00:00In their only matchup.
00:02Goes after the first pitch here and pops it up.
00:04Second baseman Nick Madrigal into shallow center.
00:07Puts it away.
00:08Coming home out to Bay.
00:10Here comes the throw.
00:11It gets by Ohoppy.
00:12And the Astros get a sacrifice fly on a ball hit into shallow center just beyond the infield.
00:19Unreal.
00:205-4 Astros.
00:23First lead tonight.
00:27Thanks to Todd Callis, Jeff Blum, Space City, Home Network.
00:34Again, those are one of those moments.
00:36Whenever they went to break, I would have loved to have been able to hear the conversation when they went
00:42to break after that.
00:44If you missed it last night, the Astros, in a game in which both teams seem to be into giving
00:55away the game.
00:57Repeatedly.
00:58We talked about it.
00:59I don't know what's happened to Mike Trout.
01:00Mike Trout just dropped a routine fly ball on the warning track hit by Jordan Alvarez.
01:07I don't even know if it hit his glove.
01:08It was just, I mean, he's just standing right there with two outs.
01:12Should have ended the inning.
01:13And, of course, Christian Walker, who later was pinched run for in a tie game by Shea Whitcomb.
01:18I know that just, that had to have eaten Clint alive.
01:22Yeah, I was watching this time.
01:24An idiot.
01:25He's an idiot, man.
01:26Yeah, he is.
01:27I mean, your best defensive player, not to mention, you're by far the best person.
01:32It's your second best hitter this year.
01:34Second best, yeah.
01:34He's got as many home runs as Springer, Bregman, who's another.
01:42Whoever, there's another former.
01:45Dubon and.
01:46Not Dubon, but there's another.
01:47It's the kid that was in right field last year.
01:49Yeah, Tucker.
01:50Yeah, Tucker.
01:50Yeah.
01:51Yeah, Tucker.
01:52He's got more home runs than those three combined.
01:55Bregman, Tucker, and Springer.
01:57Christian Walker.
01:58And you pulled his ass out in a tie game.
02:00Tie game.
02:03Tie game.
02:03Thanks.
02:04Blume out.
02:05For Shea.
02:07Which is just dumb.
02:08I don't care that it worked out.
02:09It's dumb.
02:10So good.
02:11It really is.
02:12No, I'm serious.
02:14Because, can we hear from Al Tuve?
02:16Can we hear?
02:16Because I do want to get to it.
02:17Because I have some thoughts on Spencer Arragetti and his performance.
02:22He somehow turned in a quality start after a nightmare second inning where he gave up three
02:28runs.
02:29By the way, I give him a B-plus on the performance.
02:32You know how I like when guys don't have their stuff, especially young guys who had a lot
02:40of good happen, and that's what it's been for Spencer for the most part this last start.
02:44But for him not have his good stuff and somehow turn that into a quality start, six innings,
02:51three earns, seven Ks, four walks, that was big time because he gave his team a chance
02:56to stay in it.
02:57Like a really good chance to stay in it.
02:59So I really, that's growth for me with Spencer Arragetti to be able to give that type of
03:04performance when you don't have your stuff.
03:06Now, got all of that out the way, as Steve Harvey said.
03:10Now we got that out the way.
03:11I just want to hear from this fool.
03:13Because, Tyler, if the catcher could field that ball, how, I mean, he would have been
03:21out by how many steps?
03:22A mile, as they say.
03:24It's a terrible base running.
03:26It was about eight steps.
03:27I'm flirting with 10 yards.
03:28Right, about eight steps.
03:29Oh, yeah.
03:30Yeah, you said 10 yards.
03:31Yeah.
03:32The pop-up was barely beyond the second base bag.
03:35Yeah, man.
03:36It's just one man where you, hey, he stops.
03:39Like, he could have been in a pickle.
03:42He could have turned back around and got himself in a pickle.
03:45That's how far away he was if that ball was just not fielded by the catcher.
03:50Easy hop.
03:51I mean, he was in a pickle.
03:53It was that bad.
03:54But here is Altuve describing why he did what he did.
04:03I think that was kind of like a bad play with a good result, you know.
04:07So, Hank ended up winning the game, so I'm going to take it.
04:10Do you feel you had to force the issue there and make them kind of, you know, make the play?
