00:00Happy 6-10 day, H-Town.
00:04Celebrating another year as Houston's sports leader,
00:08Sports Radio 6-10 presents
00:12The Drive with Sterner and Kugli.
00:18Alright, welcome back in as we are live here on The Drive on this 6-10 day.
00:24We are going to do a little 6-10, a little tribute to 6-10 day right here.
00:33A little 6-10.
00:35Ruby on YouTube and Twitch says,
00:38No, Clint, Wimby's a punk ass.
00:39Ron, why you hating on Wimby?
00:41Go Spurs, go.
00:43Come on, he's a...
00:44Okay, let me not say that.
00:48No matter how many punk moves Wimby does,
00:51the way the New York Knicks fans act makes me root harder.
00:56I can see that with some people.
00:57Yeah, that was ridiculous out there in the crowd.
01:00Yeah, I don't know.
01:01We'll see.
01:02We'll see if he may have to curb some of this.
01:05Basically, the league stuff.
01:06Or maybe they'll just legit enjoy it.
01:09Alright, let's do this.
01:11You know, we'll set a clock.
01:13Give ourselves 10.
01:13We got 10 minutes.
01:14We got 10 minutes to get 6 burning thoughts here
01:19with your Houston Texans on 6-10 day.
01:25Alright, Clint.
01:25Here is the first one here.
01:28This is the year, Clint,
01:30that the honeymoon period will come to an end
01:33for one Will Anderson Jr.
01:36No chance.
01:38No chance.
01:39This is...
01:40It's easy, man.
01:41Will's got real J.J. Watt vibes.
01:44That honeymoon never ended.
01:46And they say no!
01:47Hell, I don't even know if it ended
01:48when he put on that Arizona Cardinals uniform.
01:50Be honest with you.
01:51So, I'm going to say no.
01:53I think Will's got a long runway.
01:56I think he's going to have a long honeymoon.
01:58And I think we're going to love him
01:59every step of the way.
02:00Yeah, this would be...
02:02If it did happen,
02:03this would be the setup of,
02:05hey, he just got paid.
02:07He's the highest paid player on the team,
02:09the highest paid non-quarterback in football.
02:12He's a $50 million man.
02:13So, with that, expectations go up on that.
02:17But, Will Anderson seems like the type of guy
02:20that's going to do what he has done
02:22all of his first three years.
02:24And that's improved every year.
02:26His numbers, and this, as you've talked about,
02:28is a numbers position,
02:29have improved every single year.
02:32So, I know the honeymoon seemed to end pretty fit with C.J.,
02:37but the quarterback position's a little bit different.
02:39I think Will will continue to meet the numbers
02:44that he has done and probably improve.
02:47So, I'm with you on that.
02:48Yeah, the honeymoon period will continue
02:50with one Will Anderson.
02:52All right, will this be the last season
02:55of Tank Dell in a Texas uniform?
02:59I think so.
03:00I think so.
03:01I think it's a long shot that he comes back
03:04and gets any kind of significant run this year.
03:06It's a contract year.
03:08I think you look at what they want to do offensively
03:12and what they want and require their receivers
03:14to do offensively.
03:16And I know it's always been that way,
03:17if we're being honest.
03:18But, you know, I think it's even more extreme right now
03:21with, boy, you better be able to block.
03:23You better be able to have a motion to the backfield
03:24and lead up in the A-gap on a safety
03:26that inserted himself into the box.
03:27And you better be able to block the edge
03:29and all that kind of jive.
03:30Whether you look at he's small
03:32and not able to do those things
03:34or you look at when he's been asked to do those things,
03:36he's been injured.
03:37Or you just look at the fact that, hey, man,
03:39it just, the injuries have taken a toll.
03:41I just, if I had to bet money on it right now,
03:44I think this is the last season
03:45that we see Tank Dell at Houston.
03:47Unfortunately, I agree, too.
03:48And he's such a fan favorite.
03:51And I think he's a favorite in the locker room.
03:54I think his teammates really like him.
03:56But, Clint, you just start to look at it.
03:58He gets, he would get paid.
04:00Let's say he has a good year.
04:01He would have to get paid.
04:04And they have seemingly drafted over him
04:08or at least drafted guys in his position,
04:11whether it be Higgins on the outside
04:14or Noel if they want inside.
04:16And those guys are much cheaper
04:18for the next couple of years.
04:19So I just think contract-wise,
04:22where he is,
04:23and they've already paid Nico,
04:26I don't think that they're ready to pay him again.
04:30So I've enjoyed Tank,
04:33and I hope he does come back
04:34and show us something more.
04:36But I'm with you.
04:38I think this is probably it for Tank Dell.
04:41All right, number three.
04:42Some, someone of importance will lose their job
04:45if the Texans miss the playoffs.
04:47Miss the playoffs?
04:48I think multiple people lose their job.
04:50You think multiple?
04:51Yeah.
04:51I mean, with this defense,
04:53if you miss the playoffs,
04:56I think one.
