly, Tony Orlando
36:50warning Johnny Molnar
36:51not the Cups.
36:52Rosado, here comes Molnar
36:54firing the left cross.
36:56Step back, step back.
37:01Steve, should Molnar
37:02go for the kill here
37:03and worried about his
37:04cutter, should he
37:05see that this guy
37:06can't discourage him
37:07trying to box
37:08come in behind the jab
37:09and know that he's
37:10comfortably ahead.
37:11No, he shouldn't change
37:12anything he's doing.
37:13If the fight gets stopped
37:14because of the cut,
37:14he's going to win on points.
37:16He just has to keep
37:16putting those rounds
37:18in the bank
37:18and doing everything right.
37:19Stay inside,
37:20stay attacking
37:21and don't give Rosado
37:22any rest.
37:22Well, let's see
37:23what Mark Kroehling,
37:24the trainer of Johnny Molnar,
37:25thinks.
37:25Let's go to Tim Smith,
37:26our third man in the ring.
37:29Okay.
37:29We're in with Mark Kroehling.
37:31He's resorting his guy on.
37:32Mark, what have you been telling him?
37:34He's got the bad hand.
37:36He's got the cut over his eye.
37:37What have you been telling Molnar?
37:39Don't think about your hand.
37:40Use it, hey.
37:41That's all you can do
37:42is use your hand.
37:42Use your hand.
37:43Get your jab in there
37:44and work there
37:45and just dig to the body.
37:46When he's inside,
37:47throw some uppercuts
37:47because the guy's leaning inside.
37:50Has the cut over his eye
37:51changed anything
37:52with the way he's fighting?
37:53No, no, not at all.
37:55That's the way he fights.
37:56You know,
37:57he just keeps coming.
37:58It's just, you know,
37:59I don't want him to
38:01just, you know,
38:01think about the cut
38:02and just keep wiping the cut
38:03and I don't want the cut
38:05to distract him.
38:05So whenever he talks
38:07about his hand on the cut,
38:08I'm like, hey, look,
38:09it's too late.
38:10You've got to do
38:10what you've got to do.
38:11Okay.
38:12Okay, so he's just got to do
38:14what he's got to do
38:14in a fight
38:15where he's cut
38:15and he's got a bad thumb, Nick.
38:17Well, he's doing it, Tim,
38:18it looks like
38:19as he continues to score there
38:20with a left hook
38:22as Rosado doing
38:23very little in this round.
38:25His instructions were
38:26that hook to the body
38:28was open all night,
38:28but we haven't seen much
38:29as Rosado tries
38:31to dance out of danger,
38:32but he's in his corner again,
38:33which is just
38:34where Johnny Molnar wants him.
38:37Rosado fighting back
38:38a little bit here
38:39off the ropes
38:40as we come to the close
38:42of round seven.
38:43Another round of the bag
38:45and looks for Johnny Molnar.
38:48Coming up later tonight
38:50on Showtime 2,
38:51a world championship
38:52doubleheader.
38:53WBO 154-pound champion
38:56Harry Simon
38:57faces former WBC
38:58160-pound champ
38:59Haseen Sharife
39:00for the vacant
39:01middleweight title
39:02of the WBO.
39:04Then, 147-pound champion
39:05Daniel Santos
39:06makes the third defense
39:08of his WBO
39:09welterweight crown
39:09against number one
39:10contender
39:11Antonio Margarito.
39:12Catch the exciting action
39:14from Bayamon, Puerto Rico
39:16later tonight
39:17at 10 Eastern
39:17and Pacific
39:18on Showtime 2.
39:20But meanwhile,
39:21we're here
39:22in Atlantic City
39:23for our debut
39:24showcase event
39:25on Showbox,
39:27the new generation.
39:28Johnny Molnar said,
39:29this is my fight,
39:31this is my time,
39:32my debut on Showbox,
39:34and I'm going to
39:34set the pace
39:35and keep it toward,
39:36and he has, Steve.
