02:11the back of that bad boy just just let it roll that geotracker well you gotta be careful i mean
02:15people get in there boy that geotracker was small especially the big ones there's a big fellas in
02:20that bad boy four deep big ones in that bad boy oh man yeah that was uh that was good
02:27times all
02:28right um uh xavier hutchinson mentioned what he said this is when you talk about the identity of
02:37what domiko ryans is trying to build in terms as a player in and here for the texans this is
02:44this is
02:45what he said that he is trying to build and i love that hutch is an offensive player
02:50because you can really feel what domiko is trying to build on the other side it has been harder to
02:56feel that on on this side and i'll be honest with you i think xavier hutchinson is probably one of
03:00the
03:03the
03:08the
03:10the
03:11the
03:11the
03:12i can't say it i can't make myself say
03:15swarm yeah one of those type players on offense i think he i think he is
03:20that's i think he is one of those probably the physical players that they like to have
03:25on offense but this is him talking about the identity of this type of player that domiko's
03:31tried to create
03:32how would you how would you describe what the identity of a texans player is then uh you've
03:38probably heard it a lot swarm yeah it's quite literally swarm i know you know you use that for
03:42defense yeah but as far as offense like it's just playing fast playing physical uh because you know
03:48if you play fast you play physical and you have fun which you know sounds corny yeah trust me it
03:52sounded corny coming out of my mouth but when you do it but i feel like cliches exist because
03:56yeah they exist right in front of you and they're very hard to execute on and if you execute on
04:00them
04:00that's where success comes from no 100 100 and that's really like that's just our whole motto
04:05yeah to be honest with you it's just a swarm about the day
04:07right like put all the personal feelings aside put how you feel that day yeah when you put those
04:12cleats on you step on the field like it's about one thing and one thing only you know what listening
04:16to him it is really interesting clint because
04:22that you look at that play fast physical
04:26and free
04:29how often has this offense done that in this time right like how often they're like
04:34tyler you watch them every week there is no way over the last several years
04:38that the offensive line has ever played fast physical physical and free like ever ever been
04:45just like all right we know exactly what the hell we gonna do and we're about to play hard and
04:50play
04:50fast and there is no this offensive line is never they all look like they look like as soon as
04:56the
04:56ball is snapped all right here we go here we go nobody let them in nobody let them in don't
05:00do
05:00nothing here don't like they're just all over the place like i got it the o-line definitely has
05:05never done that not very swarmy
05:10okay well that's that's what x was talking about
05:12no they haven't maybe nico maybe that maybe maybe a couple of years ago or or nico tank and and
05:21step
05:21diggs in those two years maybe there was some freedom there there was some freedom where you could
05:27feel like cj and tank were were kind of you know off off schedule making plays that rookie year but
05:37the
05:37o-line doesn't play that way damian pierce never played with any type of freedom and i mean he was
05:45he was he was taking a calculus test sitting back there every every time trying to figure out which hole
05:51to go to right maybe joe mixon did that but he was still trying to figure out the jigsaw puzzle
05:56of
05:57guys getting their asses kicked right in it right in his lap at times so this offense cj stroud
06:03that's a whole nother play but the offense in general they have never played to that level well look i
06:09think the big picture here is is when when you're asked about the swarm mentality it's oftentimes um tied
06:17to the texans organization when in reality it's it's it is all about the texans defense because to
06:23your point overall there's been few and far between moments in time where you could even even get
06:30remotely close to saying that that run of offense is is the swarm mentality that we're looking like in
06:38its offensive form to your point the physicality up front it's they're admitting right now by bringing
06:44all these other guys in that that physicality was was not there right the david montgomery move
06:49obviously on the heels of joe mixon clearly that's a that's an individual uh player there i mean
06:55they're they're um you know when it comes to to being the swarm which the fast the physical the violent
07:03the the the dictating and imposing your will on people that we see so beautifully executed uh on the
07:12defensive side but by our defensive players you're right it is a far cry from that on the offensive
07:17side so um look i i think it's it's cute it's cute to talk about the offense is is swarmy
07:26as well
07:27uh but the reality of it is i think i think nick and damika were trying to get this offense
07:32there
07:32that's why they signed the guys that they signed this offseason uh it's why they went so extreme with
07:38that kind of player and so extreme to we've got to establish the run first and foremost
07:43now the o-line does feel like there may be especially running the football there may be
07:49a physical freedom and understanding of what of what you want and they can play that well hopefully
07:55you know hopefully you got to be a you got to be a bad bunch up front to be able
07:59to do that i mean
08:00you've got your your offensive coordinator's got to have an unbelievable commitment to the run game
08:05and your dudes up front got to be some bad dudes to accomplish what they're trying to accomplish we'll
08:10see if that if that happens but the reality of it is is that the the swarm mentality is very
08:15obvious
08:16when our defense is on the field and it's hard to find when our offense is on the field and
08:21so uh
08:22hopefully we can get there with our run game hopefully we can get there with david montgomery
08:25and wyatt teller and braden smith and and a second year with ingram and and and it's this uh rutledge
08:31kid that they drafted hopefully we can get there uh and and it takes over the offense as well because
08:36that would be that would be a beautiful thing bottom line is this you look at that put all these
08:42different you know the swarmy and all what it stands for and all that kind of job the reality of
08:48it is when you look at our defense more times than not they are dictating the game from the defensive
08:56side of the football right and offensively we're not we are reactive from jump and not very good
09:03at it right so they've got to get to a point where where ultimately they start dictating to the opponent
09:10whether that's through the run game or it's through you know the the offensive coordinator play caller
09:15quarterback get better whatever whatever it is they've got to start dictating to the defense and
09:20controlling the game in their own way the way that our defense does pretty consistently versus most
09:26most opponents yeah now you could tell a real difference in just like there's not a lot of
09:34thinking it appears with the the texas defense which defense that happens with defense on offense
09:40as opposed to offense anyway some some of it see ball go get ball but at least across the offensive
09:46line
09:46at some point like when you watch the rams they look like they're playing free and everybody knows
09:54exactly what they're wanting to do when you look at offenses like that they don't even have to be
09:58like high level offenses right like you get like you can just see offenses where well these guys know
10:04exactly what they want to do and they're coming off the ball like that the texas just haven't had that
10:08i think ron and you've been out there quite a bit i mean it's to me it's when i watch
10:15the texans
10:16defense practice everything about the way they practice is defined by swarm yeah right and then
10:24you watch we watch the offense for years now we've watched the offense and there look there's been
10:28moments but i think overall especially under nick cayley so far um and i look i think it was a
10:34disservice by domico that was a bad decision by domico to treat training camp the way that he did and
10:38just abused the offense but the offense went out there and it was almost a hope and pray
