00:00I just can't believe we have to go through 17 games of this nonsense.
00:04Are you kidding me?
00:05Well, we are.
00:07I don't see any changes at quarterback before the season, do you?
00:11Oh, no.
00:12What is the change that's even viable?
00:14I don't.
00:14That's the point.
00:15I don't think there is one.
00:17Jimmy is somewhere, somewhere right now,
00:20just salivating over the fact that he's finally going to be in position to get A. Manning.
00:26Doesn't matter which one.
00:28Just give me the last name.
00:30Bring Eli in.
00:32He would.
00:32Eli might have game.
00:34Run my football operations, Eli.
00:36Save me from myself.
00:38Do something there.
00:39Well, Munkin is, Todd Munkin is coaching what he has.
00:43He doesn't have a choice.
00:45These are your guys that you get to deal with and you get to work with.
00:49And perhaps you coach one of them up and be, you know,
00:53if Shadour became a really good NFL quarterback, well, great.
00:56That would be wonderful.
00:58And same thing with Green or same thing with Dillon.
01:01And if he can get Deshaun Watson back to possible, you know, level of Deshaun Watson and Houston,
01:08great, whatever it is.
01:10But this is what he has to deal with.
01:13And Shadour, obviously, is the guy that gets all the attention and made $17 million in jersey sales.
01:22The NFLPA cut him a big check.
01:23He made all kinds of cash.
01:25There's a lot there.
01:27And a lot of that includes his dad.
01:30And that's Deion Sanders.
01:33And Deion said something a couple weeks ago about, you know, I can't wait to talk to Coach Munkin.
01:38I'm going to go there and tell him how to get the most out of Shadour as a coach, not
01:42as a dad.
01:43Yeah, right.
01:44As a coach out of a dad, I can talk to him.
01:47And Munkin was asked about that comment.
01:50And I found his thoughts kind of interesting.
01:54Here's what he had to say.
01:55Got a lot of respect for Coach Sanders, obviously, as a player, but also what he's done as a coach.
02:01And obviously, he's done a great job with Shadour as a father.
02:05I'm open any time he wants to meet.
02:07He said he was going to come, but he had a commercial.
02:09So if he just lets me know where the next commercial shoot is, I'll be there.
02:13I'll show up.
02:13I really am looking forward to it.
02:15I got a ton of respect for him.
02:17I got a ton of respect for Shadour because all he's done since I've been here is work.
02:21That's all he's done is compete.
02:23He was here early in the offseason.
02:25Hell, he bought me a horse head.
02:27I mean, tried to, you know, cheese up to me early.
02:30So I think which is really cool.
02:31I think it's been great.
02:33Affleck.
02:37Where's that turquoise jersey or sport coat?
02:41You and Nick put those on there, Dion.
02:43Oh, boy.
02:44I cracked up when I heard Todd say, he tried to cheese up to me early.
02:50That's great.
02:51Tried to kiss my butt.
02:52That's great.
02:54Do you think Andrew Barry, when he sees Todd every single morning, he's like, hey, good
02:59morning, Todd.
02:59I'm so sorry.
03:01I think he apologizes every day for giving him what he has at quarterback.
03:07Like, how is any coach supposed to consistently win with this at quarterback?
03:14Whatever this is at quarterback.
03:16He's got to say all these nice things about all these guys.
03:20He's got to build them up.
03:22He's got to instill confidence in them.
03:24But when he, this is the thing, Jeff.
03:27You know this.
03:28Players know.
03:29Coaches know.
03:31They do.
03:32And if you're not good enough, they know.
03:35They know.
03:36Immediately.
03:37Yep.
03:37And he's got to say what he's got to say.
03:39But Todd Munkin, he has been around some really good quarterbacks.
03:43He's been in some really good offenses.
03:46And he's got to be looking at this like, are you bleeping kidding me?
03:50You know, the thing, if I'm, if I'm Todd, I, my biggest concern might be this.
03:58Okay.
03:59You traded miles.
04:01That's fine.
04:02You brought in draft capital that we can use to perhaps go get a quarterback in 2027.
04:08Do you expect me to make chicken liver out of this?
04:12Yeah.
04:13Because if you do, maybe we can, maybe we can't.
04:16Am I going to get a second year here?
04:19Because this is what you gave me.
04:21Hey, I, I, I'm sure he's, I would think he's not thinking that way because he's getting
04:27an opportunity to be an NFL head coach and he's worked his entire career for that.
04:31But the, the situation that he's been dropped into here, Chris, and then, hey, your best wide
04:37receivers are rookies.
04:38Yeah.
04:39You know?
04:39Yeah.
04:39Good luck to you.
04:41Yeah.
04:41I, this guy, without question, you, you've got to give him.
04:46Two or three years.
04:48The evaluation.
04:48Without even thinking about it.
04:50The evaluation of him has to be these individual wins.
04:54Yes.
04:55It can't be what does the final score say.
04:58Yeah.
04:59Can't be because this team's not ready to be evaluated by the final score.
05:03Well, and the other thing that I would say is this, Jeff, um, I don't know what should
05:08do where Sanders is going to be in the future.
05:10Okay.
05:11But, but if a smart football coach decides, and this isn't to say that the Browns are
05:17smart and they do the right things and they make the right decisions, but if a smart football
05:23coach decides, no, not Shador, I got to go with Deshaun.
