00:00Before we get into this game, it was announced, Tom Pellicero, I saw ahead at first, amongst
00:08others, that the Texans are trading offensive tackle Cam Robinson to the Cleveland Browns.
00:14Boy, they seem to do a lot of deals with the Cleveland Browns.
00:17But to the Cleveland Browns, according to Tom Pellicero and Ian Rappaport, it's a sixth
00:22or seventh round pick swap in 2027.
00:25So Cam Robinson, the big free agent move, and I think you could argue their biggest move
00:32to address the offensive line as they gave him $12 million guaranteed, $14 million on
00:37a one-year deal, has been traded to the Cleveland Browns.
00:42D'Amico Ryans did speak about this a bit.
00:45Here is D'Amico on reports of them moving on from Cam Robinson.
00:49We traded Cam to the Browns today.
00:52It gives Cam an opportunity.
00:55We wanted to go play it, and Cam, nothing but the best.
00:59He's handled himself the right way since he's been here.
01:02He's done everything the right way, everything that we asked him to do.
01:05So we wanted to do right by him and give him the opportunity.
01:08All right, they want to do it for Cam.
01:10Good for them.
01:12Did it for Cam.
01:13Probably also.
01:14He couldn't get on the field here.
01:17Clint, your thoughts here.
01:19Cam Robinson, not a real surprise.
01:21We started hearing rumblings of this when they made the final depth chart.
01:26We started hearing the thought of they may move on from one of these tackles,
01:30and we thought, well, Cam is the one that makes sense.
01:32Blake Fisher is the second-round draft pick you got two years ago.
01:36They would probably try to continue to see if there's some growth there with him.
01:40But they move on from Cam Robinson.
01:42Your thoughts on the move from the Texans today?
01:45Well, it's just two-pronged here.
01:48One, I love the way that Nick and D'Amico,
01:50their approach to moving on quickly from mistakes that they make.
01:54Look, I'm not sure if Ariante Ursary is a better left tackle right now than Cam Robinson.
02:04And so I don't know if it's Ariante Ursary that allowed them to cut Cam Robinson
02:08or trade Cam Robinson, I'm sorry.
02:10I don't know if Cam's, I'm a veteran, I'm going to chill through camp
02:15and maybe kind of different approach to the game and practicing and playing
02:25than maybe they're looking for in this particular offensive line room.
02:29I don't know if Cam not being a great fit was part of it.
02:32But either way, it doesn't matter.
02:33I mean, Don, in such a quick manner, for me,
02:39I just love them doing business like that.
02:42Number two is, I mean, we can't have a Cam Robinson conversation
02:47without having a conversation about how bad Nick and D'Amico have been
02:52in the O-line arena.
02:54I mean, whether it's drafting guys or signing guys.
02:57I mean, you look at right now, they're top two veteran free agent signs
03:03or acquisitions in the offseason.
03:05Laken Tomlinson is splitting time with Juice Scruggs,
03:09who wasn't good enough to get on the field when guard was a problem.
03:12And Glenn, he may be done splitting.
03:15Yeah, yeah.
03:15I mean, he may be benched.
03:17And Cam Robinson is traded to the Cleveland Browns, right?
03:19So, I mean, just another, I think, flashing red light, if you will,
03:28on the dashboard of Nick Casario and D'Amico Ryan's offensive line issues.
03:35This is not a good look in that department.
03:38So, glad they can move on from mistakes,
03:40but damn, how many O-line mistakes can we make?
03:43Yeah, I was kind of in the same thought of,
03:47I'm glad, like, overall, Clint,
03:50I'm glad that they didn't try to make this potential problem worse.
03:57And we've seen it.
03:58Like, there are some organizations, and I'll be honest,
04:01I think we've watched it from this one a little bit.
04:04I think they tried to force Kenyon Green to work.
04:07I think they tried to force Shaq Mason to work at times last year.
04:12And it was clear, like, you got to do something else.
04:17And everything you said is on the money.
04:21It was, this is a blunder, right?
04:24Like, I was going back and forth with somebody earlier today on Twitter.
04:28Like, did this, he was not an insurance policy.
04:31There was no, it was not the plan to give him $14 million,
04:3512 guaranteed to sit down on the bench
04:38and then trade him for pick swaps with the Browns,
04:41you know, four weeks in.
04:43No, the plan was for him to take left tackle
04:46and for Titus to be a guard
04:51and, hey, let's see who is better with our second-round picks
04:54from the last two years, Ursary and Fisher,
04:57and that will be the line.
04:59Seemed like that was it.
