00:00So, previously, Todd Monk and his poo-pooed what this game means to him on Sunday.
00:06Ah, sure, I work there, I have admiration, and, you know, but that's where it stops.
00:12It's a divisional game.
00:13Well, Derrick Henry, pretty good.
00:15Pretty good at football.
00:16I'm sure if you're aware of this.
00:18Pretty good.
00:19Well, he said what might be the truth here.
00:21I mean, he might not say it in the media, but to the T, he definitely talked a lot of
00:24trash
00:25and let him know, you know, he wants to beat us.
00:28But, I mean, that's just how it goes.
00:31It's going to be, like I said, a four-part battle.
00:34He's got them rolling over there.
00:35We've got to finish off this week right to be prepared for him.
00:37Minor critique here.
00:39If Todd Monk and wants this win, I would have loved to hear it this week.
00:42I would have, too.
00:42He's like, oh, yeah, he's definitely talking trash.
00:45I'm like, well, he should have told us the trash talk.
00:47Yeah.
00:47But now is the time to do it.
00:48We could give the Ravens more bulletin board material.
00:51Come on, it's the NFL.
00:52They all want to win every week regardless.
00:53Like, just tell us what the T is.
00:55Also, you can't do the I don't want to give you bulletin board material if then you're saying it directly
01:01to their face.
01:02Right?
01:03Like, they might, if you say to the Cleveland media, hey, they were going to fire me or they did
01:08fire me and then I just got this job.
01:10But so I somehow got an upgrade despite being fired in Baltimore.
01:14But yeah, yeah, I'm a little smartened by that.
01:17Or honestly, we just said, I was there for three years.
01:19I know those guys.
01:20I want to beat them.
01:21Any of that.
01:22That's good, too.
01:22They also might just miss that in the media.
01:24If you're texting them, I want to whoop your ass.
01:28You're mainlining the bulletin board material for them.
01:31If that's a thing, you did the worst thing, the worst way you could do it.
01:34Oh, no, I thought Derrick Henry was talking about, like, Browns players.
01:37He was talking trash to Browns players, not necessarily like he's, like, texting Ravens people and being like, I'm going
01:41to beat you.
01:42We got you.
01:43Oh, I took it that complete different way.
01:45Can we do that one more time, then?
01:46Because, I mean, I had a complaint.
01:47If that's the case, it's a different convo.
01:49So I do want to hear it one more time.
01:50I mean, he might not say that in the media, but to the team, he's definitely talking a lot of
01:54trash and letting them know, you know, he wants to beat us.
01:57Which team?
01:58That's just how it goes.
02:00What do you mean, which team?
02:01Which team?
02:01I thought he was talking about, he was texting Derrick Henry.
02:04He was texting Zay Flowers.
02:05What?
02:05Yeah.
02:06Eat a steaming pile.
02:08Is it the team?
02:10Am I taking crazy pills now?
02:12Am I the one that's?
02:12No.
02:13So when I go to Mark Kotch, it's because he's like a referee, okay?
02:16Yeah.
02:16Yeah, we need somebody else, an impartial.
02:18He's not impartial, though.
02:20He's pro-Peterland, despite you trying to get him off this show.
02:23He's pro-Peterland.
02:25I don't think that's been established yet, but I do.
02:27It's a good development.
02:28The streets are saying.
02:29The streets are saying.
02:29That's true, right?
02:31That you're trying to give him the old Ken Carman to John whatever his name is.
02:35I'm not trying to do any of that.
02:36I don't learn their producers' names anymore.
02:37Is that right?
02:38Yeah.
02:38And then they just turn over so often.
02:40Why bother?
02:40They broke my heart with Double A.
02:41That's right.
02:41I just can't do it anymore.
02:43Not since Double A do I take the time.
02:44Yeah.
02:45One guy, I remember Rich.
02:47Yeah, I think that was his name.
02:48Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:49Might have been.
02:50All right.
02:51Impartial third party.
02:52Is he texting Ravens players or are you talking about his own team?
02:58I believe that comment, in my opinion, was referring to he's telling the Browns players.
03:02Okay.
03:03Now, let me ask you.
03:04Did you have that opinion before Jonathan Peterland sent him to a microphone?
03:08Yes.
03:08His common sense told me that.
03:10Oh, no.
03:12That's fine.
03:13Oh, no.
03:13I guess I won't adore and hold up the stop sign when it comes to getting me off the show
03:18there.
03:19Wow.
03:19Enjoy working at K&R, Michael.
03:21Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew, pew.
03:22You're right.
03:23He's definitely taking a side here, hasn't he?
03:24Yeah, he has.
03:25Yeah, definitely.
