00:03On this episode of Counting Cars, I've got Pawn Stars, Rick and Corey, coming by for a special project.
00:10It's amazing!
00:14Nice car, man!
00:15Can we take a look at it?
00:17I think he thinks we're a little bit crazy.
00:20Should we bag it?
00:21No.
00:24I've really got an extensive collection of tattoos.
00:27I would really like to apply that to my bike.
00:29Do we have to take naked pictures of you?
00:34Vegas is a gambling town.
00:36Most people bet with chips.
00:38I bet with rides.
00:40Look at this.
00:41And I always go all in.
00:42Wow.
00:43What would you take for this?
00:44I'm Danny, a.k.a. The Count.
00:47And this is my all-star team.
00:49We find them, fix them, flip them, and sometimes I keep them.
00:53This is 30G!
00:55I can't help myself!
00:56For my crew, every job's high stakes, and we can't afford to lose.
01:00This is Counting Cars.
01:05Today, Kevin and I are cruising around looking for some cars.
01:09It's one of my favorite things that we do.
01:10I like to just go cruise some neighborhoods, see what's going on out there.
01:14And this kind of stuff is really important to my business because this is how we find cars.
01:18This is how we flip cars.
01:19This is how we make money on cars.
01:21Personally, it's an addiction.
01:23Can we stop and get coffee?
01:24Yeah.
01:25You got that, man.
01:29Kevin's my right hand man.
01:31We go back almost 20 years now.
01:33They always say that you shouldn't mix business with friendship, but it really works out just great.
01:38We do very good business together, but we remain the best of friends.
01:43Dude, dude, dude, dude, dude! Look at that! Look at that! Look at that! Look at that! Look at that!
01:46It is beautiful!
01:48Dude, spin around, spin around. We get a catch.
01:49Oh, you got it.
01:50I'm serious, dude.
01:51All right, hold on.
01:52That thing was bad!
01:55I restore a lot of vehicles from the ground up, but sometimes I'm just looking for something that's a quick
01:59flip.
02:00Either it's done or it's close to done.
02:02And when I saw this Chevy, man, it just hit me right between the eyes.
02:06I knew if I could score this car for the right price, this thing would be an easy flip.
02:11We're catching up. We're catching up.
02:14Hey, can you pull over?
02:15Check out your car?
02:17No?
02:18Oh, come on.
02:19Dude, we got a red light.
02:20Pull up next to me, guys.
02:22All right, I'm gonna try this one.
02:29Hey, man.
02:30Nice car, man.
02:31Thanks.
02:32What year is that?
02:3339.
02:3439?
02:35You mind stopping for a minute?
02:36We take a look at it?
02:37No, I got it.
02:38You sure?
02:39Yeah.
02:41Man.
02:42I don't know.
02:43We might want to talk.
02:44He ain't happy about it, man.
02:46No deal?
02:47He ain't into it.
02:49I think he thinks we're a little bit crazy.
02:51Should we bag it?
02:52No.
02:55I don't think I've ever been with Danny where he's given up on a car that he wants.
03:00He will fight tooth and nail to get a car.
03:02Oh, this guy's gonna get all freaked out.
03:04He's probably gonna drive to the nearest police station.
03:10Dude, check him out.
03:12He's trying to get away from us.
03:16Okay, here's our chance.
03:17Here's our chance.
03:18Five minutes?
03:19Just five minutes.
03:20All right.
03:21Just coming out here.
03:23You're doing awesome, man.
03:26Man, on a difficulty meter of chasing this guy down on a scale from one to ten, it was
03:31up there, man.
03:31I would put him at a solid eight.
03:33Thanks for stopping.
03:35My name's Danny.
03:36It's a shame.
03:36Not normal for people to do that, but kind of checked him out a little bit.
03:39It didn't look too strange and, you know, out of place, so it kind of eased my mind.
03:43Man, what a good looking car.
03:46What year is it?
03:47It's a 1939 Chevy.
03:4939 Chevy.
03:50Yes.
03:51It's a business coupe.
03:52It's got a four inch chop top on it.
03:53It's gorgeous.
03:54And I like the angle on it, man.
03:55It's sweet.
03:56It's really cocky looking.
03:57I love the wheels.
03:59It took forever to find those.
04:00Oh, wow.
04:031939.
04:04I think gas was like 10 cents a gallon or something.
04:06Exactly.
04:07You know what I'm saying?
04:08You had hair in 1939.
04:10There's something wrong with you.
04:12This was the working man's car.
04:15When it was new, it cost about $650, which by today's standards would be about $10,000.