04:57Now, assuming that you don't miss the playoffs
04:59because you just got ravaged by injuries
05:01in your defense and what didn't end up being.
05:03But assuming your defense,
05:04say, somewhat healthy
05:05and you play good defense all year,
05:06if you miss the playoffs,
05:07it's because of your offense.
05:09And I think there's a chance
05:11Nick Cayley and C.J. Stroud.
05:14Do you think both of them?
05:15Yeah, and if Nick goes,
05:16I would think that they would just clean.
05:18At some point,
05:19they've got to quit blaming it
05:20on the one guy,
05:20the one guy that you just give the O.C. title to.
05:24And the guys around them
05:25have to be a part of it as well.
05:27But yeah, I think there's a chance
05:28that you lose multiple.
05:29Definitely, the answer is yes.
05:31Definitely, I think they lose one.
05:33They lose, you know,
05:34one person loses their job.
05:35I think there's multiple people
05:36if you lose.
05:37See, multiple.
05:37I didn't think about that.
05:38I think definitely one.
05:39I think if this team
05:42doesn't make the playoffs,
05:44I think it would be hard-pressed
05:46for them to then pay C.J. Stroud.
05:50I don't know that
05:51that's not the route I would go.
05:52And I'd definitely love to.
05:55It would be hard
05:57to think this year,
05:59big-time season,
06:00that they don't pay him.
06:02Right.
06:02And it's hard to see
06:04that the defense
06:05would be a reason
06:06that holds them back
06:07from not making it.
06:08Well, yeah,
06:08that's why I said,
06:10you know,
06:10if it were injuries,
06:11obviously,
06:12that's what would
06:13obviously hamper the defense.
06:15I mean,
06:15that may change the game
06:16a little bit,
06:17but I still think
06:17even if that's the case,
06:18I think somebody loses their job.
06:20You missed the playoffs this year.
06:22I think we're at
06:24offensively starting over again.
06:26Yep.
06:26All right.
06:28A little six in ten minutes.
06:30Will this,
06:31speaking of that Texans defense,
06:33will this Texans defense
06:34be better than they were
06:36in 2025?
06:38I'm going to say no.
06:40I think they're going to be
06:41very similar
06:42or maybe not as good.
06:44And I only say that
06:45because
06:47the one thing
06:48that we don't seem
06:49to take into consideration
06:50when we talk about this
06:51is how healthy they stayed.
06:54I think
06:55they would be
06:56I mean,
06:57they would be destined
06:59to win a Super Bowl
07:00if they stay as healthy
07:00as they did last year.
07:02Yeah.
07:02And so
07:03I'm going to say
07:04I don't think they fall off,
07:05but I mean,
07:06getting better,
07:06hell,
07:06you're already the best
07:07in the league.
07:08I don't think
07:10they get any better.
07:11They're already
07:12one of,
07:12if not the best.
07:13That's tough, man.
07:14You add McDonald,
07:15if he can play
07:16to that level,
07:16that strengthens
07:17that middle part.
07:20Reed Blankenship,
07:21I mean,
07:22their secondary
07:22is nasty.
07:24I think they're
07:26I don't think
07:27they're a drop-off.
07:28I still think
07:28they're a top-five
07:29defense easily,
07:31but
07:32they have lost
07:33some guys.
07:34They've added
07:36Blankenship
07:36and added McDonald,
07:37but
07:38they've lost
07:39some of those
07:41depth pieces
07:42behind
07:43like,
07:44you know,
07:44Will Anderson
07:45and Daniil Hunter
07:46and Barnett
07:47who was vital.
07:48He had five
07:48plus sacks
07:49last year
07:49the past
07:51couple years
07:51and,
07:52you know,
07:52Danico Autry
07:53who was a big
07:54piece
07:55in some
07:55other spots.
07:57EJ Speed,
07:57they've already
07:58lost.
07:58That's some
07:59more depth
07:59stuff there.
08:00So,
08:01I would say
08:02I think
08:02they're very
08:03close to this
08:03year,
08:03but I don't
08:04know if they
08:04take a step
08:05past
08:06this year.
08:07All right,
08:08CJ Stroud.
08:09CJ Stroud
08:10will have
08:11at least
08:12his second
08:13best season
08:13of his career
08:14in 2026.
08:16Golly,
08:17man,
08:17I hate
08:17this offense
08:18so much
08:18it's hard
08:19to even
08:19answer this
08:19question.
08:22I'm going
08:23to say
08:23yeah.
08:24I'm going
08:24to say
08:24yeah.
08:25I mean,
08:25obviously
08:26last year
08:26put that
08:26I mean,
08:27I know
08:27they won
08:27nine straight
08:28and I know
08:28he didn't
08:29turn the ball
08:29over the way
08:29they wanted
08:30him to,
08:30but that
08:31wasn't the
08:32caliber quarterback
08:33that he's
08:33capable of
08:34playing.
08:34I think
08:34you look at
08:34half of his
08:35second year
08:37picking shoes
08:38and cherry
08:38pick games.
