00:00A notorious murder conviction has caused a hate-filled firestorm outside a Texas courtroom
00:05after a jury found black teen Carmelo Anthony guilty of murdering white fellow high schooler
00:10Austin Metcalf. Antagonists on both sides of the Anthony and Metcalf rift squared off in
00:16screaming matches while a sitting congresswoman shared a cavalcade of inaccuracies about the case
00:21and strangely claimed on her podcast that she would have also stabbed the 17-year-old track
00:26star if she were in the same situation. If a 300-pound man is beating me, like on top of
00:33me
00:34and beating me down, I'm not limited to fist. What's been the public reaction to the Carmelo
00:40Anthony verdict and why is there so much tension outside the courtroom? Here's what you need to
00:45know. Hate-filled clashes focused on race erupted outside a courthouse on June 9th when black teen
00:51Carmelo Anthony was convicted of murdering fellow white high schooler Austin Metcalf. Anthony was
00:56found guilty of fatally stabbing the 17-year-old track star at a meet in April 2025 when he walked
01:03into a rival high school's tent before getting into an altercation with Metcalf which ended in the fatal
01:08stabbing. A jury in McKenney, Texas took just three hours to convict Anthony of murder after the teen
01:15claimed that he had acted in self-defense despite Metcalf being unarmed. The verdict sent shockwave
01:21through the crowd forming outside the Texas courtroom as Anthony's supporters broke down crying,
01:27dueled in screaming matches, and led to at least one Metcalf supporter getting arrested. Anthony's
01:32grandmother was also captured riling up the tense crowd when she cried racism from her luxury car
01:38after leaving court. One shocking clip from Nick Sorter on X captured Anthony's supporters
01:51allegedly suggesting Metcalf's twin brother Hunter should have also been killed during the heinous
01:56stabbing. And the strange takes continued even from afar. On her Clock It with Crockett podcast,
02:08lame duck rep Jasmine Crockett suggested that she too would have stabbed track star Austin Metcalf if she
02:15was put in the same situation. It's still a little bit of gray area because again, me as a five
02:22foot three
02:23woman, if a 300 pound man is beating me like on top of me and beating me down, I'm not
02:33limited to fist
02:34because I'm telling you right now, if you are twice my weight and got way more strength than me
02:40and you got me pinned down, I don't believe I'm going to survive. Contrary to Crockett's fact-free
02:46assertions, there was no beating. Metcalf was never on top of Anthony and Metcalf weighed nowhere near
02:52the formidable 300 pounds the congresswoman alleged. Later on in the unhinged podcast,
02:58the failed Senate candidate downplayed the size of the semi-serrated five-inch pocket knife.
03:04Anthony was convicted of plunging into Metcalf's chest, questioning if the size of the knife meant
03:09it could be considered a quote, deadly weapon. The blade was under the size of the knife, but it was
03:17unlawful for us. Was it a switch? I don't know what he had. It was like a, it seemed like
03:23it was a
03:23multi-tool, almost like a Swiss army. Yeah, like with the little scissors and everything and whatever.
03:30So it was small. Well, I would argue the size of it alone, you wouldn't even think it's a deadly
03:36weapon.
03:36Ex-users flooded posts sharing clips of Crockett's podcasts with comments pointing out her misstatements
03:42of even the simplest facts in the case. Why does it matter what he used to kill him? A rope
03:48isn't a
03:48deadly weapon until it's used to strangle someone. Like, how stupid can you be? Pretty sure Metcalf is
03:55dead, so it sounds like a deadly weapon to me. So she has twisted this story into something that did
04:00not happen. She's an absolute imbecile. She should have at least googled what happened before she opened
04:05her dumb mouth. Anthony is being housed in isolation, separated from other inmates following his
04:11conviction. The 19-year-old who was sentenced to 35 years in prison is being kept in a more secure
04:16area of Collin County Jail in Texas, away from the general inmate population, as authorities at the
04:23prison look to ensure the safety and security of all inmates, the representative told The Post.
04:29Anthony has filed a notice of appeal to challenge the murder conviction.