04:19And between the Great Depression and World War II, that's how Chevy outsold Ford as America's
04:25number one leading auto manufacturer.
04:27They were making attractive cars at a very affordable price.
04:30And it's really interesting to see through all these years how they get transformed into
04:35these extremely high tech hot rod machines.
04:38And where they came from to where they are now, it's kind of a cool vibe.
04:44Well, it's just beautiful.
04:45And I really appreciate you stopping.
04:47But I just have to ask, would you consider a cash offer of maybe somewhere around $40,000
04:52for this car?
04:53I need to make this gentleman an offer that's high enough to get his attention, but still low
04:57enough for me to make a profit.
04:59You know, it's a fine line.
05:00And I got to tread that very carefully.
05:04I don't think she really could sell it.
05:07I put at least probably $60,000 in that car.
05:11My fiancee, Tonya, and I, we've went to so many car shows and had so many good memories.
05:17We found a girl I met that really likes the hot rods and not me.
05:21That's a good girl.
05:22You know, she likes it, so.
05:23Oh, I thought you were going to say she doesn't like you.
05:25She just likes the hot rods.
05:26I think that's mostly true.
05:27Grab Tonya and come down to the shop sometime.
05:30Come wander around and see what we've got going on down there.
05:32Yeah.
05:32Thank you for stopping.
05:33Thanks for stopping, bro.
05:33Sorry to bother you.
05:35Good luck on your next stop.
05:36Absolutely.
05:37It's really hard to try to convince somebody to sell their car to you just right off the
05:42cuff like that.
05:42I mean, they didn't wake up this morning thinking, you know, I think I'm going to sell
05:45my car today.
05:45But I feel like he just might change his mind and decide to sell me this car one day.
05:50Sometimes it's just a game of patience.
05:52Just kind of lay back and wait.
05:54Man, that's like candy on wheels, man.
05:56Well, you get over girls quicker than you get over cars.
06:11Well, this is looking pretty tight, man.
06:13He got all the new bushings and everything in it, which is great.
06:18What's that?
06:19Check it out, man.
06:20Rick must have picked up the car.
06:21Oh, the one you went with Ted?
06:23Yeah.
06:23Nice.
06:26Good morning, gents.
06:28Danny, my man.
06:29You just made me so happy when you guys pulled up.
06:32Good morning.
06:33You did it.
06:34You did it.
06:34You brought her home.
06:35Yeah.
06:36I love it.
06:38So the other day, Rick and Corey had me come check out a 1968 Mustang Fastback.
06:43Rick's got a great idea about turning this into like a Steve McQueen bullet replica.
06:48Corey, he's got other ideas about the car.
06:50But either way, I told him, if you can score this car for the right price, bring it back here
06:54to the shop.
06:54We can make it happen.
06:57So, give me the good news, man.
07:00What'd you end up having to pay for?
07:01Pay $12,500 for it.
07:03You did?
07:03Yeah.
07:04$12,500 too much.
07:06No, man.
07:06I think that's a really good deal, man.
07:09So we're going to do the bullet, right?
07:11Yeah.
07:11We're going to do the Steve McQueen special right here.
07:13I love it.
07:13I love it.
07:14I love it.
07:14I'm just a ridiculous Steve McQueen fan.
07:17I mean, he really is the coolest guy ever.
07:19I mean, this is what he drove in Bullet.
07:21And in the movie Bullet, they have the greatest car chase scene in the history of all movies.
07:26So I just want to make sure it looks just like the car in the movie.
07:29That's what I want.
07:31Yeah.
07:32See, the thing about the bullet Mustang, it was so wicked cool bad,
07:36but yet it was so completely understated under the radar.
07:40I mean, everything was darkened up on that car.
07:43And all the flash was just turned way down.
07:45And the car just was like, I've got an attitude.
07:48It's you, man.
07:51This car can potentially be like a $50,000 car.
07:54Absolutely.
07:55How do we get there from this?
07:59The only thing this car has going for it is that 30 years ago in a movie,
08:04Steve McQueen drove the same car, but this ain't the car Steve McQueen drove.
08:08This should have gone away with cash for clunkers back in the day.
08:11I mean, someone should have traded this in on a Kia or something.
08:14I can't visualize this car being cool.
08:20It's going to be a lot of work.
08:21Yeah.
08:21The first thing we have to do is we've got to strip this car down to bare metal.
08:25The color, this whole thing is going to be Highland Green,
08:28which actually was a factory color that Ford had back then.
08:31Okay.
08:34Maybe we'll just fix up this red interior a little bit better.
08:36Yeah.
08:38So we'll go all black inside, just the way it should be.
