00:01all right it is wednesday 4 40 b scott's in the building double duty today he uh had to get
00:07up
00:08early just tell the truth you you gotta be here at six you got the show starts at six what
00:13time
00:13you roll up here about 5 48 about 5 48 but i had the show planned all communicated did everything
00:21that i need to do i'm gonna be honest i did mean to get here at five but i dealt
00:25with some things
00:25in the morning but i was able to get here just with some just in time for when them lights
00:30went
00:30on yeah i didn't think you were three three thirty three you know uh four o'clock i got up
00:36at four
00:37or at least that was the plan i feel like being here i got up at four or at least
00:42that was the
00:42plan yeah i feel like ben being here like at three yeah just rolling ben rolls in about about five
00:49o'clock oh did he yeah about five o'clock that's normally when he rolls in a normal time to
00:53roll
00:53in is about five o'clock i think sean gets here around five o'clock that's the time i was
00:58trying
00:58to get here don't you feel like those kind of work hours you get old quick they age you quick
01:02not if you're living right you got it you just got to adjust your life you know now it's a
01:07whole lot
01:07now if you're watching all that damn baseball like i tried to do the previous night i could see that
01:11if
01:11it if it ages baseball again yeah yeah so i'm glad i don't do that every night i'd have to
01:16make some
01:16real decisions like i stuck with the game even though it was not competitive after the second inning just
01:20because i watched the astros but if i had to do that every night i wouldn't have done that i
01:24would
01:24have i would have definitely had to box score that thing all right i know you're gonna be up the
01:29game
01:29tonight and i i do want to get your thoughts on mandatory mini camp you've said that i've heard
01:35you talking to a lot of the people who spoke this week so i do want to get your thoughts
01:40on that but
01:41uh the the league announced today that no further action will be uh will be done to uh to victor
01:49women yama after he uh shoved yeah the back of the neck to the ground big face without on the
02:00big
02:00face of brunson and then turn and laughed at him um they did they did not upgrade that to a
02:06flagrant
02:06which would have given him his third which means he would be one away and i'm not one away it
02:12could
02:12be our nick wright talking about this on uh on his show yesterday it could be a bad it could
02:20be a
02:20closeout where his foot gets underneath him that's an accidental flagrant it could be a block shot if
02:25he came down hit him in the head that could be way more things are flagrant today than in the
02:29game
02:30that we grew up watching which which could have him suspended do you do you think the uh the league
02:35made the right decision with not upgrading that clear flagrant foul to a flagrant so you remember back
02:41when he did this thing to nize reed earlier in the playoffs and he didn't get suspended after that
02:46he was fine he was thrown out of the game but there was no further action after that i was
02:50actually
02:51okay with that i was like hey you guys he got thrown out the game there's the punishment there i
02:55don't
02:55need to be overly punitive or just giving punishment for the sake of punishment make myself feel tough
03:01you gotta hold that fine i'm good on that i was actually just fine with that this here is a
03:06different story because there was no whatsoever and at the very least i don't have to even be
03:12technical about it but it's a flagrant it's a technical it's something foul like it's something
03:16more than what it was and for them to not at least retroactively do that to me does give more
03:22life to
03:24the idea that they're protecting the superstar which i think we all know we're not naive we're not
03:27little kids here we understand that but i think they could have at least justified it with the
03:32nize reed thing when he actually did get ejected i don't know how you look at the tape of that
03:36and
03:36say yeah that's cool that's cool who else would they have let do that listen clinton i'll be can
03:41it can the answer be both can it be they got it wrong and they got it right yeah yeah
03:46no i mean i
03:47think any way you slice it they got it right i mean you can't you can't risk this series i
03:51mean
03:51you mean you lose i mean that is you can't risk not over that i i i the nize reed
03:56thing i think you
03:57could you could have penalized him to me you could have done anything where you wanted to and i and
04:00you get no
04:01pushback for me this one is this one is is different i mean i i mean it was disrespectful
04:06i don't know it was flagrant i mean it was it was for me personally and i'm sure by the
04:10rules
04:11yeah it is for sure i mean but just for me i just i mean but this is a league
04:16that does a two minute
04:18report and at least tries to be more so than other leagues tries to be more accountable for missed calls
04:23and they do retroactively go back and look at this type of stuff and they are very much a letter
04:28of
04:28the law i don't really like it i hate how it slows the game down i hate how it represents
04:32the game that
04:33every little thing we got to go to the monitor and see if it's a flagrant i don't like it
04:37but this
04:38would have been a flagrant in today in modern basketball you know 20 30 years ago it would
04:43have just been a show we would have moved on right but i feel like guys have gotten flagrant like
04:48you
04:48you were mentioning being in somebody's landing spot right like flagrant yeah guys get flagrant the
04:55one that uh the one that brunson got was it brunson or that's exactly right my wife looked at me
05:02and
05:02said what the hell did he do he gets three more he gets suspended yeah yeah so look i've seen
05:09guys get
05:10flagrants for a lot less and so it did surprise me that they didn't at least do that and to
05:15your point
05:16about like not messing up the whole star power thing of it he does have one more left and so
05:21you
05:21could have had your cake and ate it too like you could have gave him the flagrant now and then
05:26had
05:26some kind of stern conversation with him similar to how they did when he when he ghosted the media
05:30one time right like hey here's a warning look man we really need you to not pick up this next
05:35flagrant
05:35and then tell your refs hey um you know unless it's something like that again that's it let's try to
05:42let's try to look the other way and turn the other part it wasn't it wasn't like he did it
05:45to jordan
05:45clarkson but he did it to he did it to the other story yeah yeah well it's just so obvious
