00:00all right i wanted to read this from carl carl's and others are really uh i guess upset to a
00:09certain degree with some of the constructive critique and constructive criticism of jayden
00:17daniels but i read something from garth yesterday he had a problem with the jd5 conversation and
00:24carl does as well she and you're way too harsh on jayden daniels i thought he was your boy
00:32leave him alone he's been great and you're hung up on two plays get over it
00:42yeah i'm not hung up on two plays uh like exclusively i'm hung up on two plays simultaneously
00:51with recognition of how good jayden daniels has played i don't know why sometimes some of you
01:00especially on social media have a difficult time multitasking like two things can be discussed at
01:09the same time two things can be true at this at the same time jayden daniels has played great football
01:16the last two weeks after coming back um off the injury and with the brace fitted he's played
01:24excellent football he has given them a chance more than any other player on the team to win
01:31last week against the giants and to win on monday night against the 49ers in his last start prior to
01:39the giant game he would have had he stayed on the field been responsible for either beating the
01:47cowboys being the most responsible player on the field or perhaps losing a close one or tying the
01:53cowboys who knows how that game would have ended up in week two they had a chance in the opener
01:59against
02:00the philadelphia because of how great he was in the fourth quarter both things are true people
02:08jayden daniels has played incredible football he's an elite level talent he's gonna get paid
02:15okay there's no conversation on my end that says oh big decision to make big decision to make on him
02:23maybe just maybe you could move him for a lot anybody that talks about jayden daniels in terms of
02:31moving him as in trading him like you need your heads examined have you watched the nfl for any
02:40period of time it's him it's nearly impossible to come across somebody with his level of talent at the
02:48most important position on the field they got it they drafted it we've already seen it we saw it for
02:55an entire season in 2024 unfortunately we didn't have a chance to see it in 2025 because he wasn't
03:02healthy and only played in four complete football games start to finish and in 2026 he has played at
03:10a very high level in the three and a half games that he's played in like what what do you
03:16need to see
03:16look it's reasonable to say i'm concerned about availability yep baltimore is concerned about
03:25availability lamar got paid cincinnati's concerned about joe burrow joe burrow got paid we've seen
03:32quarterbacks have injury issues and availability issues but for the year that he misses too many games
03:40you'll get hopefully two years in which he plays the mass majority of games yeah give me those two
03:47years out of three but the idea that you can't like because he's so good and he's playing at such
03:58a high
03:58level you can't also be constructively critical is just weak it's small market stuff jayden daniels
04:09has back-to-back games in which he had mind-boggling in-game errors that if you just ignore and
04:19it's
04:21not going to happen again he's not going to let that happen again they're not going to let it happen
04:24again i think you're missing something there was an obliviousness to both of those situations that we
04:32never seen before we didn't see in 2024 we didn't see in a very very small sample size of games
04:40in 2025
04:42and yet we've seen two of certainly an all-time error now again i don't put it all on him
04:51in the
04:51giant game let me be clear i still put most of it on dan quinn i don't know why you'd
04:57want to run a play
04:58it makes no sense to me why you'd want to run a play in that spot uh that was the
05:04root cause of
05:05what followed the chaos that followed uh had only the opportunity to develop because of dan quinn's
05:13decision to let's go get a few more yards and david blouse decision well let's call a really long
05:20developing play with a long snap count with some pre-snap motion but jayden was oblivious
05:27to the scenario he's got to be able to say you guys don't know what you're doing i got it
05:32he's
05:33the eraser elite quarterbacks erase mistakes made by teammates and coaches sometimes and not only did
05:41he not erase it he looked completely bamboozled at the end by why everybody was wanting him to hurry up
05:52and then you get a fourth and two and basically any football fan of three or more years let's call
05:59it five or more years a half decade or more knows that on fourth and two you can't throw it
06:05into the
06:05crowd doesn't matter a flag on the field that's irrelevant totally irrelevant
06:12both things are true he's playing at a ridiculously high level because he's ridiculously gifted and
06:21talented and the guy that i want to be the quarterback here for the next 10 to 15 years
06:28the guy that i'm not going to have any issue at all paying in 2027 60 plus million a year
06:39you just aren't you're not going to i mean if you want to go the route of just picking up
06:43the fifth
06:43year option okay you can do that you know houston did that with cj strout it'll end up costing you
06:51more in the long run but if you think you're going to need to see more and we're projecting here
06:56because