03:25It's a good development for me.
03:27That's all right.
03:27I like this.
03:27Welcome to the team.
03:28That's all right.
03:28The only redheads I like tend to be female.
03:30So, redheaded men.
03:33You like Conan O'Brien?
03:35Do I?
03:36No, I'm kidding.
03:37I do like Conan.
03:39That's an anomaly.
03:40So, the point is, is that clearly Munkin cares about this, and Derek Henry knows Munkin
03:44about as well as anybody does, and obviously, this matters to Munkin.
03:48It matters a great deal to Munkin.
03:50I don't know why he didn't just tell us that he cares about this one a little bit more.
03:53Maybe he knows, ultimately, there's only so much you can do anyway, so why even bother?
03:57Yeah, I do think, I think the Browns have, I think the Browns have a very strong PR staff,
04:03and I'm sure they made Todd aware of the downside of giving Browns fans any red meat on this game
04:11specifically, because it's such a big, I mean, I know it's a big game just because it's a
04:17divisional game and moving to four and two, all that.
04:20It's a big game because there's still a healthy amount of Cleveland that every time we see
04:25the Ravens' colors or the Ravens' team names or people that play for them, we see red.
04:29You know, so I wouldn't be surprised if Todd was just kind of like,
04:34hey, you know, Todd, if you want to trump this game up, maybe just don't.
04:40Maybe let this one breathe, and then if you win, then you can kind of have your Mike Tomlin,
04:45the Browns are the Browns.
04:46Well, so I'm glad you bring up Tomlin, because clearly he wants to bring other people into the mix.
04:50He wants to use other people as a way of being like, see, they're all doubting you, right?
04:55Like, this is, they don't believe in you.
04:57He just doesn't want to bring any opponents into play.
04:59Well, and I think before the game, I expect some sort of statement.
05:05I don't think it's going to be big.
05:06But again, like the Mike Tomlin, Browns is the Browns.
05:09Or even after the Jacksonville loss, where he's like, they better get after us now.
05:14Like, those type of comments.
05:16Like, I don't think it's going to be like a big, grandiose thing.
05:18But yeah, I think if Todd wins this game or if the Browns win this game, I do think it's
05:23what?
05:23I'm thinking of the big, grandiose thing.
05:24It's like, it's him just shooting everyone like the double birds as he walks off.
05:29Little DX crotch chop.
05:30Yeah.
05:31I got two words for you.
05:35That's pretty good.
05:36Yeah.
05:37Out of all the coaching impressions, I feel like that's the best one.
05:40They hired a guy that I could really nail.
05:43I've been screaming at everybody for 40 years, and I have no voice left.
05:47I like that.
05:47That's good.
05:47And I couldn't do it with J.B. Bickerstaff because that might not come out right.
05:51Yeah.
05:51But the Todd Munkin one, safely in my lane.
05:54That's great.
05:55No, I mean, here's the thing.
05:56I think it's big for Munkin personally, and I think it's big for the Browns.
06:00So does it matter to the players, though?
06:01Like, is there anything, like Ross Tucker was trying to make the case that if the players
06:04like him the way that he thinks that they do, then everyone's going to be playing that
06:08much harder.
06:08And my response back to that was, it's the NFL in a divisional game, and what is the toughest
06:12opponent you'll have all year?
06:14Or, and I guess maybe not as tough now that Lamar Jackson isn't playing, but still a really
06:17tough game.
06:18Like, I don't know that you can get to a level that's higher already.
06:22Ooh, I don't know, because do you think that every player plays for every coach the same
06:29level of hardness every moment of...
06:31I don't think it's about playing for every coach the same way.
06:33I think that might be a different story.
06:35But I do think there's only so much you can give, and I feel like they're already maxed out
06:39on that one as is.
06:40I don't subscribe to the idea.
06:42Maybe I need to just get better at this.
06:44Because there are some players, if you're 10 years into this, you got a hard time getting
06:49up for a week seven game or whatever it is.
06:51But like, this is a divisional game.
06:52That happens with age.
06:53Yeah, this is...
06:53Well, yeah.
06:54Get some blue chute, but it'll help you out.
06:56Blue chute goal, baby.
06:57There you go.
06:57But like, there are...
06:59First off, it's an incredibly young team.
07:01So we don't have a lot of those guys that would be in the, I've been here 10 years and
07:04this is a whatever game, but this is not a whatever game on top of it.
07:06It's the Ravens.
07:07It's a divisional game against a team, one of the best teams in the NFL.
07:09Yeah, and I think this is, this goes beyond just the Munkin, Baltimore side of things.