04:14I think that I let the adrenaline going in that moment.
04:17So, you know, I was ready for every flight ball to the outfield.
04:20But, you know, obviously it was a little shorter.
04:22But I kind of was, like, committed to go.
04:25So, I take it.
04:27It was a game-winning RBI by Jake.
04:30So, that's the way I see it.
04:31And I'm happy that we won this game.
04:33I'm glad that's the way you see it.
04:35A game-winning RBI by Jake.
04:37That's what you saw.
04:39No, I'm dead serious with this.
04:41Because, Tyler, I know if you've listened to this show for Tyler, his favorite player is Jose Altuve.
04:48But this particular portion of his game has driven him nuts.
04:53And he can turn on Jose, not all the way, but right there in a heartbeat.
04:58It just irritates him.
05:01And you've seen it, too.
05:03We've been here six, seven years with Altuve.
05:07He does this.
05:08I got to be honest with you.
05:10This is the worst I've ever seen.
05:12That decision yesterday.
05:15I'm just saying, time, score, everything.
05:17That decision yesterday.
05:18That was the worst I've ever seen.
05:20For him, that was beyond heaven.
05:23That was just like, who cares, man?
05:25We're in a walkthrough.
05:26I'm just going to do it.
05:28I'm serious when I ask 713-572-416, YouTube, and Twitch.
05:31Do you think that Joe Espada creates an environment that leads to just really dumb decisions?
05:40Because you guys have been here longer than I have.
05:44Would he?
05:45You think he would have done this?
05:47He's done some pushing the envelope things.
05:51You think he'd have done this with Hinchot or Dusty?
05:54You think he takes off?
05:56Yeah, because I think this is longer than six or seven years.
06:01I'm just saying since I've been here.
06:02That's fair.
06:03I think he would, yes.
06:05I just wonder, does he push it even further because it's Joe?
06:09And Joe creates an environment.
06:11Like, he's not even thinking twice about even there being any consequences at all with this thing.
06:19Ron, I'm going to surprise you on this one.
06:22I don't blame him.
06:25I don't blame him.
06:26I mean, you're sitting over there, and you've watched three years now with Joe Espada and how he handles extra
06:35innings.
06:35You got zero confidence in it.
06:37You just watched him pinch hit for Christian Walker, and you're over there on third base thinking,
06:45it's now or never, boys.
06:47I mean, there ain't no telling.
06:50I mean, he may pull Jordan out of the game on defense.
06:53I mean, on his next 11.
06:55Listen, Jose's not thinking that.
06:56I'm just telling you.
06:57I don't blame him.
06:58I don't care what he's – I'm thinking it.
07:00I am sitting there going – the only makes sense if he's sitting there going, Joe.
07:05I mean, it's the best chance we got.
07:07We're going to give him another chance.
07:08Like, this is the best chance we got.
07:09Me on third base with a pop-up behind second.
07:11I don't think that's quite the case because I think this dude –
07:16In my head of news, Tyler.
07:16I know, I know.
07:17I'm not hating on it, but I just – this dude, Altuve, is the strobe goat in every category except
07:23one,
07:23and in that one he is one of the worst base runners we have ever seen.
07:27I know, but this was just so beyond it.
07:29And it probably has gotten worse as his careers progress because – as he solidifies himself as that strobe goat,
07:37and he knows what he means to this city.
07:38He's probably got more confidence than ever, and he's making more literally dumbass base running decisions than ever.
07:43I'm serious.
07:44That is – that is a benching tomorrow.
07:47It's pretty bad.
07:48Like, if he gets out – like, this is – that's a benching tomorrow.
07:53We're in a playoff hunt, trying to.
07:55Get yourself back into a playoff hunt.
07:57And you just – there's no – there's nothing – nothing.
07:59Nothing says run.
08:00You decided before the pitch.
08:01Nothing says it's going to – nothing says run.
08:03That's what I'm saying.
08:04Like, I just – because the reason why I say this joke created an environment that there's no fear.
08:10Glenn, I – honest to God, I believe guys would do stuff under – under David Cully as their head
08:19coach
08:19that they wouldn't dare think of doing with D'Amico Reyes.
08:22Oh, no question.
08:22You know what I mean?
08:23Just because –
08:24Joe's a little closer to Cully, huh?
08:26That's what I'm saying.