06:56there are 11 more football games this year and it may be a no-brainer for them for everybody by
07:02the
07:02time we get there if he plays in all 11 and if they go seven and four eight and three
07:07the rest of the
07:07way and they host a home playoff game if i mean i'm not saying that's probable i'm just saying if
07:14but even if he plays in all 11 he plays at a high level and they go seven nine and
07:19one or eight eight
07:20and one but don't win the division you're going to pay him you want to see this level of play
07:26which
07:26you know you're going to get you're going to get more often than not outstanding play you're going to
07:31get some misses too steve suitor and his film breakdown and i talked to jay gruden this morning for my
07:37podcast jay jay talked about some of the things he missed he said on that fourth and three you've got
07:42to throw it to antonio williams that's the play design you know they got they got the bunch on
07:47that left side against zone coverage and that's easy pitch and catch and he doesn't know why he
07:53didn't look at it but you're going to get that with young quarterbacks you're going to get that with a
07:57young quarterback in right now a new scheme a new system with a first-time offensive coordinator
08:04there are a lot of reasons it's not perfect start to finish right now and one of those reasons has
08:11to be blau
08:14he is so good it's the number one reason if you're just a football fan to watch washington week in
08:23and
08:24week out but at the same time i mean we can be grown-ups and talk about two inexplicably
08:33mind-boggling mental errors in back-to-back games one of which is all-time memorable
08:42and the other one certainly will be memorable for our fans quarterbacks get scrutinized man they get
08:51picked they get nitpicked you know and the things as fans that we actually have a chance of being
08:59right about aren't the things where we say well why didn't he throw it here well you know because
09:05that's not where he was supposed to throw it why did he throw it in triple coverage well because the
09:09receiver we don't have enough information for that stuff but we do have enough information to know
09:15that when you snap the ball with 13 seconds left and you have no timeouts left in a tie game
09:21in your
09:21infield goal range you cannot take a sack you cannot fall to the ground and then just lie there for
09:29two
09:29seconds you have to know what the hell's going on as a quarterback we know enough to know on fourth
09:39and
09:40two you got to at least just loft it into the end zone and hope you get a flag a
09:44defensive penalty or
09:45somebody makes a ridiculous catch you can't throw it into the crowd and then look completely bewildered
09:53when fred warner's laughing at you that you just turn the ball over on downs willingly
10:01both things can be discussed come on um it's look in some ways i'd rather be discussing
10:14or critiquing something like this and being critical of something like this versus wow he just keeps
10:24throwing picks or wow he keeps missing deep balls or wow you know he keeps you know he won't slide
10:31he
10:31keeps getting hit all of that part of it that's all that all looks great guy doesn't turn the ball
10:38over
10:38the guy sees it most of the time the guy is protecting himself as a runner he is one badass
10:46competitor that
10:47was a great defensive team they faced the other night and they're down 23 to 3 and he's delivering
10:54dimes over and over again touchdown pass to digs was such a difficult throw incredible throw you
11:01know seeing rashad white throwing that ball to burks that was a good throw to burks maybe a tad late
11:06certainly catchable i mean they had it did anybody watching that game when they got the ball back
11:13down six on two different occasions think that there was no chance not me i thought they were going to
11:19go take the lead my only question was after they took the lead would the defense be able to get
11:24one
11:24more stop but at the same time there appears to be you know a piece missing from the overall package
11:35i mean there's no other conclusion you can come to because of the level of error the simpleness of the
11:44situation the simplicity of you know the football situation situational awareness uh in both of those
11:52spots like these weren't difficult ones you know this wasn't you know do i spike it or do we try
12:00to
12:00one one more play and meet get a quick out and get it get the ball out of bounds for
12:04a few it this was
12:05basic 101 stuff he's got to know and it brings up the question as we've talked about this week
12:11why haven't we seen that before was it cliff was cliff hand-holding through 2024 and through the
12:20few games he played in last year was cliff just all over it as a situational awareness
12:27offensive coordinator where he's in his ear telling him specifically fourth down can't throw it away
12:32give yourself a shot even if the play isn't there you know if it's not there you gotta you gotta
12:37extend
12:37extend you gotta make something happen you know if against the giants look if if the if it's not
12:43there if bates isn't there sail it over his head we're kicking the field goal
12:49or maybe somebody else that guy dave gardie who was in the um booth for some of the quinn help
12:57on some of
12:57that stuff it's okay people in my opinion to say how great he is on one hand but to also
13:05say
13:06yeah but there are these two plays that are a bit concerning
