00:00Hi I'm here today to show you how to clean your dishwasher filter which we've
00:05had this Miele dishwasher now for over nine years and although we have done
00:09cleaning cycles on a few occasions using descalers and fresheners we've
00:16realized recently that we've never actually cleaned the filter which is
00:18something that you recommended to do every one to two months to help reduce
00:22bacterial build up as well as odors within your dishwasher so that's a
00:27fairly simple process obviously open your dishwasher then slide out the bottom
00:36drawer
00:41now every dishwasher will obviously be a little bit different but they all have a
00:46filter at the bottom here this is our filter now we need to unlock
00:54and lift up and you can see yuck actually to be 100% honest given it hasn't been cleaned for
01:02nine years that's actually perhaps
01:03slightly not as bad as I feared put that aside for a second and I can see there's some objects
01:13in here
01:13some broken glass as well as some build-up
01:24okay take out the filter now
01:35and then the filter
01:43let's under hot some hot water
01:47you can see all that build up there
01:52look at that stuff that just fell out
01:59disgusting
02:06and then it's advised to leave it soaking in some hot water and vinegar
02:13for 20 minutes before you give it a scrub
02:19start for a second
02:20gonna fill up this with some hot water
02:24add a generous slice of vinegar to it
02:26add a generous slice of vinegar to it
02:28add a generous slice of vinegar to it
02:51and then the holes are quite big enough to fit the entire apparatus but
02:55I'll angle it in a way so the actual filter is soaking
03:01move it in there to soak for 20 minutes
03:26okay it's been 20 minutes now
03:29some time to take it out of the
03:33vinegar solution
03:35does look a little bit cleaner but there's still obviously some work to do
03:39so it's recommended to use a toothbrush
03:44I've got a spare toothbrush here
03:46obviously not one that I'm pretending to use afterwards
03:51and I'm just meant to give it a scrub
03:54the wire a scrub
03:55so it is important
03:57not to scrub the mesh too harshly
04:00otherwise you could actually damage too much
04:10so
04:10i'm going to make sure that you can get it
04:30it's not
04:31so
04:32it's not
04:32you
04:32it's not
04:32it's not
04:48Okay, now time to put the filter back in the dishwasher.
05:04Lock it back into place and then once that is done it is recommended that you do a
05:11generalised clean and descaling wash.
05:16So I've got this solution here, this is Skylux Plus, which we have used before.
05:23Just open it up, I have a little bit slippery here, actually I might need scissors I think.
05:33Here we go. Open it up, fill the detergent compartment until it's full and then it's
05:46recommended to sprinkle the rest across the floor of the dishwasher.
05:57Okay, there we go. Set it to an intensive wash. There we go. By the end of that cycle we
06:12should
06:12have crystal cleaning inside of the dishwasher.
06:27And here we go, a dishwasher that has been freshly cleaned and cleaning the filter.
06:32Okay.
06:33Right.
06:41Okay.
06:43Okay.
06:44Okay, now we're going to show you the bathroom.
06:44So that's the bathroom.