39:38Hey, they're keeping him
39:39in the fight
39:40with that cut.
39:41But, of course,
39:41the problem
39:42with the butt rule,
39:43Nick,
39:43is that in a way,
39:44Molnar would be better
39:44off if the fight
39:45were stopped
39:46because at this point
39:47they would go to the cards
39:48and he'd be a winner.
39:49Yeah, this guy's got
39:51Macho and Warrior
39:52in him, Steve.
39:53He'd love to close
39:53the show with conviction,
39:54I think.
39:55Now, Rizzotto
39:56with his hands up
39:57and a nice combination
39:58in saying,
39:59come to me, Johnny.
40:01Hands are low.
40:04Kind of ironic
40:06that Johnny Molnar
40:08sparred about 100 rounds
40:09with Hector Camacho Jr.
40:10when Camacho was training
40:11for Jesse James Leha
40:14because Molnar
40:14is a pure fighter
40:15and what we saw
40:16from Camacho
40:17was something less
40:17in that fight.
40:19What can Rizzotto
40:20do at this stage, Steve?
40:21He's hopelessly behind
40:23on the cards
40:23and he knows it.
40:25I don't think
40:25he has the legs
40:26or the energy
40:27to stand outside and box.
40:28I don't know
40:29if he has the skill
40:30to do that.
40:30I really don't know
40:31what he could do
40:31at this point
40:32other than try to
40:33fire a left hook
40:34that maybe could catch
40:35Molnar perfectly
40:35and knock him out.
40:36I don't think
40:37there's any other answer.
40:39Again, Johnny Molnar
40:41his cut man
40:42Dave Tenney's
40:42done a good job
40:43because the blood
40:44has stopped flowing
40:44above his left eyebrow.
40:46Molnar scores
40:47with a hook
40:48to the body.
40:52And again
40:53trying to hook.
40:56Still not committed
40:57to that jab.
40:58He's just trying
40:58to walk right through
40:59Victor Rosado.
41:00Doesn't respect
41:01his power
41:01obviously.
41:05Steve, has Rosado
41:07scored at all?
41:08Has he made
41:08Molnar hesitant
41:10one moment
41:10of his fight?
41:11The only times
41:12we've seen anything
41:13from Rosado
41:13the round that Molnar
41:15got cut
41:15Rosado rallied
41:16a little bit
41:16when he threw
41:17a lot of punches
41:18at one time.
41:18He hasn't really
41:19been throwing
41:19in combination.
41:20His jab's been
41:21a nine factor.
41:23There really hasn't
41:24been any acceleration.
41:26There's another
41:27low blow.
41:28As Orlando
41:29lets them fight on.
41:30Yeah, Tony
41:31missed that one.
41:32And Molnar
41:32seems stunned
41:33by it too.
41:34It took the air
41:34out of his balloon.
41:35But here he comes
41:36back firing
41:38combinations in close.
41:48So,
41:51Molnar's got Rosado
41:52in the corner again.
41:54Trying to work
41:55him over
41:55against the ropes.
41:56And Victor
41:57won't spin
41:58out of trouble
41:58here as he
41:59continues to
42:00absorb shots.
42:02He looks like
42:03a spent fighter
42:05there in the
42:05corner now
42:06as Molnar
42:07goes downstairs
42:08and then up.
42:08But here comes
42:09Rosado back
42:10with a combination
42:11of his own.
42:11How much steam
42:12on it?
42:12Yeah, very little.
42:13Totally arm
42:14punches by Rosado.
42:17Molnar
42:17not much on his
42:18punches when he
42:18flurries,
42:19but then every
42:19once in a while
42:20he'll load up
42:20with a big hook.
42:22Don't quit
42:23Victor Rosado
42:24though.
42:24He's southpaw
42:25for a moment
42:26now where
42:26he looks
42:27very unnatural
42:27to make it.