08:41All bone stock Mustang interior.
08:43And we could save a bunch of this material and put it in Corey's car.
08:48Does that know?
08:52So how much do you think it's going to cost me?
08:55That's always a good question.
08:56But I'm going to guess we're anywhere between 15 and 20 grand
08:59and should get us that bullet Mustang out of this.
09:02I'm thinking.
09:02Okay.
09:04This car could be worth $40,000 or $50,000 when it's done.
09:07I'm already in at $12,500.
09:10If the restoration goes much more than $20,000, I could get screwed on this deal.
09:16All right.
09:16Just try and keep it close to $15,000, man.
09:18Damn.
09:19I'll stay on that as hard as I can.
09:22I estimated it was going to take about $15,000 to do this Mustang,
09:26but I'm just going to hope that we can't get it done for that kind of money.
09:30Yeah.
09:31This is going to be good.
09:32This is going to be good, very good.
09:35Well, I'm afraid that all of these pieces are literally going to have to be replaced.
09:41Ching, ching, ching, ching.
09:43The dollars just keep adding up, brother.
09:58Got a large part of the team taking apart that 1968 Mustang Fastback
10:02to get that bullet project happening for Rick Harrison.
10:05But in the meantime, got a new client just walked through the door
10:08who's got a very interesting paint job he wants to put on his Harley Davidson.
10:12Hey, man, how you doing?
10:13I'm Danny.
10:14I'm Bob.
10:15Bob, nice to meet you.
10:16This is a really cool scoop.
10:19Harley Davidson soft tails are wonderful motorcycles.
10:22Soft tails mimic the hard tail, but gives you a comfortable ride with a suspension.
10:26It's one of the coolest frames Harley Davidson's ever done.
10:29How long have you been riding, Bob?
10:31I mean, I've been riding as long as I can remember.
10:33My dad rode.
10:34Yeah.
10:35His dad rode.
10:36You know, my kids ride.
10:37I like that.
10:39Do you have a vision for yourself?
10:42I mean, what do you want to see?
10:43Over the last few years, I've really got an extensive collection of tattoos.
10:48I would really like to apply that to my bike.
10:50I like the way you're thinking.
10:52A paint job that's all 100% tattoo artwork.
10:56That's not a request you get every day, but I'm digging it.
10:58You've got a lot of stuff going on.
11:00Are we going to cover the entire bike with it?
11:03It's sort of like a collage.
11:04Over the years, I've probably spent at least $10,000 on my body art.
11:09So what was the first piece that you got?
11:12Actually, this skull.
11:14And it just started from there.
11:16All my tattoos are memories.
11:18I love it, man.
11:19You know, this is going to be fun.
11:20Everything means something.
11:21Hey, Shannon, do you know is Horny Mike around?
11:24Um, yeah.
11:25I think he is.
11:25This is something that he would just go nuts with.
11:28Because, you know, he is nuts.
11:30Oh, yes.
11:31I'll go get it.
11:31I've got an incredible airbrush artist here at the shop.
11:34Goes by the name of Horny Mike.
11:36And I think what he's going to bring to this project is really going to make it pop.
11:39Mike!
11:40What's going down?
11:41They call me Horny Mike for a reason.
11:44I put horns on everything.
11:46I put them on my jacket.
11:48I got a 25 of them molded into my bike.
11:51I put them on anything.
11:52And, hey, it gets everybody horny.
11:54Why wouldn't I want to do it?
11:56Bob here is covered in ink.
11:58And he really wants to take that vibe and cover this bike.
12:02Tattoo the bike up.
12:03Tattoo the entire bike.
12:04Do we have to take naked pictures of you?
12:08Well, I mean, if that's what you're into.
12:09I guess we got to get reference.
12:13Can we put some horns on it?
12:15I don't know if I'd go that far.
12:17You don't want to go crazy?
12:18Okay, Mike.
12:19Back to the paint.
12:20You can tell me exactly which ones you truly want on there.
12:22All of them.
12:23All of them.
12:24All of them.
12:25Boy, this is going to be a detailed paint job.
12:27Absolutely.
12:28This is going to be crazy.
12:29Want to go take naked pictures?
12:30Let's do it.
12:31All right.
12:32Want to hold hands?
12:33No.
12:41Hold up.
12:42Hold up.
12:43Just hold.
12:44We ran into a little bit of a speed bump with this Mustang project.
12:47Whoever did this insane red velvet interior glued everything down.
12:53And it looks like they've screwed up most of the original panels underneath all of it.
12:58I didn't expect this to be so bad.
13:00I can't believe that somebody glued all of this janky upholstery all over the console, all over the dash, all
13:09over everything.
