00:00it feels like you have not seen what you were hoping to see.
00:05What did you expect to see?
00:06What did you expect?
00:07Because it does not seem like you were –
00:10I don't believe you come away from the first two days of mandatory minicamp
00:14feeling good about C.J. or the offense.
00:17Well, like I said yesterday, I don't feel good about the vibe I get
00:23watching this offense all the way through.
00:27Now it just – it starts and stops at the quarterback no matter where you're at.
00:31So we're going to talk about C.J. a lot.
00:33But it's – I just don't – I don't like the vibe of the offense.
00:38To me, Ron, when I watch it, you know, you've been part of something that's struggling.
00:46And it just seems like everybody is just waiting for –
00:52needing and wanting and waiting for something good to happen.
00:56That's the vibe I got today when I'm watching.
00:59I mean, Davis Mills completes a corner route down the sideline
01:02and you'd have thought he threw a touchdown to win game one, week one or something.
01:07I mean, it's one of those, like, this offense is at a spot
01:11where they need good things to happen so badly.
01:14And that's crazy to say in a damn mandatory minicamp.
01:18But D'Amico Rines needs his quarterback and needs his offensive play caller
01:24and needs this offense to have some damn good days, man.
01:28You know, just to have some –
01:30Everybody's saying they're having them.
01:32Yeah, I just – I mean, look, I'm not in the meeting room.
01:34I don't know.
01:35I'm just – I can just tell you from my vantage point,
01:39it doesn't look like that's what's going on.
01:43It looks like there's more bad body language.
01:46There's more, you know, what happened.
01:48There's more coaches involved.
01:51It looks to me more like there is a crawl before you walk still in year two type of deal.
01:58And there's got to be a crazy level of frustration with that.
02:01So, you know, we'll see.
02:03I just hope that this could – this is a very fragile –
02:07I think this is much more fragile than they've –
02:10the situation I'm talking about, the quarterback, the play caller, the offense,
02:14the fit, the, you know, the confidence hit that he took with last year's finish.
02:22I think it's just a very, very fragile situation with this offense right now.
02:29And so hopefully they can get through it.
02:31Hopefully training camp looks better.
02:32Hopefully with more time on task, as Nick Caley says,
02:37hopefully that, you know, that things get better.
02:41The reality of it is, though, you watch it.
02:43It just so sure enough don't sound like D'Amico's calling them dogs off.
02:48No.
02:49And, well, clearly I don't think he operates that way.
02:51Well, no, he's not.
02:51I mean, it's – I mean, like I told you, I mean, Jalen Petrie's timing up blitzes left
02:56and right out there now.
02:57He is –
02:59He is –
02:59Another day while I was out there too, though, Ron.
03:02I'm going to tell you, we talk a lot about Jalen.
03:04No, I think everybody out there gets the point that we believe Jalen Noel
03:07has got a real chance to be something special if they'll give him the opportunity.
03:10I'm going to tell you, there's something – I said it yesterday
03:12and it happened again today.
03:13There's something different about Cade Stover.
03:15I can't wait for you to see the Texans practice and tell me if I'm crazy.
03:21I fully –
03:21You're on him.
03:22I was with you of the thought of, like, the odd man out is going to be Cade Stover.
03:26Yeah.
03:27I mean, the heavy-footed kind of tweener.
03:29Are you going to – you know, last year the head coach was talking about,
03:31boy, you're really coming out of your routes at the top of your break.
03:34I'm thinking, what the hell?
03:35I mean, we're pros.
03:36Let's get beyond – like, he looks good, man.
03:40He's – I'll tell you this.
03:41From a twitch and speed and quickness perspective,
03:43he is significantly closer to Brevin Jordan than he is the rest of the group.
03:49It's that.
03:49Yeah, you said that.
03:50You said in and out of his breaks and his speed, his straight line speed,
03:54because he was looked at as, you know, the guy that could be an in-line tight end
04:01that maybe could be an above-average receiver.
04:05But you're saying –
04:06More of a wide tight end.
04:07I'm telling you.
04:08I'm anxious for you to get out there and see him and just tell me if I'm crazy.
04:11Watch them run routes, quarterbacks on air, and they're in and out of his breaks.
04:16Like, I don't ever remember – like, it's hard to believe that this guy is the same player
04:21that last year D'Amico Ryan was talking about, yeah, man, he's really coming out of the –
04:24coming out of his breaks.
04:25Coming in and out of his breaks.
04:26This guy's one that – not only is he doing that, you're – you look at it and you go,
04:31damn, that is impressive for a dude that's that size.
04:36So, we'll see, man.
04:37But he looked good again today.
04:38Jalen O looked good.
04:41And, you know, got a little – got a little Evan Brown at center with Keelan Rutledge at guard.
04:47Looks like they're going to rotate those guys through for a while.
04:49Let's see how long that interior offensive line rotation happens.
04:53Yeah, that's – yeah, that's fine.
04:57That's fine.