42:29And now
42:30nice left
42:31jab
42:31and a low
42:32blow
42:32and Molnar's
42:33down.
42:36No question
42:37about that,
42:38Steve.
42:39You know,
42:40I don't know
42:41if it's intentional
42:42or not,
42:43but I'm sure
42:44we'll see another
42:44point deduction
42:45and then if
42:46Rosado does it
42:46again,
42:47I think he gets
42:47DQ.
42:48Stay here.
42:49Stay here.
42:53That cut is bleeding
42:54pretty badly
42:55again.
42:55One more time
42:55you're going to get
42:56a point taken away.
42:57You understand?
42:58I'm telling you.
43:00Johnny, you okay?
43:02You all right?
43:04You okay?
43:06Johnny Molnar
43:07shakes it off
43:08and he's ready
43:08to go here.
43:10Nick, I'm shocked.
43:11I'm shocked the referee
43:12didn't take a point
43:13away.
43:14Just a warning
43:15to Victor Rosado
43:16who's trying to get
43:17up on his toes
43:17here.
43:19End of round band
43:20and...
43:20That was a butt,
43:22I believe.
43:22Plaining about a
43:23headbutt
43:23and Johnny Molnar
43:24is hot now.
43:26We'll see if it brings
43:27in some extra
43:28nastiness in him.
43:29Oh my God.
43:29Oh my God.
43:30Oh my God.
43:30Don't worry about it.
43:31Oh my God.
43:31Oh my God.
43:32Let's do it.
43:32You got two more
43:33out of the two.
43:34Oh my God.
43:35You know what I'm saying?
43:37Come on, baby.
43:37Don't worry.
43:38Keep going with one.
43:40Okay.
43:40Watch his head, baby.
43:41Keep going with one.
43:42I got it.
43:43He's a blow-banging head.
43:44That's the second one.
43:46That's the second one.
43:46That's the headbutt.
43:47You got it.
43:48You had a lot of low blow.
43:49You took one point.
43:52Low blow fest
43:53in round eight.
43:55Well, I tell you,
43:56when it comes from
43:57the bottom up like that,
43:59even if it hits
43:59the belt line,
44:00it appears to be lower
44:01than it maybe really is.
44:02I'd still call that
44:02a low blow.
44:03What about this one, Steve?
44:04That one's definitely low.
44:06No doubt about that.
44:07That's south of the border, baby.
44:09And then at the very end
44:12of the round,
44:12I believe this is a headbutt.
44:14Oh, yeah.
44:15A bad one.
44:16Boy, Johnny Molnar's
44:16taking a beating,
44:17just not from legal punches,
44:19from butts and low blows.
44:20Well, Molnar is livid
44:21in this,
44:22basically calling Rosado
44:23a cheap shot artist
44:24and worse.
44:25And there's a second cut, Nick.
44:27A second cut over
44:28Molnar's left eye.
44:29The result of that
44:30second headbutt
44:31we just saw.
44:33As Rosado stands
44:34in a neutral corner,
44:36Johnny Molnar remains
44:37on his stool
44:38being attended
44:38by the ring position.
44:44Okay.
44:49Back there.
44:50Back there.
44:50That's enough with the eye.
44:51Okay?
44:52That's enough with the eye.
44:53That's enough.
44:54That's enough.
44:54We're going to the store, boys.
44:56All right.
44:58Okay.
44:59Hold on.
44:59Yeah.
44:59Okay.
45:00It's fine.
45:00Okay.
45:03And Tony Orlando,
45:05the referee,
45:06has called it a night
45:07saying,
45:08we're going to the scorecards.
45:10Nick, I'll tell you again,
45:12Larry Haddad
45:12seemed to have
45:13the most influence there.
45:15He told Orlando,
45:16Orlando came back
45:17to the doctor
45:17and said,
45:18that's enough.
45:19So Larry Haddad
45:20twice in this fight
45:21was a key figure.