13:09I'm afraid that all of these pieces are literally going to have to be replaced.
13:15Look at this.
13:17This hat's done.
13:18That is so nasty.
13:21Ching, ching, ching, ching.
13:23The dollars just keep adding up, brother.
13:25I'm sorry, man.
13:26Scott is the money guy here.
13:28He keeps an eye on the books and the accounting, manages each project to make sure that we're making money
13:33on it and not losing.
13:35Scott's really good at his job.
13:37He can be a real a** sometimes.
13:39There's going to be some late hours for me trying to find these parts.
13:42I'm with you.
13:43I think we're going to be a solid five grand in the interior, which we just don't have no more
13:47room in the budget.
13:48I think Danny needs an intervention on this one.
13:50He was way off.
13:51Just pass me your personal credit card.
13:53We'll feel it.
13:54You're right.
13:55Well, let's always look for the positive.
13:57Man, I got 13 cents and 14 dollars.
13:59If we put this towards the bill, 30 more cents right there on this side.
14:04You keep digging for change, brother, man.
14:07Every penny counts.
14:09Rick's one of my best customers, and I promised him that this project was going to be right around 15
14:14grand.
14:14And it looks like it's going to be more close to $25,000.
14:18So I'm really going to have to try to figure out how I'm going to make this budget work.
14:22It's not going to be easy.
14:26Get ready, baby, because this thing's bad, brother.
14:30F*** me.
14:31That is phenomenal, huh?
14:32That's not the same car, is it?
14:34Absolutely, man.
14:35So I'm imagining it costs more than the 15.
14:37I definitely blew past our budget.
14:53We've been building Rick Harrison's 68 Mustang Fastback for three weeks now.
14:58It's been sandblasted, painted, and assembled to match every speck of the Mustang from the original Bullet movie.
15:05I promised Rick that I could do this for around $15,000.
15:09But due to the terrible conditioning interior in this car, I'm a little over 20K in it right now.
15:14But you know what?
15:16I've got other business to attend to right now.
15:18Bob's in the bike shop.
15:19He's here to pick up his custom tattoo bike, and I can't wait to see the reaction.
15:23Oh, yeah.
15:24Get ready for this, brother.
15:26Get ready for this.
15:28F*** me.
15:30What's up, Bob?
15:32Check it out, brother.
15:33Wow.
15:36Look at that, man.
15:37That is awesome.
15:38I love it.
15:39Your ink all tells a story.
15:40Now your bike's telling the story.
15:41You know what, brother?
15:42That's exactly what I wanted.
15:44That is phenomenal.
15:45I mean, it's a piece of art.
15:47When I first saw the bike, one of the best ways to put it is like, remember being a kid?
15:51Your first time in a candy store?
15:53It was just overwhelming.
15:55You know, sometimes I tell people, it's just got you written all over it.
16:02Holy s***.
16:04I'm glad you're happy, brother.
16:06Oh, I'm extremely happy.
16:07This ain't over yet, man.
16:09Check you out.
16:10Look at this.
16:11She got a nice riding vest to go with it.
16:13Oh, man, that is awesome.
16:15Here, you gotta try it on.
16:17I'm making everybody horny.
16:18Absolutely, brother.
16:20Oh, yeah.
16:20Oh, yeah.
16:21Amen.
16:22I got horns.
16:23Now I'm horny Bob.
16:25I knew I was gonna get horns somewhere.
16:28I'm just glad it wasn't on my bike.
16:30Well, I love the look.
16:32First impression, Bob.
16:33Like I said, f*** me.
16:34You know?
16:35I mean, it's just him.
16:37Mike, you came out swinging on this, brother.
16:39I tried.
16:40I tried.
16:40Mike put in a lot of hours on this thing.
16:42About 80 hours on the whole bike.
16:44Yep.
16:44The tattoo bike wasn't very easy.
16:46It had a lot of detail going into it.
16:50First, we had to put a base coat on it.
16:52Afterwards, basically, you gotta go through
16:54and airbrush in all the tattoos all over it.
16:57And you have to do this all by freehand.
16:58There's no stencils.
16:59There's no nothing.
17:00You do it all by eye.
17:01And there's not a lot of room for mistake.
17:03Oh, man.
17:04Look at that one.
17:05There's your original piece.
17:06Yeah, my first tattoo.
17:07There he is, brother.
17:08The skull work is phenomenal.
17:10There's even my koi.
17:12Yeah.
17:13That one's right here.
17:15I wish your tattoo looked that good.
17:17Sweet, huh?
17:17Yep.
17:18Everything is perfect.