07:15And I think there are going to be people who try and poo-poo this thing on Monday.
07:20If the Browns win, they'll say Lamar wasn't there.
07:22To hell with that.
07:23The Ravens are the favorite in this game.
07:25And this is, and you're coming off, what you can make a case is, I wasn't going to say your
07:30worst game of the year, but certainly a game that felt like a massive regression.
07:35Offensively, at the very least.
07:36So, to say that you're going to win this game, if we believe that's what's going to
07:41happen, then you will have had to take another step back in the right direction.
07:46I mean, if they win at the end of this game, a lot of the rhetoric is going to be,
07:49we did
07:50it for Coach.
07:50We did it, we did it for Munkin.
07:52But I just don't know that I, I don't buy into that idea that there's like another level
07:56they can reach to in the name of Todd Munkin in this.
07:59I was, for some reason, I was thinking of the Catholic side of things, like, may Todd
08:03Munkin be with you, and also with you.
08:06That was a T.
08:07That's a T.
08:07That's not a cross.
08:08That's a T for Todd.
08:09They retired, and also with you a million years ago.
08:11Really?
08:11What's it now?
08:12I don't even know.
08:13I don't go to church at this point.
08:14Oh.
08:15Okay.
08:17That's just how it is.
08:18I didn't realize I was working with a non-believer there, Mark Koch.
08:22No, I just...
08:22Oh, all of a sudden, maybe Mark Koch is a Satanist.
08:25Is that what I'm understanding?
08:26I went to Catholic school for my entire life, and God and I have an understanding.
08:32I don't need...
08:32Nowhere in the Bible does it say I have to be there every Sunday?
08:34I think...
08:35That's not...
08:35There's nowhere...
08:35Show me the Bible where it says that.
08:37How can you know?
08:38God's everywhere.
08:39How can you know?
08:39He's everywhere.
08:40But how can you know that it's nowhere in the Bible that it says you should be there every
08:43Sunday, because you don't read the Bible?
08:45Because it was the...
08:46I have read the Bible.
08:46You and Mark Koch, a couple of...
08:47I have read the Bible.
08:48A couple of non-believers here in the heartland, I just want to say...
08:51All I did was go to Catholic school my whole entire life.
08:53I wish I had some holy water.
08:54Just throw it on you.
08:55I could use it right now.
08:56Throw it on Mark Koch.
08:57I could use it right now.
08:58Yeah.
08:59I know so life is really...
09:01North Solon waters have really perverted you.
09:03Is that right?
09:04That's exactly what happened.
09:05That's the water fault?
09:06You were a man of Christ before you went to North Solon.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Yeah.
09:09Now, that being said...
09:10No, I mean, this is a...
09:12This is a kind of game of like...
09:14It can't be a get-right game because it's the Ravens.
09:17And again, you're four and a half point dogs at home.
09:20But yeah.
09:20Like, this is...
09:22The difference between four and two and three and three feels gigantic.
09:27And it shouldn't.
09:28A three and three start to the season should have been or would have been looked at as a success.
09:34But you're coming off a loss that you probably shouldn't have had.
09:37So you probably need to swing back and get a win people think you shouldn't have either.
09:40I just think Todd Monken wants this one for a lot of reasons outside of Baltimore.
09:43While acknowledging that if you...
09:44But if you told him in the beginning of the year, Nick, you get to pick one game that's a
09:48win no matter what.
09:49He's choosing the Baltimore game.
09:51But it's not because it's his former team.
09:53It's because they're the best team on the schedule.
09:55And getting a win against a team like Baltimore is going to be way better than...
10:00Like, if he was the coach of the Titans for the last three years, he wouldn't be like,
10:04Oh, that Titans game is the one I want so badly if you gave him one chance to predict out
10:08a win.
10:08Like, no, it's like it's just...
10:10The Ravens are one of the best teams on the schedule.
10:12Yeah, they are.
10:13But they're not going to give credit for this win because Lamar's not there.
10:16You and I think that's insane because they're still good enough without Lamar to beat you.
10:20I think my big mission for the next three days is telling everybody until this game actually gets going
10:24that, like, Snoop Huntley's not a bad quarterback.
10:27No, he is a bad quarterback.
10:28Well, he's not an NFL starting quarterback, yes.
10:31But he's not...
10:31The last two weeks, he has played really good football.
10:35And Derek Henry and Zay Flowers...
10:36What about the three or four previous years?
10:37Wait, well, again, like, if I'm going off the last two games that we've seen him play,
10:42it's a 1-10 passer rating and it's two wins.
10:44Like, I mean, he's done really nice things.
10:47I'm not going to be able to erase your vision or anybody else's vision of Snoop Huntley.