45:23Victor Rosado
45:23skating on thin ice,
45:25taking bows all around
45:26as he gets booze
45:27and Molnar
45:28just blows past him here,
45:30furious at
45:31the tactics
45:32of Victor Rosado.
45:33He doesn't want to have
45:34anything to do
45:35with him here.
45:35I have,
45:37Molnar,
45:37I had 79-72.
45:39I gave Rosado
45:40only one round.
45:41I don't think
45:42there's any doubt,
45:43although you never say that
45:44on TV
45:44because you never know
45:45what the judge is
45:46and they can make you look bad,
45:47but I don't see how Molnar
45:48didn't win this fight
45:49by technical decision.
45:52Well, again,
45:53Johnny Molnar
45:54doing all the right things.
45:55Mark Breeland
45:56with a two-week crash course
45:57saying this was a fighter
45:58who really didn't know
45:59how to fight in many ways,
46:00who was surviving
46:01and thriving
46:02just on guts.
46:04He showed me
46:04a lot of things
46:05tonight, Steve.
46:07What about him
46:07winning the fight?
46:08You know,
46:09he won this fight
46:10assuming he did win it
46:11on points.
46:11He won it as much
46:12on will
46:12as he did on skill,
46:13Nick.
46:14He just imposed
46:14his will on Rosado.
46:18And let's look
46:19at some of the tactics
46:20from Victor Rosado
46:21who has the audacity
46:23to stand on the ropes
46:24like he's a champion.
46:26Low blows all night
46:27and I'll tell you,
46:28the way he threw
46:28those shots,
46:30I'm not so sure
46:31they weren't intentional.
46:32I don't like to accuse him
46:33of it,
46:33but he made no effort
46:34to raise the pressure.
46:36Hold it.
46:39And one more time,
46:40that's the 5,000
46:41the second time
46:42which led to the stopper.
46:47And there we see it,
46:48no doubt about it,
46:49as Larry Hazard,
46:50the head of the
46:50New Jersey State
46:52Athletic Control Board
46:53rules and regulations
46:54has taken the scorecards
46:56from the three judges
46:57and were about
46:58to make it official.
46:59One of the worst
47:00kept secrets
47:01in this building,
47:02Steve,
47:03this was Johnny
47:03Molnar's night.
47:08Victor Rosado
47:09predicted a knockout,
47:10said that Molnar
47:11was tailor-made for him
47:12right there to be hit.
47:14We didn't see it happen.
47:15No, he said,
47:15you know,
47:16you can't miss Molnar
47:17with punches.
47:17You know what?
47:18He didn't throw enough punches
47:19to find out
47:19if that was true or not
47:20because, again,
47:22Molnar imposed his will
47:23on Rosado
47:24from really very early on.
47:25The second round down
47:26was all Molnar.
47:29And, again,
47:30we want to remind you
47:30that coming up next,
47:31our main event,
47:32two unbeaten lightweights.
47:34Martin O'Malley
47:35against Leonard Doran.
47:3817-0.
47:39And, as you've said,
47:40somebody's O's got to go,
47:42Steve.
47:42That's our main event
47:43coming up on
47:43Showbox the New Generation.
47:47As we're ready
47:49for the announcement
47:50from Amy Hayes.
47:57Ladies and gentlemen,
48:00this bout has been stopped
48:02due to an accidental headbutt.
48:05The New Jersey rules
48:08require that after half
48:11of the bout
48:12has been completed,
48:13that we go to the scorecards
48:16for the decision.
48:21And, here it is.
48:23Judge George Colon
48:25scores the bout
48:2679-72.
48:31Judge Al DeVito
48:32scores the bout
48:3377-74.
48:36And, Judge Joseph Pasquale
48:39scores the bout
48:4080-71.
48:42All for your winner
48:43by unanimous decision,
48:45Johnny Molnar!
48:50So, Johnny Molnar
48:52scores big.
48:54A unanimous decision
48:55winner to run
48:55his record
48:56in 19-1-1.