17:19This is almost up there with having your first kiss.
17:23Glad you're happy with it.
17:25Thank you there, Horny Mike.
17:26No problem.
17:27Now you're Horny Bob.
17:28Get on it and get the hell out of here.
17:30This custom tattoo paint job was a lot of work.
17:33But that's what we do here.
17:34We take our customer's vision and make it into reality.
17:38I'm just glad that we can make it happen for him.
17:41Lookin' tough.
17:46Nice, son.
17:47That's so badass.
17:56Alright, so where are we at?
17:57Top secret.
17:59I just hope you're not bringing me out here to bury me or bury the car.
18:02This is Vegas, you know.
18:03So you really did bring us out here to kill us.
18:06We've been working around the clock to get this bullet mustang ready for Rick Harrison.
18:10And after everything we've been through with her, she's finally ready for the road.
18:14So I've got Kevin bringing Rick and Cory out to the desert so they can see what this baby can
18:19do.
18:20Seriously, Kevin, man, it's hot.
18:21What are we doing out here?
18:22It's a surprise.
18:23This literally looks like a road in a horror flick.
18:25Did you bring a gun with you?
18:29Well, there's something coming.
18:32It definitely doesn't look like the piece of crap we bought.
18:37Oh, wow.
18:38That's not the same car, is it?
18:44What's up, Jens?
18:45Thank God, man.
18:47That thing is amazing.
18:51Beautiful, huh?
18:51Came out gorgeous.
18:53Oh, this is cool, man.
18:54I poured my heart and soul into it just like I was building for myself.
18:57This is just absolutely amazing.
18:59Glad you dig it, brother.
19:00I'm looking at this car and everything about it's amazing.
19:03The paint job, the chrome, the wheels.
19:06I mean, this car used to look like a piece of .
19:09Now it's one of the prettiest cars I've ever seen in my life.
19:13Sexy, huh?
19:14It's amazing.
19:15What'd you do to the motor?
19:17Everything.
19:17Well, that's definitely not stock.
19:20I mean, we took this car down to the last nut and bolt.
19:23It's a very, very happy motor, dude.
19:26That's amazing.
19:28Beautiful.
19:29Well, let me check out the interior, man, because I remember a lot of shag carpet and stuff.
19:34There was a lot of shag, a lot of velvet.
19:36You know, last time I saw this Mustang, the interior was completely destroyed.
19:41And them to actually be able to make it look brand new, I mean, it's just amazing.
19:46Man, I'm telling you, Denny, I can't believe you were able to get it done.
19:49That car was a piece of crap.
19:52So I'm assuming it cost more than 15 grand effects.
19:55Well, you know, let's talk about that later.
19:57Let's go for a drive first, man.
20:00Before I tell Rick how much we ended up spending on the bullet, I want to get him out on
20:04the road so he can see just how bad this car is.
20:07Hopefully, he won't be too mad when he hears we went over budget.
20:13All right.
20:14You're safe.
20:21This thing is amazing.
20:26This thing is literally the fountain of youth.
20:28Oh, look at me in the mirror.
20:29I'm 22 years younger.
20:32Denny really did this car perfect.
20:33And the whole fact that it looks exactly like the car in the movie is a big deal.
20:37I'm a big Steve McQueen fan.
20:39I mean, he was the king of cool.
20:40This thing's amazing, dude.
20:44I'm going to own this car for a long time.
20:48Oh, yeah.
20:51Nice.
20:52Look, I grew hair.
20:55Danny told me he'd get this thing done for $15,000.
20:59I think it's going to go way over that.
21:01Okay, so I'm imagining it cost more than the $15,000 to $20,000.
21:05It did.
21:06I definitely blew past our budget.
21:08I know we were trying to keep it as close as we could to $15,000.
21:12I've got, you know, $22,000 in it.
21:16I mean, honestly, if you would have told me $35,000, I would have thought that was a deal.
21:22But, hey, I don't got to pay that.
21:23Thanks, man.
21:26As long as you're that happy, I'm that happy.
21:28I bought the car for $12,500.
21:29Danny only charged me $22,000 to fix it, which means I'm in the entire thing $34,500.
21:35And, literally, the car's worth $50,000 or $60,000.
21:38Or, the way I'm looking at it, I think the thing's priceless.
21:42Nice.
21:42Man, I'm really proud of our team.
21:44Yep.
21:44Rick is happy, and we even made a believer out of Corey.
21:47Yep.
21:48You hungry?
21:49I'm always hungry.
21:49I know you are. That's why I asked.
21:51Let's go get something to eat, man.
21:52I'm starving.