05:00That was the plan.
05:01And then he had that injury and it was like,
05:05yeah, Ursary is playing well, but this guy also can't go.
05:08Hell, they saw it week one.
05:10We saw they tried to get him on the field against the Rams
05:12and that clearly didn't work before he had to come out.
05:15So, yes, it was a blunder, but, Clint,
05:18it could have been made worse if they tried to force,
05:22all right, we're going to force this thing
05:23and we're going to make Titus the guard
05:25because that was what our plan was
05:27and we're going to have Ursary as the right tackle
05:28and him as the left tackle
05:30when that just, they'd be worse than they are right now, right?
05:34I think Josh Hines, Allen, would have done a number on him too
05:36if they left him in there
05:39and then your right tackle spot probably would have been weaker
05:42without Titus over there.
05:43So I will give them some,
05:45some small amount of credit, Clint, with that,
05:49that they didn't make this a worse situation, but, yeah.
05:55Yeah, somewhat probably.
05:56Now, I don't think Tripp Brown really has a lot to do with this decision.
06:01No, look, no, I think they, you know,
06:03they paid him and valued him as a start and tackle
06:05and it didn't turn out that that was the best case scenario for the Texans.
06:09Again, whether it was he's not a good fit
06:10or they don't believe he has the ability
06:12and Tay Ursary is just a better option.
06:14Either way it goes, it's clear, like, moving on from him is,
06:19you know, it's get some money off the books.
06:22I am curious to know, like, what, from a payment perspective,
06:27like, how much did they get off the books and what's that look like?
06:30I'm sure we'll see.
06:31With social media today, it's pretty quick before we find out, you know,
06:35what all that looks like.
06:36But, yeah, I'm with you.
06:38Look, I think it's we're all going to make mistakes.
06:40They're all going to make mistakes.
06:42They're going to miss on draft picks.
06:43They're going to miss on free agent acquisitions.
06:46They're going to miss on trades.
06:47You know, the only thing I could ask and we could ask,
06:50I think, that's fair is, hey, when you make a mistake, man, let's move.
06:53Yeah.
06:53Let's move on from it.
06:54I hate the be patient and you look up three years later,
06:57the guy's still the same player you thought he was.
06:59Right?
07:00I mean, it just – I love D'Amico's willingness to go,
07:05nope, that was a bad move.
07:06Let's get the hell up out of here.
07:08And this is one of those, I believe.
07:10All right, so that is the latest move there.

07:34Visit Paramount.nfl to get started today.
07:39All right, Clint, a much-needed victory for the Texans.
07:44I guess we'll get to CJ here and his grades coming up in a bit,
07:49but your takeaways from what was a must-win game for them
07:54to still have life on their goals of getting to the playoffs,
07:58your takeaway from yesterday's game.
08:00Well, look, I think, number one, I don't want to oversell this.
08:05It in no way – yesterday's game in no way, shape, or form moved the needle
08:10for me in a sense of what I think of this offense
08:13or is this offense going to be able to compete at a playoff level
08:18or is – you know, again, I still have major concerns for this offense
08:26versus an average opponent.
08:28I mean, that team we watched yesterday –
08:29I mean, hell, the only worst display was my Arkansas Razorbacks.
08:32I mean, that team we watched yesterday, Callahan's going to get fired.
08:35He just might make it to half –
08:36Well, Cam said to her ass –
08:39Well, he's already giving up play calling.
08:41He's trying, but he's already giving up play calling duties.
08:44And when a head coach starts that and starts shuffling the deck,
08:47man, good luck with that.
08:48So that was a pissy, poor football team.
08:52So I think, number one, just big picture, does not move the needle for me
08:56in terms of what this offense can do against, you know, the top half of the NFL.
09:00But I do think there are some positives to take from the game.
09:05And I think the first and the big one is, you know,
09:09hearing D'Amico Ryan's and C.J. Stroud postgame last night
09:13talking about, you know, C.J. getting out of a bad play and into a good play,
09:19one of them being a touchdown to Higgins on a big throw over the top.
09:25I thought – I think that is – whether it's at practice
09:28or it's in a game versus a poor opponent or it's in a big game,
09:31any way it goes, those are reps that you can't duplicate.
09:34And so I think for me, Ron, hearing that on multiple fronts throughout the game,
09:39mostly in the fourth quarter, obviously, but, you know,
09:42that part of it is something that you can't manufacture.
09:46It has to happen in a game.
09:47C.J. has to call it, see it, communicate it, and have success with it.
09:51And by God, the Titans almost looked shocked that anybody –
09:55that they would run routes past.