08:27Like, I'm wondering – like, I'm wondering over there, would he flinch and think twice if A.J. was in
08:34the dugout?
08:35Would he flinch and think twice if Dusty – he's over there, he's like, man, come on.
08:39Man, I'd do whatever the hell I want to do.
08:41Like, I'll even put – he's below – he's done it before.
08:45But this was – this was beyond it.
08:48Like, this was – this was – this was just some stuff like, I just – I'm going to do
08:52this
08:52because I don't really respect the consequences.
08:56He said he was going.
08:58Bad decision, great result.
09:00Like, I'm telling you, you got some friends, Clint, that pulled the trigger on some things growing up
09:05because they didn't have Linda to go home to.
09:08You better believe it.
09:09That you're like, no, no, I ain't going to – you know what?
09:15I know as far as I can go here.
09:17I know this is as far as I can go here.
09:19You might try some stuff.
09:21Maybe you – maybe you – maybe you – there's some coaches that you would try some stuff on.
09:25I just – I wonder, does the spotter create a situation where people are like, I don't care.
09:30Because they – because they do way too many of this just dumb stuff.
09:35Because that was –
09:35Specifically on the base pass.
09:37That was beyond it.
09:38Like, I've seen – I've seen Jose try to go first to third where he's pushing the envelope,
09:42and there's no reason.
09:43I've seen –
09:44I've seen him –
09:45Those little legs just can't go there.
09:46I've seen him try to do this.
09:47There was – this was – there's nothing.
09:49Everything was right.
09:50Just, oh, Hoppy was drunk or something.
09:53I don't know.
09:53The Angels happened.
09:54It wasn't even a short hop.
09:56No, yeah, it was.
09:56The Angels happened.
09:59And I just –
10:00Troubles in the outfield flopping around.
10:02It's awesome.
10:03Because – because I don't think Dusty would be over at the top of the steps.
10:09Hey, hey, way to go.
10:10Ha, ha, ha.
10:13Why don't you grab a seat here, man?
10:16We'll give you – we'll give you one of those natural rest days.
10:19Yeah, man, you got to be kidding.
10:20I just –
10:24Text line coming in.
10:25So, Altuve has done that under Dusty.
10:27Look at it up.
10:28No, he's not done anything like that.
10:31He has not had game on the line.
10:33We're in extra innings.
10:34A pop-up damn near on the infield.
10:39To just take off and run.
10:40It's an infield fly.
10:42Yeah, there's nothing.
10:44To that point, Ron, that is the worst I've seen.
10:48I don't – I mean, I'm not going to sit here and tell you.
10:50I've seen every single one of them.
10:52But that is – that is the worst I've ever seen.
10:55Yeah, that was –
10:56That's not a lack – because, I mean, a lot of it may be a lack of focus
10:58getting picked off first or, you know, thinking you can stretch –
11:02I mean, that was – you're not stretching anything.
11:04I mean, you're not stretching something from, you know, in the moment.
11:07Hey, this – do I stay at second or do I go to third?
11:09I mean, this is – he walked back over there.
11:12I mean, he casually walked back over to third base
11:13and touched the bag before tagging up.
11:15He had plenty of time to think about it.
11:17I mean, my man tagged up on a damn near infield fly rule.
11:20I'm faded as hell right now.
11:22Like, he's over here.
11:22Like, he is – like, he is –
11:27Miles Straw or something.
11:28You could have went with Ricky.
11:29Jinx!
11:30You could have went with Ricky, man.
11:31No, I got to go with an Astro.
11:33Like, he's Miles Straw or something.
11:34Willie Tavares.
11:35Your boy Siri tried to –
11:39Again, Siri wouldn't have done that.
11:41Siri –
11:41He used to wear them chains?
11:42Siri would – Siri – Siri is beyond pushing the envelope.
11:45Siri – could you imagine?
11:47Siri wouldn't take anything serious.
11:49He would do whatever he wanted with Joe.
11:51Oh, yeah.
11:52Sirius.
11:54But Siri would not have tagged up.
11:59I just think he –
12:00Well, Siri don't have the staying power.
12:02There's not –
12:03You got to be a Hall of Famer to pull that off and get away with it.
12:06Okay.
12:06Anybody else in the third base coach may have tripped.
12:09Get back over here to third base.