48:58Great win.
48:59Great win for Johnny Molnar.
49:01He goes through hell
49:01when he loses,
49:02he goes through hell
49:03when he wins.
49:03It's amazing, you know?
49:04He even fights prelims
49:06in the dressing room.
49:07He was so nervous
49:07and wired for sound,
49:08but he said
49:09he was working on his cool
49:10and he kept that there
49:11in the ring,
49:12although we saw
49:13the tactics by Victor Rosado
49:14trying to stay alive
49:16in this fight.
49:17You see him all cut up
49:17just like his stablemate
49:18Arturo Gatti.
49:19And you know what?
49:20Two weeks with Mark Breland
49:21as his new trainer
49:22was not going to make
49:23that much of a difference,
49:23but now he has time
49:25to really work with Breland
49:26and get much better.
49:27Well, we saw the scorecards.
49:28We know how you had it,
49:29Steve Farhood.
49:30Now let's look at you,
49:31the viewer,
49:31how you had it at home.
49:33Those of you
49:33who logged online,
49:36put it this way.
49:38When Johnny Molnar
49:39took on Victor Rosado
49:40in our inaugural vault
49:42on Showtime,
49:43Molnar pitching a shutout
49:46as the viewers
49:48and people who have logged on
49:50on the internet
49:51have spoken.
49:54Let's go to Tim Smith
49:55with the victory
49:56and the victory.
49:57Thanks, Nick.
49:58And we're here
49:58with Johnny Molnar.
50:00Tough day,
50:01but a great,
50:02great performance.
50:03Congratulations
50:03on a tough victory.
50:05Now, you had the hand,
50:07the thumb,
50:08in the first round.
50:09How big of a problem
50:10was that for you?
50:11And what's the condition
50:11of that, you think?
50:12It's good.
50:13It feels good.
50:13I mean,
50:14I could have continued.
50:15It just hurt,
50:15you know,
50:16sometimes,
50:16but not a lot.
50:17It's good.
50:17Now, did you think
50:18that the headbutts
50:20were accidental
50:20or the low blows?
50:22I mean,
50:22it seemed like
50:22a pretty vicious,
50:23dirty fight out.
50:24I don't know
50:24if they were accidental.
50:26Maybe one of the headbutts
50:27was accidental,
50:27but the last one
50:28wasn't accidental.
50:29The first one
50:30that opened the cut
50:30was accidental.
50:31Yeah.
50:32I don't know
50:32what my eye looked like.
50:33Now, none of that
50:34stopped you.
50:35I mean,
50:35your style was straight ahead
50:37and didn't seem to...
50:38He can't punch.
50:39He can't stop me.
50:40The only way he's going to stop me
50:41is with his head.
50:42So you knew that
50:42he wasn't going to be
50:43a big puncher
50:44and what was your strategy
50:45in that regard?
50:45For the first round,
50:46I knew he wasn't going
50:46to be a big puncher,
50:47so I was ready for him
50:49no matter what.
50:49His head,
50:50I wasn't expecting him.
50:52All right.
50:52So, Nick,
50:53a great fight,
50:54a very great debut
50:56for show boxing
50:57with Johnny Molnar
50:58and a tough,
50:59tough fight.
50:59Again, Johnny,
51:00congratulations.
51:01I just want to thank
51:01Main Events
51:02and Showtime
51:03for this opportunity
51:04and thank him.
51:05Okay.
51:06Well,
51:06we assume nothing
51:07in boxing,
51:08but I have a feeling
51:09we're going to see
51:09Johnny Molnar again
51:10here on Showbox.
51:11I hope so.
51:11He really is all action.
51:13He only knows how to fight
51:14one way,
51:14and you know that
51:14whether he wins or loses,
51:16it's going to be
51:16a very exciting fight.
51:17Once again,
51:18we get off with a bang
51:19here at Atlantic City,
51:20our inaugural Showbox,