09:57Yes, they – I mean, he had Dalton open that he missed early in the game.
09:59Yep.
10:00And then, I mean, that was easy for him.
10:03That was – I mean, he was several steps with no help.
10:07You got to at least put some fear in people's thought that you will do that.
10:10Yeah.
10:11To back things off.
10:12Yeah.
10:12So I think that, number one, just him communicating and him changing plays
10:17and him having success and him taking shots and hitting those shots.
10:21Hell, I heard J-Lo double and triple down on the fact that the Nico Collins go ball
10:25that kind of swung the momentum in the game and started the offense to score in some points.
10:29You're looking at second and 33 right now.
10:31Yeah.
10:31Now, I don't know what the hell – I mean, that's a fire the defensive coordinator moment
10:35in a heartbeat.
10:35Second and 33 and you leave a corner on an island with Nico Collins.
10:39I don't care who it is.
10:40And bump and run.
10:40No deep help in bump and run.
10:42Yeah, your ass is fired in the locker room.
10:44You might not make the trip.
10:45We might put you on Southwest.
10:46The reality of it is that was an awful defense, awful play call.
10:50But if C.J. did communicate that and go to it, that is a big step in the right direction.
10:58I don't care who the defense is in a game-like situation or a game situation,
11:03not a game-like game situation.
11:04God, how football horny did he get when he looked out there and saw him?
11:07Oh, I know.
11:08I used to do it with Anthony Lucas.
11:10Like, golly, y'all scouted all week long and y'all decided to man him up
11:12in a critical situation?
11:13What an idiot.
11:14Yeah, no, that right there.
11:16And then I think, Ron, this offense needs weapons beyond Nico Collins.
11:20And for Woody Marks to step up the way he did
11:25and be the Woody Marks that I remember seeing at Mississippi State.
11:29You know what I mean?
11:29He had 119 all-purpose yards, damn near half of them through the air,
11:33half of them on the ground.
11:34He made guys miss.
11:35He has the ability to run inside and outside.
11:37True dual threat at the running back position.
11:39I don't know what took a month of football to get them to figure out
11:42that this is the guy to get a good bulk of the carries to
11:46and that him and Nick Chubb are the two guys that need to be rotating, not four guys.
11:49Not sure how they got here.
11:50What took so long to get here?
11:51But I love where they've landed with Woody Marks getting run
11:56and producing in a big way.
11:58I think those two things right there can't be minimized about this game.
12:01The screen on, what was it, third and 17 that he just was patient.
12:06I mean, it was Le'Veon Bell level patience to set up those blocks and then get it.
12:10And then that cut he made on the rushing touchdown,
12:13I think number 18 is still at the 12-yard line at NRG.
12:18I mean, he's standing sideways past him.
12:22So, yeah, that was huge.
12:23And we talked about it last week.
12:25He was my stock up last week.
12:27And I thought the numbers didn't show it against Jacksonville.
12:31But there were plays there for him.
12:33And it looked like they made a concerted effort.
12:36Two things that had to happen.
12:38They had to win, no matter what, against this outfit.
12:42And to me, there had to be some space in which we saw clear separation between those two teams.
12:48Now, it took a while.
12:49It took the fourth quarter.
12:52But 26-0, it is clear that the Texans and the Titans are on two different levels.
12:59And that had to happen.
13:00If that sucker stayed, 6-0, 12-0, you know, you need them to get the win, but you feel a little different.
13:07It was clear by the end of the game, 26-0, okay, these two teams are not.
13:13And they needed to have that happen.
13:16I agree, Ron.
13:17With Jacksonville and Indy both ahead of you early in the season, for what it's worth, you needed to know, where do we land, right?
13:23Do we land closer to Jacksonville and Indianapolis?
13:26Or are we really falling down here and going to win 6-0 at home against the lowly Tennessee Titans?
13:34So, it was a fourth quarter explosion of points that was desperately needed.
13:38And so, yeah, I agree with you.
13:40I think leaving this game 26-0, Ron, it was important to feel like you're closer to the top of this conference
13:45than you are the lowly bottom of this, I'm sorry, division, with the Titans being obviously in the cellar.
13:54I don't care.
13:55You beat somebody 26-0.
13:56Yeah, good point.
13:57Yeah, I mean, Denver, they had a dogfight with Tennessee.
13:59So, I mean, it doesn't matter.
14:01But there's no such thing on the list.
14:15I don't care if you're not.
14:18But I don't care.
14:19You're not.
14:20Okay.
14:21I think so.