05:50and in
05:51broad daylight that's the that's the smallest guy on the court typically jalen brunson and wimby is
05:55arguably the you know one of the taller players we've ever seen what what's uh switching over to
06:00the texans i know you've been out at mandatory minicamp all week what's the what's the vibe the feel
06:05you get from this this group because domico seems to be really excited about his team like more as
06:14he's talked about this is the best otas we've had this is the furthest along we've had what's the
06:19vibe you get after being out there well they're really talking up the offense which i find interesting
06:23because there's not a lot to learn about and clink you correct me if you think i'm wrong on this
06:28but there's not a whole lot and i heard you breaking down some of what you saw in practice today
06:32and
06:32yesterday but there's not a whole lot to learn about this offense and how this offense is gonna
06:38either improve or regress until they actually get the the big boys out there to actually put on the
06:44pads just because that's like we're not talking about an air raid we're not even talking about the
06:48previous system that they were in yeah it's gonna require them to bow up in a way and on a
06:53level that
06:54they just have not done so in the past and so i i mean i do like seeing all of
06:58these guys together
06:59like you roll up on wyatt teller and roll up on keelan rutledge who is you know having to
07:04take his rookie learning curve right now in minicamp but that's a big sun gun obviously
07:09ariante ursury we already know what's going on so you see all these guys braiden smith
07:13big old boy put together now and so you're like man if these guys can just move a little bit
07:18we
07:18know so that these veterans that they brought in got the technique and all of those types of things
07:21they've been there and done that if they can still just move well enough yeah they are massive
07:26and we've seen their movies before we know what they do and then keelan rutledge that's the big
07:30question mark to kind of to your point the thing that i'm watching i'm most curious about and again
07:36they don't have the pads on they're not out there hitting but watching keelan rutledge sort of go
07:42through it a little bit and sort of figure it out now is the time because i think similar to
07:47you ron
07:48of like this guy needs to be your center right you can kind of move mountains to go get them
07:52i don't care how long it takes center is center is a let's just be real a need for you
07:58like jake
07:58andrews can go in there and do the job but you would like to get better at that position so
08:02he
08:02needs to work out and it's been interesting watching him not necessarily get the first first team reps
08:09but me at least has gotten more reps because he's getting first and second team reps right they know
08:14he needs the most practice and it seems like they are giving him that yeah they're you're spot on i
08:20mean
08:20there's this team whether we like it or not whether it works or not that this team is built to
08:26uh on
08:27the offensive side to first and foremost put the pads on and move the line of scrimmage and run the
08:31football and everything else is predicated off of that the ability to do that and so it's you know
08:36that's why i like it like i try to stick to the the communication piece the leadership piece that the
08:41the um you know who's standing out in in this in the um the skill offensive skill group and and
08:49who's
08:50being able to separate who looks good coming out in and out of their breaks by the way you've been
08:53out there what's your thoughts on caged over yeah man so for one the first thing he is all over
08:58him
08:58before i really noticed the body transformation that you talked about i was just thrown off by
09:04him wearing number eight this is why i didn't know who was well so he's wearing number eight and i
09:08joked
09:08around before i saw him running or doing anything i joked around one of the other media members and said
09:13caged over don't really give single digit number energy like i don't that don't really feel like his style
09:19right former boy work with his hands 87 fit right 87 felt like more like him so i was like
09:25what is he
09:25on what is this single digit stuff and then to your point i noticed some of the same things just
09:30moving
09:31i don't know about how close to brevin jordan i know you're seeing that but definitely moving better than
09:35he has in the past a guy that's been injured and i'm fixated on the tight end position right i'm
09:40not
09:40like trying to overly hype it or or like oversell it or anything but i'm just intrigued by it because
09:46they just didn't have no tight ends by the time of it and now like brevin jordan is out there
09:51fingers
09:52crossed fingers crossed two years in a row catastrophic injuries he looks good so fingers
09:56crossed he's a factor k stover looks more fleet of foot he could be a factor there was one play
10:02they
10:02ran where i'm like man back in the day this would have been a jumbo package but they got k
10:07stover and
10:08and brevin jordan lined up next to each other for a run play yeah i'm like well what time is
10:13it like
10:13what we doing now we actually running tight end sets instead of having a not go out there and put
10:18a six offensive lineman out there to really road grade but just to survive to hold on for dear life
10:24so i'm hoping that that's a lot different that's one of the things that stood out to me i do
10:27want to
10:27point out too speaking of tight ends something that dalton schultz said at the end of his press
10:32conference yesterday that stood out to me was like this whole thing about the i asked him about
10:37the offensive line what's different or you know what's different about going you know being around
10:40these guys versus in previous years and he kind of gave the other end of the whole will anderson is
10:45wrecking practice thing like they had in the first week they're pulling back the offensive lineman
10:50saying you don't got to get to the next level like that you don't got to go try to clear
10:54safety like
10:54that and if that's true i've always said that i would like to see i'm ready for the offensive line
11:00and the offense in general to mimic the energy that you get from the defense like they like the whole
11:05the the the catchphrase swarm whatever like okay let's do that on offense where is that at and we
11:10haven't seen it the way they talking at least is that they might have it on offense ready for will
11:14to
11:14grow up
11:17he knows one speed man no he doesn't no he's lying no he's on the sideline or i'm i'm coming
11:24for your head