05:30I got to try and win games.
05:32I got to try and appease these guys in the locker room.
05:35I got to do right by them.
05:36Whatever the case may be.
05:37See that, you just, what you just said is critical.
05:40He's a first year head coach.
05:42Yeah.
05:43He, he can't, he can't roll out the guy.
05:46No.
05:46Whoever it is.
05:47Right.
05:48Whoever it is.
05:49Who clearly has shown the team that he's not the best quarterback.
05:54That's right.
05:55So if he chooses that it's Deshaun and a lot of things are pointing to it being Deshaun
06:01week one, what does that say about Shador?
06:05What does it say about his future?
06:07Yeah.
06:08Deshaun is quite possibly the worst starting quarterback in the NFL.
06:13Quite possible.
06:13If, if you look at all the rankings of quarterback position groups in the NFL, the Browns are 32.
06:18And if Shador can't beat him out and can't show Todd, Hey, I got to get this job.
06:26I deserve this job.
06:28What does that say about Shador?
06:30I'm pulling for him like crazy because that's, it's a better scenario than having the veteran
06:36who is underachieved since he's been here for whatever reasons in the last year of his
06:41contract.
06:42I mean, Chris, if Deshaun actually, let's just say Deshaun gets this gig and goes out
06:50and is okay, just okay.
06:53Okay.
06:54Competent.
06:54Let's just say competent.
06:55Okay.
06:57There's no way I want to give him another contract.
06:59No.
06:59You want to, you want to, I would want to move on from this situation.
07:03Absolutely.
07:04And if he's just competent, there might be the temptation.
07:09Well, okay, we, we kind of have a quarterback maybe.
07:13And that's, that's why it would be so, I think it would be the best case scenario for
07:21Todd Munkin.
07:23If Shador just went out and just beat him out, just flat out beat him out.
07:26Yeah.
07:27But that's on Shador.
07:28Yeah, I know.
07:28That's exactly right.
07:29Shador's got to go out and do it.
07:30Absolutely.
07:31Well, Mary Kay Cabot, your counterpart was on the morning show today and had this to
07:37say about what Shador is doing so far in OTAs.
07:40I think Shador has come on so strong in the last few weeks that it's making them think,
07:46hmm, maybe we should see what he can do in training camp before we decide that perhaps
07:53Deshaun Watson might be QB one on the depth chart.
07:57I think he's just worked so hard and done such a nice job and maybe even surprised them
08:02in some ways that I think they're, they're kind of backing off that a bit.
08:07Which might be ideal.
08:09That's what you want to hear.
08:10Yep.
08:11Second year player was a disaster as a rookie.
08:15Yeah.
08:16And he has, he has a huge fan following and that's great.
08:20That's great.
08:20You know, congratulations to him and anybody who, who has this undying love for Shador,
08:27good for you too.
08:28Yeah.
08:28I mean, it's, it's great to root for guys and everything else.
08:31Wrist up guys.
08:35But again, ideally you want him to go out and be the man.
08:40I just, I saw Dylan last year and I thought, wow, Dylan really looks like he can play quarterback,
08:47but he's five foot 10.
08:48That's not ideal.
08:49And then Shador went out and it was like, wow, that was really pretty good.
08:53Well, that was really pretty bad.
08:56That's not bad.
08:57Oh, that is bad.
08:58Yeah.
08:58It was just, he was so inconsistent.
09:00Yes.
09:01The, the ratings and you know, all the, all the analytics.
09:04Yes.
09:05Let's not get Kenny Atkinson in trouble.
09:06All the analytics show that he did not play very well.
09:10Yeah.
09:10Because there's a couple of realities, right?
09:12The one reality is you, you naturally compare him to what else is on the roster.
09:18Yeah.
09:19Okay.
09:19Okay.
09:19You naturally do.
09:21Are you better than Dylan Gabriel?
09:23Woo hoo.
09:23Big accomplishment there.
09:25Well, but guess what?
09:27All the ratings said he wasn't.
09:29So there's the other reality.
09:31Yeah.
09:31That is attached to this.
09:33Like how good are you compared to your peers?
09:37How good are you compared to what's that quarterback around the NFL?
09:42That's the, that's the tough one.
09:44And that's the one where he came up woefully short.
09:47Yeah.
09:49So he's got to get better.
09:50And I think it's encouraging that Mary Kay says, Hey, he's coming on.
09:54Hey, he's doing the things that he needs to do.
09:57That's what you want to hear from a young guy.
09:59Absolutely.
09:59Absolutely.
09:59It is.
10:00Let's figure out why I wasn't good last year.
10:03Let's look at those flaws.
10:05See how I can address them.
10:07See how I can improve.
10:08Let's see what I can learn.
10:09If anything from Deshaun Watson, see what I can learn.
10:13If anything from Todd Munkin in this new situation and get better and put
10:18pressure on this organization and do it.
10:21Not based on what your name is, not based on your draft standing,
10:25not based on the fact that it's default because the other guy's five foot
10:2810 and can't ride roller coasters at Cedar point.
10:31Like let's, let's just do it based on merit.
10:35Harsh.
10:35Let's try and win the job.
10:37And I like that.
10:38Harsh.
10:39I do too.
10:40I mean, it's true, right?
10:41I do too.
10:42You know, when a guy's listed at five, 10, what is he?
10:45Five, eight.
10:46And three quarters.
