In this video, we finally got around to replacing one of the worn-out, rusty blinds in our bathroom. We went with new 25mm aluminum Venetian blinds from Blinds Online (Tuiss), and I’ve captured the whole process for you.

It’s a straightforward update, and you can watch Luke take down the old blind by using pliers to release the top clips, followed by installing the fresh new blind. We also made sure to put the cord safety coils in place—this is definitely a must-do for us with kids running around the house. It’s a simple, practical change that really makes a difference!

00:00Okay so there are these Venetian blinds and we don't know for sure how old they
00:04are but very high likelihood that they have been here since this building was
00:08first built which is now over 30 years old and it's showing with the amount of
00:13rust that is occurring in the blinds. We've tried cleaning them for a while but it's
00:16gone to the point where probably easiest just to replace them. So these are 25
00:21millimeter thick aluminium Venetian blinds. So I went to a site called
00:27Blinds Online and they have quite a big variety of Venetian blinds there. The ones we've got
00:31were from Tuiss, T-U-I-S-S is the name of the company and they're very good you just
00:36give your, you do your own measurements, you give the width, you give the drop you
00:41want, you send in an order and they can quite quickly like I can't remember
00:46exactly how long but it's perhaps about a week and a half, ten days. So I need to
00:51take off the old blind first. Now blinds are either attached up at the top or at
00:56the sides. Ours are attached up at the top. So there are two clips on each side so
01:01just using this pair of pliers because they probably haven't been moved for a long time.
01:05Just move that out. Move this out here.
01:18There we go. And then it should be just a twisting motion, twist it at the back.
01:30And there we go. Here's the old blinds that are off. Now the new blind came with its own rotating
01:36rod but I actually prefer the shorter
01:38lot of the old ones. So I'll actually take this off and set it aside and use it
01:43again. Now the new blind obviously you'll need, no sorry the old blind I mean,
01:47obviously you need to dispose of therapy for the cords especially children around. Now
01:54here's the new blind which I've previously measured.
02:16So these are the attachments to the ceiling but we already have those so we don't need those.
02:28the box down. So voila, here's the blind, just need to make sure the cord's in the right,
02:47right area. And the um, the rod actually goes on the opposite side this time but that's fine.
02:58So I'll actually just hook that on now.
03:03Put the old rod
03:08there, there we go. Now the key is, is that
03:16with the two attachments at the top you need to hook the front part in first.
03:22So you put it in like this, rotate it so it hooks on and then push that up against the
03:27back
03:28and then you flick the hooks to connect at the back and then that should hold snug in place.
03:39Now position it in an area where you're happy with the width, so about here.
03:46So it's going to take a little bit of fussing around, so hook it up that front.
03:55Hopefully that's it, I'll see shortly.
03:59So click that into place.
04:02Click that into place, gently let go see if it's holding.
04:07Yep, that seems to be it. So I'll give it a dental test.
04:21There you go, voila, new blinds.
04:27Open,
04:30close them,
04:35pull them up again.
04:42And then before we do anything further,
04:45most important thing with children in the house, or even if you don't have children in the house,
04:49just in case children are visiting, is to put a safety loop, which I'll take off the old one here,
04:57a safe loop at the end, so it's nice and high outreach at children.
05:00So there you go, easy to install, blinds.