08:39I think
08:39some of them
08:39were pretty
08:40damn good.
08:41I think
08:42things just
08:42went south
08:43with Bobby
08:44late in the
08:44season.
08:47So we're
08:47really just
08:48comparing it
08:48to this
08:48first year.
08:49Yeah,
08:49I would say
08:51CJ would
08:52really have
08:52to screw
08:53up this
08:53year for
08:54this to
08:55not be
08:55his second
08:55best season.
08:56Yeah.
08:57And again,
08:58he has not
08:59had a train
08:59wreck.
09:00No,
09:01that's what's
09:01hard to answer.
09:02That's the other
09:02part.
09:02He's not
09:02like,
09:03it's not
09:03like he's
09:03last year
09:04wasn't a
09:05train wreck
09:05as far as
09:06CJ goes.
09:06I mean,
09:06he just went
09:07from five
09:08interceptions
09:08to like 12.
09:09but that
09:10I mean,
09:10he ain't
09:10Eli or
09:12Baker or
09:12something like
09:13that.
09:13No,
09:14I definitely
09:15think he
09:17will.
09:17I don't
09:18know,
09:19and you've
09:19said this,
09:19I don't
09:20know if
09:20he is
09:20going to
09:21hit that
09:22first season.
09:23That was
09:24really,
09:25really hard
09:25to do
09:25in many
09:27ways,
09:27and I
09:27don't know
09:27if this
09:27offense
09:28will allow
09:28it.
09:29But I
09:29do think
09:30we'll see
09:31a better
09:32CJ and
09:33a more
09:33confident
09:33CJ in
09:34this
09:34offense,
09:35and I
09:36think he'll
09:36be better
09:36than he has
09:37been the
09:37last couple
09:38of years.
09:38And again,
09:39he has
09:39not been
09:40bad except
09:41for the
09:41playoff,
09:42those two
09:42playoff games.
09:43He's not
09:43been bad
09:44the last
09:44couple of
09:45years.
09:45All right,
09:466-10,
09:47Clint,
09:47finally,
09:48this will
09:48be the
09:49best running
09:50game in
09:51the D'Amico
09:52Ryan's era
09:53this year.
09:56I'm going
09:57to say no.
09:58I think
09:59the Joe
10:00Mixon
10:00year,
10:01Joe was...
10:02Nobody else
10:03could run
10:03it but
10:04Joe.
10:04Yeah,
10:05I mean,
10:05it was Joe
10:06doing a lot
10:06of it on
10:06his own
10:07outside the
10:07scheme,
10:09but damn,
10:10he was good,
10:11man.
10:11So I'm
10:12going to say
10:13no.
10:17I'm going to
10:17say no.
10:18I'm going to
10:18go with Joe
10:18Mixon's second
10:19year.
10:19I don't
10:20think it's
10:20going to
10:20be...
10:21And I'm
10:21just saying,
10:22I guess,
10:23I think it's
10:23going to be
10:24more...
10:28Like,
10:28I think the
10:28group's going
10:29to be better.
10:29I just don't
10:30know if you
10:30got that
10:31dynamic dude
10:31like Joe
10:32that can
10:32make something
10:33out of
10:33nothing.
10:34Yeah,
10:35I'm going
10:35to say
10:35it will
10:36be better.
10:38I think
10:39the...
10:39One,
10:40I think
10:40they're
10:41probably
10:41better equipped
10:42up front
10:42to run
10:43the football
10:44than he is
10:45they've ever
10:46had in
10:46D'Amico's
10:47era.
10:47And I
10:48think the
10:49combination
10:49of the
10:50two,
10:51Woody and
10:53Montgomery
10:53is probably
10:55better than
10:56others.
10:57I don't
10:57think there
10:58ain't the
10:59drop-off
10:59that it
10:59was for
11:03Joe Mixon
11:04to Damian
11:05Pierce and
11:05whoever else
11:06came after
11:06him,
11:07I think is
11:07much better
11:08this year.
11:09So I
11:10think this
11:10actually will
11:11be,
11:11and they
11:12are,
11:13as we
11:13feel like
11:14they're going
11:14to be
11:14super
11:15committed,
11:16super
11:17committed to
11:17running the
11:18football in a
11:18way that
11:19they probably
11:19weren't even
11:20that year
11:20with Bobby
11:21Sloick.
11:21So I
11:22think this
11:22will be
11:23their best
11:25year when
11:25it comes to
11:26running the
11:27football.
11:27All right,
11:27that's a
11:28little,
11:28it's an
11:28honor of
11:296-10 day
11:30right here.
11:31That was a
11:31little 6 in
11:3210 minutes.
11:34We got it
11:34right under,
11:35I mean right
11:35underneath.
11:36Oh, did you
11:36have a timer
11:36going?
11:36I had a
11:37timer going.
11:37We got in
11:39there right
11:39under.
11:39I was trying
11:40to not be
11:40long-winded as
11:41I typically am.
11:41You did a good
11:41job.
11:43Probably
11:43practice that
11:43more often.
11:44go.
11:44know
