A shocking video from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral showing police personnel dragging women by their hair during a raid in the Daranagar Ganj area under Kotwali city limits.
According to reports, police had gone to arrest Shivam Kashyap after a dispute with a man named Pramod. When he wasn’t found, Inspector Sanjay Tyagi allegedly misbehaved with Shivam’s family, pulling his mother’s hair and dragging her along the road. Other women were also reportedly assaulted.
Locals allege that the raid took place on Diwali night, and that the police acted brutally in the name of “swift action.” The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling it an insult to the state government’s “Mission Shakti”, which aims to protect women.
Police officials have stated that an investigation is underway, though no official action has been taken yet against the accused officer.