10:53But the acknowledgement that with him at quarterback, with Derek Henry, with Zay Flowers,
10:59with Mark Andrews, with all these other pieces, that's a decent football team.
11:04It's not a Ravens team you or I would bet any money on in the playoffs,
11:07but it's a good enough team to beat the Browns.
11:10I would just take the focus off Tyler Huntley and say,
11:14that's one of the four best running backs in the league still, despite the fact the guy's like 32.
11:19And he's impossible to bring down.
11:21He's one of the yak kings in the NFL.
11:22And you have problems bringing running backs down.
11:25And then the other style of player that you struggle with are those incredibly speedy underneath receivers
11:31that can turn a seven-yard crossing route into 75-yard touchdown.
11:37So, like, take the quarterback spot out of it.
11:41Either Henry or Flowers, in and of themselves, is a matchup nightmare.
11:46And that's before you get to a defense that, again, like, the defense you're going up against on Sunday
11:51is a much better defense than the one that you just got beat by a week ago.
11:55So, I don't know how much the weather truly mattered in that one.
11:58And, again, I'm not sure the weather's going to be great on Sunday anyways here in Cleveland.
12:01But, like, we're in this weird spot of, like, I think this game matters a lot more than people realize
12:08because they just go, well, it's Ravens.
12:11It's a divisional game.
12:12Yeah, it matters for those reasons.
12:13It matters because you've got to get back to winning.
12:16Well, and if you win this one, you're sole possession of first place again.
12:19Yeah.
12:19Well, but, I mean, even that.
12:20Like, this is just about getting back on the right side of things because, again,
12:25so much of the good vibes, so much of the who gives a crap what people say about you
12:29was that you won three straight games.
12:32And you just, I think where the Browns are, and they're in their treadwater stretch of the season.
12:43Meaning, because you're so young, I think you're going to be able to grow into a nice team.
12:46But to get there, and meaning by the end of the year, we can start talking about a team
12:50playing better football, less bleepy football, in the words of Todd Munkin, than they were to start the season.
12:56But to do that, you've got to kind of steady the ship here.
13:01I think if you lose two straight, even with an easier schedule on the other side of this,
13:08well, I can paint that Steelers game any which way.
13:11I can paint that Texans game any which way.
13:13Right?
13:14Like, it's about getting back on the right side of things.
13:16You lose, in back-to-back weeks, the Jets and then Snoop Huntley, even though I'm on that mission still,
13:21I'm telling you.
13:22Pro Bowler.
13:22It's going to look, yeah, it's going to look real tough for a lot of people.
13:25I'm so proud that you didn't disingenuously say, like, you know, he's a Pro Bowler.
13:29No, I can't.
13:30I'm not doing that.
13:31Now, you and I are not the people to do that.
13:33No.
13:33Well, everyone listening knows, too.
13:35They know that's the most disingenuous thing you could possibly say.
13:37I think everyone.
13:38I bet you there's one guy screaming, like, hey, this is a Pro Bowler.
13:41Respect Snoop Huntley.
13:42Yeah.
13:43I guarantee you there's a couple people out there.
13:45Because, again, we always assume everyone's on the same page with things.
13:49I think our callers occasionally show to us that we're not.
13:52Yeah.
13:53Is that right?
13:53We've got a wide variance of takes out there.
13:55That is what's fun about what we do, though, is everyone's got different perspectives and different viewpoints
14:00and different amounts of knowledge that they even take in.
14:03Because, you know, some people have, like, a normal nine-to-five job and don't just sit here and talk
14:06about it all day like us.
14:08I was going to say how lucky they are.
14:10They're not lucky.
14:11We're the lucky ones.
14:12No, we're the lucky ones.
14:13We get to take our brain to the furthest part of every single discussion ever when it comes to sports.
14:18You guys might be able to retire one day.
14:21And you don't live under constant fear of business regression.
14:26But I'll tell you, we get to have more fun.
14:29How about that?
14:31Business regression?
14:32Yeah.
14:32I know.
14:33That was the nicest way to say.
14:36Hey, corporate radio is not the, you know, it's a challenge.
14:41I'm too much of a company man for this convo.
14:42You can't have it?
14:43I can't have it.
14:44I can't have it?
14:44Too much of a company man for this.
14:46Radio's great.
14:48Odyssey's great.
14:50Everyone's great.
14:50Yeah.
14:51We're all doing well.
14:52Everyone's great.
14:52That's actually the new name of the show.
14:53We're all doing well.
14:54It's everyone's great with Jonathan Peterland and Michael Marcotch.
15:00Everything's great.
15:01And I'm working at Burger King.
